Politics › IPOB Protest In Aba Says Nobody Can Crush Biafra by Noneroone(op): 7:25pm On May 10, 2016 |
ABA- Over 5,000 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, today embarked on a protest march in Aba, Abia state, threatening that nobody can stop the actualization of a sovereign state of Biafra. The group, who wore black attire and Biafra emblems, marched from the Ariaria International Market through Faulks road to Okigwe road. A cross section of them who spoke to newsmen said they were protesting the statement allegedly made by President Muhammadu Buhari that he would crush Biafra. They threatened that there will be no peace in Nigeria until freedom is granted to an independent state of Biafra. “We are protesting against President Buhari’s statement that he will crush Biafra. We want to assure him that nobody can assure Biafra, not even a thousand Buharis. It will surprise him that Biafra will be actualized during his reign as Nigeria’s President. Buhari supports Western Sahara and Palestine to be granted sovereignty while he continues to suppress Biafra. Is this double standard? In fact, Buhari will be the last President of Nigeria.” The protest which was peaceful caused heavy gridlock along the dilapidated Faulks road causing motorists to move at snail speed while others diverted to other routes. While, the protest lasted, police patrol teams moved round the city while soldiers were on standby to provide security. Efforts to contact the spokesman of the Abia state Police Command, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke, proved abortive as at the time of filing this report. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/ipob-protest-aba-says-nobody-can-crush-biafra/lalasticlala |

Many of these people you call children should be in the university but they are standing miserabely cheering a man who neither gave them scholarship nor attracted any project to his impoverished village, as a former head of state. This is the same man "educated people" elected to lead them into prosperity in 2015. That picture depicts the future of Nigeria under Buhari |

madenigga: Its all a pipe dream sha, d ikwerres I know wudnt want to form any union with igbos as they are intimidated by them and tend to be unsecured around them.
Ikwerre and igbo situation is wats playing out between edo/yoruba ryt now. even some ikwerres beleived dat d similarities in there language with igbos were forced on them by igbos as a result of there proximity to each other, just imagine the rubbish, calabar people dat has been in the eastern region were not influenced to adopt igbo language, even small ogoni no adopt igbo language, but ikwerres did out of wishful thinking. u had to quickly change your position having predicted the out look and possibility of a clear edo rejection. You have resorted to your normal ikwerre hate igbo. Let me tell you, upland rivers issue is non debateable. Only that of Bonny and opobo cos bonny is a traditional ijaw settlement with with Igbo indegenes. Infact am sure you'll get stunned if 'south south' minorities are asked if they'll like to form their seperate region or stay with Igbos via a referendum. Most of them dont know themselves individually. Ibibio has nothing in common with itshekiri. Those groups see Igbo as their rallying point. I only prefer an exclusive Igbo region for political stability and understanding. |

This seems good
issues of state police and resourse control needs to be thrashed out too.
This is the only option to save the country i once made a thread about it two yrs ago
however whoever proposed the merger of edo with yoruba people didnt do a good job. They had already made a resounding rejection of such an arrangement in mid west referendum. They are not even one.
BTW a we seem to forget that any restructuring must involve a well monitored referendum.
The foundation for Nigeria's failure was laid by the military that created states, lumping distinct groups together through pronouncement from far away Abuja. |

