What about the statement that Ngwa doesn't point to anywhere else as a place of origin because this completely invalidates the Ngwa/Ohuhu story? Name the place, we shall locate their elders to ask them where they came from ![]() |
ChinenyeN: Mbaise have no memory of migration. They claim that they and Ngwa are autochthonous. Also, Ngwa origin doesn't "point to Mbaise" (or anywhere for that matter) as a place of origin. The origin points to and emphasizes on our common ancestry. It wouldn't be out of point to say you lied here. Ngwa autochthonous Where were they migrating from and crossing Imo River?Wherever they were migrating from, name it, it's left for me to ask those people where they came from not an Ngwa. |
All these whining by few disgruntled people helps no one. Ngwa origin points to Mbaise. If Mbaise people say they came from Zululand, automatically that's where Ngwa people came from as well except they are not from Mbaise. Every other argument, to me, is irrelevant. Just like me, if Nri people say they came from Abidjan, that's where I came from as well. To know my root, I'll simply research Nri history. So Mbaise people, where are you from? |
What's so special about front page? |
shymmex: Why can't he critique Tinubu? It's Orji's own problem to mention Awo, I'm not involved in that. However, Tinubu has no moral ground to criticise any governor at all. If those in the SW listen to him, let him restrict his utterances to the SW. |
@ shymmex and ilugunboy, If the criticism came from someone like Soyinka, then I'll listen but it's so irritating that a thief like Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State that did virtually nothing for Lagos but loot the state dry was criticising another governor. Give me a gun and I'll shoot him without even thinking about it. Let him take his hypocrisy to the SW, simple! |
ypzilanti: The link shows that this happened in March 2011. Why the front page? Although still relevant.Oh really, no more Igbo news to make the front page? |
A beg, they should take their fvcking criticism to the North and SW, we don't need hypocrites. We'll criticise our people and handle things our way, so fvck off both El Rufai and Tinubu and any other would be attention seeker. |
^^^ A beg, make una fight them well oo and make sure you defeat them so they won't find their way down to Igboland. lol On a serious note, you got me thinking because you ar.oused some of the anger and "hate" I have for the Fulani. However, solution is needed, which ever way it could be solved, let it be done. By the way, when I say "grazing route" I did not mean land to occupy. Damn, is arou.sed a bad word to be censored? |
^^^ Well, I don't know if that will mean changing our ways to accommodate them thereby reinforcing their born to rule mentality. It's a very difficult situation, whether we accept it or not, if not tackled with compromise made here and there, it'll even get worse. Changing their way of life overnight seems unattainable to me because it's their culture; they will only change their nomadic life with time. |
^^^ Ranches are common even here in Canada and the fence is simple with texas gates which motorists can pass through. It will have to involve reorientating the Fulanis and teaching them how to make hay so there won't be need to move down South during the dry seasons in search of green grass. This could restrict them in their region in the North where there's vast land. Which ever way, government has to act and do so with every sense of urgency. |
Didier King: Thx for the info... wasn't really aware. Where do these industries have the highest concentration?Autoparts are mostly in Nnewi, the rest are in Onitsha. |
You raised a serious point about molestation. That is bound to happen, for sure. My opinion is that if our police is doing their job, working with Fulani tribal leaders, such offenders will be prosecuted. If the people are confident such offenders must be brought to book, they may not take the law into their hands, however, this is Nigeria and Nigerian Police is Nigerian Police. ![]() It still all comes down to government's inaction. |
Didier King: Wao! never new Anambra State has higher Medium and Low Scale Entrepreneurs than Lagos StateMost of Made in Nigeria cables, autoparts, plastics, roofing sheets and paints come from Anambra. Lagos is mostly large scale industries. |
^^^ Some part of your concern was addressed in my last post. However, I understand what you mean by future expansion but if we treat such routes as greenbelt areas, then it might work. Future developers will stay away from any greenbelt area/route even if it wasn't a grazing route. |
CAMEROONPRIDE: good initiative but i have a pb with number 1..... which land will be used ........? do you think people will offer their lands like that? fulani should back in their state and settle ranches there ...we are in 2012 nomadic way of life is obsoleteRanches are good but it will be a little hard to end their nomadic life except we'll send them packing from Nigeria, but they are Nigerians. They have always moved their cattle from North to South since I've known them and there are lands not in use they've always used to get their cattle to the South. Every land is not farmed so routes are possible, moreover, creating those routes does not mean relinquishing ownership of such lands to Fulanis, because the lands still belong to the indigenous people, rather it's a kind of lease from the government to them. |
