Radio Biafra will go live in America from Sunday, Leonard Anemene, a leader of the organisation, said in a statement issued on Friday.

Anemene said but for some challenges, the project would have been out earlier.

He did not say the exact location where the station will be operating from.

“On the 12th of January 2017, the leadership of IPOB in unison with the leader, deputy leader and the Directorate of State (DOS), decided to expand the broadcasting services of the Biafran struggle through the creation of a new broadcasting service in the Americas,” he said.

“So, a live broadcast of Radio Biafra International (RBi) from the Americas has been imminent for a very long time now but was delayed due to logistic bottlenecks.

“However, we are proud to announce to you all today, that we are going live on air on Sunday, the 19th of March, 2017 with a maiden broadcast, starting from 10.00 am Biafra time.”

In July, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) jammed Radio Biafra signals as a result of inciting messages transmitted by the station.

“Right now the signals from radio Biafra have been jammed successfully by the NBC,” she had told state house correspondents in Abuja.

“The commission is also working with security agencies to get those that are behind that radio because it is an illegal radio. It is not licensed by anybody to be on the airwave in Nigeria.”

But dismissing the claim, the station said the federal government cannot silence it.

“NBC lied to their master. Radio Biafra is live in BiafraLand. They cannot even ban our local station, do they even know we also transmit via satellite and online as well,” the group said in a statement.

Nnamdi Kanu, a director of the station, is currently in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Last month, a court ruled that he should be tried for treason.

95% of what? Where is your source? Erm, Oga please be informed that the oil wells where Orient is currently operating or conducting its' exploration activities, cover more than 3 states. Those wells are located across Anambra, Kogi, Enugu and other state boundaries. OPL 916 which you referred to consists of oil wells that are dry (i.e. they lack oil). What is anti-Igbo about my comment? Someone asked why Geometric has not come on stream and i gave him the crux of d matter. Do u think i like the fact that Geometric is being unnecessarily delayed? Aba is the largest city by land area in Igboland and i want that place to be developed, esp with this power plant that would assist businesses there but the truth is that Mr Nnaji's greed has set those plans back. Forget the april date he has set again. April will come and go, then he will tell us september again. I have lived, schooled and worked in Lagos as well as other parts of Nigeria, and I am yet to meet a Yoruba community or person trying to label Igala as Yoruba, or trying to drag the Igala into their fold. They have not claimed even the Itsekiri yet, is it now the Igala they would drag? when you attend Itsekiri social & political gatherings, you will observe mutual respect between both groups, when they relate with each other. Hehehe.... everyone knows those who specialise in dragging other ethnic groups into their clique, in order to populate their proposed republic. It is the IPOB crew.

Shey, you can see the angle from which they started this thread? They began with the issue of language. Soon, they will digress to the issue of culture, and then they will land in the realm of ancestral ties and ethnic identity. It is at that point they will start dictating to the Igala what their ancestral history should be, and how they believe it unfolded through the ages. As if the Igala and other tribes in Kogi, asked them for a tutorial. Anyone with a contrary opinion will be derided by the IPOB crew. They are silly revisionists. They have done it on other threads before. We know their antics! We are watching in 3D.
