Bizibi:Northerners vs Northerner, you obviously do not know how those people you term illiterates worship Buhari. The SE and SS are the only areas that would vote sharply against Buhari and APC; but considering the fact that the only alternative would be 'another malam', you simply fail to note the severe level of voter apathy that would take place in the far south which is supposed to provide the much needed weight to push Buhari out. For you to even assume that people down south would troop out of their houses, under the sun and in the rain, enmass like it happened in 2015 to go vote in an election with 2 northern candidates, you must be a dreamer. Brother, if PDP doesnt get its candidate extremely right, Buhari is going to die in Aso rock. |
Bizibi:Yes, simple number additions and application of common sense logic... I can see you are incapable of contributing any sensible logic, only sentimental blabbering seems to be your forte. "Everyone is waiting to vote him out", with you logic, that also includes millions of people in the north too right? For your info, I dont even want Buhari to return in 2019, but common sense should tell you that he doesnt seem to have any viable opposition so far. Common sense and not stinking sentiments please. |
Bizibi:I guess you are then a PDP sycophant? Silly reasoning. We are talking simple number addition and sumple logic based on political dynamics, but an empty vessel only knows how to vomit sentimental arguments. For your info, I dont even want Buhari to return in 2019, but common sense should tell you that he doesnt seem to have any viable opposition so far. Common sense and not stinking sentiments please. |
Nowenuse:Okay that's an oversight on my part, but that doesnt make me politically ignorant. With 100k votes difference, thats almost 50-50, and you really think whoever PDP fields in 2019 would miraculously make APC unable to secure up to 25% of votes in 2019?... We will soon know who is the political toddler here ![]() |
Nowenuse:I wasnt wrong in any way, of course I was referring to the SE and SS; a lot of people from the SS and SE were diehard passionate about GEJ in 2015 and that passion drove people out to vote far more than the hatred for Buhari or APC. Now that passion is certainly no more, and I dont see PDP in 2019 fielding any charismatic candidate that can drive such passion in the SS and SE. Imagine PDP fielding Atiku or Dankwambo or Lamido? You really think these northerners can pull the same GeJ enthusiasm in the SE or SS? Never! However you look at it, there would be serious voter apathy in the far south, except PDP puts its house in order quickly and fields a person like Duke etc. 2ndly, when you talk about the entire north being locked down for Buhari in 2019. I don't know if you are including the middlebelt in your definition of entire north? The same people who voted Buhari from the north would most likely still vote for him again; of course Benue and plateau and southern kaduna are excluded (when I even say north, I dont mean the middle belt). The 2019 election will once again be greatly driven by the two extremities; i.e. the far south (SE SS) and far north (NW, NE and a chunk of the north central). The SW would still be divided almost 50-50 just like it happened in 2015 (Buhari only won the SW with an insignificant margin). Nothing much has changed in the dynamics in the SW especially since the PDP hasnt put its house in order. I dont see the SW tilting to PDP if PDP fields people like Atiku, Dankwambo or Lamido. |
Nowenuse:Lol... very wrong assumptions, Buhari actually WON in those 2 states in 2015 even with the Christian population. Whilst it would be near impossible for him to win those states again in 2019 (especially Benue), gaining 25% would be a walk in the park (might be slightly difficult in Benue though). |
How exactly is it news for a man to visit his own business premises? |
Another lamentation from another busybody that cannot mind her business. Live and let others live! We have the high level of terrorism in the world today because of people who would stop at nothing to force their opinions on others. I see no difference between these tireless hypocrites who keep writing articlrs about how BBN teaches nothing; if power is given to these psuedo terrorists, they would ban the show completely irrespective of the fact that it entertains others. BBN show is entertainment to many, if it didnt entertain, it wouldn't have been so popular and people like the Op wouldnt have had a reason to write such long epistles about it. If you need education, moral or otherwise, you've got schools and churches all over. If you need talent shows, there are also talent shows all about. Contrary to the the Op's myopic and bigotted opinion, BBN may not be exclusively tagged a talent show but a lot of entertainers in Nigeria found their break from participating in BBN - Uti nwachukwu, Gideon Okeke, Ebuka Uchendu, etc. So these hypocritical preachers should leave BBN lovers to live their lives and stop jumping your opinion on others. |
