The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse  (German for "special class" and abbreviated as "S-Klasse" ) is a series of full-sized luxury flagship vehicles produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz.

Apart from being the first car in Europe to incorporate airbags and three point seatbelts,it has also pioneered many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features, and safety systems. Predecessor models includes the W180 ,W111 and the larger W108.

The top-of-the-line car and one time World's best-selling luxury sedan has been manufactured through the years by many parents that includes Daimler-Benz  ( 1972-1998), DaimlerChrysler from (1998-2007) and Daimler AG (2007 to present).

The South Korean-only Genesis G90 Limousine starts at $138,100 - that's roughly ₦50m ,minus the destination and delivery charge . Genesis motor didn’t say anything about bringing the flagship model to overseas markets.

After years of testing , Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport in France has officially launched an outdoor automated robotic valet system that helps customers park their cars at the parking lot .

The self-driving robot ,named Stan from Stanley Robotics, has the width of a small SUV. It has a large bed like those found on a forklift that slides beneath a vehicle to lift it off the ground.

To use the system, users simply drive their cars into a special garage-like box , make a parking reservations and leave their cars. The robot then moves the vehicle into a free parking space - it is more efficient at parking cars than humans .

For added convenience, the system will use your flight information to make your vehicle accessible shortly before your flight lands at the airport.

According to the airport website, booking a parking space managed by Stanley Robotics for a week on the normal P5 parking lot costs €50.40 while P5+ costs €52.20

For now, 4 Stan robots will cover 500 parking spaces in Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport, but plans are in place to expand the system in Lyon to 6,000 spaces.

In January, London’s Gatwick airport announced that it would soon start experimenting with the same parking system later this year.

The crashed four-month-old plane that killed all 157 passengers and crew on board is the second brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 airliner in recent months to be involved in a fatal crash.

As a result, airlines around the world made the decision to ground their fleets of Boeing 737 Max airliners. Some safety regulators, including Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, have outrightly banned the plane from entering its airspace.

According to the credit rating agency, Moody, Boeing's operating profit margin is ₦4.3b ($12m) to ₦5.4b ($15m) on a dollar of sales for on each 737 Max 8 it delivers to customers.

"The 737 is very profitable to Boeing because of the high volume, the resulting production efficiencies and the amortization of the capital investment over the program's decades"

"Boeing does not disclose specifics, but we estimate that the average operating margin dollars recognized for each delivery of a Max 8 aircraft at between $12 million and at least $15 million or more even at this point in the model's life"

Boeing lists the 737 Max 8 at ₦43.8 ($121.6m). However, according to industry research from Teal Group , buyers usually receive a 50% to 55% discount on the planes.

The 737 MAX is currently built alongside the previous generation 737NG (Boeing 737-600,700,800, and 900) at Boeing's Renton, Washington factory.

By the end of 2018, Boeing ramped up production of the 737 to 52 aircraft a month. This year, it plans to produce 57 a month.

Last year, Boeing delivered 256 MAX aircraft to customers, representing nearly half of all 737 deliveries.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the company's airliner division, has a backlog 5,870 planes valued at more than $400 billion (or ₦144t) .

As it currently stands, the 4,699 yet-to-be-delivered 737s represent 80% of that backlog.

A baby girl was born in Sokoto with Arabic inscriptions on her body and this development has left everyone in awe.

The child has Arabic inscriptions on her chest, thigh, and back as though they were tattooed there. She also has a birthmark that looks like the crescent-shaped moon - one of the symbols of Islam - on her ankle.

The child was born on March 2, 2019. Her birth has turned her parents' home into a sort of Mecca as people troop in to see the unusual occurrence.

The baby is the fourth child of her parents, who have been married for 16 years now. According to Daily Trust, the child's father, a Mobile Police officer named Alhaji Hussaini is based in Katsina. The mother Saratu Yusuf, 24, of Garkan Sardauna Sokoto North Local Government, told Caliphate Trust that she never experienced anything unusual during the pregnancy.

She said:

The pregnancy went very smoothly much more than others. I had no complication, from the beginning to the day I gave birth at Police Clinic along Barth Road Sokoto.

The labour started at about 6 am and delivered exactly at 6pm.

