PoliticsRe: Why Most Northern Elites Cannot Speak Against Killings – Shehu Sani by obailala(m): 11:31am On Feb 18, 2018
ContentedK:
sorry but I disagree, people's lives shouldn't be used for politics. If you loose a loved one in such gruesome manner then you'll understand the word PAIN but it will never be your portion... Atiku is from the north and he's condemned the killings likewise Ibb and it didn't stop money(gains from politics)from rolling into their accounts as usual... shehu was actually referring to friends of the government and the government who are mostly fulanis the major elites you have up north, and I tell you, they know everything happening and that's why they remain tongue-tied
Nope, I think you are confusing the meaning of the words 'right/wrong' with 'truth/false'. Of course people's lives shouldn't be used for politics, it is wrong, but that doesn't change the truth in what Shehu has said that a lot of northern elite who should speak up on these things are silent purely because of political expediency.

Your claim that they all remain silent because they are all part of a conspiracy is rather a myopic theory. Or are you suggesting that even the the Benue state governor Ortom is also part of the Fulani conspiracy?... Cos just until recently when things hit the roof, Ortom who is crying out now was also tongue-tied (due to politics) and was singing sycophantic praises of Buhari. Or are you also of the school that assumes every elite from Benue/Kogi/Kwara northwards are also Fulani who must be part of the Fylani conspiracy?... Are the governors and legislators from Kogi, Nassarawa, plateau, Bauchi, gombe, borno, kebbi, Niger etc also all part of Fulani conspiracy?

For IBB or Atiku to speak out, and even shehu himself, these guys are just microscopic exceptions; infact, IBB is now a spent force who can only speak out the truth now cos he's got no political ambitions anymore. Similarly, it can be argued that Atiku is only speaking out cos it is politically expedient for him (as a PDP presidential hopeful).

so the fact it was happening b4 makes it OK to happen now, the way some of u reason baffles me sometimes.
Before you get baffled by the way I reason, you should first of all go examine your comprehension abilities. Cos if you had good comprehension skills, you wouldn't have jumped into this nonsensical conclusion that I insinuated it was okay for cows to stray into a city or airport.

For your benefit I would repeat what I said, "it is foolishness for anyone to play politics or tie this incident to politics of Buhari or APc or PDP; most especially, it is the purest form of stupidity for a shameless scoundrel like FFK (who was even a former Aviation minister under an administration when an Air France plane collided with cows on the PH International airport runway) to remotely insinuate that Buhari is a reason why cows strayed into Akure airport.
TravelRe: Cows At Akure Airport Prevent Air Peace From Landing. Fayose, FFK React by obailala(m):
These politicians politicising this must be very stupid, especially FFK. Same for all the people on this thread and every other person out there who has viewed this nonsense only through the eyes of politics.

What has cows roaming into the airport got to do with politics of Buhari? Did cows only start straying into Nigerian cities, airports, roads, stadiums, secretariats etc only after 2015? Is this the sort of daft politics PDP expects to use in getting back to power?

This video is an eye opener. This is how wars start.

I come from a family of cocoa farmers and it is cocoa money that sent me abroad 1st time I travelled. I cannot imagine how herdsmen can destroy cocoa farm worth millions and no arrests are made.

Video credit: ITV Benin.
Seun lets have a healthy discussion about this.
This is very sad, what on earth are governors of affected areas waiting for before they act?

Anyway, I comot cap for the presenter; he just turned a serious problem into comedy.

I have a feeling that every attack these days, from armed robbery to assassinations to family members eliminating rivals etc, everything is just loosely labelled 'herdsmen attack' these days and this hinders the chances of any kind of investigation taking place.

Why not Gov have power over state police so that vigilantee(local) will be done away with.

How can you make give somebody power and remove the authority.

How can you make governor chief security while fg controls the police.
That's an issue under debate, state policing. I guess we should be focusing some pressure on our respective Representatives and Senators to bring things like this up in parliament.

under what authority are vigilantes created in your state.
The state governor is the chief security officer of his state and the constitutional powers/authority to create or approve local vigilantes rests in the hands of the governor.

Several people on this thread seem to have pointed this out to you in different ways but it seems you don't still get it. Hopefully it becomes clearer to you before today runs out.

The things this government does will continue to baffle me. Imagine what $496million will do to our Infrastructural, educational, agricultural and health sectors.

If we have the right environment and encouragement, we will invent and create things that are better than these.

