PoliticsRe: Panic In The Police Force: Igp Onovo Might Be Sacked And Replaced Soon. by OAM4J: 6:44pm On Jul 17, 2010
Beaf:
Like I said earlier, we need a Ribadu to totally uproot the police leadership, Onovo, his deputies and their equivalents at state level. replace the bunch of clowns with graduates and forward looking people more attuned to todays World and committed to the future of the country.
The same should happen to the EFCC.

Thats the job I suggest the Presidency gives Ribadu without blinking an eye.
I agree with you. am sure there are still many Ribadus in the system. I just hope that GJ has the eagle eye to fish them out, else we will always go in cycle

One of the plus of Obj govt was his ability to fish out many good hands that helped him piloted the affairs of the country.

To we laymen, money supply isn't about GDP, its more to do with credit availability. To economics grads like paddylo, no?
well with my little economics, I also know that increase credit availability also grows the economy and the GDP.

But I will listen to the experts, am loving the debate.

FamilyRe: Whats Ur Opinion On Adoption? by OAM4J: 4:11pm On Jul 16, 2010
deagleng:
Please House Advice Me, What should I do?

I am a man, 40 years of age, my spouse is 38; I got married nine years ago. My spouse had given birth to a baby girl while she was in Secondary school; the girl finished her SS 3 this year.

But since I got married to my wife, she had been unable to conceive. We’ve tried medical and native drugs none worked.

I suggested to my wife that we should adopt a baby, she refused, I suggested this because I love children and I want to have the one I could call mine.

I suggested to my wife nine years ago when we got wedded that she should let her daughter stay with us, she refused, the girl stayed with her parents.

Recently after, thorough medical examinations, it was discovered that I have low spermatozoa count, yet my wife did not cooperate with me on the said adoption.

Advice me, what do I do?
whao! this is so complicated.

As much as I think your wife should be a lot more sensitive, it is also not good for her to accept to adopt a child she will not see and treat as her child.

Adoption only works when both parties believe in it and want it, it can not be forced on people.
RomanceRe: Toasting Lines You Used To Use In The Olden Days by OAM4J: 3:52pm On Jul 16, 2010
here it goes - my uncle actually taught me this line

me: hi or excuse me
girl: hi
me: sorry do you know Jane or are you related to Jane (Jane is a beautiful, popular celebrity)
girl: no
me: you look just like her
girl: quiet or says thank you
me: Can you be my 'future partner'?  shocked(gosh, did I use to say that? huh) grin grin grin
girl: No
me: You know if I miss you I will be the most miserable boy in town  grin grin
me: I love you so much, you are the key to the padlock of my happiness  grin grin
me: You are the only flower in my garden of love  grin grin
me: you are the sugar in my tea, bal, bla, bla, bla
girl: ok I will think about it
me: Pls I would not be able to sleep tonight if you dont give me an answer now
girl: ok I have heard you.
me: no, i want you to tell me you agree
after much persuasion
girl: ok i agree

to imagine those lines actually worked most of the times  grin.

I wept when i watched this video, she is one heartless woman and I wondered why on earth she made fun of the fact that he can't see?

Yes people see things n pple in diff ways but if you want to leave, Just leave without using their weak points against them

This woman has been mixing with the wrong people, those people will give her what she is looking for but at the end of the day "Had i known" will be her cry.

A man has never hit you for one day, a man carries you like an egg and wouldnt mind cooking 24/7 even though he is blind.

Like the judge said "How dare she be so self centered?"  Men will do to her daughters what shes done to this man, it will come back to bite her when she leasts expects it.
I can understand with the fact that she ran out of love for him, and she is not used to being loved, but to make fun/disrespect such a kind man cos of his sight is heartless and insensitive.

Am happy with the way the judge handled that part. My take is that she doesn't deserve him.

I have no problem standing by a skyscrapper built on solid ground. I prefer this to one built on reclaimed soil whether by dutch engr or not.

