Boeing has launched the new BBJ 777X Boeing Business Jet model that is set to be most efficient twin-engine jet and the biggest passenger plane ever seen.

It can fly more than half way around the world on a full tank without stopping.The 350 and 425 passengers commercial versions were launched earlier in the year.

Boeing said customers can choose between the BBJ 777-8 and BBJ 777-9 versions of the Jets,with the BBJ 777-8 offering the longest range of 11,645 nautical miles (21,570 km) while the BBJ 777-9 (equipped with the most efficient twin-engine jet in the world) will have a larger cabin .

Head of Boeing Business Jets said:

"Our most exclusive customers want to travel with the best space and comfort and fly directly to their destination. The new BBJ 777X will be able to do this like no other airplane before it, redefining ultra-long range VIP travel"

Flights at the United Kingdom's Gatwick Airport were cancelled for more than 30 hours after a 2 drones was spotted flying around the vicinity within a 12-hour period.

Over 750 flights were cancelled and more than 100,000 stranded due to the fear that the remote-controlled aerial vehicles ( drones ) might collide and crash into an airliner's jet engine ,propeller, wings or even crash through the windscreen.

Before the drones disappeared from the sky, the police and military personnel were tracking the signal through  triangulation in order to hunt down the criminal ,who could face up to five years in jail.

Some airports use high powered radio waves from Anti-UAV Defense System system to disable drones by blocking their communication and switching them off in mid-air.

This is the moment a drunk and dazed Road Safety Officer rear-ended a multi-million Naira Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon in Lagos .

Shortly after the collision,the owner of the all-roader SUV and probably passerbys were seen expressing their anger on the officer that works for an outfit whose main functions was to make the highways safe for motorists and other road users ,and not to endanger it.

The officer appears dazed, probably due to the thoughts of the impending cost of repairs or/and the effects of "alcohol"

Even based on the short clip above , the officer's car,expecially the bonnet part , appears to be in much worse shape than the rugged German-made SUV.

102-year-old Australian great-grandma,Irene O’Shea,has completed a skydiving jump from an aeroplane to become the oldest skydiver in the world. 

She broke the previous record set by her in 2017 when she was 101 and had her first dive on her 100th birthday in 2016.

She jumped from about 14,000 feet at SA Skydiving's Langhorne Creek Dropzone with an instructor and descended at about 136 mph before making a smooth landing in front of 50 family and friends. 

But the fearless mother of two did all this not to set records but to raise awareness and money to fight the Motor Neuron Disease that killed her daughter ten years ago at the age of 67 years.

Her skydive last year raised about $8,600 and aims to raise another $10,000 from this years jump,with the money going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association of South Australia.

Kazakhstan's Air Astana has unveiled a new Brazilian-made Embraer 190-E2 aircraft with an incredible snow leopard paint job which is intended to draw global attention to the threat of extinction faced by the large wild mountain cat .

I know scenes like this rarely happen in Nigeria. But imagine going about your normal day and all of a sudden, you saw hundreds to thousands of Naira notes land in front of you .

This is exactly what happened in New Jersey as the faulty rear doors of Brink’s armored truck spilled over half a million dollar notes on the highway .

The incident caused at least 2 crashes ,minor fender benders and a major traffic backup, as people scrambled out of their cars to pickup the free flying money.

An observer at the scene said:

“The driver of the Brink’s truck looked like he was laughing and crying at the same time"

“He wasn’t mad and yelling at people. He just looked like he thought it was so absurd.”

Police say two bags of cash fell out, one contained $140,000 and the other had $370,000. They are currently looking at social media, videos and photos to try to identify people and cars that could be tracked down in order to recover about $300,000 (₦109m) that is still missing.

A similar incident happened in May this year when a Brink’s armored truck spilled an estimated $600,000 (approximately ₦218m) onto an interstate highway in Indianapolis,USA.

DAIMLER ,which currently owns Mercedes-Benz,Smart ,Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner , Fuso , Western Star , Bharatbenz , Mercedes-Benz Vans, Mercedes-Benz Buses ,Setra and Thomas Built, says it will buy ₦8.3trillion worth of electric vehicle batteries through 2030 in order to electrify all its brands.

It also plans to open six new battery assembly plants around the world, including three in Germany and one each in China, Thailand and the United States.

We plan a total of 130 electrified variants at Mercedes-Benz Cars by 2022. In addition, we will have electric vans, buses and trucks"

The electrified variants will include the all-electric vehicles,hybrid and plug-in hybrids like the new Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell plug-in hybrid SUV that is powered by hydrogen fuel and batteries.

Daimler's first all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV that will be launched next year uses battery cells that is made up of 60% nickel, 20% manganese and 20% cobalt.

