Charlssey: Please I need your inputs.
I plan on getting a second car soon. My current car is a well maintained 96 Carina E for which I only use 10w40 Total 9000 or 0w40 Mobil 1 engine oil with almost 300,000km of mileage on its initial engine and auto transmission. I consider myself a "semi-car enthusiast" and I intend to keep the Toyota for as long as possible as a backup car and for personal reasons.
I wanted something more engaging; a toks 2007 Mercedes c230 or Nigerian used 2008 c300 (not 4matic) but my fiancee prefers a toks 2007/08 crv (2WD) or a 2005 Lexus rx 330 (FWD) . We only drive automatics and she is likely to use the second car more often than myself after marriage. Please could you compare the cars in terms of fuel economy, maintenance costs, durability, driving experience, cabin interior looks, availability of parts and technical know how, unavailability of premium fuel and practicality (in terms of an intending young family with a combined monthly income of about 400k residing in Uyo) .
She is ready to go with my choice though and our daily movements involve a total highway driving of about 50km
PS: I know the 4 cars are not in the same vehicle class.
Thanks The CRV should be on your list a very good fuel efficient CUV good ground clearance common engine fitted to a lot of Honda 4 cylinder vehicles reliable and easy to work on. The boot offers good cargo space and a practical vehicle. The Rx is a luxurious vehicle reliable and still good looking even though it is old. The 3.3L 3mzfe engine is also a good engine to work on and not expensive parts though not as cheap in maintenance to the crv and available in FWD or AWD. Robber and kidnappers magnet though. The 2007 benz is the last year in that body design also luxurious from factory and not a bad vehicle to own with its sporty look and miniature look ensures you get a tad average fuel economy. The NA V6 engine ensures easy engine work and not bad when you decide to fire on the highway, the balance and speed is ideal and showcases it's sportiness. The 2008 c class benz is a total different package first in its generation and a Nigerian used. I don't much about this vehicle but I am certain it would be most expensive to maintain on the long. If your carina is a wagon, you will already used to carrying load and the additional space it offers. pick your choice in the manner below CRV-RX-C230-C300 |

zsch: Please I would love a comparison between 20010: Scion Tc & Honda City you are supposed to compare the scion to the civic coupe. scion 2.4L engine 20/27 city 1.3/1.5/1.8L 26/34 The scion is a sports performance vehicle and a 2 door coupe. The city is a reliable point A to B vehicle both vehicles are reliable, the scion has a more upscale interior and sound system. interior wise they are both well built and the scion though a coupe has enough leg room and boot space. The scion is for a single individual who likes good things. The city is a family vehicle and good for city runs. |

lilkech: Sure about this?
we must be from different places then because I see many cases of women sharing a husband but not the other way round.
heaven knows I wouldn’t want to share my wife with any other man funny guy by default a male animal can have several mates a female can't. Also from your place will you be confident enough to confront your wife that she is going to have the other room assistant without heaven falling |

HeavenlyBang: Isn't the GX just an upscale 4runner? Buy the Pilot. Best value for money. the GX is much more than that, it only shares platform with the 4runner but bigger and luxurious. The pilot touring I doubt can surpass a well loaded GX470 but the pilot would be a better daily driver due to its engine configuration. |

ibbkiddsx: Please house I really want comparison on these SUVs. Because i intend to pick one. Toyota 4runner 08 model, Honda Pilot 09 model, Lexus gx470 06 model and Nissan Pathfinder 07 model. Fuel economy Durability Maintenance Interior suitability And which one can I purchase as Nigerian used All the model you are looking at is superior and fuel economy is identical in all trims but the pilot is the only one without a V8 engine the Gx is generally a v8, durability is same, maintenace is even identical but the lexus and toyota v8 is a bit above the remaining 3 though the pathy has a v8 too. Interior finish/loading/luxury/appeal gx470-pilot-pathfinder-4Runner you can purchase any nigerian used as long as it is inspected and certified in optimum condition, the pathfinder would be the cheapest to purchase, the Gx470 would be extremely expensive. |

