PoliticsIf Nigeria Is Broken Into Components, Northern Nigeria Will Be Poorest- Sanusi by Noneroone(op): 7:38pm On Apr 05, 2017
Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said that should Nigerian be broken into smaller components today, the northern part of the country would be the poorest of the regions.
The Emir also urged Muslims to imbibe and adopt western education and stop using religion and culture to set the region backward.
Emir Sanusi said this in his key note address during the opening ceremony of Kaduna State’s investment ands economic summit (KADINVEST), titled ‘Promoting Investment Amidst Economic Challenges’.
The emir then urged that it would be wrong to mirror living standard in the north in line with the oil rich Niger Delta, commercially viable Lagos and business oriented south-east.
He also said that the North East and West are the most poorest in the country and even in the world.
Other Muslim countries have pushed on. We are fighting culture, we are fighting civilisation. You tell me that you should not write love book in northern Nigerian. He also says it is wrong to burn books of science based on religion.
“What is the crime of those books?” he asks. Going further, he questioned the right of people in having more children in the region without having the resource to take care of them.
“Of what benefit is it to the north, having three million children roaming about?” he asks.

That is why i support Biafra. Nigerian system keeps power, money etc at the center for each ethnic group to fight over and control. This make winning the presidency the focus of politics in nigeria instead of providing quality life to the people. Why wont erhnic groups focus on increasing their population since it is a necessity for controlling the almighty center? Overpopulation will lead to crisis in future and Nigeria will never have the political will to fight it b'cos of ethnic interest. The individual ethic groups can only control theirs when they become indenpendent states and have nothing to fear.

cry cry baby.
Igbos are the smallest major ethnic group in Nigeria.
In the 1960s the Eastern region had the number 3,4 and 7 largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, )Igbos, Efik-Ibibios, Ijaws) and other large ethnicities like Ogonis. Plus al the other tribes of the northern cross river. YET it was only slightly more populated than the Western region that was almost exclusively Yoruba at the time. And the Yorubas of the then northern region divisions of Kwara and Kabba were not even part of the maths.
You do the maths.

out of that 23%, by the time you remove the heavily populated Ibibios, Efiks, Annangs, Ijaws, Ogonis, Bokis, Yallas...... Just imagine what you will have left.
like i said emotion drives most of your argument. Otherwise you'd remember that Igbos edos urhobo itshekiri ijaws were also in western region in large numbers.

Why are you ranting? Argue with facts. At least that chap showed some data, why not also counter him with some data that can be verified? You people are known/reputed noisemakers who throw numbers around. Going by the amount of noises you all make, one would've thought that your states in the SE would be amongst the most populated in the entire country, but the facts have revealed repeatedly that you guys are actually THE LEAST populated zone in the entire country! No data anywhere supports your claims. Whether it be recent census or what have you. I have often shown the attached screenshots of registered phone/internet subscribers data to show the estimated/ballpark population spread of Nigerian states (note that just the population of Oyo and Ogun alone outnumbers the entire SE! that's minus Osun, Ondo and Ekiti (or the worthy mentions of Kwara and parts of Kogi). From that data, asides Anambra, no SE state is more populated than any SW state minus Ekiti. This isn't noisemaking but rather credible data. Even if Igbos are 30% of Lagos population, Yorubas still outnumber you guys by far! Face the fact, you people are fond of making wild and exaggerated claims about your population strength yet una no fit prove am.

lol...another load of emotional bunkum. Quoting same silly and unreliable figure that didnt even recognize ethnicitiy.
CultureRe: Most Populous Tribe In Nigeria by Noneroone(m):
Sammy07:
So the whole south east ( Anambra, imo, enugu, abia, ebonyi ) = 15, 431, 555

south west (Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, ogun, Lagos )
= 25, 221, 332

and their are significant igbos in South south....
also their are significant Yoruba in North

and also in South West states,,, their are 10-15 % of igbos in South West .. in each state of South West ( they aren't upto that, it's just assumption)
in the north igbos are not up to 5%

Also their are 20 - 25%of Yoruba in Kaduna and Kano each ...