CACAWA: good point. Joining ICJ or UN helps to avoid unnecessary wars, even if it means losing some legal battles once in a while.
As for the EU, the template they work on is totally unique. Not all regions operate the same way, for instance, we can't compare the EU to the former USSR, nor can we compare the kind of mandate given to the UAE.
The mandate of UN is also different from that of the AU in terms of how they control their members.
When it comes to Ecowas, their only concern is bilateral disputes. The courts claiming jurisdiction is doing so on the grounds of human rights charter ..which makes your argument somewhat valid albeit weak.
I'd be glad to see them ban Nigeria from any trade within the subregion.
In Dokubo's voice, "dem no fit" did Ecowas court claim jurisdiction over dasuki's case or not? Has kanu's case anything to do with human right like dasuki? These are the issues that are relevant now. So save me the bilateral thing |
Politics › Re: FG Tells ECOWAS Court To Hands Off Kanus Case by Noneroone(op): 9:29am On May 06, 2016 |
CACAWA: I think the Ecowas court is only meant to hear bilateral trade and boundary disputes within the subregion, not using any laws per se, but using bilateral agreements. They are more like an arbitration panel.
When it comes to human rights, the Nigerian constitution is abundantly clear.
Guys you need to check my fb page Ecowas court just like European union court has right to hear such cases. They have claimed jurisdiction over Dasuki's case . European union courts even have right to upturn court decisions of member states, which is why UK is threatening to leave. Nigeria has been rule for most time by illiterate Generals who lack requisite leadership skills and therefore wont know what membership of such community entail. They think their job is to clampdown on civilians and trade union. Do you think Nigeria would have become a member of ICJ the leader knew it could loose bakassi from it. |

Politics › FG Tells ECOWAS Court To Hands Off Kanus Case by Noneroone(op): 8:53am On May 06, 2016 |
The Federal Government has bluntly told the ECOWAS community court sitting in Abuja not to hear a matter brought before it by the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, over his continued incarceration and trial. The government, in its written preliminary objection filed by the Federal Ministry of Justice, to Kanu’s suit, No. ECW/CCJ/APP/06/16, submitted that the sub-regional court lacked, “the requisite jurisdiction” to hear and determine the matter before it. Consequently, it has urged the court to dismiss and/or strike out the action for want of jurisdiction, “stemming from incompetency in initiating the application against the defendants.” The government noted that instead of waiting for conclusion of his application before the Nigerian Domestic Court of Appeal on his bail, the plaintiff proceeded to the ECOWAS court, a move it stated, amounted to, “an abuse of court process or subjecting the Nigerian law to ridicule.” It submitted that Kanu, was being tried under existing Nigerian domestic laws and as such cannot properly file the suit before the sub-regional court. Also, the government stated: “The corporate existence of Nigeria as a united, harmonious, indivisible and indissoluble sovereign nation is certainly greater than any citizen’s liberty or right,” adding that once the security of the nation is in jeopardy, “and it survives in pieces rather than in peace”, individual’s liberty or rights may not even exist.” On the issue of jurisdiction, it averred: “It is trite law that a court cannot assume jurisdiction over ancillary claims when it has no jurisdiction to entertain the main claim, since an ancillary claim can only be properly determined by that court. Thus, it is improper to approach a court which is incompetent to determine only some of the issues in a case if there is a court with jurisdiction to determine all the issues.” Faulting the inclusion of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Director General of State Security Service as defendants in the suit, the government stated that in the context and framework of ECOWAS, only member states and community institutions can be sued before the sub-regional court for alleged human rights violation. It submitted that the court has no jurisdiction over the two defendants because they, “are neither member -states or community institutions of ECOWAS and therefore, not amenable to the jurisdiction of the community court of justice”. The government therefore, urged the court to strike out their names as parties in the matter, stressing that there is neither factual nor documentary evidence to any claim against them. http://sunnewsonline.com/fg-to-ecowas-court-hands-off-kanus-case/ |

