Toyota is recalling 1,730 2018 Camry sedans equipped with 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engines because of an unusual and potentially serious engine problem.

The 1,730 sedans being recalled may have engines that were produced with pistons that are too large and these out-of-spec parts could cause the vehicle to run rough, create an abnormal sound, emit smoke from the exhaust and illuminate warning lights and messages. These overlarge pistons could result in a loss of power, or cause the engine to stop running altogether.

Toyota ,who sold 387,000 Camrys in 2017, says that the problematic pistons are from a particular production period, late December 2017 through mid-January 2018.

This helps explain why the number of models affected by the campaign is so small compared to the total production of such a high-volume model.

Toyota will begin notifying customers whose cars may be affected with this issue via mail by late May, and dealers will inspect production date codes of the pistons on these engines.

If the service techs discover a match with the faulty parts, the entire engine will be replaced at no cost to the customer.

This is the second recall of the 2018 Camry. In February, Toyota issued a campaign notice covering nearly 12,000 V6 models for incorrectly connected fuel lines that could trigger a leak.

A man named "Mad” Mike Hughes has launched his homemade rocket into the sky, with him aboard, in an attempt to prove that the Earth is indeed as flat as a pancake.

The launch, which took place in the Mojave Desert in California sent Mad Mike 1,875 feet into the sky in his big green rocket. The rocket, labeled with “RESEARCH FLAT EARTH”, operated surprisingly smoothly given it was homemade and built on a very small budget.

The rocket was built using scrap metal and estimates indicate the final cost to be about $20,000. The launch pad itself was a modified mobile home, which Mad Mike spent months building for his upcoming rocket launch. After reaching 1,875 feet, the rocket successfully deployed its parachutes and glided back down to Earth.

The 61-year-old daredevil by background has taken to much-publicized rocket launches in the recent years. Thankfully, he was mostly uninjured after this latest attempt researching the supposed flat earth.

Beyond a bruised and achy back, it appears Mad Mike sustained no long-term injuries from the rocket launch.

As for proving the Earth is flat, Mad Mike says that will come later with larger rockets planned to launch him into space.

So as of now, Mad Mike is not convinced one way or another. He still believes the Earth is flat but wants to confirm with his own eyes.

Jaguar Land Rover has secured a deal potentially worth £1.3billion to supply 20,000 new all-electric I-Paces to Google’s self-driving company, Waymo.

Unveiling the joint deal in New York Auto Show , the two firms said: Jaguar Land Rover and Waymo today announce a long-term strategic partnership.

The self-driving Jaguar prototypes will join Waymo’s existing fleet of 600 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans.

The aim is to create the world’s first premium self-driving electric vehicle for Waymo’s driverless transportation service, which plans to launch later this year and offer customers the opportunity to hail a driverless car with an app.

The zero-emissions battery-powered Jaguars, which will cost from around £64,000 to £82,000, will be used as self-driving prototypes for the initiative, formerly known as the Google self-driving car project.

Jaguar said that up to 20,000 I-Paces will be built in the first two years of production and be available for riders of Waymo’s driverless service, serving a potential one million trips per day.

The companies said they will work together to design and engineer self-driving Jaguar I-Pace vehicles.

They added: "This long-term strategic collaboration will further Waymo and Jaguar Land Rover’s shared goals: to make cars safer, free up people’s valuable time and improve mobility for everyone."

The I-Pace is being built under licence by Magna Steyr, in Graz, Austria, and was officially launched at this month’s Geneva Motor Show.

The standard version accelerates from rest to 60mph in 4.5 seconds, has a top speed of 124mph and promises a range of 298 miles.

Tesla is voluntarily recalling 123,000 Model S sedans built before April of 2016 because of an issue with the power steering bolts

Tesla explained that it has seen "excessive corrosion" in the power steering bolts of the affected vehicles in some cold climates where a certain type of road salt is used.

"if the bolts fail, the driver would still be able to steer the car, but would have to use "increased force."

"This primarily makes the car harder to drive at low speeds and for parallel parking, but does not materially affect control at high speed, where only small steering wheel force is needed,"

Tesla said it has only seen this problem occur in "very cold climates" where road salts are commonly used. But the company said it was recalling all affected vehicles regardless of climate, "to account for the possibility that the vehicle may later be used in a highly corrosive environment."

No injuries or accidents have been reported in connection with the issue,

The Model S has been lauded for its safety ratings, but news of this recall comes at a rough time for Tesla.

