Pope22:The construction actually started with OBJ, when did you enter UNN?.. In fact i'm sure some portions may have also been done by Abacha too. |
vanbonattel:There are different ways too spend money; wisely or foolishly. If N1billion is donated to a community, there are different ways it can be used: 1. WISELY: Build a standard school, a hospital, fix the roads, sink a central community borehole and electrify the community. After these, there would still be some money left to be used for education loans/grants and small business loans. If the money is spent as highlighted above, its effect will be felt for a lifetime. 2. FOOLISHLY: Call all the adults in the community and share the money equally and everyone would go home rich men and women and the leader who masterminds this gesture would be hailed a hero for life. But while everyone in the community would be extremely excited at this option, it will not be more than a year or 2 before every single trace of the money vanishes. Unfortunately, Number 2 above is the kind of wisdom most black leaders poses which has kept Africa impoverished. Such kind of leadership is also sustained because even the most educated in society, including supposedly enlightened youths support this approach. In the recent past for instance, Nigeria enjoyed excess oil income, but the only reason Nigeria could have been hit so badly by the current oil price crisis is because when we had plenty, we spent it foolishly. We did not invest in fixing our roads, we did not invest in building high speed rails, we did not invest in resuscitating our dead seaports, we did not aggressively fix our dead refineries or build new ones, we did not aggressively improve our power infrastructure. So the question is, what did we do with that income boom?... We had leaders sharing money to friends, we had everyone buying and flying private jets, we were the worlds largest importers of champagne, we were generally spending and spending and spending and of course, when money is being spent randomly, it doesnt matter whether it is being spent wisely or foolishly, the effect would be felt by everyone in society from the top to bottom and every economic indices would reflect progress. But the real measure of whether the money was spent well or not is only realised when the money stops coming. The Niger Delta for instance today is a mess not because money isnt in the region, but rather because the leaders and elders prefer the money to be paid to their personal pockets to the detriment of infrastructural development which would have improved the standard of living of everyone. Of course the poverty and backwardness is sustained only because even the educated youths that should have known better still celebrate people like Ibori as God sent heroes. Chikelue2000:Embarrassment is a subjective thing. I don't see how Suleman's encounter with the DSS is an embarrassment. A paranoid person though might see it as such, but i doubt even the pastor sees it as an embarrassment. |
fallout87:What the man has simply said is that if GEJ remained on that seat under the current circumstances, the Naira would be about N2000 to $1 dollar by now (Venezuelan style). And judging from the way our reserves were speedily dropping to zero in the last months of GEJ when the oil price began to drop, the man isn't far from the truth. Just to give you an insight, when oil prices began to drop, Nigeria's reserve dropped from $38.5bn to $28.5bn in 6 months before GEJ handed over to the new govt that came in and instantly enforced forex restrictions; meanwhile this rapid drop was happening when oil still sold above $60/bbl but the Naira still crashed from N160 to N230 despite all. You dont need to be reminded that oil price dropped to $28 last year.. While the forex restrictions may have affected business activities and chased impatient foreign investors away, it was a life saving measure cos you wouldn't want to imagine what would have happened had the reserves continued to drop at that rate down to zero; we wouldnt have been able to import even fuel and a litre would have sold for N1000. There's really no point explaining this further, I'm sure it makes no sense to you. |
Okay this is good, but can someone who has actually travelled through the road recently kindly give us real life citizens updates?... It's not enough to just swallow the words off the mouth of political spokespersons. After all before the last election, some dumbos actually presented computer generated pictures of some of these roads and lied to the world that GEJ the Achiever had completed the road to international standards. If this particular road is truly reconstructed and completed to standard, then it will be a huge shame to OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ; a lot of die-hard jonathanian buhari haters would also not be pleased with this development. Some would even say things like "GEJ awarded the contract." |
omenkaLives:While this may sound like a good idea, it may be too dangerous for a society like ours cos we'd be talking of a genocide. We would never be able to 'dissappear' so many people else it would totally shift the balance of our society. |

