PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Break Up By 2015? by Obiagu1(m):
The very sincere truth is that a Biafra that includes the minority groups is not possible if Nigeria was allowed to disintegrate into as many countries as possible. The likes of Isoko will become a country on their own, because they feel they have oil, dumping their brothers, the Urhobos. Itsekiri, Ikwerri, Ibibio etc will become countries since many of them have the dream of becoming Sheiks and ultra wealthy because of oil, no other reason!

A Biafra that includes minority groups could only happen if the UN specified the number of countries in any post Nigeria like in Sudan where we have just north and south. In this situation, they will resist, create problems everywhere because they feel their oil is meant for them and them alone. Every other person is a parasite.

Any talk of SE/SS is a mere decoy, just a means to achieve the ulterior motive. Scenario #2 will happen if they are forced into a union with others and will result in severe resistance.

I look forward to post Nigeria in any form.

@ Beaf, it's now obvious that you are the one distorting the truth. You still have not provided the list of Midwestern top officialS executed by the troops heading to Lagos as you claimed. There's no amount of repetition that will change the truth.

The fact remains that a Biafran troop passed through the Midwest on their way to Lagos and meant no harm to Midwesterners. Any Midwestern top official killed was after the troop was stopped at Ore and war began fully in the Midwest with Midwesterners fighting with other Nigerians, thus became enemies of Biafra. That was how it happened and you can't alter the truth to justify the reason you joined Nigerian forces. You called it invasion but we call it passing through with no harm intended. You don't expect us to jump over you to Lagos, the seat of the government, without passing through your territory. If Abuja was the capital then, we'll pass through Igala/Idoma territory. Period!

Beaf: If I name them, would you have a clue? Have you ever heard the name, Ibuje? Please find out and come back.
You claim was that Midwest top officialS were executed and you named Ibuje. Were are the others?
PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Break Up By 2015? by Obiagu1(m): 5:05pm On May 25, 2012
@ Beaf, we are still waiting for the information on top officials in Midwest that were killed during the war. Either admit it was a complete falsehood and stop making such claim or you provide the list of those top officials or source. Still waiting ...

Your source:
In a pattern of behavior that can only be described as self-destructive, the "liberation" force went molesting, Molesting, kidnapping, torturing, detaining and even killing local figures whose support they badly needed (14, 17). For example, Mr. J. O Adeola (Commissioner of Police), Mr. Olu Akpata (Permanent Secretary), Mr. Sam Umweni (of Radio Nigeria, Benin) and Mr. J Imoukhuede (Head of the civil service), were abducted from Benin and taken back to Biafra. They remained in prison (without trial) until the end of the war (17). In his memoirs, Ademoyega acknowledges: "The 18th battalion stationed in that port (Warri) was a ragged, ill-equipped and ill-controlled unit. Reports of their lawlessness in town had been scandalous." Such actions (among others) did not endear them to the people they came to liberate from "the north". Ademoyega summarized it thus: "Biafran entry into the Midwest was seen by the people, especially the non-Ibos of the State, as an act of foreign aggression."

Beaf: If there is another Biafra and the same thing happens, I will not be part of it, NEITHER WILL MY PEOPLE BE. You cannot conquer people or look down on them and hope they will be allies by some miracle.
This your post helps my point. Assuming, if a Biafra was created tomorrow with some of your Isoko brothers agreeing to it and fight for it, you that do not support it fight against it and your side wins, what will you write in the papers? My people were not carried along! This is the point I tried to make, you can never get everyone on board and whoever side that wins will claim whatever they want, they will always be right.

Oops! Seems like you modified your post smiley

^^^

Well, it's only your dad that knows exactly who he was during that war.
That aside, I wonder how the US would fight in Afghanistan without passing through other territories. Whatever I said above was as it was; no need rewriting history.
Now when you say "Biafra phucked up by not taking the minorities serious", that will be far from the truth. Minority groups are many and there were many interests, moreover war was raging. There was no way everyone will go with your view no matter how gifted you are, you can't convince everyone.
The people that headed Republic of Benin were convinced, if not they wouldn't have gone ahead with it. Those Ijaws that fought alongside Biafrans bought the idea and did so because they were convinced. It's only a fool that would ignore talking to others in such situation.

