In Lagos, there was an election in 2003. PDP was keen on winning Lagos by rigging, but AD had to watch and monitor every ballot from the polling boots to the collating centres. That was why PDP couldnt take over Lagos like they did other western states.

50% of Lagos is Igbo? huh grin grin grin

I laugh in Lokoja grin

No problem, how about you people testing this figure at the polls? Will like to see how many Igbo LG chairmen Lagos will produce

or if you are sure you are more than 50%, how about gunning for the Governor seat, afterall democracy is a game of number.

I remember 2003 election, i was in Lagos, and some Igbo came up for counselor-ship and chairmanship election around Okota and Isolo area

They claimed there are more Igbo people in okota than Yoruba people, so they rallied round themselves, but they lost woefully.

^^^no excuse for the man I just dont care about him, hense never mentioned a thing about him. My concern is the woman I just cant stand it when women dont represent their ish very well. Married girl should understand her role very well and be able to handle her own business. We love our friends but I sure we dont want them to have full access iin our homes and be cooking for our husbands.

I am sorry but am not going to point any finger at man in this case, if wife wants to act all naive so be it. You may come back here and tell me that I should trust my man in any given situation, but then again I'll have to ask if some situations are worth it?

I am not trying to play games with my marriage trying too hard to please by bored friends,  I am trying to have it.

I am most willing to bet my life that best friend here never told her married friend that hubby actually touched her behind and watch that space she's gonna keep coming back for more.

These are the kind of things and women that make married/men believe that its okay to cheat, cos there's always somebody willing to do it with them.

Actually I am very tired of blaming men for this cheating thing cos women have it in them to set the stage.

I can tell you now that guy here is going to tap in there and hope it remains a secret and should poo hit the furn even the wifes parents will tell her just how silly she has been
chaircover:
^^^^^^

I see some of your point however a man with poor morals, self control and lacks integrity will sleep with anything in skirt.

This kind of man will try it on with any woman who crosses his path and if it hadnt been his wifes best friend, it would have been his sons teacher, the youth corper posted to his office, the girl serving in Mr Biggs etc.

He is not a fussy man, anything goes and it wont take much to bring his JT to attention & for him to declare that he has fallen in LUST Love.
I kinda agree with both of you. But seriously, may be it is about time women take responsibility for each other, I mean, be each other sisters' keeper.

If all women say No to married men, then there will not be unfaithfulness in marriages. These randy men succeed because they always find willing women.

All these women sleeping with married men, do they ever think they will marry one day? and how will they feel with other women sleeping with their husbands

The OP is foolish, the wife is naive and unwise and the wife's friend is also not being fair to her friend.
FamilyRe: My New Girlfriend Said My Dad Is Handsome Than Me by OAM4J: 4:37pm On Jul 31, 2010
zayhal:
poster,

don't listen to those comments above. Your girlfriend's statement was just a compliment. My father-in-law is almost 100 and the first time I saw him, I told hubby he has a very strong and handsome father. Hubby appreciated my compliment and that was all.

Till date, my hubby still comments on how youthful and beautiful my mum is. So I should go hit my head on the rock because of that? or accuse him of saying my mum is more beautiful than me?

Some people need some growing up to do, really. cool
'your father is strong and handsome' is not same as 'your father is stronger and more handsome than you' why the comparison if it is a compliment?

Also 'your mum is youthful and beautiful' is not same as 'your mum looks more youthful and more beautiful than you', how will you feel with your hubby always telling you the later? happy? I dont think so.
PoliticsRe: Samuel Ladoke Akintola by OAM4J: 4:14pm On Jul 31, 2010
Katsumoto:
Awolowo was the leader of the Action Group and was premier of the western region. In 59, the AG asked him to go to the federal house of representatives, he duly obliged and switched positions with Akintola. As leader of the party, it was Awo's right to provide direction of the party but as soon as Akintola became premier, he started doing things his own way rather than follow the party's directives.

1. In the Economic mission trip of 1961 to Europe, Akintola changed the party representatives and took his own men. Awolowo looked the other way so as not to have a confrontation.
2. Then came the renewal of board appointments in the Western region. Again Akintola replaced all of them with his own loyalists. Again Awo looked the other way to avoid a confrontation. Akintola was clearly trying to turn the party into his own.
3. Akintola tried to increase the contribution of locals to secondary schools which Awo resisted. Akintola was lamblasted by the press for trying to do that.
4. Then Akintola tried to get the party to drop its ideology of democratic socialism. He wasn't happy with the idea of the Western govt bank-rolling many projects.
5. Akintola and Ayo Rosiji (National secretary of AG) were stripped of their positions at the AG annual convention in Jos in 1962. Awo subsequently asks Akintola to resign his position at a meeting with the leaders of the western region and mid-western. Akintola writes to Sir Adesoji Aderemi (Governor) of the region and to the speaker of the region's House of Assembly calling for the dissolution of the House and
for an emergency meeting of the House to test his popularity; but is ignored.
6. The AG parliementary body elects Soroye Adegbenro as the new premier of the region. Akintola calls on Balewa to sack Adegbenro. Governor states that Akintola had been sacked while Akintola states that he sacked the Governor. Akintola, consequently goes to Ibadan high court to restrain Aderemi from sacking him.
7. There was a riot in the Western House of Assembly in May 1962 caused by Akintola and his suporters; Adedibu makes his entrance as a thug. Akintola and Ayo Rosiji are expelled from the party subsequently.
8. Akintola's new pals, Balewa and Bello, declare a state of emergency in the west and dissolve the western house and sack Adegbenro and Sir Aderemi. Akintola subsequently wins his lawsuit and returns as premier in 1963. He wins his lawsuit as Law luminary, Rotimi Williams, is barred by a petition raised by Akintola, from representing Sir Aderemi.
9. With Awo in prison due to trumped up charges, Akintola forms a new party, NNDP with Ayo Rosiji and recruits a few NCNC heavyweights such as Akinjide, Akinloye, TOS Benson. NNDP then aligns with NPC and rigs the election in 1965.