One of many possible solutions to Fulani clashes in Nigeria is this: 1. Set up a committee with state governments' involvement to allocate the Fulanis grazing routes from North to South and forbid them from grazing elsewhere. 2. Set up special police or rangers posts that are within certain radius of each other, maybe 2-3 hrs, to monitor violators along the routes. 3. Forbid farmers from ever killing Fulani cattle even if they graze on their farmland, rather they should report such to the rangers, who will be provided with a direct line, to track down those herdsmen. 4. Punishment should include either heavy fines, seizure of the cattle or jail term. 5. Money from fines will be used to compensate the farmers/herdsmen who are victims. |
What would one expect to happen when Igala people dress like Hausas? |
Anambra are not Igbos, we came from Igalla. ![]() I heard some came from Benin. Walahi, e no dey easy to disclaim ones ethnicity because you'll be in a constant battle with your conscience, so I still hail Ikwerre people |
All these problems are caused by our government's inaction. ![]() |
afam4eva: This is great news. I feel pity for CR state.LMAO! You guys go kill person for here. On a serious note, an average Anambrarian prefers one indivisible Igboland. |
Now I believe that a city could be built on water. Over 100,000 inhabitants, kai! |
^^^ 50km/hr is not too high! |
Is afonne not siblings? |
Hate the idea of exporting raw crude, every drop should be refined by Orient at least adding value to the crude oil and more money for the state government. The refinery should be completed very fast but I will want to know if the federal government receives royalties if the oil is only refined.
The plan was to use the revenue from crude oil export to complete the refinery. |
Anambra is now a Niger Delta state. Niger Delta kwenu! ![]() |
If our government lacks ideas on how to resolve the issue, there are many ways to reduce the frequent Fulani clashes in Nigeria. My own suggestion is: 1. They should relocate most of the soldiers from barracks in Enugu, Ibadan, and Zaria to Plateau to contain the situation for as long as possible. Enough army presence is required. 2. Set up a committee with state governments' involvement to allocate the Fulanis grazing routes from North to South and forbid them from grazing elsewhere. 3. Set up special police or rangers posts that are within certain radius of each other, maybe 2-3 hrs, to monitor violators along the routes. 4. Forbid farmers from ever killing Fulani cattle even if they graze on their farmland, rather they should report such to the rangers, who will be provided with a direct line, to track down those herdsmen. 5. Punishment should include either heavy fines, seizure of the cattle or jail term. 6. Money from fines will be used to compensate the farmers/herdsmen who are victims. |
Onlytruth: I don't really agree with the logic behind the Ops point because there is an ON GOING Fulani vs everyone else war in different parts of Nigeria. It is even disingenuous to compare Fulani with other settler groups in different parts of Nigeria.I completely disagree with you. We can't take the back door or like you said "doctrine of necessity" to solve social issues. First of all, Nigeria has a constitution and every Nigerian has the right to reside wherever he chooses without fear. It's incessant failure of the government to resolve the issue that's the problem not the Fulanis. Fulanis need grazing lands, farmers need farmlands. It's not beyond the government to forbid Fulanis from grazing in certain areas, but they should be provided by law where to graze legally. Good you brought up Hausa vandals in the North, Alayes in Lagos and Igbos. Just a simple scenario to put this straight. Assuming the Hausa vandals continue pillaging Igbo businesses in the North and the Igbos decide that enough is enough and decide to even initiate the first attack without waiting to be attacked first. What happens when the situation gets out of control like it is in Jos and the Igbos hitting the Hausas really bad? Will the Igbos be sacked from the North? Should the Igbos always wait to be killed first before they attack because they are settlers or mugus? As an Igbo, I am worried because this is a very dangerous precedent. Our government should do their job. How many killers have they arrested and prosecuted? |
From now on, I'll boycott anything google. They should mind their business which is software! |
solomon111: The Niger-delta brotherhood is beyond oil.Niger Delta is different from South South. Cross River will remain a South South state but will cease to be a Niger Delta state. Niger Delta include Abia, Imo and Ondo as well. |
It's only happening because they killed senators. Now, had the fulanis not been known to cause trouble and murder their host communities all over nigeria i doubt things would have been like this. It is just a consequences of their past and present actions that they refuse to give up.
It's a fight between two peoples, simple. The whole blame is on the government and the security agencies for their failure to arrest and prosecute trouble makers according to the law. Even if the Fulanis are known trouble makers, it's still not a reason to sack a whole community, settlers or indigenous. It's the job of the security agencies to secure the life and properties of everyone without bias. |
