Apina:I do not need a right or permission from any quarters before I call a spade a spade. I will repeat my statement again, most people from the Niger delta calling for NO PROBE and thinking they are supporting GEJ are pathetically myopic. Any Niger deltan against the probe of the $20bn allegation is senselessly myopic. That is because most of the culprits stealing these moneys are not even Niger deltans and if these moneys are ever recovered into the federation account, the Niger delta region still gets the biggest share. Yet several people from the region are calling for NO PROBE because they myopically think a call for probe automatically means an attack on GEJ. |
I would never be able to thank God enough for delivering Nigeria of GEJ who saw all these thefts but felt nothing was wrong. |
For a moment, just pause and imagine what would have become of Nigeria if GEJ had won the election.. ![]() |
Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi would be drinking Orijin and dancing azonto by now for his vindication... ![]() |
49cents:well, there are hundreds of cases that can be probed but he has chosen to start from the $20bn allegation so who am I to question him?... It's his prerogative!.. Besides, let's not forget this is the biggest single case of corruption in Nigeria's history so it just makes sense that he starts from the biggest and most recent case. As for me, I am just an ordinary Nigerian who would be happy if these monies are recovered and put to good use. |
49cents:Selective probes?... Buhari hasn't even been sworn in you are already accusing him of selective probe... so what exactly are you suggesting?... That the idea of investigating the case should be completely shelved because Buhari hasn't investigated Amaechi and Tinubu yet?... Are you aware that the $20bn allegation is the biggest identified single government scam in the history of Nigeria (and probably in the world)?... Yet you think it shouldn't be given any attention?... What if the money was actually stolen?... Are you not by a bit pricked that such an amount, if recovered can solve our entire power problems instantly?... Gosh!!.. I have totally given up on Jonathan supporters. It is obvious you guys don't give a damn about even your own welfare. A lot of you would rather have the country impoverished and burned because Jonathan did not win election. Let me tell you something, there is a very high chance that that money was actually stolen and Jonathan knows the culprits but was just too spineless to confront the cabal responsible. But the same God that relocated the incompetent Jonathan from Aso Rock will never allow Nigeria to be plundered again. God pass una! ![]() |
deandavid:The fallacy of hasty generalisation becomes inevitable and does not apply when the difference in ratio is really really extensive. I am from the SE, Imo to be precise and over a 130,000 people voted for Buhari in Imo but that is not to say I should feel offended when people say "Igbos voted for GEJ." Likewise in Kano, over 200,000 people voted for GEJ, but that doesnt necessarily invalidate the statement that "Kano state voted for Buhari" does it? Besides if you check the first sentence of my statement, I said "A lot..." |
Apina:Stop acting like a tout and kindly explain what you mean by your response. What part of my statement do you not understand or do you not agree with? |
49cents:This is the exact myopic reasoning I was talking about which is prevalent amongst Niger-Deltans and GEJ supporters. Why on earth do they automatically assume that a probe of missing funds is an attack or a call for an attack of GEJ?... PLEASE I NEED AN ANSWER FOR THIS QUESTION!! Is it GEJ that stole the alleged missing moneys?... Did anyone say GEJ was the culprit?... A review of the names indicted for the $6.8bn fuel subsidy fraud, the individuals that made up that cabal were from diverse ethnicities and tribes and religions; as a matter of fact, there were very few Nigeri Deltans. So I ask again, why is it that whenever there's a call to investigate this matter, many Niger-Deltans and other Jonathan supporters switch to defensive mode? The bolded part of your statement is the exact myopia I'm talking about. |
Darlduchi:It is a well know fact that common sense isn't really common. You simply are one of the people I referred to in my post; I didnt expect you to reason differently. |
light004:First of all, all proven cases of fraud usually started off as mere 'allegations.' That we are not sure if any funds are missing, but there was a weighty allegations by a high ranking public official, it only makes sense to investigate when you are not sure. If investigations were not done, maybe no one would have known of the $1.48bn which the audit report revealed. A responsible government would have simply investigated such a massive allegation without delay but it took several unnecessary public outcries before the call to investigate was obliged. Eventually, the results of the investigations and audit showed that the actual fraud was much smaller than what was originally alleged. But now in retrospect, any smart person who studied the body language of the government in the handling of those allegations would know there was more to it than meets the eyes; there is certainly something fishy about the way the allegations and investigations were handled especially when you consider that the prime suspect (petroleum minister) in several of the allegations was still allowed to be the judge in her own case. You say there are more important things the new government should be focusing on but have you imagined the sheer magnetude of that allegation?... Have you imagined how much the country would be saving if and if the allegation turns out to be even partially true?... I do not know about you but with all sincerity, I think it makes sense that these investigations are carried out by totally neutral bodies. |
cescky:Read my statement again, this time take a look at the very first sentence and you will get my drift, "A LOT" is not the same thing as "ALL." I wasn't referring strictly to the statement of the 'one human being' mentioned here. That being said, I still stand by my original statement, A lot of Niger-Deltans and GEJ supporters feel a call to probe fraud is an indirect attack against the president; this is preposterous because the accusers did not accuse the president of being the culprit. It is not a hidden fact that a lot of Niger-Deltans and South Easterners (strangely) feel a kind of paranoia whenever the word 'probe' is mentioned concerning any fraud in the oil industry. Whenever the word 'probe' is mentioned, they all jump instantly into defensive mode making it seem like it is a witch hunt against the Niger Delta or GEJ. I see this as a very myopic stance because if you take a look at the people accused of stealing fuel subsidy funds for instance, they were mainly non-Niger Deltans and one would have thought the owners of the oil would be more concerned about recovering these stolen revenue. Adyrin:lol... Thou F00L. I don't know why I find this amusing... but slow down and take a look at my first sentence again; "A LOT" is not the same thing as "ALL." ...and yes, my village in the South East has palm-oil. |
