PoliticsWhy Nigeria Must Restructured Now Before It Becomes Late by Noneroone(op):
No doubt Nigeria is passing through terrible times. Radical islam and terrorism plaques the North, there is massive onslaught against oil installations by millitants in the Niger Delta and heavy fighting between army and militants in south west. Also, pro-Biafran sentiment has reached uprecidented height since 1970 in the East. These are caused by injustice and grieviances, arising from the structure of the country.
Here are reasons why Nigeria must hold a sovereign national conference or face inevitable crumble.

Firstly, the agitations and dissenting voices are growing strong. It started with IPOB and radio biafra, and now avenger. This groups are stronger and more resolute than previous ones and the FG has shown its inability to stop them. Radio biafra is still blasting despite jamming attempts and Kanu doen't look like he is joking, even in prison. Avengers have halved oil production and pledged to step up attacks in the coming months. FG has to borrow to augument budgect deficit. Even if the FG decides to use force, how can the succeed against a faceless militant group using guerrilla method. Now, if it continues like this, can the country survive one more year?

Again, trends in global politics seems to disfavour Nigeria. UK, Nigeria's "god-father" now face the challenge of scottland's push for self determination, the principle upon which they relied in leaving the EU. Are still ready to finance a clamp down on seperatist voices in Nigeria even with the current conditions of crude oil price, on of their targets?

Islamic terrorism in Europe and and US is making voters to lean towards the conservatives, making trump's emmergence likely. This will prove a games changer. He warned he might not work with liberals, hailed brexit and even posted tweet in favour of self determination. Now anyone who thinks he will not back pro-biafrans if the movement hots up under him may be in for some jokes.

UK helped Nigeria in 1967, b'cos aside oil, they felt obliged to keep their ex colony united and maintain their integrity. Again, they wanted to forestall a possible contagion that may lead to break up of other African countries. Now that they have richer democratic credentials, enjoyed self determination by leaving EU, and may apply same for scotland, they will be "morally tied" to fight against same if it happens in the case of Biafra. Moreover Russia helped Nigeria during the war because they were desperate for allies and therefore competed with UK in supplying arms to Nigeria. Now, the ideological competition which informed Russia's civil war policies on Nigeria reduced. If Trump who has Putin's support emmerges, we might even see them speaking with one voice on issues like that, and we know Trump's attitude towards self determination.

The mighty USSR failed to look inwards and collapsed under the weight of it's own problem. Who imagined that an incumbent president would loose in Nigeria. It always looks impossible until it happens. Nigeria has a choice of following the path of reason by restructuring or part in pieces.
PoliticsRe: Poll-ambode Leads As Nigerias Top Performing Governor by Noneroone(m): 6:49pm On Jul 31, 2016
How many people are in Lagos to see whatever is it Ambode is doing? Around 15million

How many people are in Anambra to see what Obiano is doing? Around 7million

based on this Ambode has a better chances of winning any poll even if he is a lame duck governor. Therefore Obiano is actually leading in the poll.

Seriously if Obiano handles the Amount ambode throws around, Anambra would have been selling power supply to other states by now.

If we analyze your points one at a time you hold nothing against the man than probably him being from Imo State and emerging biggest Igbo personality today. If indeed he succeeds in removing Ekweremadu and probably replace him with an Imolite will you agree he is powerful? Let us just wstch events unfold.
the "ifs" i your post signify hoplesness and visionlesness that your "Biggest Igbo personality" is known for.
Well i wont live my life "watching as events unfold". The Igbo nation has a direction.
PoliticsRe: RE: Adaure4ever, One Of The Sins Of Rochas Okorocha by Noneroone(m):
Abagworo:
Where and how did Adaure4ever insult Ndigbo other than proposing what she feels us the best way foward? The truth is that you people want all of us to hate Rochas for being prominent but we won't and our opinion stand. Who built the Igbozurume hall Enugu? Who launched the 1st recent Igbo newspaper? Who advised Ndigbo to join APC because power was obviously going to shift hands?

IMHO Okorocha is the only Igbo leader today committed to true Igbo course and stays influential in Nigeria. The rest are fighting for political relevance.
I know if i tell you the truth you will brand it hate. Nevertheless, the truth is Okorocha is daily prooving those who claim he isn't Igbo right. Most of the things he has done suggest he doesn't share same blood with Igbos, politics aside. politics entails knowing your people's aspiration and making them a reality. But okorocha represents everything that isn't Igbo. He lacks discipline, integrity, sanity, resolve and vision. A governor who rose to power with APGA after years of wandering in political wilderness from one party to another, dished the party and joined a party whose ideology run contrary to the aspirations of his own people. Why is he doing it? Because he wants to be president. When zik led Igbos, was he so dumb, idiotic and directionless like okorocha who lost presidency in three different parties and went down to governorship contest with the fourth party? Even Obj called him a failure in Lagos

Did zik go the extent of calling Igbos dumb just to be loved by enemies?