Jaguar has unleashed the fastest and most powerful version yet of its F-Pace sports utility vehicle with a top speed of 176mph.

The special-edition F-Pace SVR, unveiled at the New York Auto Show is engineered by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) .It not only boasts a 44 per cent increase in power but also features an enhanced chassis and aerodynamics.

Sprinting from rest to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds its enhanced 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine produces 542bhp, the equivalent of more than five Ford Fiestas strapped together and enough to rival most sports cars.

The F-Pace SVR gets 21-inch wheels as standard, with 22-inchers available as an option which are made from lightweight, high-performance materials. 

Aerodynamic enhancements include larger air intakes at the front, and side vents that lower pressure in the wheel-arches to reduce lift, provide additional cooling, while also optimising high-speed stability. 

A particular highlight on the hot SUV is Jaguar’s active exhaust system, which is 6.6kg lighter than the standard unit but also channels the gases to create a fruity soundtrack.

The F-Pace was named 2017 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year , the first time Jaguar has collected the top award and only the second brand to collect both awards in the same year.

It is also the fastest-selling Jaguar ever, with more than 132,000 sold globally and the fastest ever to accelerate to the 100,000 mark.

Passersby in central London on Monday got a strange and unsettling sight: 84 men, standing silently on the rooftops of office towers as if they were about to leap to their deaths.

These men aren't actually human. They are life-size sculptures, placed there to raise awareness about suicide.

The sculptures were installed overnight as part of Project 84, an idea made possible by American street artist Mark Jenkins and the Campaign against Living Miserably, or CALM, a charity focused on preventing suicide, which it says is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.

The sculptures represent the 84 men who commit suicide, on average, each week in the UK. CALM says three in four suicide victims are men.

"As a society we have to move past embarrassment and awkwardness, we have to face this awful issue, discuss it and actively work to stop it," said CALM CEO Simon Gunning.

The sculptures, all with their faces covered, are perched at the edge of rooftops of several buildings owned by ITV, the UK television network. They will remain there through April 1.

Jenkins, who is widely known for placing his hyper-realistic sculptures in public settings where they interact with passersby, created the figures from packing tape.

Jenkins worked with collaborator Sandra Fernandez to create the sculptures. Each of the 84 represents a real man who died by suicide, and their individual stories are chronicled on the Project 84 website.

ITV's daily show "This Morning" featured interviews Monday with relatives and friends of the 84 men at the heart of the project.

"Underpinning this campaign is hope, hope that by telling these stories we can all better understand the complexities of suicide and strive for change," Gunning said.

Project 84 also has launched an online petition drive through which it hopes to persuade Britain's government to take action to improve suicide prevention and bereavement support. As of Monday afternoon more than 80,000 people had signed it.

Reaction to the rooftop sculptures has been mostly positive.

"So important that we break the stigma of men's mental health and let people know it's OK not to be OK," said one observer on Twitter.

But some others thought the project was in poor taste.

" ... this is probably the most perverse sick thing I've seen. Who on earth had such an insensitive idea??" said one man on Twitter.

Regardless of the differing opinions, the project has appeared to achieve what it intended -- to get people talking about men's mental health. The conversation might even continue after the statues are removed on Sunday.

Akeredolu had, by the appeal, challenged a July 20017 judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which upheld an order by a Federal High Court in Abuja, granting permission to Olusegun Abraham to serve Akeredolu through substituted means, court documents in relation to the suit he (Abraham) filed.

Tempe Police has released footage of the accident in which a cyclist was killed by a self-driving Volvo XC90 owned by Uber, on March 18.

The video reveals the actual moment of impact, shot using a dashboard-mounted camera, as well as the safety driver’s reaction, or better said, lack of reaction.

In the camera angle that faces inward, the Uber safety driver can be seen looking down for several seconds in the moments before the crash. The driver said “it was like a flash, the person walked out in front of them,” and that “the first alert to the collision was the sound of the collision.”

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after and rushed the pedestrian to hospital. Unfortunately, it was too late for the woman who was crossing the street in a non-designated area, as she passed away.

Following the incident, Uber suspended its  autonomous vehicle program. Toyota also suspended its own tests of self-driving cars on public roads, because of the “emotional effect” that the Uber crash may have had on their test drivers.

The video was released in the middle of what is an ongoing investigation by the Tempe Police Department.

However, after analyzing the videos the police chief believes there is no evidence suggesting that Uber is to blame for the crash.

“It’s very clear it would have been difficult to avoid this collision in any kind of mode (autonomous or human-driven) based on how she came from the shadows right into the roadway,”

The police chief added that "it is dangerous to cross roadways in the evening hour when well-illuminated, managed crosswalks are available."