Nowenuse:Buhari needs 25% of the votes in 24 states, but he will very easily get that 25% from 26 states. The only states where he will struggle to get 25% are the 5 SE and 5 SS states (i.e. 5 when you exclude Edo). In terms of total number of votes, you need to remember that PDP secured many votes in 2015 because plenty people were passionate about GEJ and PDP also had the power of incumbency. Now the northern crowd due to ethnic and religious sentiments will still kill themselves in 2019 to vote Buhari, even supported with their horde of underaged voters. But just imagine when PDP fronts a northern candidate, do you think a typical Igbo man will leave his shop to go stand under the sun and rain to vote for 'another Hausa man' all because he hates Buhari?... nobody really got time for that. There isnt any Jonathan whom people are passionate about anymore, voter turn out in the SS and SE amd even the SW would be much lower than in 2015; the fact is that people havent been provided with any hopeful choice, so a lot of people (southerners) lamenting now would end up not bothering themselves during the election for lack of a promising alternative. Hating buhari isnt enough of an incentive to wake and push people to go vote, but you can be sure that the love and passion for their candidate would keep the entire north awake. |
Most of the points highlighted by the Op are very valid, Buhari is very likely going to win again if he contests. The 'loudest' voices of opposition against Buhari are still the same voices that screamed against him in 2015 but couldn't still pull the required numbers despite PDPs power of incumbency. Right now with APC's current confusion and daily failures, coupled with the lackadaisical handling of the herdsmen crisis, this should have been a right time for PDP to get its act together and produce a solid candidate; but then again, its really complicated. A PDP candidate from the north could divide Buhari's votes, but then, a northern PDP candidate would also result in serious voter apathy in the SE and SS (cos only die hard passionate buhari haters would step out to go vote in order to just remove Buhari). If PDP brings a southern candidate (which is very unlikely), it has to be a person that would be acceptable across the entire south (e.g. Duke); else the Yoruba vs Igbo feud would just gift Buhari a landslide. Any way one looks at it, it doesnt seem like buhari is going anywhere yet, exvept he decides to step down. |
sabanageorge:Dana has been on the news for the wrong reasons lately; from door falling off upon landing to overshooting runway today upon landing. GOd help us!

ivandragon:Lol.. see this okoko actually having the guts to call someone else stupid. WOnders shall never end! What does your comment even have to do with the topic of this thread?... See what chronic daftness causes... |
ivandragon:You are very right! The current Dapchi girls attack and abduction is just a well orchestrated plan by PDP lackeys to discredit Buhari before the forthcoming 2019 elections. Just shows you how daft the PDPians are, couldnt even come up with a novel propaganda idea, they just had to plagiarize the script of APC from 2014. Tufia! |
PrecisionFx:You dont have to, I already made my point that you arent as smart as you thinkk you are. |
PrecisionFx:I dont have much to say to you, but take it to heart that there is a reason why world class economic experts still insist on having viable reserves, these experts weren't and aren't blind to the choking infrastructural needs of the nation and neither are they stupid for insisting on viable reserves first even whilst they borrow for infrastructure. Like I said, stop thinking you are smarter than everyone else. |
EternalTruths:Everyone has a right to vote whoever they believe would butter their bread. That same SW voted GEJ in 2011 but they lamented throughout his tenure that he neglected them but you rhink that is not a valid reason to turn their backs on him? Right before the world, GEJ announced that the SE is the pillar of his administration (obviously alluding that he didnt need the SW), but you think these weren't valid enough reasons for the SW to turn their backs in him?... Meanwhile in this same thread you just pointed out that MKO saying he could do without the Igbos was a valid and justified reason why the SE should have 'betrayed' southern unity in 1993, but you think the SW had no valid reasons to vote out a person who neglected their zone and labelled their leaders 'rascals'?... Bros who do you this thing? What sort of toddler nagging mentality do you possess? Meanwhile no agreement was signed anywhere that southerners must vote southern candidates so I wonder if you really know the meaning of the word 'betrayal' which you keep throwing about. If a southerner voting a northern candidate irrespective of their reasons is what you term betrayal, then even the SE is far more guilty of this offence. And by the way, what dirty development did GEJ bring to Nigeria?... is it roads or world class schools or is it power supply or refineries? What exactly is the development?.. maybe it must be the institutionalised plunder of our collective patrimony that you refer to as development; earning highest income but astronomically growing the nations debts and sinking the reserves which were saved by poorer regimes. |
