mattfeuter:Really? Wow Thanks. mrpudikin:Thank you very much for your response. It seems like you're confusing my question though. I'm not going for a premasters or a pgD. It's a top-up program, which is supposed to certify me with a complete bachelors degree. As against trying hundreds of university to get lucky with masters, I am very fine with this arrangement. It is just for one year (so no finances problem as I don't have to get into masters afterwards), and it would give me the opportunity to drop the "third class" shadow which would otherwise always hover around my credentials`and may still affect future opportunities. I just want to be sure if this topup is as it is described, and there's no hidden consequences. I believe that if I'd be given the same certificate as those who did full 3 years, no employer would be able to distinguish anyway, so that should prevent even the prejudiced ones from acting on their prejudice. But if there's something that indicates "top-up" on the certificate, it may pose a challenge. So I want to be sure of what I'm getting into. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone, so after trying to get admission for masters degree to no avail (due to third class), I have decided to go for a 1 year top up degree at Teesside. I want to ask if this is a good decision? Is this type of degree regarded in the same level as normal bachelors degree in the UK's job market? Can one even tell the difference on the certificate given? Also, will I still be qualified for the new post study work permit through this degree? Please help! 2 Likes |

Hello good people. I have some few followup questions on this process. 1. I see that almost all UK schools accept WAEC as an acceptable proof of English. Is there a time limit for the results allowed? My WAEC was written in 2011. Will I be facing any issues? If yes, how can i overcome such issues? 2. When it comes to proof of funds, can I show a statement in a mutual funds account, or the amount has to be kept in a regular savings/current account? Thanks to everyone trying to help on this thread. God bless. cc Justwise |

hosey: Thank you so much for your response and recommendation. Untop this school fees matter, I'm just spread thin, really. It took me more than 2 full years to save up the 10,000 pounds that I want to use and pay my school fees now (I was hoping to use it for Canada express entry, but ITA scores have shot up and I just can't wait in this country anymore). In addition to that, I'm counting on showing 2.5 million+ in my mother's account (the gratuity she just got) to serve as the living cost. Not like that is even enough, I'm still thinking of how to balance the huge deficit (especially with the current naira depreciation and all). I'm just tired. Those who are born with silver spoon do not know what they have. This life is hard when you have to struggle and suffer to get money. justwise:Thank you very much oga Justwise. I will try. If you can, I'd appreciate if you can suggest likely institutions, most especially those within my budget. God bless. Oloshi83: Thank you so much for these suggestions. I've checked all of them out, and they indeed look promising. But this their fees sha. Are there no schools with under 10k pounds fees in the UK? Ah. |

Hello everyone... please I need candid advise here. I studied Engineering, but graduated with a third class. I want to switch career and get masters in a course related to Business/Finance/project management/etc. Please which universities in the UK would accept me with third class? My budget for school fees is not more than 10,000 pounds. I've searched everywhere, but I keep seeing 2:2 base requirement. Something to note, for the past 3 years, I have been a volunteer for a major international organization in project management capacity. I am aware that requirements are not set in stone and can be adjusted on individual basis, but I'd love to get suggestions on the schools that are more flexible and more likely to accept my grade. Please help me. CC: Justwise |

Hello good people of this thread. Please I need recommendations. Are there free Universities in Germany that accept third class graduates for masters or they all have this hard cut-off of 2.5 - 2.7 German grade? Been on google for the past 2 days, but nothing encouraging has been coming out of it. If it's impossible to get masters with a third class, what other options do I have, apart from doing another bachelors? Please respond to this, I'm quite on the edge already.... |

danianne: Hello. Thanks for bringing this up. I went through their website and it seems like a perfect program. I have a few questions, and I hope someone has answers. I checked the total costs I would need to spend and I arrived at approximately GBP 300. However, adding study costs, brings an additional GBP 900 to the cost. So I want to know if it is compulsory to get their study materials and register at their tutor centres. Or can I just register for the exams and get good study materials for free online? Finally and most importantly, can you (and others here) please confirm if WES and ICES actually assess a bachelors degree and CIMA's "Certificate in Business Accounting" as 2 or more certificates? There's another professional diploma from CIMA that gets assessed as 3 years bachelors degree, but I haven't seen any info online on how ECA guys assess this their certificate program. I hope to get better info from all the ogas here. Please. |

