look at how ancient Israel operated. The mosaic law was like their constitution. It was a normal thing to marry a virgin, and premarital sex was frowned upon. Infact the discovery that a bride is not a virgin was a very serious matter. So after you punish the offender, what next? What happens to the victim whose future is probably scarred? It wasn't the 21st century where people are more open minded in matters of sex and she could still go on to live a normal life.

The law that a man had to marry the girl he rapes was to protect the girl from what would be a stigma. It was more focused on the victim than the offender. You forced her, now you have to be with her for life and you dare not mistreat her. Other men would not want to marry her after the rape. So what next? Even in some Nigerian cultures, if a man gets a girl pregnant, her people insist he marries her. Why? To protect her future, considering their societal view on marriage and sex.

I have, and I dare say, far more than most readers. What is "demeaning" is subjective. The Bible does not encourage rape. One thing you should do when reading verses is to ponder on the context and try to get background info. The Israelite men under the Mosaic law could easily give their wives a certificate of divorce under many circumstances (Jesus corrected this later though. Adultery should be the only ground). Now for a man who rapes an unengaged girl (if she is engaged, he dies), he has to marry her and cannot divorce her on any ground whatsoever. He was also to pay a fine. How could that possibly be support for rape? Is there any nation with the death sentence for male rapists?

As regards the way the Bible portrays women... Well, the Bible is patriarchal and upholds a leadership structure that flows down from God to Jesus to the congregation to the man to his wife. However, even while strongly advocating gender roles, the Bible does not demean women. A man is to love his wife and never mistreat her. Some women like Deborah performed leadership roles. Some women like the daughters of Philip prophesied.

What the Bible does is that it tell you, look... The man should be the head. Still he has to earn the submission of his wife and is obligated to provide for his family.

There are two ways to interpret the data. Read the information very well. Since the percentage is given with a range, it's only reasonable to view it at a community level.

Presenting data in terms of range isn't unusual (not at all for the reason you claimed), but having a ridiculous 10 - 90% range is all shades of indecisive. Hearing that such an amateur study was carried out by two ministries together (you had better not be lying against them), I'm ashamed on behalf of Nigeria.

It was clearly stated there that they worked on 31 community samples nation wide. Now pay attention to the percentage. The rating is per-state.

That accounts for the range considering the number of communities per-state. Meaning different communities in a state have different prevalent rates.

For a more detailed information it's better to put it in form of a range. For example let's pick borno state with 10-90% prevalence rate. It means that if we go down to the community level, the least we can find is 10% while the max is 90%

lol. You keep roping yourself. They said 31 communities nationwide and you are talking about communities per state. There are 30 states listed, 31 including the FCT. Seven of them are marked No Study. Even if we assume that the '31 communities nationwide' are shared amongst the remaining 24 states with data, only 7 of them would have two sampled communities in them. Yet all states have ranged data.

Imagine having an average of 4,774 sampled women per community, and we are having round figure percentage data across all communities. Believe me when I say no one did any real study.

Your explanation is obviously wrong. If it were correct, that would make still make the statistics a shameless assumption based on inadequate data.
