Syrian state media said its anti-aircraft batteries were responding to a “new wave of Israeli missiles and is dropping them one by one”. However, it added, missiles struck radar, air defence positions and ammunition warehouses. Explosives fired from Israel also hit southern Syria’s Quneitra province, adjacent to the Golan Heights, it said. There were no reported casualties.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted an unidentified security official as saying Israel’s attacks inside Syria were the most extensive since the two nations signed a disengagement agreement after the October war of 1973.

Israel has warned it will not permit Tehran to establish a permanent military presence in Syria, accusing Iran of moving drones and missiles into its Arab neighbour. Iranian forces have been sent to aid the Syrian government in a devastating seven-year civil war against insurgents.

Arch-enemies Iran and Israel edged closer to all-out war on Thursday after Israel’s military said its positions in the Golan Heights were fired at with a barrage of Iranian rockets, prompting it to respond with extensive strikes targeting Tehran’s forces across Syria.

The attack, if confirmed, would mark the first time Iran has fired rockets in a direct strike on Israeli forces, dramatically ratcheting up what has for years been a conflict fought through proxies.

Several but not all of the Iranian rockets were intercepted by Israeli defences, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman, Lt Col Jonathan Conricus, told reporters.

“At approximately 12.10, 10 minutes past midnight, forces belonging to the Iranian Quds Force fired approximately 20 projectiles – most of them are probably rockets but that is yet to be determined – towards the forward line of IDF positions in the Golan Heights,” he said.

“So far we are not aware of any casualties, any IDF casualties,” he said. A preliminary assessment found there was minimal damage, he added.

Israel accused the general in charge of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ external operations branch of orchestrating the attack.

“It was ordered and commanded by Qassem Soleimani and it has not achieved its purpose,” Conricus said.

The occupied Golan Heights has been on high alert since Donald Trump confirmed he was pulling the US out of the Iran nuclear deal.

“The IDF views this Iranian attack very severely,” Conricus said. “This event is not over.”

In the early hours of Thursday morning, the IDF’s Arabic-language Twitter account said its military was “moving” against Iranian targets in Syria and warned Damascus not to intervene. Conricus said Israel had notified Russia before the strikes began. The military later said it had hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in Syria.

The Syrian capital was shaken with explosions as jets flew overheard before dawn, with residents posting videos online of what appeared to be air defence missiles running bright streaks through the night sky and reporting loud sounds that rocked their buildings.

We all remember the Sweet Sweet Codeine, the  investigative documentary by the BBC's undercover teams that revealed how the readily available syrup was being used by young Nigerians to get high.

This week, BMW issued a recall of 312,000 cars in UK after another BBC's Watchdog investigation found out that cars could completely loss power while being driven.

The affected models includes the BMW 1 Series, the 3 Series, the Z4 and X1 petrol and diesel models made between March 2007 and August 2011.

BBC radio 4 reveals the fault makes the battery lose its connection to the fuse box,leaving the car powerless and unable to use the brake or hazard lights.

36,410 petrol powered BMW's were initially recalled last year after a driver was killed in Dec 25 2016, when his Ford Fiesta crashed into a tree to avoid a broken down BMW.

BBC Watchdog team contacted several other drivers, someone revealing their BMW 3 Series lost power while driving at high speeds.

Another BMW owner told the BBC about his stalled car that:
“I took it to BMW.  The next day they called me to say they had found a fault, it looks like the cable had burnt out and no current was passing through the fuse box.”

“I felt so uncomfortable driving it that we took taxis, I walked to work every day. It was a nightmare, it wasn’t safe enough to drive.”

BMW said "In order to reassure customers with concerns about the safety of their vehicles, we are voluntarily extending the recall" while commenting on Watchdog's investigation.

In 2013, over 500,000 cars were recalled in the South Africa ,US, Australia and Canada .

I wonder why these recalls don't reach Nigeria,the Self-proclaimed Giant of Africa.

Instead of playing the blame games,where the demons and at times, the drivers are blamed for every accident on our highways, we need to start investigating the causes , just like the BBC's.

Ok, I did not even read that part b4 I came to that conclusion, they will be dealt with, You cant kick a man already on the floor. His mental wellbeing should have been addressed in the 1st instance, Im sure the guy is know to them.

They received reports he kicked down the door of a residence.

Lowe’s family has said he was having an unusual mental health episode and are questioning whether police followed proper policies during the incident. 

The family has said that Lowe suffered broken bones requiring reconstructive surgery. 

He was reportedly moved from the hospital to the county jail Saturday night.

Three officers have been placed on administrative leave with a fourth officer also suspended as the family questions whether proper police protocol was followed during the incident.