My advice to future leaders is that they should focus more on developing the Nigerian people by providing solid education in fields that will turn our present pitiable and sorry state to a more prosperous nation. Avoid wasting money on things that won't change the price of garri in the local markets.
Going by the wisdom of your logic, I guess Nigeria should just disband the military and spend all those billions wasted on the military on infrastructural development and to feed hungry folks with garri. After all, with the right infrastructure (inclusive of stomach infrastructure), there would be jobs, and with reduced unemployment, the security situation wouldn't be so bad so there wouldnt even be need for the military or any other security force.

But on the flip side, there was once a time when bokoharam was on a bombing spree across Nigeria, from Abuja to Kaduna to Jos to Kano to Minna etc, hardly a week passed without you hearing of a bomb blast with scores of innocent people killed. These billions spent on security which in your peculiar wisdom you now claim is a waste is the reason those bokoharam bombings have not gotten to your father's house, and maybe to your head.

You are not thinking right. It is good for the incoming government to be solving abandoned projects of his predecessors, not facing his own plans, at the end the people will say he did not do any new projects. Let me inform you, those general hospital will be abandoned for ever. Most of the uncompleted projects of Sam Mbakwe, did any governments that came after him touch them ? Go to flour mills Akabo and see what they have turned it to. Let me inform you as well, we do not need 27 general hospital in Imo State. State hospital created by Chief Udenwa is enough to serve Imo, Rochas came and destroyed it. Orlu teaching hospital brought up by Udenwa as a center of excellence, you know what Rochas did to it. With these facts given to you, do you expect any incoming government to work on unfinished tasks of Rochas. He will like to initiate new projects people will remember him for.
Governor 1: Comes into power, ignores uncompleted projects of his predecessors, starts fresh projects in line with his personal ideas and visions and completes his own personalised projects.

Governor 2: Comes into power, concentrates on finishing the numerous incomplete projects of his predecessors and completes them to the benefit of the people of his state; but unfortunately has limited room/resources to implement his own personal ideas.

"...at the end the people will say he did not do any new projects..."

For any human to remotely think Governor 1 above is superior or a better achiever than Governor 2, such a person needs serious help. Unfortunately, majority of Nigerians exhibit this repulsive mentality, and that's why no leader intends to complete old projects for fear of all the glory going to their predecessors. This horrible thought pattern has left Nigeria the abandoned project capital of the world.

And by the way, just to correct a statement you made (probably out of ignorance) above, "we actually need more than 27 General hospitals in Imo state" and Rochas did very well in starting them. If there are any which arent complete and Rochas' successors refuse to complete them, it would be extremely silly to blame Rochas for the failure in continuity by his successors. We need to get rid of this messed up mentality.

So the question now is, how much did thry inherit or was it zero as they claimed they inherited empty treasury? Over to you.
All these info can easily be extracted from a simple google search. Politicians like Reno knows majority of Nigerians are too nonchalant to independently verify things, that's why they churn out false figures and statistics at will cos they know people are gullible.

I can help you a bit. As at July 2014 (just before oil prices crashed), the reserves was about $39B. As oil prices started dropping, the reserves dropped progressively to about $28.6B on the 29th May 2015, and of course after handover, it kept dropping (as oil prices kept dropping) till it reached its lowest of $23.95B in Oct 2016. Since then, things picked up and the reserves have been rallying upwards and has just reached its highest point in the last 4 years (> $40B).

And by the way, the use of the word 'zero' is figurative; a family man with 5 kids who just loses his job and has only N10k in his account can be said to have 'NO MONEY' to feed his family.

Hope I helped?
PoliticsRe: Reno Omokri Reacts To Fashola's Statement On Power/economy Under Jonathan by obailala(m): 11:45am On Feb 02, 2018
stephanie11:
@POLITICSNGR

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has reacted to the minister of power, Raji Fashola's recent statement that Nigeria 'had less power under Jonathan but had a growing economy'.

Fashola on Thursday at a civil society engagement workshop on the Power Sector Recovery Programme in Abuja said;

“We hear all our so-called experts who say (non-availability of) power is why the economy of Nigeria is not growing. That is not factual and it is not correct. At the time when we had less power in 2013 and 2014, the economy of this country was growing at seven per cent per annum. We had less power then than we have now, but the economy was growing.”