Shameless security operatives... See the number of adults fooling themselves, your madam summons you to a secondary school where her daughter attends telling you a teacher flogged her unruly daughter, and boom, they jump into action to go beat up teachers. I wish the men who did this, including their madam who called them would be sacked for this foolishness. |
Hope they just discuss how to scrap the perpetual exchange rate fixing by the CBN and save us this forex crisis for good. |
BlackSeptember:Some people just prefer to throw insults even before they think. At the end of the day, after labelling the statement as stupid, you still return to say 'inflation' is the cause of the rise in food prices. So what is inflation? .. Have you suddenly forgotten that the cost of fuel for transportation is the single most powerful influencer of inflation in Nigeria?... High exchange rate = High fuel cost = high transport cost = high cost of doing business = higher cost of final product/services = inflation You claim 'inflation' is the cause of rising food prices but you also think the person who fingers cost of fuel/transportation (the strongest drivers of inflation in Nigeria) is making a 'most stupid statement'? Na wa oh! |

When shall these people just be called what they really are?.. ARMED ROBBERS! |
More often than not, whenever workers begin to demonstrate and demonstrate over the change of their MD, there is usually something they gain corruptly from the status-quo which they dont want to lose. This reminds me of SEC staff a few years ago protesting the appointment of Arunma Oteh. |
JamieNaijaBlog:Dude really needed that prize money, at least to afford better videos. Song isnt bad though. |
DONSMITH123:This particular bishop never liked buhari for anything; the man has since stained himslef as a PDP bishop in the payroll of Ekeweremmadu. This isn't me disputing everything he says though... |
This looks more like cult meeting, definitely not a typical beer parlour outing. Meanwhile does anyone know the significance of the green cap that never leaves his head? |
JamieNaijaBlog:The guy really needed that N25m, at least for a better video next time. |

dhardline:- OBJ spent $16 billion on the power sector - GEJ continued from where OBJ stopped and spent a further $8billion+ on the power sector. https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/97819/8-billion-sunk-into-power-intervention-project-ndphc.html http://thenationonlineng.net/jonathans-dark-power/ The true definition of GEJ-zombieism is when you see the above, but still believe that OBJ and a Buhari (who hasn't even seen any money to spend and is still struggling to get loan approval) are the only ones responsible for Nigeria's darkness. |

amebo101:If the common Nigeria rants on the streets and online about the profligacy of government, why should someone in government also rant about the same thing online? I don't remember Senator Abaribe saying these same things online, neither did Senator Dino; they both raised it up for discussion in the chambers. Of what use is it for Ben to keep saying these things online instead of the right place?... To the best of my knowledge, it is the job of the senate to strike out these flimsy parts of the budget, but instead of doing their jobs, they would prefer adding to the mess (padding) to make sure they get their cut. |
Dont these boko boys ever finish? |
Nothing new here... herdsmen have been operating as armed robbers for a long time in some areas in delta and edo state axis. I have personally escaped being robbed by a gang of armed robbers who looked basically like fulani cattle rearers, but with sophisticated weapons along the benin bypass; and thos was as far back as 2009. Until real effort is made by the police or whoever is in charge to stem the tide, the activities of these non-indigenous armed robbers who dwell in the forest disguising as herders will continue to grow. |
Bizibi:Chaii... so you mean you've stopped taking your drugs again?... Now you've returned to your schizophrenic hallucinations. Dont you feel pity for your family?.. You really need to help them to help you by sticking to your drugs. Now run along boy! |
LushGreenz:Lol... You sure say you read the title sef? |

luvinhubby:The last time I checked, it was the other way round; aren't you the one always preaching how PDP is made up of sacred saints while APC is filled with sorcerers and demons? I dont remember ever labelling anybody an angel, as a matter of fact, my entire ministry on this nairaland and beyond is focused on trying to clear the veil from the eyes of your type that PDP/GEJ arent saints. |