Adaure4ever: I love Anambra people esp their boys(they are mostly cute) BUT I Do NOT Like their ARROGANCE, BRAGGARDISM and SUPERIORITY COMPLEX. They always see themselves as First class Igbos, an Ebonyi man is inferior to them in their eyes. Igbo Race don't begin and end in Anambra, Recently 2015 IGR Report shows that Enugu state have the highest IGR in South East but you will never see an enugu man bragging about it. And Yes, Enugu City is a more beautiful City than Awka and Enugu is 4times the size of Anambra. Ebonyi and Abia are ahead of Anambra in Agriculture. Let the Anambra man drop his arrogance and embrace humbleness. Ndewo nu o. you must be kidding! U said Anambrarians are arrogant yet u set off boasting with what others have that u think we dont have. The way some of u think shows wat will happen if u're one inch ahead. When u see progress dont be envious of it, rather, compete with it! It will be unfortunate that Igbos are persecuted for being ahead, then same Igbos gather and carryout same act on fellow Igbos. Since thread is about Awka without the mention of owerri, why then is abagworo running around it posting negative comments? I have watched chino and abagworo. chino, although more active in the fight, is more light hearted and comic while abagworo's beef is deeper and entrenched. U see him proving why flyovers are unnecessary and product of failed planning but yet , subtly boast with the one okorocha is building. He uses Awka as examples of 'small towns' even on yoruba threads. Does Chino or Anambra pple do that? How can such mentally unstable person who support a hopless man like okorocha speak abt Igbo unity? Is he even Igbo? He even questions his own maternity just like okorochas paternty is questioned. What does he know abt Igbo unity except on ikwerre and othe rivers igbo matters where he contradicts himself 3 times per page? What Does he know abt Anambra. Anambra house more non indegenes in the civil service than any other SE state, had her indigenes sacked by other SE states. Contributed in developing other SE states more than they did in our state and yet develop their own state faster than others. Yet one holigan who cant face an average anambrarian offline says Igbos will be more united without anambra. Going to ur claims of superiority complex. Every state does that which is why imo call themselve eastern heartland, enugu say they re the igbo political capital. Why will anambra man not have that too. If marrying a man with inferiority complex is your goal, i wish u luck. Btw anambra is ahead of abia and ebonyi in agriculture presently. Enugu city is more developed than awka but Awka is developing much faster. Hold on! Land mass has no business with this thread just like igr declaration is subject to political consideration. No state declares its true igr hence that is no point. Pls let us develop competitively and quit all these nonsense from abagworo and chino. |

Politics › Help Biafra, Nigerian Protesters Plead Outside SA Parliament by Noneroone(op): 8:33am On Apr 08, 2016 |
Cape Town - The Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) marched to Parliament on Tuesday to ask for help in securing the release of its leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently facing treason charges in a court in Abuja, Nigeria. "We need people to be aware of the Biafran plight," said Innocent Alia, Western Cape zonal co-ordinator of Ipob, while handing a petition over at the gates of South Africa's Parliament during a polite protest. He said South Africa, as a "leading light in democracy", could help immensely in resolving the decades-old dispute which had led to the deaths of many people. Ipob Western Cape spokesperson Gloria Alia explained that the strife in Biafra was a result of boundaries drawn by Britain as a colonial power, without regard for the preferences of people already living in the region. When Britain withdrew from Nigeria in 1960, it left the colonial borders in place. A protracted civil war ensued between Biafra and the Nigerian government as Biafrans sought self-rule. Biafra was reintergrated into Nigeria after the two-and-a-half-year conflict, during which an estimated three million civilians died in fighting and from starvation resulting from blockades. Alia said that Biafrans, who are mostly Christian, were also being pressured to convert to Islam by supporters of predominantly Muslim Ariwa. Ipob has launched a global campaign to put their campaign for self-determination on the world's agenda and Tuesday's march included dropping a petition off with British diplomatic representatives. Kanu was arrested by the Federal Government of Nigeria in October 2015 for broadcasting his secessionist views on a radio station he directed, Radio Biafra. The station operated out of the UK, but he was arrested while in Nigeria. About 40 people attended the march, and the petition was accepted by a parliamentary representative, Peter Lebeko, who explained the lengthy process of tabling and considering a petition. Alia said that Nigerian asylum seekers in South Africa were predominantly from Biafra and would return "in a heartbeat" if it were safe to do so. http://m.news24.com/news24/SouthAfrica/News/help-biafra-nigerian-protesters-plead-outside-sa-parliament-20160405 |