Now do the calculation
smh...continue swimming in delusion. You guys always go emotional whenever you're reminded the obvious. If you dont believe yoruba is the smallest of the three major groups why are you running around the thread trying to convince yourself that there are more yorubas than Igbos. Most yorubas in lagos know Igbos are bigger. four yoruba states of oyo ogun osun and hardly ondo have average population while ekiti is quite small to even be a state. Outside sw zone there are yorubas in kogi but kogi itself has a small population despite its large size, okun being just 24% of the state's population amounting to about 450000 people. There are also yorubas in kwara but in south. North being hausa and nupe while central is a mixed. Lagos which the most populous yoruba state has more than half ot its people as non yoruba. As you can see Yorubas only appear large on the surface. Here in the Igboland states like Anambra, enugu Imo and Abia have average population. Outside SE Delta unlike kogi state have high population. Aniomas have highest no of lga in the state, they are quite big to be a state. What is more, in Rivers Igbos are majority. Infact PH city lga and obio akpor are bigger than ekiti. Again igbos in lagos are big enough to make a state.they are infact nearing yoruba population therein. As you can see igbos appear small on the surface but are big. Every ethnic census conducted has always placed Igbo ahead of yorubas. You guys always find it difficult to balance the allegation that Igbos troop into southwest with the claim that yorubas are bigger than Igbos when population figures become the focus. I must add that no sensible people boast with population figures in 2017. what i just stated is for the sake of fact only. It isbecause of the structure of the country which encourages internal strife and competition to dominate and politically subjugate instead of developing that people belive than having a bigger population is more important than living a quality life. This is even why i am in favour of Biafra.
PoliticsThe Unlikely Trump Fans Of Nigeria by Noneroone(op): 8:10pm On Mar 31, 2017
On the surface, Donald Trump's earnest support from a group of secessionists in Southeastern Nigeria might seem odd, especially when one of the biggest charges being hurled at his administration is anti-Black racism. However, the Biafran support of Donald Trump is nuanced. They don't agree with him on everything- but they don't feel they have to.
Biafra was a short-lived secessionist state in Southeastern Nigeria that lasted from 30 May 1967 to 15 January 1970. A military coup in January 1966 saw the assassinations of Northern Nigerian leaders like Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Northern Premier Ahmadu Bello. Their deaths sparked the killing of thousands of Igbos and members of other ethnic groups from Southern Nigeria in anti-Igbo pogroms across the north of the country. Millions of southerners fled the North, abandoning their homes, businesses and employment. The pogroms led to secession and the Nigerian Civil War, which only ended when Biafra conceded defeat and rejoined the country.
Modern Biafran secessionists believe that the conditions that led to the Nigerian Civil War are still present today. However, unlike the original movement, the secessionists, led by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), feel the people of Southeastern Nigeria are economically and socially marginalized by the state.

Why Donald Trump?
A pro Donald Trump rally held by Biafran activists in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in January 2017, left over 20 people dead at the hands of the police. A lot of my American friends couldn't understand why any Nigerians would come out in support of Trump when his administration has been charged with xenophobic immigration policies and the appointment of staff who have ties to white supremacist groups.
But from dialogues I have had with many Biafra supporters, the reason for Trump's overwhelming support is actually multifaceted. They don't support his immigration policies, xenophobia or his anti-Black racism, but they are willing to overlook them based on his stance on radical Islam, Brexit, and his statements on the self-determination of nations.
After all, the argument Biafran activists have been putting forward is that if European countries can have referendums for independence, then why can't Nigeria?
On 23 June 2016, the United Kingdom held a referendum that saw it break away from the European Union. This has become known as Brexit. The next day, on 24 June, Trump tweeted:

"Self-determination is the sacred right of all free people's [sic], and the people of the UK have exercised that right for all the world to see."
Self-determination is the sacred right of all free people's, and the people of the UK have exercised that right for all the world to see. - Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 24, 2016
This statement became a rallying cry for the secessionists who took it as a sign that Trump would support their cause. After all, the argument Biafran activists have been putting forward is that if European countries can have referendums for independence, then why can't Nigeria?
The other reason for Biafran activists' support of Trump is his tough stance on radical Islam. The mostly Christian Igbos have long cited cultural incompatibilities with the largely Muslim ethnic groups in Northern Nigeria, and growing Islamic fundamentalism in the North has been a major point of contention for Biafran activists. Many states in the North have implemented strict Sharia laws, which many Christians have seen as a violation of the constitution of what should be a secular country. For Biafrans, Trump is one of the few leaders bold enough to address the issue head on.
Islamic fundamentalism in Northern Nigeria has been a major point of contention for Biafran activists.

What do Biafrans really want?
In November 2016, Amnesty International released a report stating that the Nigerian military has been carrying out a campaign of extrajudicial executions that has resulted in the murder of at least 150 peaceful pro-Biafra protestors. In addition to what they deem as the unlawful imprisonment of IPOB's leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the findings have bolstered the secessionist group's claims of persecution and systemic oppression at the hands of the Nigerian government.
While Biafran support for Donald Trump most likely will not amount to much outside of Nigeria, especially if Trump never acknowledges it, the activists feel that supporting him will help their voices be heard on an international scale.