EternalTruths:So if the SE had valid reasons not to support MKO or Awolowo, why do you feel so justified that the SW which supported GEJ in 2011 didnt have a valid reason to pull away support from him in 2015? Hope you now see how warped your logic is. By the way, I'm from the SE, but I just had to call out your childish logic; I'm tired of hearing that line being used by many as a justification for the southern foolishness. |
EternalTruths:Southern unity did not die in 1979 when the SE supported a northerner over a southerner, southern unity also did not die in 1993 when the SE again supported a northerner over a southerner, but southern unity died in 2015 when the SW turned its back on a candidate it supported in 2011 to choose the other (northern) candidate? It remains a mystery what kind of toxin Goodluck Ebele Jonathan injected into the bloodstream of some people to continually force this 'toddler emotions' driven warped logic even unto 2018. Fact is that southern unity never existed, or we can alternatively say it died during the civil war. Another hard fact is that the foolishness of the Igbos and Yorubas in not knowing when to put aside these silly childish differences is the only reason the north will continue to enjoy the upper hand in every political sphere of Nigeria. Common sense should let anyone know that people do not necessarily have to be friends to do business successfully, but that collective common sense is elusive in southern Nigeria. The responses so far in this thread is a testament to that. |
PrecisionFx:You are definitely wiser than the handlers of the economy from the past and present, locally and internationally who make effort to build reserves despite known infrastructural deficits that need funds; you are definitely the wisest one and everyone else is foolish. Congratulations on your peculiar wisdom. Meanwhile, to avoid any doubts, the question you asked in your final sentence wouldnt be more appropriate for anyone else than yourself. |
PrecisionFx:"Buhari created forex crisis in Nigeria" The above speaks volumes of the mentality on which your argument is built; it vividly explains exactly where you're coming from. Obviously it was also Buhari's 'spirit' that caused Nigeria's forex reserves to drop rapidly from almost $40billion in July 2014 (when global oil crisis started) to about $28.6billion on the 29th of May 2015 when Buhari actually assumed office. It was also Buhari's spirit that caused the Naira to drop in value from about N160/$1 in around Oct/Nov 2014 to about N220-N230/$1 as at May 2015 despite the up to $10billion which was drawm from the reserves within the said period to defend the Naira. In fact the entire forex scarcity which prevailed had nothing to do with oil price or oil income or a lack of adequate forex reserves for the rainy day, it was all a result of Buhari's dumbness, that's why Nigeria critically lacked forex and that's why everything went south between 2015 and 2016. I really dont think I have the strength for this kind of arguments. But I'd leave you with a simple statement which I hope you will understand, "right from the days of Joseph and Pharoah in biblical Egypt, it has always been a foolish idea to eat up your reserves." |
tiger28:The part where people keep talking of 'putting food in the table' is most pathetic; just the typical black man mentality which always believes that feasting today is all there is to life irrespective of how detrimental it is to the future survival. tiger28:I'm far from being an economist, but just listening to speeches by enlightened economists (not the partisan ones) is enough to give anyone a fair idea of some simple things. |
PrecisionFx:For a nation of 180million people which is pathetically dependent on importation for just about everything it needs to survive (almost including the air we breathe), even $50billion in the reserves is dangerously too low especially when you consider that a volatile priced commodity is the only source of Nigeria's forex. You obviously do not understand the calamity Nigeria just avoided with the recent oil price and forex crisis; that's why you do not appreciate the importance of having substantial funds in the foreign reserves. When world class economists like NOI who had a fair understanding of these dangers were pushing Nigeria's forex reserves beyond $60billion during OBJ days, do you really think she didnt know what she was doing?.. You really think OBJ/NOI didnt know that they could just withdraw $25 billion from the reserves to build world class roads, power stations, refineries, hospitals etc around the country and take the lifetime title of being the best administration? ""If you think there is any wisdom in spending all your cash on capital and stomach infrastructure""Throughout this thread you've been of the opinion that saving billions of dollars in reserves when the country is in desperate need of infrastructure is foolishness. |