We did not notice anything at the hospital until we got home when my elder sister wanted to bathe her, she discovered the inscription on her chest, thigh and back. She also has a crescent sign on her ankle.

So many people trooped to our house from within and outside the state metropolis, from Wurno, Rabah and other Local government areas. It got to a point when I had to flee my matrimonial home to my parents’ house to escape people’s disturbance.

The child's mother also pointed out another peculiar thing about her "miracle baby". She said the child can’t have her ear lobe pierced for earrings because several attempts to pierce the child's ear lobe have proved unsuccessful.

The father, who was in Katsina at the time of the delivery, said on receiving news of the baby, he was so full of anxiety that he could not even sleep on that day.

Preparations are being made for a naming ceremony for the baby. It should have been held earlier but due to the father's absence, it was scheduled for Saturday, March 16.

Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar was amazed when the baby was taken to his Palace. He expressed total submission to Allah for His wonders. The royal father donated N100, 000, a ram, and 5 pieces of clothing materials to the family. He urged the mother to take exceptional care of the child.

Bentley is recalling over a thousand Bentley Mulsanne luxury sedans because the rear seat belt anchor may detach in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

To fix the problem ,technicians at Bentley dealership will improve the strength of the rear seat belt mounting by adding an additional reinforcement panel to the body structure for free.

The recalled flagship of the Bentley range is owned by popular Nigerian blogger,Linder ikeji. Luckily for the young blogger, her bespoke 2019 Bentley Mulsanne is not among the model years recalled.

The recall only affect 1,059 regular Mulsanne and the Mulsanne Speed in total , all of them in the five-seat configuration and manufactured between January 2012 and September 2018.

Boeing has unveiled its giant Boeing 777X to its employees in a low key event at Everett  Washington. The aircraft maker had planned to unveil the jetliner on Wednesday, but delayed the debut following the crash of its aircraft in Ethiopia.

The no-media event was simplified to respect the recent loss of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, a Boeing 737 MAX 8. These photos were taken by a Boeing employee and provided to Sam Chui.

At 252 feet, the 777X is Boeing’s largest commercial aircraft.It is designed to replace the 747 series.It is so massive that the wings don’t actually fit into normal airline gates at airports.Boeing has designed a totally new feature – folding wing tips.

The 777Xs massive engine is the biggest ever on a commercial aircraft and have a diameter bigger than the Boeing 737 Max series.

Boeing is building two models of the 777X family: the larger 425 seat 777X-9 that will fly 7527 nautical miles (13,940 km) on a ‘single tank’ and the longer range 777X-8, which can seat 350 passengers and has a range capability of 11,645 nautical miles (21,570 km) .

This particular launch model 777x-9 aircraft will undergo flight tests, and then will be repainted for Lufthansa late this year.

Other airlines that have ordered the 777X are Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, All Nippon Airlines and the British Airways.

The current orders for the Boeing 777X aircrafts is 53 for the longer range 777-8 version and 273 for the larger carbin 777-9 version.

US Federal prosecutors have charged two men with conspiring to steal recalled Volkswagens and Audis vehicles stored at the Pontiac Silverdome parking lot.

The two men, 42 year old Romane Porter and 41 year old Daniel Onorati, conspired with others to steal 61 vehicles that includes Volkswagen Touaregs, Audi Q7s and Volkswagen Passats made between 2011 and 2015, in 2017

They were loaded onto transport vehicles and hauled to other states, including Kentucky and Indiana .At least one vehicle was shipped out of the country.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement:

“These individuals were bold in their behavior in stealing such a large volume of vehicles from a well-known location"

"These criminals deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law"

Porter is serving a minimum five-year sentence for assault and will be arraigned next month. Onorati was arraigned last week and released on unsecured bond.

They face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of sale or possession of stolen motor vehicles and up to five years in prison if convicted of a conspiracy charge.

The vehicle thefts drew headlines at the time along with reports that Volkswagen was storing thousands of vehicles at the Silverdome parking lot that the automaker was forced to buy back because the cars utilized a device to cheat U.S. emissions tests. 

Volkswagen paid over ₦2.7trillion ( or $7.4billion) through mid-February last year for all the repurchased vehicles. The company has destroyed some of them and has been able to resell others after making repairs.