Assuming his logic of "building bridges" should be taken for anything, where is such a bridge expected to lead Igbos? Will Igbo presidency end the current unitary system, federal character, resource control by the central govt and ethnic musclings that bedevil development in nigeria? These issues are very fundamental to Igbo interest and any igbo who supports restructuring is an Igbo leader hence pple like Anyaoku, Ekwueme, Nwabueze, Ekweremmadu even Achuzie are respected. But okorocha wants to preside over a system that supress his own people and is even ready to help the enemies crush genuine agitations. Even west and north know the system is schewed to their favour an are suprised to find an 'Igbo' willing tool in him. His allies in north dont understand him 'cos they cannot believe someone could be so dumb to sell his people. Hence they cant even trust him.

How can a man who can't pay salary in an oil producing state govern Nigeria (if he were to win in his dreams), a man who cant even control his weight? Imagine a man who couldnt secure appontment for his croonies under buhari and had to resort to begging, insulting Igbos. A man who never attended SE governor forum meeting but attends northern govs meeting, a man whose political allies are rebels in their respective domains in SE and SS . It is a pity you abagworo are forced to resort politics of sectionalism to score some points, yet you're making no point cos, Anambra also voted out beloved Ngige. Okorocha has embarked on a suicide mission, a collision course with his pple in the name of building bridges. The bridge will soon collapse and he will pay for his treachery.

Anonimi,

I hope the non issue you were labouring over will now be put to rest....you claimed not to understand my point despite my clarification.

Since EU airlines don't use Enugu as their Nigerian hub, it makes neither common nor economic sense to assume that the fresh produce destined for European cities will fly from there!!!

Only Air France has a PH flight, and it's jointly shared with the Abuja route, PH-ABV-CDG , not PH- Paris straight...

Farm produce reach Europe, Anambra is sitting pretty, leave it at that. Route verification is just pettiness and totally unnecessary.

Obiano is doing great on his own, celebrate him, don't try to attach what isn't there. Peace. cool
you are trying so hard to justify the undue monopoly enjoyed by MM airport. We have airports in Enugu, Asaba and Port harcourt but Anambra had to export products through far away lagos. And you are openly supporting a system that harbours such injustice. Do you really think this will go on for long? You and I know it won't.

PoliticsHausa And Yoruba Residents Clash In Lagos, 3 Killed, Office Injured. by Noneroone(op): 6:20am On Jul 27, 2016
LAGOS—Three persons were shot dead
yesterday, during a shootout between
hoodlums and some officers attached to
the Federal Operations Zone A, Ikeja,of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, at White Sand community in Ijora Badia area of
Lagos State.Three others, among who was a Customs officer, also
sustained gunshot injuries.
Troublestarted, Monday, following a clash between Hausa and Yoruba residents over accusation by the latter that
the former had been terrorising the area.
A resident, Tajudeen Shamsudeen,
explained that a boy, identified as Ojo, said
to be on his way home, was allegedly
stabbed to death by some Hausa boys.
Shamsudeen said: “For long, these Hausa
boys have been attacking people here.
They waylay people, dispose them of cash
and belongings. Even rulers of both ethnic
groups are aware of the issue.”
The attack on Ojo, according to him,
sparked a riot during which dangerous
weapons were freely used by both parties.
But for the timely arrival of policemen
from Ijora Badia, the situation would have
assumed a violent dimension. 10 persons
were said to have been arrested in
connection with the unrest.
Demolition
Vanguard gathered that demolition of
shanties in the troubled community
started yesterday morning.
While unconfirmed reports had it that it
was on the order of the state government,
the Hausa alleged that the demolition was
carried out in their places of abode only.
While the demolition was ongoing, some
Custom officers, who residents alleged
were invited by the Seriki Hausa, stormed
the community in three patrol vehicles at
about 2.30p.m. They were alleged to have
fired sporadically to scare off some
hoodlums, who were roaming the area.
The hoodlums were said to have resisted
the Customs men, who allegedly attempted
to stop the demolition, an action that led
to a shootout, during which three persons
were felled by bullets.
One of the bullets from the hoodlums hit a
Customs officer. The Customs men then
fled the scene, heading towards Apapa.
As at 5p.m., Vanguard gathered that the
injured officer was being treated at the
Lagoon Hospital, Apapa, with two police
patrol vans stationed within the hospital
premises.
One of those hit by a stray bullet was
Azeez Tajudeen. Eyewitnesses said he was
first taken to the police station for a police
report, before being rushed to an
undisclosed hospital.
Police story
Confirming the incident, the state Police
Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, a
Superintendent of Police, however, said
only one person died, while two others
are recuperating in the hospital.
She said:”The community and the police
were on a joint operation of raiding black
spots within the community and arresting
suspected criminals yesterday.
“In the process, some officers of the
Nigerian Customs Service officers, who
were with officials of the National
Emergency Management Agency, NEMA,
had an encounter with some of the
hoodlums.
“They fired some shots and three people
were hit. As a result, one death was
recorded, while two others are receiving
treatment in the hospital. Policemen are
not involved.”