What we are talking abt is the necessity. A new biz district doesnt have to be at VI. Lagos still has tens of kms of land that can be dev for that purpose.

This is an ego trip by the CEO of a coy that feels it has arrived. We are simply asking him to be realistic and spend his shareholder's money wisely.
What guarantee do you have that you will wake up tomorrow? NONE!

Imagine someone advising your parent not to bother sending you to school because you might die anytime? Rubbish advice, right? believe me, you sound like those type of advisers.

Life is a risk, deal with it.

Here again Garth,  the Marc Chagouri guy confirming AGAIN that developers are not restricted to building just highrise buildings on their plots. It is up to the individual developers to build what they want as long as zoning laws/guidelines are respected. . . by the way, zoning does not really force folks to build up.
you highlighted the part that suited you, but omitted the part that stated clearly their expectation for taller buildings. besides how many people will buy a land in such area and at such an high price only to build a bungalow? Well there might be some but not many Nigerians are that crazy.

FROM THE DEVELOPER EMAIL

We expect developers to build up in Eko Atlantic. Taller building serving the needs of residential, commercial, retail, hotel and office space. The city is zoned mixed use. Developers are free to build to their plan, so as long as it adheres to the guidelines stipulated by our planning department.

You mean the state should have said to the developers, instead of injecting tens on billions of dollars and creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of Lagosians, why don't you take over the state's responsibilities and go build road, schools and hospitals which of course the state is doing on a daily basis. Is any other state in Nigeria delivering what Fashola is delivering? Your mindless argument is very mute.

Btw, how many state in Nigeria and even in Africa have a light rail system under construction, a ten lane freeway with BRT and rail system (First in Africa) under construction? Please tell me.

Running your mouth off as if the state is not attending to it's core responsibilities because they did what governments all over the world do (Attracting investments and jobs to promote development and broaden it's tax base.) is not only silly, it's backward, ill informed thinking and irresponsible way of thinking.

I seriously hope non of you people gets behind any desk to administrate the lives of animals talk less citizens of you villages.
Exactly, like i told ezeagu, he must be a genius to think the Governor should simply tell any investor that want to build a 'Paradise-City' in Lagos state to either support/invest in his 'pressing' state projects or go to hell with his billions

It is a major ego trip. Nothing more.If things dont go well there could be colossal loss in life and property of a kind we are too poor, too corrupt, too short-sighted to deal with.

Lagos is not desperately short of land to warrant a project of this kind
Why must you be a pessimist? why must you think things will not go well as planned?

BTW, if things do not go well, who suffers the consequences? The people and govt of Lagos state or the private investors.

How many times do you people want thIS screamed into your heads; THIS IS A PRIVATE INVESTMENT.

I define progress by the ability to not have children manning boats to get to school, I define progress by the ability to at least tar up all your roads or get some 'private' company to do that before you start building districts in the Atlantic, I define progress by the ability to adapt to certain situations, e.g develop the swamp slums into something that could be tour-able, before building distractions in the sea. No one has said what this project has over any project that would have been planned in land. There is space if you fix your place up. I don't know any other reputable city whose inhabitants share the same standard of living as Lagos, yet their government is building cities in the sea without focussing solely on the most pressing problems.
And while you go about with your petty/social development projects, you simply tell any Mr Money-Miss-Road that wants to build a 'Paradise-City' in your state to either support/invest in your petty 'pressing' projects  or go to hell with his billions

You must be a Genius!

You can't attach a state of the art bungalow to an Aba block of flats. Does that explain it?
like every city and region of each state you have visited all over the world being same? huh

BTW, how do you define development and progress? let me guess, 'repeating the same thing over and over again' huh

I dont know how i miss this thread until now.

Kudos to you Paddy_lo, babapupa, Gbawe and others for holding forte the argument in support of this project.

I mean what problem can a private funded project like this give excepts benefits galore.

It is at no cost to the government, no loss to the people, or threat to the environment

but guarantee development, investments, job, and economic growth

What else can one ask for? How can anyone be against this?