Investigations will continue, but the police chief believes Uber will likely not be at fault in the accident. “I won’t rule out the potential to file charges against the (backup driver) in the Uber vehicle,”.

Tesla’s shareholders have voted to approve a new 10-year compensation plan for CEO Elon Musk valued at around $2.6 billion( N936b )in stock options.

Musk won’t get the full value in  one-time payment , and he might not even get all of it. The compensation is dependent on the company hitting certain milestones in the coming years, including whether or not Musk can take Tesla to an astronomical market valuation of $650 billion in the next 10 years ,an amount that would be more than 10 times the company’s current value of around $59 billion.

Once Tesla reaches a market valuation of $100 billion, Musk will be awarded one-twelfth of the total stock options package. Each time Tesla’s market valuation grows $50 billion beyond that, he’ll be awarded another same-sized slice of the stock options. There are also 16 operational milestones that have to do with specific revenue and profitability targets, though up to 12 of those can be tied to the market cap goals.

If he receives the full benefit, Musk could wind up owning a 28 percent stake of Tesla, which could be worth nearly $200 billion. Musk, who is estimated to be worth $20 billion, currently doesn’t make a salary at Tesla. The company makes a California-mandated minimum wage salary available to him, but he has not accepted it.

He succeeded in overt-turning three charges. But a month later his Ferrari 458 Spider was seized by West Midlands police who suspected it was stolen.

The 31-year-old millionaire says he bought his cherished Ferrari 458 Spider from a large auction company and sourced all the parts used in the car from official sources.

When he later appeared in court with papers to prove his ownership of the vehicle he was told that it had already been destroyed.

The police spokesperson then revealed that the car was crushed because it had no valid insurance and was a Category B vehicle, which are officially classed as 'unroadworthy', meaning it had to be destroyed.

Category B means that the body shell should be crushed as this category signifies extensive damage, although some parts are salvageable.

He said on Facebook: 'This is my Ferrari the police crushed unlawfully!! It has taken them almost 1 year to release the video, I wonder why?

'My car was insured, and I was the owner. They went behind my back and removed a court order that was imposed on the car without notifying my self or my legal team.

He says he is now planning on taking legal action after obtaining footage from the police.
He said: "I can’t believe they have destroyed my car.

"I love supercars and have owned a number of them and loved this car. “I saved to buy this car, and it was sentimental to me and my family.

“The police had no right to do what they did, it’s very sad, this money could have gone to a good cause.

“Ferrari parts are worth more than the car itself. “I had a quote to sell the Ferrari in parts for over N126m (£250k). "I'm planning on taking the officer to court for breaching a court order and unlawfully destroying my car.”

In a statement West Midlands Police said the video is in relation to a trial which is due to start next month.

They stated that Khan and two other people, including his brother Aamir, are charged with conspiracy to commit fraud. The trial talks about the group being involved in a vehicle registration scam in which the rights to high-value number plates were stolen and offered for resale for more than £100,000.

While Goodyear is still developing its future tyre that cleans as it rolls, Pirelli's latest tyre is set to arrive this year. It's called Cyber Car tyre and it's a tire that connects the rubber with the car and provides loads of information and data.

Why’s that useful? With the latest Pirelli innovation, the tire can relay information such as air pressure, internal temperature, and tread depth. All of the information comes via a tiny sensor that weighs less than an ounce. But, the tire won't just look at data, it will help make adjustments for drivers too.

The tire can communicate with the car to activate the ABS and traction control systems when needed, and soon-to-come cars will be able to adjust their setups based on the tire's identification.

The tire can provide the vehicle accurate weight figures to display a more exact driving range, which is especially useful for electric cars. As for maintenance, the tire can let drivers know about specific information on tread wear and when a rotation is required.

In addition to sending the information to your car, the information from the tires will also go to the Pirelli Cloud and drivers will be able to get messages via a smarphone app.

Pirelli says the tech is currently being tested with a number of carmakers, from EV makers and standard production cars to high-performance applications.

It doesn't stop at the Cyber Car tyre. Pirelli's next step is the Cyber Tyre that the company wants to bring to market in the near future. Its sensors will provide data with every rotation of the tire in real time. The technology is already in use in the Ferrari FKKX, the marque's track-only LaFerrari-based hypercar.

Vets are baffled after a snake breeder ended up with a two-headed boa constrictor that has two separate hearts.