PrecisionFx:Just the same way every single part of the human body has its unique function, the foreign reserves of a country has it's unique functions. Yes it is cash that's saved in the reserves, and the nation is in dire need of cash for infrastructure. But that a nation is cash strapped and also in dire need of infrastructure, that doesn't mean the nation should abandon common sense and start squandering reserves which serves specific survival functions; most especially for a country like ours which almost imports even the air we breathe. If you think there is any wisdom in spending all your cash on capital and stomach infrastructure at the detriment of having a buoyant reserve, then you should really go and study what happened and is currently still happening to a nation called Venezuela which applied this very idea you suggest. |
This one just weak me.. ![]() |
Ikwokrikwo:Nigeria's debt also increased at a fast rate between 2010 to 2015. The only difference then was that Nigeria's oil income was also at an all time high and Nigeria's foreign reserves also dropped astronomically. |
tetralogyfallot:Go and ask Venezuela that question. They applied this your special wisdom by eating it all (including the seeds they should have left in the reserves for planting); that's why Venezuelans are currently one of the worlds happiest people. Go figure! |
PrecisionFx:Ignorance! Just like many others out there, you are simply ignorant of what the foreign reserves is meant for, that's why you believe it's foolish to save money in the reserves; you'd rather have it all spent and plunge the country instantly into an economic mess like Venezuela. |
AnodaIT:What exactly do you think increases the GPD of a nation?... A higher reserve improves a country's credit rating, a higher credit rating improves investor confidence, and with investors having confidence, they flock into an economy with the confidence that they can make money and actually get paid/extract their profits whenever they want. With investors flocking into an economy and improving its productivity, what effect do you think that would have on the nation's GDP?... Also with higher productivity, what effect do you think that would have on employment, inflation and the poverty index? I'm not surprised that there are people who dont understand this elementary economic logic; after all a lot of our people still believe it was Buhari's face that made investors to flee Nigeria between 2014 & 2017 when Nigeria struggled to obtain forex and when its foreign reserves hit the rock bottom. Of course security is a factor which worries foreign investors, but rubbishing the pivotal position of a sound forex reserve in providing investor confidence is rather very myopic; even at the height of the bokoharam menace when a bomb went off everyday with repeated occurences in Abuja, investors still flocked into Nigeria but simply just avoided troubled spots.

AGBORLU31PRINCE:BBN is a private initiative organised by a South African businessman to make money for himself/his organisation and to entertain people. The keyword above is 'PRIVATE', so I'm a bit confused at how you now think this private business venture is the problem of your educational sector which you are embarrassed about. How exactly did you link these two things? ![]() Why dont you hold your government or the governing bodies of your higher institutions responsible for not incentivising educational excellence?... How has one man's private business suddenly become your problem?... For starters, without having to wait for our useless leaders, is there really anything stopping you as a private concerned individual from setting up a private organisation that rewards academic excellence?... It's always very convenient for us to just fold our arms and do nothing but then sit behind keyboards to criticise, insult and crucify others for simply living their lives. |
aderonkedeborah:Call multichoice and ask them to unsubscribe you from the channel. It will be done un 5 minutes. |
Nigeria has a record number of stoopid pharisees, saducees and scribes. I've seen a lot of mumus asking what BBNaija teaches, how its such a useless programme bla bla bla... such stupid questions! Must everything teach something? If you want to learn, go to a school; if you want moral education, go to a religious school or a church. BBN is entertainment, if it doesn't entertain you, it entertains millions of others. I dont watch BBN because I dont find it entertaining; but I have lots of friends who it entertains, so its a case o 'live and let others live'. Its just appalling how so many people just sit in their caves and are so worried over what entertains others. Even the bible calls such people 'busybodies', can't get their minds off the business of others. |
ContentedK:You are totally drifting off point. Retrace your steps back to the first comment and let's focus on the main topic. The point I have made is that Shehu Sani has spoken the gospel truth; I cant even imagine how anyone could possibly argue over that. The reason why many northern elite who should be speaking about this are quiet is the same reason why no southern elite with affiliation to the ruling party is also talking about it. It's all because of political expediency, no one wants to jeopardise their political careers/ambitions by seeming to castigate the president. |