DonTee07:Wow! NOUN is the best we can get? I have gotten admission to NOUN since November last year. Still unable to register on their portal. I have complained everywhere at the study centre. No one is able to solve the issue. If I miss the deadline this February, I'd have to wait another 5 or 6 months It's really disappointing. Studying a new language is totally out of it. I'm horrible at learning languages. I have weighed all my options, additional certificate is the best solution for my CRS score. Thank you very much for your inputs. Saintimakuh:Thank you very much for this suggestion. I have gone through NACETEM website but very little info can be found there. How much is their program? Do I have to regularly attend classes, or I can just get their materials and show up during exams (I don't stay in any of their study centres)? What is the process...I wonder if there are people who can share their experience (I really hope they are not another time waster). Thanks again! I hope to get further suggestions from other members, regarding where else I can get a straightforward PGD, without any Nigerian issues. |

Hello good people! So after much thinking and all. I have finally decided to join this journey, instead of study route (with visa hassles I have been reading and even higher costs). I'm in the middle of NYSC to get my work experience. I just got admission to NOUN to get 2 or more certificates, but already I'm facing administrative bottlenecks which could delay graduation date, if I push forward with it. So, my main enquiry is to seek further suggestions for smooth PGD in Nigeria. Preferably distance learning (since I have to also work). There must be excellent options out there! Abi, is Nigerian situation that bad that one can't get standard diploma in this country without issues popping up everywhere? 1 Like |

Hello good people. I got admission to NOUN late last year (around November) for PGD. I did all the necessary verifications and screening and I was told next resumption semester is January. January is here, I have been trying to register on the portal since January and what constantly shows is: "The matric number is not on the programme list! Please meet an Admin Officer!". I have gone to my study centre countless times....the woman in charge has since forwarded the issue, but no one is treating it at the NOUN Headquarter. There are few other people encountering this issue in my study centre and also haven't gotten headway. Can someone with this kind of experience suggest something that can be done? I don't want to miss the registration deadline. I thought NOUN was different and doesn't have all these administrative bottlenecks, which plagued my undergraduate days. I feel a bit disappointed already. |

WEIRDPC: Thank you for your reply. My CGPA in the last two session is around 3.0/5.0. I'm willing to write GMAT, if a great score would boost my chances considerably (like give 80% chance). Austinpee4: Thank you very much for your reply. The PGD I intend to pursue in Nigeria would be totally in line with my intended masters. I intend to do it at NOUN btw...I learnt they have a somewhat better system, with no need to physically deal with bitter, insensitive and corrupt lecturers/staff. I understand that the admission departments look at an application package as a whole. But, if there's a cut-off grade, there won't be much hope in cases like mine, would there? Or is the 3.0/4.0 not a "hard" cut-off? Getting another undergraduate degree is a no-no for me. My undergraduate in Nigeria left a sour taste in my mouth....I'm just trying to leave everything that looks like my past experience behind and move ahead in life. I'm not sure if I have the mental strength to endure repeating that level all over and excelling. I'd like alternatives that have some sort of progression in them. I appreciate that you gave the option though. Thank you again. 2 Likes |

