@beaf How can Boko haram struggle be about oil? If they want oil they will be romancing the South and not killing them. Am sure they are not so daft not to know that what they are doing is only supporting a call for the division of the country. At least they have shown themselves more intelligent than our Commander in Chief and intelligent officers. |
Govt declares 24-hour curfew in Kano after suicide blast, explosions KANO (AFP) – The Kano State Government has declared 24-hour curfew after suicide blast, explosions Meanwhile security forces in Nigeria’s second-largest city, Kano, battled gunmen after a suicide blast killed at least 6 police officers and several other major explosions targeted them Friday. The city erupted in chaos, with some 20 explosions heard and at least five police offices thought to have been targeted. Local television was reporting that scores were feared dead in the attacks. Police were not responding to phone calls, but the state government announced a 24-hour curfew until further notice. It was not immediately clear who was behind the violence, though previous such attacks in Nigeria’s north have been blamed on Islamist group Boko Haram. A senior police source said the suicide blast occurred at a regional police headquarters. Residents reported blasts and gunfire at the state police headquarters and said that at least two other police posts appeared to have been targeted. An explosion was also heard in the area of a secret police office. “There was a suicide attack on the police zone 1 headquarters,” the senior police source said on condition of anonymity. “So far two officers have been killed and the bomber also.” The emergency agency confirmed several explosions, including one reported at the regional police office, but were unable to get immediate access due to blocked roads. “Scary. Multiple explosions at different spots targeting security agencies in Kano today,” Yushau Shuaib, spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency said in a text message. “Rescue workers evacuating victims to hospitals. No official casualty figures for now.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/01/govt-declares-24-hour-curfew-in-kano-after-suicide-blast-explosions/ |

BREAKING NEWS: Boko haram claims responsibility for Kano attacks The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnati Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, known popularly as the 'boko haram', have claimed responsibility for the multiple attacks on formations of security agencies across Kano state. Speaking by phone, the group claimed that the attacks were in response to the refusal of the Kano state government to release some of their members who had been arrested in the state. They said they were forced to resort to the attacks after an open letter they had sent late in 2011 to the Governor of Kano state, Mal. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; the Dan Masanin Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero had gone unheeded. Daily Trust earlier confirmed that the attack at the Zone 1 Police headquarters was carried out by a suicide bomber driving a Honda Civic. The bomber had succeeded in breaking through the gates of the building and rammed the car into the wall of a vocational centre in which wives of Police officer learn sewing. The building is adjacent to the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1. It was completely destroyed. According to one of the victims, he saw at least 3 dead bodies lying around. At least 30 others suffering from varying degrees of injuries have been taken to different hospitals across the state. The whole area has been cordoned off. Gunmen also stormed the headquarters of the State Police Command in Bompai and engaged the policemen there in a drawn out gun duel. Casualty figures are not yet known. A second blast is said to have gone off at the SSS headquarters after a first blast caused the security agents to cordon off the immediate vicinity of their office. There have also been reports of an explosion at a motor park along New Road in Sabon Gari area and another Police station at Yar'akwa along Zaria road. This adds to the number of explosions and gun attacks which have been rocking the city this evening. Earlier Daily Trust had reported the attacks on the Immigrations office at Farm Centre and the first and second explosions at the SSS headquarters along Sardauna Crescent. Casualty figures from these sites are not yet known. At the SSS headquarters, it is claimed that one of the attackers was killed and a second arrested in an earlier attack. Other sources report more explosions and our reporters on the ground are compiling all confirmed locations. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/images/stories/crisis/smoke%20from%20explosion%20at%20farm%20centre.jpg http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=152834:breaking-news-bok-haram-claims-responsibility-for-kano-attacks&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 |

Well we are watching. 24hrs countdown. |
I hope the OP is not mistaking this call/news below as a pronouncement from GEJ, cant find the news anywhere. Such news should have spread like wildfire by now Groups seek Alison-Madueke’s sacking About 10 civil society groups have called for the sacking of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to ensure proper probing of the oil industry without her interference. The groups, at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday applauded the expected probe of the oil sector but said the minister must know that there was no way the industry would be probed without her being asked some questions. Among the groups that made the demand were the Occupy Nigeria group, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, the Save Nigerian Group, Anti-Corruption League, Nigerian Youth League, Youth Democratic Front, Reclaim Nigeria and Initiative for Transparency and Accountability. Presenting the position of the groups, Mrs. Roz Ben-Okagbue said the news of the expected probe of the oil industry by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission was a welcome development. She said, “We applaud this move by the petroleum minister. However, we regret that her action does not go far enough as it lacks the transparency and seriousness the issue deserves. “The petroleum minister is well aware that a probe of the petroleum ministry is a probe of her. http://www.indepthnigeria.com/headlines/groups-seek-alison-maduekes-sacking/ |

canuck:Shame! ![]() I think most of those subsidy fund went into 2011 campaign and GEJ and his ministers were aware of all these. That was why they refused to let customs keep the documents. Imagine allowing clearance without attaching an invoice. Now they want Nigerians to pay more for their corruption. ![]() Nigerians must keep talking about this till we get what we deserve. |
The good thing is that all these information are coming out to us, what we the public and the media do with them is more important than what the NASS will do about them. |
Interesting! |
So the 'rascals' are the ones enjoying the subsidy and not the man spending N1B to eat? Very silly and daft statement to make. Its about time someone advice this man and his wife to only read prepared speech in the public. |