It also plans to make its own batteries for its future electric cars that will contain little or no Cobalt .Cobalt is very costly and mostly mined in war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo.

"Our engineers are also working on a ratio with 90 percent nickel, 5 percent manganese 5 percent cobalt in order to reduce the amount of rare earth metals (Cobalt) even further"

Major German automakers like BMW, Volkswagen and Mercedes have invested billions of dollars to make cheaper Tesla fighters ,as more car owners (Nigerians excluded) are beginning to ditch their polluting petrol and diesel powered cars for the all-electric and hybrid alternatives.

This "self-driving capabilities" described above is what the Level-4 and Level-5 advanced autonomous driving tech promises to bring to the automotive industry.

The Level-4 system can drive without human assistance under certain conditions while the Level-5 compatible cars (that may come with or without steering-wheels) will drive without human assistance under all conditions - which means that you can sleep, read newspapers,watch movies and even back the traffic, while your car do all the driving.

It’s not clear how soon this will happen, but Elon Musk recently said in an interview that he thinks  "Full Self-driving capability" will encompass all modes of driving by the end of next year.

Chinese Space Agency (CNSA) ,on a mission to be the first to land a rover on the far side (dark side) of the Moon, successfully launched the Chang’e-4 spacecraft from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province on 8 December for a 110-hour 238,855 miles (384,400 km) journey to the moon.

The dark side (or far side) is located on the side of the Moon that never faces Earth. It is an intriguing region which no rover has ever landed on. The Soviet Luna 3 mission only took its grainy photographs in 1959 while the US NASA's Ranger spacecraft had only flybys.

If successful, the Chang'e 4 lander and rover  spacecraft will be China's second spacecraft to land on the moon, after the Chang’e-3 landed on the moon’s near side in 2013.

The moon’s near side always face the Earth and it is where US NASA's manned and unmanned spacecrafts landed on between 1959 and 1972.

The landing target of the Chinese rover when it gets to the far side of the moon in early January will be South Pole-Aitken Basin . Scientists believe the ancient impact crater could give clues to the history and development of the moon.

The rover also carries potato and Arabidopsis plant seeds enclosed in a mini biosphere,which will be used by biologists to see how plants breath and use photosynthesis while on the Moon.

The chief designer of the experiment, Xie Gengxin, said

"We have to keep the temperature in the mini biosphere within a range from 1 degree to 30 degrees, and properly control the humidity and nutrition"

“We will use a tube to direct the natural light on the surface of Moon into the tin to make the plants grow."

Communications with the spacecraft will be facilitated by the 'Queqiao' relay satellite that was launched in May.It will transmit telemetry back to Earth via its S-band antenna while it's X-band data will provide the communication path between the lander and rover.

China is also planning to launch its own artificial moon into orbit by 2020 to illuminate the streets of Chengdu after dark.

It is designed to replace streetlamps by reflecting light from the sun back to the Earth to illuminate the city.

They believe it will save an estimated 1.2 billion yuan (₦62 billion) a year in electricity costs for the Chinese city of Chengdu.

Volkswagen's Autostadt ( or Automobile City ) houses two 160 ft high glass tower that can store about 800 custom-ordered Volkswagen models , in addition to a huge car museum ,Hotels, restaurants and theme park.

Both glass towers are connected to the Volkswagen plant - the world's largest car manufacturing plant, by a 700 metre underground tunnel.

2 US Marine Aircrafts - an F/A-18 fighter jet with two crew onboard and a KC-130 Hercules refuelling tanker with five crew, collided and crashed into the sea off Japan on Thursday during a routine training operation.

The two millitary planes were conducting a routine aerial refueling training when the collision occurred around 100 kilometres (55 nautical miles) off the cape of Muroto in southwestern Japan.

One Marine was rescued while another one has been declared deceased.The US military and Japanese Self-Defense planes and vessels are currently searching for the other five missing US Marines.

The remains of former President George H. W. Bush has traveled over thousands of miles by Hearse and by Air Force One Presidential plane .

But the final leg of the journey to his resting place will be made in a train named to honor the 41st President of the United States.

During the unveiling of the train in 2005,the late Bush said:

"If I had one of these when I was president, I might have left Air Force One behind"

The train, named Union Pacific 4141, is painted like the presidential airplane Air Force One.
It has the presidential seal and the words "George Bush 41 Presidential Library and Museum" printed on its sides.

The 74-foot long and 16-foot tall diesel powered locomotive will transport the remains of former President , along with his family and friends from Spring to College Station.

Union Pacific,the owner of the train and the largest railroad in North America,said:

"We'll be moving at a pretty modest speed"

"We want to make sure that the people who have taken the time to line the route to pay their respects have the opportunity to do that."