Hello everyone. I've been a silent follower for quite a while, but decided to comment today. I really need your help. So I just finished from a Nigerian uni with a third class, which was honestly due to combination of several issues, most of which were somewhat beyond my control. I know this makes it almost totally impossible to get a canadian masters admission, and it is very hard to get TRV for PGD admission. So here's what I have on my mind, and I'd like to know if it makes sense. I want to get admission for a PGD here in Nigeria. I'll strive to get outstanding grades. Please, can this compensate for my poor undergraduate grade, and make me qualified for masters admission in Canada? If not, what are the other options that I have? Please help!!! jnyuwa02 Maziude Austinpee4 canadiannurse and other gurus. |

Like I said earlier.....I don't watch movies. Whether na Nollystick ooo abi na hollyghost abi chollyiron ........ My name is just for patriotism But I watched few novel movies like Romeo and Juliet, Harry potter and a few others ....bt they bored me big time! Especially Harry potter(which is dragged unnecessary; I stopped at part 2). Just my opinion. I've not really seen any movie from any industry that wowed me yet anyway. I always notice errors, so I'd rather not watch 'em. |

@ignatio, lol...actually.....most movies are not realistic....what I'm just trying to point out is when guys point to nollywood in terms of unrealism abandoning other movie industry with loads of it; and I noticed that it is the 'complex' problem that's causing it. I've always known nigerians not to be proud of what is theirs. Lol, the irony of everything is what amazes me; nigerians ridicule the industry but other countries appreciate it. That's why me sef decided to be proud of them. it doesn't matter whether I watch their movies, but one thing is certain; I will continue to hype Nollywood where ever I go and I will never say any ridiculous statement about it...even if I notice errors. @Omar, and it is one nigerian that posted that on youtube o (abi na u sef?). Nigerians will never seize to disgrace themselves in public. Meanwhile, has speedyboi disappeared? |

Speedyboi: ........... movie fails, you might not even get your complete money back talkless of profit. Film business is quite complicated.*ah! Sorry, I don turn to an advice giver instead of posting, sorry*Are you an investor yourself? Speedyboi: Why?Reasons: 1. Hollywood: cos I can't sit my @ss for complete two hours to watch a repackaged version of a movie I watched 2 weeks ago...and to even think the movies don't always make sense and very predictable, I must say. I can't imagine myself leaving the cinema and start questioning the main point I grabbed from the movie I just watched. Among what pisses me off the most is when they start chasing one criminal(the lead character) and they keep bashing the cars on the road. Abegi, if that's how police bash people's car in the name of chasing criminal, no one will own a car again. Another thing is when they want to fight the notorious guy(which we all know they will not succeed), they keep coming one after the other. I'm always like, can't they just rush the guy at once? Mtcheew. No matter how hard they try, Hollywood movies don't move me with their suspense anymore cos I can tell you how it will later turn out to be. Spartacus is the most ridiculous of the recent TV series, with too many blood splashing everywhere like humans have blood bank in their inner skin/ or are their organs made of blood? Lols(that's just among many other unrealisms the movie entails) . Titanic is an exception anyway, it was very realistic and less predictable. Nollywood: lols, I can't sit my @ss for 2 hours or more to watch ridiculous productions with bad execution of great stories. But just as you've said, I just have to shine my eyes. Cos though I don't watch movies, I can't deny that I got to watch Figurine, Phone swap, mirror boy, ije:the journey and I watched last flight to abuja this week. I was impressed with the movies, so as time goes on, I might get to stick to the nollywood movies; cos I prefer their own stories(the good ones) to Hollywood. Bollywood: the movies are okay, but I don't understand the language, I hate focusing on subtitles when watching a movie ;so I don't watch. China: lmao, movies of jetli jumping from a 10-storey building and landing on his finger ....save my eyes from harassment abeg. South african movie: in their movies, blacks are always the house helpers and other ridiculous roles while whites are doing the elites roles. I can't bear to watch such in an african movie. Ghana: hmmm...maybe when I want to watch porn, I will start watching. Some movies are exceptions anyway. Kenya, Congo etc..: there is no good marketing strategy, so I don't even get to see them. I don't know what their movies look like. But I heard they also make good stories. 1 Like |