bigfrancis21:
Lagos may be linguistically weak in Yoruba due to urbanization and the presence of other tribes and foreign nationals living in it especially in the high-end expensive areas, however in certain areas of it the language is still there for non-Yorubas to pick up if they are interested. Looking back at history, Yoruba may hold sway in the Nigerian music industry because Lagos is the centre of it all, the very place where early Nigerian-style music started from. Being a Yoruba-speaking state, it was easy to infuse Yoruba elements here and there into songs produced which sold all over Nigeria, which spread the knowledge of those words nationwide. Just as Igbos hold sway in the movie production aspect of Nigeria, movies of which are popular all over Nigeria, Africa, Caribbean etc., it is common to meet other Africans who know words such as Igwe, Nna anyi, biko etc.

One thing I do know about Yorubas is their affinity for their culture and more tendency to hold on to or retain their culture anywhere. A few times I've seen a Yorubas here in the US speaking their language loudly without much care. They take pride in their language. It is a good characteristic. However, the survival of Ifa in Brazil and co. is mainly because Yoruba slaves arrived South America as indentured servants (indentured servants had more rights and were often paid for their work) mostly at the end of the slave trade in the late 18th century after the slave trade had been officially abolished, leaving them much freedom and allowance to practice their culture than the earlier slaves that arrived at the peak of slave trade (when slave masters forcibly eliminated all traces of their culture and they were forced to acculturate to their new environment). Being the last of tribes to arrive, their connection to their culture was the strongest. Yoruba slaves arrived south america to meet other slaves, majority born there compared to the foreign-born Yorubas, who had long been acculturated to their new environment with little or no connection to their African roots. To them, the introduction of Ifa by Yorubas served as a connection to 'mama Africa', which still continues till today.

In all, the Nigerian music industry has been long influenced by Yoruba language. P Square, during an interview, once said that, as an uprising artiste back in the early 2000s, one would have to sing a song or two or add Yoruba words to one's songs for it to sell, and they did sing one or two songs with Yoruba lyrics such as 'ore mi', 'kolo', etc. However, I've noticed that as these musicians rise to fame they switch to their original language and Pidgin as they realize they no longer need to sing in Yoruba for the fame since they are now famous. As P Square became famous, we had Igbo songs from them such as 'Ifunanya', 'Beautiful Onyinye', 'Bunie ya enu', etc. with occasional songs with Yoruba once in a while. This shows how influential Yoruba was back then in the 2000s. However, I do think that in recent times the influence of Yoruba on the Nigerian music industry has waned. With the way things are now, upcoming artistes nowadays do not need to sing in Yoruba to be famous. Artistes such as Flavour, Phyno, Nigga Raw, Zoro etc. from the eastern side are popular artistes in Nigeria who grew to fame by singing mostly in Igbo. Not only Igbo artistes, even some Yoruba ones too. Korede Bello is a Yoruba artiste (correct me if I'm wrong) who grew to fame without the Yoruba influence by singing mostly in pidgin, and especially who grew under the tutelage of Don Jazzy. Adaobi, which Korede Bello featured in, grew the guy to fame.
i wonder who ever nurtured the thought that yoruba dominated the music industry. They only dominated afro beat which is their brand of music. But when you talk of highlife you know where the masters are. I grew up hearing songs of Osadebe , oliver de coque, oriental brothers and celestine ukwu etc even nico mbaga who wasnt Igbo sang in Igbo and was very popular. Most of Onyeka onwenus songs are in Igbo but she is nigerias greatest female artiste ever. The fact that some pple easily get excited when pple use their language doent make their language more famous. Nowadays sef. Igbo lang. has almost completely taken over the industry. Most popular non igbos sing in igbo.