Omokri, in a statement on Friday, said that the nation's information minister, Lai Mohammed and President Buhari owed ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan an apology. He wrote;

"At various occasions since coming to power on May 29, 2015, both President Muhammadu Buhari and his lying parrot, Lai Mohammed, have attempted to sell the false narrative that the Jonathan administration and the Peoples Democratic Party, destroyed Nigeria’s economy and handed over a collapsed polity and are the reason for the current comatose condition of the nation’s fiscal and financial systems.

For instance, on the 14th of August, 2017, President Buhari, speaking through his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said:

“With due respects to the former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, these are the facts about the economy you left behind, in case you have forgotten.I hope this will help to erase the wrong statement credited to you at your party, the PDP Convention at the Eagle Square last weekend that you handed to President Buhari a robustly healthy economy.

Let me start by reasserting an obvious statement, which is that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was handed an economy ravaged by years of mismanagement and corruption.”

Again, lying Lai Mohammed had also as recently as the 26th of January 2018, in an interview with the Sun Newspaper, said as follows:

“I think it will be tragedy for this country for PDP to come back because they have not even apologised to the nation for how they had destroyed our economy, destroyed our infrastructure, destroyed our quality, and so far from their campaign, ask them how they will do it better when they get there.”

However, in keeping with the principle that no matter how far and fast falsehood has traveled, it must eventually be overtaken by truth, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, has exposed both his boss, President Buhari, and his colleague, Lying Lai Mohammed, as liars who will say anything, no matter how untrue, to cling to power and demonize former President Jonathan and the PDP.

Speaking on February 1, 2018 at a civil society engagement workshop on the Power Sector Recovery Programme in Abuja, Fashola in trying to defend himself from allegations of ineptitude as regards the epileptic power supply in the country, ended up vindicating both Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP, albeit unintentionally.

At that event, Mr. Fashola said:

“We hear all our so-called experts who say (non-availability of) power is why the economy of Nigeria is not growing. That is not factual and it is not correct. At the time when we had less power in 2013 and 2014, the economy of this country was growing at seven per cent per annum.
We had less power then than we have now, but the economy was growing.”

Nigerians can now see that Mr. Fashola, in a Freudian slip, was made by God, to expose the truth that his boss, his party and his colleagues have been trying to suppress for the past three years, namely that former President Jonathan developed and grew Nigeria’s economy at an unprecedented and consistent growth rate of over 6% per annum and handed over a thriving economy that was projected by CNNMoney to be the third fastest growing economy in the world when Dr. Jonathan handed over power to President Buhari.

Unfortunately, due to the ineptitude of the Buhari administration, a booming economy became an economy in recession in just one year under the All Progressive Congress.

And this is not the only recent example of the vindication of former President Jonathan by the Buhari administration.

Only recently, lying Lai Mohammed responded to the letter by former President Olusegun Obasanjo by claiming that the Buhari administration had increased the nation’s foreign reserve from the $24 billion it met it to $40 billion.

The question for Lai Mohammed is this: From who did Buhari inherit the $24 billion? From ghosts? From Killer Fulani herdsmen?

In light of the vindicating statements by Raji Fashola, I hereby call on both President Muhammadu Buhari and lying Lai Mohammed to tender an unreserved apology to former President Jonathan sad the PDP and to henceforth commit to returning Nigeria’s economy at least to the state that they met it when Dr. Jonathan handed over power to them on May 28, 2015."

Mr Omokri must have woken up drunk again before penning down these silly accusations. Where in Lai Mohammed's letter did he say Buhari inherited $24 billion as reserves from GEJ?.... Below is the extract from Lai's letter:

"Foreign Reserves have peaked at $40b, the highest level in about four years, and up from $24 billion just a year ago, even though when we came in, the price of oil had crashed woefully."

So how exactly on earth did a well educated Mr Reno come to his silly and deliberately dubious interpretation above?... The hungry pastor deliberately lying in a bid to accuse another of lying, all because he understands how gullible his audience is.

In simple geography, you have just 4 compass point. But a country isnt necessarily a simple square or circle where you can simply apply the 4 simple compass points (north-east-west-south).

In assigning geographical regions for nations, I'm sure you've heard things like north, north central, west, mid-west, middle-east, south-central, far east, north central etc; this is standard practice all over the world and you cant claim not to have heard it so I wonder why the term south-south is a surprise. Besides, it is called a GEO-POLITICAL ZONE and not a GEOGRAPHIC ZONE.