Toyota is finally going to the moon... The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has teamed up with Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) to build a pressurized self-driving rover that will land on the lunar surface in 2029.

The six-wheeled transporter ,about the size of two minibuses, will be able to carry two humans (or four in case of emergency) for a distance of 10,000 kilometers using solar power and Toyota's fuel cell technology.

The rover will come fitted with 13 square meters of habitable space, and the astronauts on board will be able to take their suits off inside the vehicle as they explore. It will land on the moon before the human expedition arrives, and travel independently to meet them.

This announcement comes two months after China became the first country to land a rover on the far side of the moon.China recently revealed its plans for a solar power station in space.

This special car for everyone is named the Baby II - because back in 1926, Ettore Bugatti built a half-size Type 35 for his four-year-old son, Roland. It was such a hit with customers visiting the factory that he ended up building 500 between 1927 and 1936.

The Baby II is a three-quarter scale replica of the original Type 35, but with an up-to-date electric drivetrain underneath.It has a rear-wheel-drive,a limited-slip differential and regenerative braking, along with a few power settings like the “Child Mode” that limits it to 1.4 hp and a top speed of 12.4 mph, and “Adult Mode” that brings it up to 5.4 hp and 28 mph.

Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations has revealed the all-new new version of its bulletproof and explosion-proof road tank called the Range Rover Sentinel.

On July 17, 1989, the world's first stealth or low-observable bomber, the Northrop B-2 Spirit , took to the skies for the very first time. The 2-crew heavy penetration strategic bomber is designed to deploy both conventional and thermonuclear weapons.

The bat-winged exotic flying machine can spy on enemy territory or level targets with its heavy payload of bombs without been seen or detected by a radar.

The airframe design and its anti-reflective paint can absorb incoming signals from ground and sky-based air defense systems, preventing the supposed-enemy radar from detecting its location or presence.

1) The F-117 was built to fight, but the iconic B-2 Stealth Bomber was built to nuke. It was designed to carry up to 16 2,400-pound nuclear bombs deep into guarded Soviet airspace...should the need have ever arisen.

2) The B-2 is flat for a reason
The more vertical surfaces on a plane, the easier it is to spot on a radar screen. That's why the B-2 was designed as flat as possible, without a traditional tail.

3) The B-2 Stealth Bombers is covered in tiny iron balls that resonates with incoming radar waves, absorbing their energy as heat. The dark paint color, meanwhile, makes the B-2 difficult to spot during its late-night missions.

A Thai Airways Boeing 777-300ER was forced to dump thousands of gallons of fuel in the English Channel before making an emergency landing at London Heathrow after a warning light appeared, alerting the pilot that the cargo hold door was not shut securely.

According to the Boeing website, the aircraft can carry up to 47,890 gallons in its fuel tank, which can cost upwards of £60,000 (roughly ₦28m) to refuel.

Engineers and maintenance staff  eventually found that the door was secure but there was a problem with the warning light system.

Flight Lieutenant Pratana Patanasiri, Vice President Aviation Safety, Security and Standards Department, said that the plane was at 8000 feet before the incident when the light appeared.

He said:

"The sensor for the cargo hold door look system showed an irregularity.

"Flight engineers took about two hours to check the whole aircraft. They found the notification light issue, there were no hazardous irregularities.

"The flight departed again at 00.32 yesterday (14/02). All crew and 344 passengers arrived in Bangkok safely on the same day at 18.14, local time."

Reason why the plane had to drop so much fuel before landing :
According to wiki, Fuel dumping  (also known as fuel jettison) is a procedure used by aircraft in certain emergency situations before a return to the airport shortly after takeoff, or before landing short of its intended destination (emergency landing) to reduce the aircraft's weight.

Generally dumping happens at a high enough altitude for it to dissipate – it doesn't reach the ground in liquid form or come raining down on people.

Volvo announced on Monday that it will be limiting the top speed on all of its vehicles to 180 km/h (112 mph) in a bid to reduce traffic fatalities. The new speed limit will be implemented on all model year 2021 cars.i.e from 2020.

The electronic restriction will prevent drivers from accelerating to the top speeds of up to 155mph many Volvos can reach. This move is part of Volvo's vision that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car by 2020