Rose2014:Okay please yourself! In fact, you can start popping your champagne in celebration of your prophecy or prediction, you can now start saying things like "I told you so" because we all know N1 cannot be equal to $1. Just like I said, whatever rocks your canoe ![]() |
Rose2014:Focus on statements made by Buhari and not statements being made by mischievous journalists on his behalf or statements people WISH was made by Buhari. This isnt a time for jokes any more, elections are over. During the campaigns, there were more important things to spend time on rather than expending energy responding to every flimsy allegation by all and sundry. If you like, you can continue to overlook the REAL promises made while you spend your life focusing on 'alleged' promises. But if that's what gives you peace, if that's what rocks your boat, then feel free to please yourself! |
anonimi:I suppose you will also hold Buhari to account for a promise he made in 1983? |
Rose2014:Open the Vanguard link you posted and point out where Buhari mentioned that he would make "naira-equal-in-value-to-dollar" Before you respond to this my post, just take a minute and open the link you posted. Why cant people just be serious? ![]() |
anonimi:I totally understand your point of view, true federalism would be the best thing that can ever happen to Nigeria. However, I thought this thread was about APC/Buhari's 2015 campaign promises?... Can we really hold APC to account if they dont do that?... the APC can simply tell you it wasnt a part of their 2015 campaign promise and they wouldn't be failing on their promise if they do that. Why cant this thread just focus on Buhari/APC's campaign promises (as the title states) instead of "What we wish Buhari/APC should do"?... Or would you want to change the title of the thread? |
anonimi:Just like I said earlier, there are lots of REAL promises which we can focus on. Why expend your energy on 'alleged' promises thereby turning this thread to a joke? The elections are over, the political season is over. We need to be focussed on the real promises else Buhari/APC will simply ignore the rants again (just like they did before the elections and tell you they have better things to think about other than responding to every single flimsy allegation by all and sundry). |
omolami: omolami: omolami:@omolami This is meant to be a serious thread, whether we like it or not, Buhari is NIgeria's president for at least the next 4 years. The elections are over and the time for politicking and jokes have passed. There were lots of promises by Buhari/APC (both realistic and clearly fake) and there were also lots of fabricated promises which mischievous individuals concocted and tagged to Buhari. But this is no longer the time to clown around (like you are doing). Let's please focus on the real promises. |
EMMYLASHTINS:Buhari did not put a timeline... Buhari never mentioned 2 months; the Amanpour interview video is still available on the CNN website. Also Buhari never mentioned anything about making N1=$1. Elections are over now and NIgerians have a huge task of holding the president elect accountable to his words. Let us not trivialise this by quoting misleading political falsehoods which he never really said. This is no longer a time for the jokes. |
anonimi:Why don't we concentrate on 2015 election promises?... What you have posted is a promise made by CPC, why dont we focus on APC promises? |
Conversion could simply mean, selling off the planes and buying proper passenger planes. |
A lot of Niger-Deltan's and GEJ supporters make a huge mistake by assuming that a probe or search for any missing $20bn automatically means an attack against GEJ or Niger-Delta. What these people fail to realise is that the oil cabal members responsible for these thefts are mainly from outside the Niger Delta and if these monies are recovered, the ND will still get the largest portion of the funds. Sometimes I just wonder how an entire region filled with educated and enlightened people can just be so myopic. |
Catching them young! ![]() |
My God! What kind of barbaric jungle do we live in?... I can bet my last dime that the contractors responsible for this murder will not even be questioned, let alone be prosecuted or jailed. For how long will the black man continue to be an animal?... Someone would soon say they warned people not to pass under the bridge, but what about the simplest safety measure of placing barricades to prevent people from passing? |
iyrojc:What exactly are you talking about?... That the thumbprinted ballot paper booklet in the video was fake?.. or that all the people interviewed in the video were actors? ![]() |
missoloye:The PDP and the Nigerian Legislators are to be blamed. You want to know why?... (1) PDP agents were CAUGHT thumbprinting massively and intimidating voters who were sympathetic to other parties. That was the reason why the election in Imo was cancelled in the first instance. (2) I also included the legislators as culprits also because they have failed to pass any meaningful laws to punish electoral offenders. As long as the only punishment for electoral offences is a cancellation of the election, Nigerian politicians will continue to rig and subvert the electoral process. Evidence of PDP rigging and reason why the special day of this lovely couple has been ruined: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6XiWeBSd1c |
Oceemo:I have no idea why the Nairaland Mods decided to ignore this thread completely. This very devilish act of disenfranchising voters was the sole reason why over 144,715 voter were cancelled on April 11th; this was the reason why the election was declared inclusive and this is the reason INEC is spending scarce resources conducting a supplementary exercise today. If only the perpertators of this act can be punished for just one in our lifetime. Like I said earlier, I have no idea why the Nairaland Mods have decided to ignore this thread completely. cc: Seun, Lalasticlala |
Futureleader201:PDP induced INEC officials were caught.. same thing happened 2 weeks ago and thats why the election in these areas were cancelled in the first place... Now the PDP guys are simply doing it again.https://www.nairaland.com/2272892/pdp-rigging-imo-exposed-video |
Everfrank:Why would they NEVER mention the party affiliations of the people caught rigging?... These our journalists always aid and abet these election riggers by hiding their identity. luchy34:Are you blind to the bold APC broom logo on Rochas' chest? In as much as this story might be hogwash, the picture posted is very recent, a 2015 picture. |
