One of the most tragic movements in Christendom today teaches that God promises to make each Christian prosper in material wealth.  Suffice it to say, the Bible teaches no such thing as seen in our text and elsewhere, but this false teaching is not new and is associated with apostasy.

Consider chapters 17 and 18 of the Book of Judges, which describe a period of rampant apostasy and confusion.  The chapters provide character sketches of an itinerant Levite, the tribe of Dan, and a man named Micah.  First we see that Micah steals 1100 shekels of silver from his mother, who then places a curse on the unknown thief. Micah, fearing the curse, confesses the crime.  His mother tries to lessen the curse by dedicating all the money to the Lord and converts 200 shekels into an idol.  Micah places the idol with his others, and consecrates his son as priest, even though they are of the tribe of Ephraim.  Later, he hires the Levite to be his priest and exclaims, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest (Judges 17:13).

In the next chapter, spies of the Danites go to the priest for God’s blessing on their efforts to find land that they can conquer.  When the marauders return, they recruit the Levite to a more prosperous position.  He joins them, having stolen Micah’s idols, and establishes the tribal priesthood.

Each one in this story was confident that God would bless them materially because they had the trappings of religion.  The common denominator was greed. Their desire for personal prosperity led them to a prostitution of the true worship of God.  But whenever religion is "used" to justify the love of money, it suffers degradation.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24). 1. Satan is intelligent - he will not ask you directly to pay for miracles. Rather, he will tell you the "Gospel" requires financing. He will tell you your giving shows faith. If His desire is that you help orphans, the poor etc, you may be blessed financially. None of the above is lower than another since they are equipped for their God chosen duties. What is wrong and a travesty is making people believe all must have money, and have health and have strength and have longlife. Aside the Apostles and Christ Himself, servants of God have lived who had no issues or contrariness imputed to their testimonies. Even today, they exist here among us on earth.

As with Christ, nobody complained that the miraces wrought by His Apostles were doctored or arranged. Same with men like A.W. Tozer and William Branham. They were NOT perfect but they were known for GOOD things. Interestingly, I have not come across claims of even the Redeemed Church or MFM or Deeper Life "arranging" miracles. Members of those churches cannot lay claim to perfection but none of these churches is known for loose morals, lies, thuggery and shameless thefts/fraud.

I said KNOWN FOR not that they are perfect. Redeemed is known for non-stop expansion and asking tithes. Deeper life is known for extremism in morality. MFM is known for "fall down and die" kind of prayers. Pastor Adeboye is particularly known for humility (a GREAT thing) even if many think it is false. The other two pastors have NOT A SINGLE bad thing attributed to their names. Pastor Chris is known for what?

Show me where you find ANY of His messengers who was liked/loved by the "church" movement? From Abel through Abraham to David to Isaiah past Elijah and Jeremiah all the way to John the Baptist. John also went as far as calling the religious establishment (the people who stood as your pastor chris in that time) a "generation of vipers". Funnily, John abused even people who came for Baptism. Didn't he want to "save" their souls??

You people ought read Amos 3:6 to understand God is responsible for all things. What is lost to you is the understanding that motive is intent i.e. if you do something to achieve good, then you have done good. If your purpose is evil, then you have done evil even if you saved someone's life. But for that statement to be absolutely true, you have to have absolute understanding and so, God comes into play.

God has knowledge of all things and because we trust that His purposes are for good, then we say He is good. However, all the tripe about "allowing" and "it is satan" etc remains just tripe. When we get understanding, we come to know that God does things to strengthen us. But like an athlete or soldier, we need to undergo training. That training is harsh, brutal and can seem cruel. But without that "harsh" training, most soldiers would have a life expectancy of likely less than a week at the war front. Same with Christians! And that is why any mature Christian is not moved or impressed by the feel good "replacement" gospel. We go through training IN THE HANDS OF GOD (not satan) and it can be brutal AND we cannot command/control Him. Sickness, failure, poverty, seeming lack of progress ALL can come from God in a design to strengthen us AND teach us to value this world less. Most mature christians here have become wealthy only after going through the fire. That training has made money become a tool rather than a master since we don't much much stock to it anymore. Our eyes are NOW set on a different kind of wealth.

And that is why its easy to know the mature - babes are still chasing life, wealth, vanity, health, making noise and they come both as 40 year (converted and making noise for so long but refused to mature cos they chase the world) christian toddlers and the newly converted. Fruits show all