Even today, when you talk about Biafra, many are not buying it despite the fact they are not happy with Nigeria. Will you tomorrow, if another Biafra was created and it fell, say that the minorities were not carried along if those that did not agree with its creation cripple the effort? For the fact, Biafra 2nd in command was a minority.
PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Break Up By 2015? by Obiagu1(m):
Talking about Midwest, it's known that a Biafran contingent lead by Banjo was headed to Lagos and passed through Midwest.
Mission: take the seat of government and end the war. They were stopped at Ore. Republic of Benin was created with no fuss.

Republic of Benin fell so soon and became Nigeria again and was used as a base by Nigerian forces. Fact.
Some of those from Midwest fought alongside Nigerians, thus became enemies of Biafra. Fact.
So Beaf, if your dad was targeted for execution, he must have been working for Nigerian forces so was a high value target/enemy. Fact.

More so, I still don't know how you got into this discussion since the minorities the post you replied to were those within Biafra. Midwesterners were never classified as betrayals by Biafrans because the were never Biafrans. So how would you betray what you are not part of? Now go figure.
PoliticsRe: Will Nigeria Break Up By 2015? by Obiagu1(m): 12:46am On May 25, 2012
Funny that the post Beaf replied to did not mention Midwest but was referring to those within Biafra territory. smiley

PoliticsRe: Nairaland 2012 Ethnic Census by Obiagu1(m): 4:43am On May 24, 2012
odumchi: The Edo people have established themsleves as distinct ethnicities. The Esan, Etsako, Urhobo, Bini, and Isoko are all different ethnicities but they form the Edo nation.

The Akwa/Cross groups are really one ethnicity. For the most part their languages are mutually intelligible, their cultures are very similar, and they are comfortable with the idea of being lumped together.

Please, let's not get into this debate. Just accept the results and stop trying to see a bad meaning behind whatever people do.
Bini, Esan, and Etsako are under Edo while Urhobo and Isoko are under Urhobo. I was surprised at the split but it was late as the poll has started.

Our people are so dumb. sad Ghana is trying to protect this important sector while our leaders are still blind.
It's only a visionary that could rescue Nigeria because all we have are people that can't think.

This is a further vindication that Ojukwu fought for his people when it matters most, to save them from annihilation, despite his love for Nigeria.

However, that does not mean the nation, Biafra, will be cast aside when the situation has not changed after half a century.

I could easily have said 'there are towns in...'
i only used that to paint a picture and u yourself have attested to its existence.
Lets try to be more low toned when seeking clarification or redress. Lest our good intent be misunderstood.

As for that state, you'll be suprised how much i know it... Some peeps that grew up there would buy my knowledge of it, if i were to put it up for sale, so Nwanne ka uche gi diya Maka na abu'm onye njem.
My position on this is that most names for animals are universal in Igboland. Their variants are equally known universally except for someone that grew up in the village and never moved around.
In Igboland, situations like calling duck obogwu and the same name obogwu used for another entirely different bird like dove do not exist when dove already has a name.
When such issues are raised by someone, you should look into it and not just waive it aside as a mere dialect variation.

Sometimes it's irritating seeing something that's completely wrong and someone tries to tell you it's right, it's what we call it when in reality the person may not actually be vast about the names.

odumchi: Funny thing about this is that at my place, we call this 'isam' just like our Ibibio neighbors. I always thought that other Igbo people called it 'mfi' and that 'isam' was an Ibibio loan word.

I'm astonished to find out that our people call it the same thing.
I think it has Ibibio origin. I never knew the actual Igbo name, if we have one for it.
