BMW don't generally have a good value in Nigeria both in monetary terms and turn around time.

My take on the X3 1st generation is it is a good vehicle not as reliable as the Japanese but down right better than the Alfa Romeo and jaguars. It isn't the first car to sport it's Engine lineup and transmission, you may only likely face part failure due to advance tech incorporated in them but those parts aren't expensive to replace.

It's a rare vehicle to come by owning to Nigerians fear of BMW, tokunbo is in the range of 2.4m -3.Xm depending on engine, colour and mileage.

You can ship to Nigeria and be able to sell but may stay long on the shelf, but selling depends on your marketing skills.

fuel economy is very important, this is buhari era plus being a family man too. I'm not a speed demon so average performance is pretty fine by me. By expensive, do you mean lexus expensive or what? General/regular repairs done on cars is the idea of the cost of repairs.

Reliable the years you pick but gear is a bit sensitive so no hanky panky and no shortcuts to avoid failure

Fuel economy
It's a 3.2L V6 for base and 3 5L V6 for type-S if fuel economy is so important buy an accord 4cylinder or Acura TSX

performance
0 to 62mph in 5.9secs the type-S with manual gear and paddle shifter can do it a tad better.
3.2L V6 270hp
3.5L V6 286hp
not bad for a luxury sport sedan, not the fastest neither is it the slowest.

parts availability
Body parts are expensive some parts are shared with Honda Accord but be weary and don't drag road with danfo and Keke napep

Cost of repairs
Depends on what needs to be done and workshop you intend to use, baba tawa is cheap but may fo shody job and use inferior parts.
Carquest is a good workshop and have original parts brand-new from the states, their price maybe affordable to some and expensive to some. So only you can decide.

But cost of repair shouldn't be close to what a VW Phaeton would command

I think, I'm not using the right ATF for my 2000 Lexus RX300 (1MZ vvti). Please recommend a good one for best gear performance.
Furthermore, when driving at 100km/h, I notice the rpm is between 4-5 instead of 2, I don't know if this is as a result of the ATF I'm using or shortage of ATF.

change to Toyota type T-IV and see if there is improvement, if no, prepare to replace gear

You have no problem car is normal like some one said, switch your gear to 1 or 2 not D and you will see your rpm pass 3000 if you intend to surpass the required speed for that lower gear

I understand what you are trying to say I don't drive my car to work currently because from my house to work is 150naira and same amount back, if I intend to do exercise, it's 50naira for 1 trip, so if I was using car for that trip it would be a waste. He must have factored in his transport expenses before thinking of buying a car.

Toyota matrix a hatchback with a 4 cylinder engine, available in FWD and AWD identical to Toyota Corolla in fuel economy.


Toyota RAV 4 a CUV, with a ground clearance higher than matrix, available in 4cylinder and a V6 depending on model year. The Rav 4 has a FWD and AWD variant, good rear cargo space and some variants with 3rd row seat (model year dependent).

I live at ikorodu and work at Lekki, with my own car I can leave home at 5:30am and get to work by 7:30am in peace, if you are taking transportation you are susceptible to robbery or getting late to work due to unavailability of Uber drivers.

ikorodu to Lekki is 40km tops, for to and fro, it is 80km, if my Corolla uses 10L for the day journey that's 1450 a day. if I am wise, I will pick people along and have them pay a sum to cover for fuel.
If you take transport Uber would charge you more than 1500 from ikorodu to Lekki, if you take public transportation you will spend at least 1k for a journey going only, factor in stress of jumping bus and conductors armpit odour when you are unfortunate to sit by the door.

Owning a vehicle isn't luxury, look at the stress you go through and distance from work and see if it's worth it to own a car. I have owned a car for a year on 19800 salary when dollar was 5xx and fuel skyrocketed from 97 to 145 and I was able to fuel and maintain it.

Corolla is a robber magnet, safer to buy Kia Rio 05 to 11 or Honda Civic in your price Range.

If you are certain you can avoid Gun point robbery and vandals then 03 to 07 Corolla due to cheaper parts than 08 upwards.