The two-week-old creature, which appears to be twin snakes in "one outer skin" was featured on a National Geographic programme.

Both heads move separately and flick their own tongues.

The Floridian breeder took the reptile to vet Dr Lauren Thielen for examination, and an X-ray revealed it has two functioning hearts.

Other two-headed creatures have a tendency to have just one set of internal organs.

Dr Thielen said: “I was shocked it has two hearts. But it was really cool to understand that the Siamese twin snake was really two snakes in one outer skin.”

During the programme Thielen then used non-invasive technology called a doppler ultrasound to further examine it.

She tells National Geographic  viewers: “We're using the doppler to assess the heart rate of the snake and also to evaluate that, indeed, this snake has two hearts. “It does! Did you hear that?”

She then jokes: “So, they have a banging circulatory system. It's going to run marathons - slither marathons - this snake is.”

The machine allowed veterinarians to listen to the two individual heartbeats and confirm that the animal really does have a pair of the organs, which are both pumping blood within the body.

The doppler ultrasound also enabled the doctors track the animals' internal blood flow.Dr Thielen said she had never seen a two-headed boa before.

The case is rare, but other instances of 2-headed  snakes have been recorded.A two-headed albino Honduran milk snake called Medusa was previously featured on National Geographic.The snake was filmed eating for the first time.

Some two-headed creatures end up competing for food, but while one of Medusa's two heads started to consume a dead mouse, the other watched the spectacle calmly.

The creature seemingly swallowed the dead mouse without any issues.
Another unique trait of the two-headed boa Dr Thielen examined is the creature's two digestive tracts.

She explained: “If there are two digestive systems then we may need to provide nutrition to both snakes.”

“Snakes born like this do die because they cannot get proper nutrition, they share kidneys or they cannot defecate normally.

She said of the two-headed boa: “What is this, like, one in a million, one in ten million? It's rare, but it does happen. But I've never known it to happen in this species before. This is really neat.'

National Geographic said the two-headed boa was probably caused by an embryo that ceased to split after beginning to do so to create twins.

A woman was killed on sunday night in Tempe, Arizona, after she was hit by a self-driving car operated by Uber. It is the first known pedestrian death caused by a self-driving car.

The self-driving car was in autonomous mode when it struck the woman, who was walking outside of the crosswalk. Both the driver and the car failed to react in time to prevent the fatality.

Uber said on Twitter the company is fully cooperating with local authorities as the investigation occurs, and that it has stopped testing the self-driving vehicles in cities across the country.

Uber has been testing its autonomous vehicles for months. Automakers and tech companies are competing to be first with the technology.

Uber is not the only company that has experienced accidents with driverless cars. Companies like Google, Tesla and General Motors also join the list.

A Tesla Model S owner died in Florida in 2016 when his Tesla hit a white semi truck while driving in the semi-autonomous Autopilot mode. The vehicle failed to see the white truck against the bright sky.

Uber is testing more than self-driving cars. They have a fleet of self-driving semi-trucks in operation in Arizona for a couple months after its acquisition of the company Otto.

The 10,000th Lamborghini Huracán has rolled off the assembly line in Italy,marking a production milestone for the V10 model of Lamborghini. The celebratory model is an LP 640-4 Performante sporting the same Verde Mantis Green colour as the #11 Huracan GT3 that won its class at the 2018 Daytona 24 hours race.

It’s taken around four years to reach the figure, during which time the Huracan range has swelled to six cars'from the coupe and Spyder in rear and 4 wheel drive forms, and the hardcore Performante, now available with both hard and soft tops.

The Canada-bound Huracán Performante model features a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 640 PS (470 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It enables it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 325 km/h (201 mph).

The Huracan is central to a record year of sales for Lamborghini. In 2017, it delivered 3,815 cars, of which 70 per cent were Huracans, the rest Aventadors.

The Huracán will remain in production for several more years but details are already starting to emerge about its successor. The successor which is due in 2022 will come with an hybrid assistance. V10 engine has become part of the Lamborghini’s DNA and will continue to be found in the next-generation model.Rear- and all-wheel-drive models will be offered.

Lamborghini won’t follow the footsteps of the BMW M5 and offer an all-wheel drive system that can be transformed into rear-wheel drive at the push of a button. As the engineer explained, switching off all-wheel drive burden the car with additional weight while the suspension is still setup for an all-wheel drive model.

The Huracan also features powerfully in motorsport, with the Huracan Super Trofeo as leader in Lamborghini’s four single-make series, and the Huracan GT3 com
peting in championships around the world.
