Ijaws are known everywhere to be land grabbers all over the world. Same thing happened in Ilaje, Ondo state some years ago. They have this stupid belief that every riverine area belongs to them, maybe they should go and claim the atlantic ocean too.
The Igbo didn't see this coming.
They used their fishing excuse and settled on the swamp fringes of Igboland, now they claim it.

Being good to those Ijaw is a recipe for disaster.

Hmmmm...

From Barcanista to Edwin Clark, Timipre Sylva to the "Abandoned Property" thieves; it seems treachery and shameless turncoat "belle-face" morals are common attributes among these "Our Oil" people.
'Our oil' people now crawl allover Hausa/Fulani house begging for acceptance in exchange for little oil money change.
What an irony!

They will even deny their blood brothers just for Hausa/Fulani acceptance.

The list of those treacherous faces keep increasing everyday.

They could very much be worse than the Yoruba in treachery. Quote be anywhere!

An attempt by NLNG to Ibanise Bonny people in 2002 failed simply because their language is/was never Ibani (spoken simply by a very few) but Ubani Igbo (not just any Igbo dialect) which goes with the fact that the actual name of Bonny is Ubani.

When asked why they don’t speak Ibani, their reply is always “Nnem ezim, Nnam ezim”, meaning my mother did not teach me, my father did not teach me. The truth is that their parents never spoke Ibani, so how could they teach their kids what their great great grand fathers never spoke?

He opined that what it takes to preserve a language include
to teach it in schools, printing appropriate literature books,
and promoting its use publicly and privately.

In his lecture, Amasenibo Eric G. Jumbo listed out the
current threat to Ibani Language which include Commerce
and Christian Religion.

Also speaking, Warisenibo Abinye Morgan Ogolo,
challenged the people of Bonny and Opobo Kingdoms to
make concerted efforts to stop speaking Ibo language.

This will help to rediscover Ibani Language so that it will
take its rightful place despite the damage it has suffered
over the years.

The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro L G A, represented by the
Council Secretary, Mr. Sunny J. Pepple, called on volunteer
experts of the Ibani language to partner with the Council to
revive the language.

Freeglobe, i was doing something serious..but im back now.

The true ownership of Port Harcourt, by Port Harcourt i mean the PH township from station down to Borikiri will be determined one day, it would have come sooner had the 'Oil River State' agitation not been shelved.

We are at a point in our soceity where people have become more enlightened and civilised and cannot be fighting unnecessarily over issues that the true facts are easily accessible..The Okrikans claim to have a wtitten agreement with the British..The documents surely in Okrika possesion will be verified by British as Britain isnt in heaven but on earth.

Already, we have contacted the National Archives of Great Britain and they've conformed that copies of the original Port Harcourt Historical documents are with them, so no problems at all.

Regardless, i believe Ikwerres should be the ones pushing for any territorial claims or name change in Port Harcourt and not Igbos.
Correction: Igbos are not pushing for a name change rather they referred to Portharcourt by its original name.

Of course, name change has to be done by the natives but what the Igbo nation will not do is to sit and watch Portharcourt claimed by a non-Igboid community. At that stage, the Igbo will interfere and stop such nonsense.

I remember when River State government wanted to stop Bonny people from speaking Igbo and force them to start speaking Ijaw (this was before Bayelsa State was created) but the natives rejected it and asserted their Igboness.

Now some lone minority voice will come here shouting Bonny is Ijaw. Nonsense.

You claim you are fighting for your sovereignty; so why force your identity on people that wouldn't want to be associated with you? Ikweres have said time and again that they are not igbos, we should respect that and move on. That they speak a version of igbo language doesn't make them igbo. Anyone can pick up any language, learn it and stick with it.

Please stop already.

The Igbo never claimed the little Igalla land in Anambra which would have been very easy to do, they are already Igbonised, yet we promote them, told the whole world there are Igalla people in Anambra.
Same way the Igbo have always acknowledged the Okrika connection to the southern fringes of Igweocha.

But what did the Igbo get in return?

That notwithstanding, if anyone said the Igbo renamed it when they never did in the first place, then it is really annoying and confrontational. The protesters didn't rename the town in the first place.

this is what i have been telling them but they dont seem to get it. nwanlecha paziena obiagu1 and ezeagu do not support a biafra with ikwerre because some ikwerres say they are not igbo.

advocating for an all igbo biafra does not mean ikwerres are more important than us. the fight to include them in biafra should not be understood as a plea for them to join us rather it should be seen as a struggle between we igbos and northerners over what is our own.

Northerners understand the Igboman's nature when they balkanized the Igboland. they know the Igboman is proud and that once you set them against themselves the two parties will be too proud to make re conciliatory moves, which is at the very heart of diplomacy. they used it to divide us and are still using it and sadly, our people are falling for it. we are too proud to make concessions and compromise for igbo unity; we do not seem to rise above intra-ethnic wranglings; we lack diplomacy that is why they sometimes accuse us of not knowing how to play politics. imagine ijaws are now using it on us to tell us who is igbo and who is not. what a shame!

If your lawful wedded wife goes after another man, history will blame your wife but not as much as it will record you as not being man enough to get back your wife.
Point of correction.
I never advocated abandoning Ikwerre or any Igboid group.

If it means war, we fight it to a bitter end.

China never abandoned any Chinese land be it Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan.

The only thing we can do for them is give them full autonomy right within an Igbo Province in Biafra(SS/SE) or in Biafra(Igbo only). Ikwerre land is Igbo land. Pure and simple.

Igboland is Igboland and we give up not an inch. Our forefathers did not migrate in vein in search of land only for us to throw them away.

Excerpt from memoirs of Hugh Crow (1765 – 1829), an English sea captain.

"The inhabitants of Bonny, when our author last visited that port, amounted to about 3,000. They are chiefly a mixture of the Eboe, or Heebo, and the Brass tribes; the latter deriving their name from the importation into their country, which lies to the northward and westward of Bonny, of a kind of European-made brass pans, . . .
It is probable (and this opinion entertained by Captain Adams and others) that Bonny, and the towns on the low line of the coast on either side of it were originally peopled from the Eboe country, and that before the commencement of the slave trade, if it then existed, the habitants employed themselves in the making of salt, . . .
The King of New Calabar, in the neighbourhood, and Pepple, king of Bonny, were both of Eboe descent, of which also are the mass of the native."