Car Talk › Re: Durability Of Suzuki Every Mini by nurey(m): 11:33am On Sep 21, 2018 |
princeeze1: Pls house anyone with in depth knowledge of this suzuki mini bus, I was at ladipo to purchase one mainly for transport purpose, I was told it comes in either 4plugs or 3plugs, they say 4plugs is more durable but with scarce spare, while 3plugs has parts more readily avail and more fuel efficient. Again 3 plugs is said to come in 3 kinds, belt, chain and turbo of which belt was suggested as best. I need opinion other than that of sellers at ladipo, help a broda, thanks. A 3 plugs 600kg cargo capacity suzuki would be slow in acceleration when loaded with full passenger. A 4 plug is more appropriate. A chain driven engine is better and more durable than belt in the sense that the chain driven needs no maintenance while you need to change belt at certain intervals, belt can even cut while in motion (hope it's not an interference engine) also you may need to buy complete belt kit with pulleys when changing the belt. The only issue I have with chain is wrong engine oil use and change interval would spell doom for it but the chain is suppose to last the lifetime of the vehicle As for turbo I hope it's not a diesel variant sha I don't see where this engine carry turbo in all its lineup. The suzuki has i3 5xxcc, i3 6xxcc and i4 800cc. Only the daihatsu, suzuki carry (box like) and some other variants made it to 1.3L (1300cc). I see most people utilise the manual type even those that came with auto were converted to manual though I see people also use the auto for transport. Above all its a reliable vehicle if you intend to use it to carry heavy goods and not people mover I think the 1.3L carry or daihatsu variant would be better in order not to stress the engine much. |

TRYGO: Well, sorry, if I posted this in the wrong section. I have being checking through what relevant sections NL has that's relevant to this thread.
The moderator could move it to the relevant sections, if it might cause some...
I'm not trying to strike the string of ethnic sentiments here, or stir up a feeling of superiority, amongst the lots of ethnic groupings we have in the country.
Here's what I have noticed: 1. Was it a kind of policy, in the East, or Ndiigbo, for a master service thing, when for instance, after an apprentice has FAITHFULLY served his master, MUST be SETTLED? I don't know if that exists with other ethnic groups I know of.
2. You can go to a business environment, eg, Ladipo, and you'd see lots of Igbo business traders selling the same goods/services side by side, without problems of jealousy, and all that. But its difficult you see that, pardoned me, with the Yoruba's. At least I have had such experiences. They tend for instance, if you are located close to them perhaps in the same line of business, they just don't feel comfortable. If you're let's say, coming close to rent a shop, they asks you what sort of business do you want the shop for. If it's same with folks close by, they tell you, we can't assist with a shop.
My inference: appears the Igbo's are more open to competition (maybe they do understand the dynamics of market forces, or so); they tend to established their fellow family members, no matter how small.
NB: I brought this discuss up, because of what I saw in Ladipo yesterday.
A customer of mine there sells tools. He has successfully established his younger brothers in the tooling business in the market, and positioned them at different locations in the market.
Each time I see this guy, I feel happy for him.
He must be feeling fulfilled also!
Y are people always scared of COMPETITION, up to the extent of ... You know that should be.
Please....this isn't trying stir up sentiments. Its just that I admire the business model they employ. I don't know if it's a policy in the East though.
This is something similar to the Japanese business model that revolves around the families.
I wished other ethnic groups could copy this model of business, and see things change for the better.
Regards, Joseph 08066643532(call/WhatsApp) DW Nig Ltd www.dxta.net.ng The mistake you made is gender based research. Majority of these igbo businesses are owned by men. While in the southwest majority of the markets you visit are owned by women and women are generally competitive (reason why they can't share their husband). If you go to locations where yoruba men own the business and are many selling same stuff, you will realize they don't fight or challenge each other cause there is always enough to go round eg plank/wood business, metal and roofing business, printing business etc. Now as for the setting up of your apprehentice, the yoruba people don't actually take in relatives into business at young age, they take what we call servants who are there for the money not the knowledge so most just serve for a few years and leave for greener pastures while the children are going to school instead of learning the family trade. I will use my family as an example we are 6 and my mum sells provision since I have known her, still in the same market, I virtually grew up in the market and all 6 of us were trained with money realized from there as time goes on we were bored of the shop one by one, nobody wanted to go or rent his own shop and use the experience. Everybody wanted a white collar job. Because of the level of education and exposure nobody wants to be know as iya oni biscuit or iya oni sweet etc. in essence our way of life is different the Yoruba's use there money to educate their children and the children tow another line entirely neglecting what funded their education, it's the same issue we are facing in farming in southwest our fathers used cocoa money, cassava money to train us and after we are successful we don't look back into that line but tow another part entirely |
