I've been reading silently in growing astonishment. Tonye-T always loved the tithe issue but I never saw him display so much vitriol - Wow! KunleOshob will definitely come under great fire since he started the anti-tithe movement here and OBVIOUSLY it is working & people must be really withdrawing from tithing as a compulsion for there to be so much rancour.

I think Tonye should NOT be ignored. Allow him say more, insult more, fight more - wetin dey pain am plenty. I think most people don't really understand why Akala seemed so demonized in Ibadan. Rather than fiscal policies (though quite a few seemed bad) and the supposed inflation of contracts, his problem was based on 2 major issues

1st was his flamboyance - a 60 year old carrying designer canes, wearing ankle chains, bracelets left and right and there was the claimed "bleaching". Most saw him as loud, crass and irresponsible and if you ever heard him laugh, na wa! But these things were his choice and I could not see myself judging him over such - to each his own.

2nd and definitely bad, was the takeover of the State by NURTW and allied thugs. I am certain thousands died & I believe it was this that showed him the way out of Agodi Government house. Nobody felt safe as if you were unlucky enough to have them hit your vehicle in traffic, you could end up a dead statistic on the spot - it was that bad. I prefer not to describe the day they came to the high court beside my home. It was terrible!  Eleweomo & co "owned" town and everyone suffered for it. For allowing them such free rein, Akala became hated & lost his mandate.

You may wish to consider that the performers in government (Amaechi of GEJs' PDP and Fashola, etc) are not finding excuse to "share money" but rather "WORK". Their work (even though some of their policies were unpopular) gave them easily renewed mandates. GEJ apologists only need consider the percentage of votes Fashola got in Lagos and the fact that nobody including his PDP opponent saw any error/wrong in 4/5 of the votes going to him.

We want government of that caliber - not bribes, parties, billion Naira handing over to self etc whist facilities break down and security evaporates.
