NO.

I believe in a creator, a grand architect because our universe conforms to laws and definitions but religion is b.s. It assumes a personnel description based on "faith" and as always will end up being superstitious.

The Europeans set out across the Atlantic to get a new frontier in their empire and not just for mining resources

Olodostein:

Your Dad must have eat very well(fresh and organic). It is not uncommon to see our older generation living into their 80's unlike what we see today.

A reputable Doctor once said Cancer, HIV and other "untreatable diseases" cannot survive a very healthy Liver.

I smoke 2 -3 packs a day, like a beer every night and have never come down with influenza or a common cold, I only have been in the hospital once and that was for Typhoid Fever (which nearly killed me, it was chronic and I never felt symptoms till the last stage).
Other than that the only thing that affects my health is ...wait for it,
Krptonite!

Nairaland / General / Because You Guys Will Argue About Anything by ODB1: 5:55pm On Aug 06, 2012
The main characteristics of the skeptically-prone personality (SPP) are:

They are nearly impossible to hypnotize;
As children they questioned the existence of Santa Claus and God;
As adults they continued to doubt the existence of Santa Claus and all forms of supernatural creatures;
As children they played make-believe games, but they recognized the difference between make-believe and reality;
As adults they do not spend more than 50% of their time fantasizing;
They rarely experience hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations (waking dreams), including those involving monsters from outer space or figures from religious traditions);
They rarely pretend to be somebody they're not;
They are mistrustful of memory and consider vividness to be irrelevant to the accuracy of a memory
They are mistrustful of interpretations of sense experiences;
They have little faith in eyewitness testimony;
They can rarely have an orgasm just by using their imagination;
They are mistrustful of tradition and tend to think that the older some idea or practice is the less likely it is to be true or worth engaging in;
They think there is a naturalistic explanation for everything, even if we don't know what it is;
They think people who think they've had a paranormal experience are deluding themselves;
They rarely have out-of-body experiences;
They believe that once you're dead you're dead and can't talk anymore;
They don't engage in automatic writing, Ouija board games, or séances;
They don't believe in magical healing powers, but follow the advice of those promoting science-based medicine;
They trust the results of well-designed controlled studies over beliefs based solely on personal experience;
They haven't experienced spirits or ghosts (see 13);
They tend to dislike intensely those who lie, defraud others, or promote self-serving nonsense as if it were infallible truth;
They don't feel handicapped by their skepticism; on the contrary, they feel empowered by their devotion to reason, logic, critical thinking, empirical evidence, and science;
They don't like lists, unless backed by scientific studies and footnotes *, and they're fond of concepts like the fantasy-prone personality and cognitive dissonance.

Olodostein:

The lasting cure for Cancer lies in eating fresh organic foods and avoiding junk foods and what have you, to keep your Immune system strong. Stay away from polluted areas caused by "Industrial Civilization".

Do not put your hopes on "Big Pharm". People who are out there to take advantage of your fears and produce pills with damaging Side effects.

cancers are viral related, so is diabetes. There is also a genetic link. My dad smoked till he died in his late 80's (no pu33y cancer but a car accident)

Politics / Re: Prepare For Upcoming Floods - NIMET Warns by ODB1: 3:24pm On Aug 06, 2012
more likely I expect floods to the northwest. This year's monsoon in the Sahel is very strong. ITD positions breaching 23 degrees north and sustained mesoscaled systems averaging on a daily basis make this region more flood prone. The southwest is currently experiencing the August Break, the second phase of the bi-modal rain pattern to the south is generally lower than the first phase so I don't see heavy rains like was first observed over the southwest. Floodings will definitely occur more as a result of lack of flood preventive infrastructure

edicolove: Too many contradictions and blunders in Bakare's statements:

1. From his message, the poor cannot attain greatness. They are disqualified by their poverty.
2. He admitted that God put GEJ there but he still contested against him. Did he just discover God put him there or did he try to go against God's will when he contested against GEJ?
3. He claimed the Niger Delta benefited from pre colonial Nigeria but forgot that the North and south west has harvested billions of dollars from the investment since the 70s. IBB alone siphoned $12 billion during the gulf oil windfall. And over this same period, the ND has been totally devastated. The regions he is talking about were not devastated but rather developed to an extent. So how long and how much does it take to pay back?
4. He said Lord Lugard did not form Nigeria and quoted a bible passage that God forms the boundary of Nations. So what happened to nations that have divided and are still dividing ( USSR, Germany, Sudan, Ethiopia, etc). Did God not form their boundaries or has God changed his mind? If the later is true, can God not change his mind then on Nigeria?

The last man that spoke like this was Obama's former pastor who Obama had to distance himself from. He almost cost Obama his election because Americans don't tolerate stuff like this.

Funny how some say Tunde Bakare is a true man of God more than other Pastors but the last time I checked, Pastor Adegoye has triggered the building of a whole new city, transforming millions in the process. Pastor Oyedepo is building what is practically an new world class city inside Nigeria. If you step into Canaan Land, you will be awed what you will see. Absolutely visionary development that was built purely by Nigerians. You might not like the guy, but you cannot deny his ingenuity. These men don't talk much. What you see about them on the papers are journalists trying to make news off them but they are inspiring and leading millions to greatness and generating more jobs than some state governments in Nigeria. I have never seen any thing that Bakare has done for society apart from criticisms. At least Gani criticized and put his words to action. Talk they say is cheap! Smh!

O.D.B.:
GROWING THE COCOA BEAN
From Seedling to Tree

<
Farmers grow cocoa trees on small farms in hot, rainy environments, mostly in areas near the equator. Cocoa is a delicate and sensitive crop, and farmers must look after the trees, making sure the trees are protecting from the wind and sun. Such care is particularly important for younger trees, up to four years old.

Cacao seedlings are often sheltered by other trees, like banana, plantain, coconuts or hardwood trees. Seedlings take a few months to grow before they are ready to be transplanted. Once the trees are established, the farmers must fertilize the soil and watch the trees closely for signs of distress.

With careful care, most cocoa trees begin to bear fruit in the fifth year, although some cocoa trees can yield pods in the third and forth years. A cocoa tree reaches peek production in approximately 10 years and will continue producing pods at a high level for an additional 12-13 years. It is not uncommon to find trees 30-40 years old, still producing pods.

Bearing Fruit
Cocoa farms are awash in color. Young cocoa leaves are large, red, and glossy, but darken to green when mature. Moss and colorful lichens often cling to the bark of cocoa trees, and in some areas beautiful orchids grow on the branches.

Thousands of tiny, waxy pink or white five-pedaled blossoms cluster together on the trunk and older branches. But only three to 10 percent of these blossoms will mature into full fruit.

The fruit grows as green or maroon pods on the trunk and main branches. Shaped like an elongated melon tapered at both ends, these pods ripen to a golden or sometimes scarlet hue with multicolored flecks.

I will just leave this here for the Oduans.

naturalwaves: Shut d crap,there is a level a person must get to in civil service before being made a perm serc.It is not by appointment,it is by merit ok?

you are a magga!
perm sec appointments are similar to ambassadorial nominations. You can do it the hard way or you can be appointed. The perm sec field has been reseved for most times for career civil servants and it is not naturally by merit but for the longest serving director from the right geo-political zone.