A man has been charged with three counts of battery after he got in a fight with six police officers. 

A video of the brawl between the officers and Demetrious Lowe, 25, on a street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has gone viral.

The video goes back and forth between the officers violently hitting Lowe with police batons and Lowe approaching them with his fists curled and blood streaming down his face. 

At least three of the officers were injured and Lowe suffered several broken bones in the incident, which Lowe's family says was an unusual mental health episode.  

On May 2 police were dispatched to the northern Milwaukee neighborhood after receiving reports that a man had kicked down the door of a residence.

They found Lowe, who matched the suspect's description, walking nearby bleeding from his left arm and repeatedly saying: I am King James.'

A film-maker was horrifically killed after his skull was crushed by a bull giraffe in an attack at the safari park used to film ITV’s popular Wild at Heart series.

Carlos Carvalho had worked on most of the series of the hit family drama that featured a British family building up an animal hospital in the South African bush.

But the 47-year-old was sent flying 16 feet through the air while working on a feature film with Gerald the Giraffe after the animal headbutted him, causing devastating head injuries.

He was airlifted from the scene in Broederstroom, South Africa, to the same hospital where British safari park owner Mike Hodge is recovering from a lion attack in Johannesburg but surgeons were unable to save him.

Drikus Van Der Merwe was part of the filming crew and said he was stood next to Carlos when he was attacked. 

'He started chasing the boom Player who joined our unit,' he added. 'The giraffe followed him but we didn’t feel threatened because he just seemed to be inquisitive.

'We started shooting close ups of its body and its feet. Then while Carlos was looking through the camera eyepiece Gerald swung his neck and hit him against his head. 

'It came out of nowhere and Carlos didn’t even see it coming. He wasn’t aware of the danger.'

The tragedy happened at the popular 1,500-acre Glen Afric Country Lodge in Hartbeespoort which is 50 miles north the hospital he was flown to on Wednesday night.

Van Der Merwe said Carlos’s body lay lifeless on the ground until the on-set paramedic arrived. 

'I could see he was unconscious,' he said. 'There was blood coming out of his eyes and ears so I knew he had a severe head trauma. But I never thought he would die.

'Out of all the wild animals we have filmed I can’t believe a giraffe killed Carlos. I suppose we get so used to filming animals that we become desensitised in a way.'

Moments before the attack, photographer Van Der Merwe took the final pictures of Carlos alive as he worked on rigging. 

Owner of Glen Afric Country Lodge Richard Brooker yesterday told how he was killed.

He said: 'Carlos was standing in front of the giraffe, the animal spread its legs, bent its neck and swung its head at Carlos. It was a terrible accident and we are heartbroken.

'Gerald will remain at the lodge. He did nothing wrong.'

Carvalho won a number of awards since he began his career as a runner in 1992. 

They included a Silver Lion at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 for a public service announcement for Childline and a 2014 African Movie Academy Cinematography Award for his work on “The Forgotten Kingdom”. 

Adult male giraffes which stand 18 feet tall and weigh up to 1.2 tons fight with their heads in what is called necking to prove dominance and for the right to access to females.

Carlos had his skull crushed by the horns known as ossicones on the top of the giraffe’s head .

The filmmakers Cape Town agent Sandi-Lee Slabbert said: 'The giraffe headbutted Carlos during filming and he was rushed to hospital but died that night from head injuries.

'He was an amazing, amazing man and fabulous to work with. Everyone loved him and loved working with him. 

'He was very well known at Glen Afric where he filmed a lot. He is a very sad loss to everyone who knew him and the industry.'

The wildlife park is home to elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffe, hippos and monkeys and overlooks the Magailesberg Mountains and is a popular spot for TV and film programmes.

A modified 2000hp Nissan Qashqai from Severn Valley Motorsport (SVM) has dethroned the Toyota  Land Cruiser as the world's fastest SUV by hitting 237.6 mph.

That’s 7.6 mph better than the 230mph record Toyota managed to do with its modified 2000hp Land Cruiser in 2017.

The transformation into its record-breaking started six years ago, when Severn Valley Motorsport (SVM) fused the crossover with a Nissan GT-R sports car.

The Qashqai’s body was lowered onto the GT-R’s  chassis and running gear. Then SVM upgraded the powertrain by lifting the twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6’s output from 523bhp to 2000bhp.

This record makes the Nissan Qashqai faster than the top speed of a standard McLaren F1 and quicker than the take-off speed of a Boeing 747 jumbo jet.

Some people still argue that the Land Cruiser is the true record holder since it is a body-on-frame SUV , while the Nissan Qashqai is technically a crossover.