George Bush snr died on November 30 at the age of 94.He will be buried next to his wife and their daughter Robin ,at his presidential library at Texas A&M University.

This will be the 8th funeral train for a United States president and the first since President Dwight Eisenhower in 1969.

This is the horrifying moment a dozen dogs and a deer plunge off the side of a cliff during a hunt in Spain.

Animal welfare lobbyists attacked the unidentified hunter for sending his dogs to trap the wild animal on Sunday as they shared the footage on social media.

The incident happened near the village of Herreruela in the western province of Caceres.

An onlooker can be overheard yelling to the hunter: 'Run, the dogs are falling' as the first three go over the edge while the others tear at the deer.

He repeats his warning as the dogs' owner appears, shouting out to him: 'Run, three dogs have already fallen', although the hunter fails to pick up his pace and ambles over to the pack of animals before appearing to make a botched attempt at finishing off the deer by stabbing at it with a knife.

Several more dogs plunge to the bottom of the cliff, followed by the deer, as he moves back, making a loud noise as they crash to the ground.

It was not immediately clear if any of the animals had survived the fall, although a spokesman for the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation said the dogs had been treated at the scene by professionals before being taken to nearby veterinary surgeons.

Pablo Iglesias, leader of left-wing party Podemos, tweeted: 'The people responsible for this atrocity only have one name: criminals.

'Let's end this once and for all and punish those who are guilty. A warning, the images are very distressing.'

Political party PACMA, which stands in Spanish for 'The Animalist Party against the Mistreatment of Animals and wants hunting with animals banned across the country, added: 'The cruelty of hunting. A deer and several dogs fall over the edge of a cliff.

'It's time to demand responsibility from politicians who are insensitive to the suffering and lives of animals.'

Well-known Spanish actor Dani Rovira tweeted: 'This is love for dogs? And animals?'

Pro-hunting lobbies described the incident as an 'isolated accident' which they said was the result of the 'instinct and the nature of the dogs'.

The Royal Spanish Hunting Federation said: 'Immediately afterwards the dogs involved were assisted by vets at the scene and at veterinary surgeries', although it gave out no information on whether any had survived.

President Angel Lopez Maraver accused critics of using the footage to criminalise hunters and hunting.

U.S. Air Force's 388th Fighter Wing and 419th Reserve unit conducted its first ever Elephant Walk with the Stealth F-35 fighter jets on Monday 19th Nov. 2018. 

The Fighter wings launched 35 F-35 fighter aircrafts in 20 to 40 second intervals during the combat exercise at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

The elephant walk or taxiing of military aircraft right before takeoff, is intended to demonstrate the Air Force's ability to launch any number of aircraft to support the national defense mission at a moment's notice.

The US Airforce said:

"We are ready to fight tonight, and exercising with multiple squadrons of F-35s can demonstrate our ability to defeat potential adversaries wherever they may arise"

"Launching aircraft from multiple squadrons simultaneously presents various challenges and allows the wings to evaluate the capabilities of maintenance professionals, as well as pilots and command and control teams"

The US Air Force has held a number of elephant walks involving fighters jets like the F-16 Fighting Falcons ,C-130's and with several types of helicopters.

The F-35 jet fighter has three variants that includes the conventional takeoff and landing F-35A - the type used in this Elephant walk, the short takeoff and vertical landing F-35B - the type that crashed 2 months ago , and the carrier-based catapult F-35C.

Each of these stealth Jet Fighter costs ₦36 billion. The US Air Force has 156, the Marine Corps 61 and the Navy 28.

It is also the largest and most expensive weapons programme of its type in the world.

Ford has filed a patent that will remove the "new car smell" that comes with brand new cars. And this is because , most drivers in China, the most populous country and the biggest car market in the world ,hates it.

According to the 2018 J.D. Power China Initial Quality Study,the unpleasant interior smell continues to be the major automotive problem in China ,with more than 10 per cent of drivers complaining about the odour .

Ford Spokesperson said:

"That’s because Chinese car buyers are particularly sensitive to the smell of their new cars"

"They place unpleasant smells ahead of engine performance or safety as their top reason for not buying a new car"

"If that's an issue, we'll definitely get it addressed"

"To me, everyone loves that new car smell, and in fact, when you go to the car wash, they sell the new car scent to put it back in the car"

The tech-filled removal process described in the patent involves parking the car in the sun, opening the windows slightly and turning the engine, heater and fan on.

And it only works when fitted to a driverless or semi-autonomous vehicles - the intelligent cars knows when to remove the chemicals , they drive themselves to a sunny spot and bake away the unpleasant smell.

This move will surely boost Ford's sales in the world's biggest car Market .