That was also the genesis of Oyo politicians always teaming up with Northerners in subsequent elections. Little wonder why Akintola, Akinjide, Akinloye, Adedibu are hated in the West while Awo is still reverred today by all.

I am not saying it was all Akintola's fault. Awo had some minor faults as well. For instance, Awo in a show of strength, visited the Oshun division which happens to be Akintola's homebase against advice from AG leaders such as Rotimi Williams. But the fact still remains that it is only an unpopular man that will require the help of outsiders to be able to govern his house. Akintola lost out in the West because the people did not want his leadership or direction.
Interesting. Have had bit and pieces of this story before, but not well synchronized as you have done. Are you an historian?

Also what do you know about the coca-cola deal? heard it was part of the rift between the two.

ola olabiy:
katsumoto,
be more objective, please.
university of ife was built dring akintola's term. a plaque erected to celebrate him has now been removed at the said uni. who did that? also, you need to undertand what politics is all about. it is not a clean game (no game is ever clean). in politics, no permanent friendship, but permanent interest. i am baba awo's fan. i see awo as a technocrat with a discerning mind. but, akintola was great too. where you have great minds, there could be ensuing unrest.
be informed that akintola was, may be, the best orator western nigeria ever produced.
just accord him that 'bit' of respect that he deserves.
got me drift?
Really? why was it now named after Awolowo instead of Akintola?

But i have seen many couples do it in the west, especially when the hubby income is less than what a child-minder will collect. And it works good for them. But Not me.

@ OAM4J

Right on: growth in money supply may be evidence of GDP growth but it’s not proof of GDP growth. In reality, as velocity and output tend to be constant, money supply tells us far more about inflation/deflation pressures in an economy than anything else.

Thanks a lot man. Velocity of money, GDP, NI, Per CI, and all other economical tools have their flaws and have been proved as unreliable tools in third world countries.
We dont want to think in an elitist style here and ignore the teeming populace said to depend on 5% per day by the same IMF. It would paradoxical.

But seriously, paddy_lo still has some points and hes right in someways. Economical Growth and Quality of Life are 2 separate things.

@paddy_lo I still love you man, maybe we can hook up when you hit naija?

PoliticsRe: Fg’s 7% Growth Report Questioned by OAM4J: 7:25pm On Jul 17, 2010
4 Play:
In case anyone is befuddled by this debate, let me try and explain it as succinctly as possible in the way I understand the question of money supply.

Under the Quantity Theory of Money, Money Supply (M) multiplied by the number of times money changes hands (Velocity) is equals to Price/Inflation (P) multiplied by the Quantity of output (T)

MV = PT

If the money supply is 1 trillion  Naira and velocity is 5, then MV is equals to 5 trillion Naira. It follows that if output is 1 billion products then average price is 5000 Naira, therefore, PT = 5 trillion Naira.

From the above, if the average price increased 20% to 6000 Naira or output quantity increased to 1.2 billion, that will make PT = 6 trillion Naira. In this case, MV will have to increase to 6 trillion Naira by, for instance, the money supply (M) increasing to 1.2 trillion Naira.

The problem is that Paddy Lo claims that an increase in M is proof of an increase in T! He is engaging in a circular reasoning. In reality, an increase in M can be a result of an increase in P (inflation), which I think is the case in Nigeria, as V & T(changes in velocity and output) tend to be relatively constant as monetarists insist. If you don’t accept that V & T are constant, that introduces an additional element of uncertainty as changes in M can be a result of changes in V, T or P. Either way, you can’t assume the contentious issue, change in GDP, as a premise in your proof . Effectively, Paddy LO is making the absurdly circular argument : “ Nigeria’s GDP growth is strong (proposition to be proved). The fact that Nigeria’s GDP growth is strong (unproven proposition converted to premise) can be seen in strong M2 growth”.

Yes, growth in money supply may be evidence of GDP growth but it’s not proof of GDP growth. In reality, as velocity and output tend to be constant, money supply tells us far more about inflation/deflation pressures in an economy than anything else.

If money supply, going by the cited CBN figures, increased 22%, that could simply mean that inflation increased 18% and GDP growth was 4%. We don’t really know as the Govt official inflation rate of 11% is questionable. In addition, the banking crises and its attendant effect on credit can reduce velocity which will require the CBN to pump more money into the system thereby increasing money supply. Only a fool fails to exercise caution in accepting Govt stats.
I think this should be the logical conclusion for this debate, or so it seems to me.
