My fiancée is a doctor and has practiced in Maryland and Michigan.. Regardless of if you are married or not, they ask you before you sign the certificate that do you acknowledge that the baby is yours before you sign the certificate.. If you say no or the mom says no, you can't sign it.. That's the way it is in those states.. Cant speak for other states though. There are cases where some people leave it blank until the DNA test is complete.. My madam said she has seen situations with married people where it wasn't the husband that signed

Golden Lady: Which state allows this? When someone is "legally" married all the states I know of automatically consider the husband the father. If another man is the father both men have to sign a special document acknowledging that.

Try getting out Manhattan after work via your car to say Queens; the share amount of traffic plus the high toll you have to pay will convince you immediately that taking the train is a wiser decision and better decision...You pay at least about $50.00 (about $20 for toll plus another $30.00 or more to park your car) each day if you drive to work in NYC but a subway round trip might only cost you $4.00....plus you save on time, gas, wear and tear, frustration, etc...

I see.. but what is the need for the protocol if the person doesn't need government money? There is obvious need and if the person is using their personal money, he shouldn't have to go through that amount of protocol..

I am facing a similar situation where i am in the process of planning a free medical mission with a couple of doctor friends in my place and we are not soliciting funds from anyone or any government but still the hoops and requirements they are making us jump through is ridiculous.. You are talking about peoples lives here...

The LGI will look at d project, ascertain if its a worthy course, make necessary corrections, contributions and criticisms before forwarding the proposal to the NYSC state Cordinator.

The NYSC state cordinator now takes takes a critical look at d project, if it is something that can be handled at state level, he/she will release funds for it. But if the project is a big one dat will gulp a lot of funds, it is sent to ABJ for approval and release of funds.

Now, I'm not in anyway saying the young man didn't do a fantastic job. Infact, he did an excellent work, cos these types of projects are usually time consuming, energy sapping and whatnot. And the protocol one has to undergo is something else altogether. Kudos to him!

There is a due process when it comes to addressing the press, information should be passed through your boss and approval gotten before it goes to the press so as to prevent misinformation.... There might be other issues that they dont have access to information on and therefore cant authoritatively provide information.

I personally think, the visit of the head of Google to Lagos State has underlining importance in the emphasis Lagos state seems to be getting on the international and global scale in terms of good governance and a place they feel they can do business.
Eric Schmidt is one of the most powerful men on the planet and the fact that he has chosen to visit Lagos state can be nothing but good news for Nigeria and shows, in some measure, the intentions Google has for Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
Lagos State could soon become the IT hub of Africa, and with the backing of these powerful Internet giants, they can help us realise and achieve this goal maybe sooner than any one of use expected.

Rather than come up with constructive arguments (if you don't know who Eric Schmidt is and/or against his visit to Nigeria?) you will rather talk about trivial stuff like whether a man should cross leg when sitting down and what Fashola was wearing... are those the real things that matter to you more than power, technology, clean water, good transport links etc?

I will also like to mention that I have met Fashola in person and he is of a superior mentality to most of those he is governing and i sometimes wonder how he is able to function/govern effectively in that kind of environment..

I dont understand how what Fashola was wearing entered the equation. The thread was supposed to be about a business meeting, una dey give fashion advice.. Thats the nigerian mentality, even person wey never save one naira pay their rent finish go dey wear gucci in order to impress. Eric Schmidt was dressed in business casual (note the blazer and slacks without a tie) and fashola was dressed casual too.

I dont get why we practice such self hate. Na our forefathers wey invent suit? Arabs rarely wear anything but their traditional outfits when transacting deals worth billions. Only Nigerians will abandon our own culture to go and embrace other peoples culture to please them. Eric Schmidt runs google, he doesn't own it. Larry Page and Sergey Brin who own google and are worth $17.5 billion each still wear t shirt and jeans to their meetings.

I also dont get why everything has to turn into a tribal war. How do you logically explain going from googles visit to ibo versus yoruba? The thing no make sense at all. Nigerians are our own worst enemy and since we cant stay united, this is the reason why these leaders continue to cheat us. We are so quick to sell out each other for money and so busy fighting each other that we cant achieve anything.

I dont also get why people criticize fashola so much.. He is the best performing public official in this current government in my opinion. If he were to run for president in 2015, he would get my vote.

I am not saying that he isnt chopping money because i cant prove otherwise but i would rather have someone that chops money and still performs than someone that chops money and feeds me empty promises. The man can govern and the guy has a vision. I'd rather have him lead me than a blind man with no vision leading me.
