Mo An Ikwerre man can here Igbo Language but the Igbos can't understand most of their words. After all the Igbos chased them out of ibo Land giving them a name tag called OSU (OUTCAST)
Not true, Ikwerre dialect is vast, Ozuaha, Ndoni/Egbema is the same language with most part of Imo state, while inside PH town various but Igbos hear them.

Ikweres are not genetically related to Igbos in any way. Ikweres are more genetically related to Yorubas
The problem is that Ikwerre speak Igbo and language defines who you are, Yorubas are Yoruba because they speak Yoruba. Ikwerre people own can’t be different, they can drop their Ikwerre dialect of Igbo and start speaking Bini or Yoruba then people will no longer see them as Igbos. You can’t be speaking Igbo language and be claiming to belong to another tribe.

Ikwerre people are Igbos because their language is pure Igbo, but politics in Nigeria is making them to deny being Igbo.

Okupe should stop stressing himself.. no vacancy in Aso rock till 2031.
Try to get sense, presidential election is different from state government election. In a sane country where election is free and fair, independent candidate with no party have won presidential elections in some countries where people’s vote count. People vote individual not party as it is done in Nigeria.

You see how you're being clever by half?

Igbos born in Lagos that can speak yoruba are yoruba abi? Yoruba are Benin people since they share words and culture abi?

You're logic is very flawed. You guys always make claims without asking questions. Some of you always claim Omoku but don't even know any roads leading to Omoku. We just celebrated Nchaka festival, why didn't you come and witness it then ask questions to know a bit about the culture but you automatically declare that Ogba is Igbo.

You lots are funny
You are still not getting it, you don’t know what is indigenous language. Spanish and Portuguese is the same Latin language that it’s two dialects evolved into Spanish and Portuguese politically during the Roman Empire. Someone that learn a language are not indigenous to that language.

We no be Igbo.
Nobody is forcing you to be Igbo, the nature have made you Igbo forever, unfortunately if you finish denying not being Igbo you will continue to answer Igbo names, speak Ogba dialect of Igbo and practice Igbo culture in marriages and so on. So God have stuck you guys with Igbo no escape route unless you guys will stop speaking and bearing Igbo names and learn Bini language.

And you guys call others unity beggars? Shame small na. Haba! It's not by force.
There is no unity begging here for people that speak Igbo as their indigenous language. A person that is a citizen of Togo but speak Yoruba as his indigenous language is a Yoruba person irrespective of country he is from. There are Yoruba speaking tribe that call theirselve ife tribe in Togo or Ewe in Cotonu, if they are claiming to be ife or Ewe but not Yoruba, does that make them not to be Yoruba as they called them in Nigeria, the bottom line is that they can speak to each other and can understand each which means that their language is the same. Countries are European creations so also state creation in Nigeria. So that is applicable to Ikwerre, Ogba etc dialects of Igbo language in Rivers State. They speak Igbo and they are Igbos.

So Nobody is begging for unity from people that bear Igbo name and speak Igbo.

So that makes Ogba people Igbo? That means all Africans that speak Afrikaans are Dutch or all Dutch people are Germans by you logic.

You people should continue begging for unity, we'll have nothing to do with is people
Please try to understand the difference between indigenous language and colonial language. Afrikaans is colonial language brought to them by colonialism from Europe, so they can’t be Dutch. In your own case your indigenous language is Igbo, so you people are Igbos.
PoliticsRe: Cost Of Drinking Water Rises In Enugu As Govt Water Project Fails by Odingo1: 8:46pm On Dec 20, 2024
RevDesm0ndJuju:
Zik moved the capital of Eastern Nigeria from Calabar , a coastal city to Enugu all out of tribal sentiments.

Before there was Abuja, Enugu was fulfilling that role with all the resources from the region concentrated in developing an inhabitable Enugu.

Instead of developing Calabar to rival Lagos, tribal sentiments saw Zik move the capital in 1960 to Enugu from Calabar. If not Calabar why not PH? And after doing this , Zik went to Lagos to be dragging it with Yorubas.

It's really appalling that such a large city as Enugu can not fix the water problem.

What's stopping successive governments from piping water from Orji river or 9th mile and using the surrounding hills as gravity pumps to households? For where! Instead a cartel of water tanker operators were left to operate and this same cartel are composed of very powerful people connected to governments that will not let the government to invest in a very simple centralised water supply system. Just imagine the revenue that the state government can generate from simple water works.
Hating on Igbos, calabar was never capital of eastern Nigeria but capital of Nigeria before amalgamation and British move the capital to Lagos before independence. Stop disgracing yourself with false information.

PoliticsRe: What Some States Contributed To The VAT Pool And What They Received - Nov 2024 by Odingo1: 11:14pm On Dec 19, 2024
bigboa:
Very succinctly put.

VAT is a consumption tax. This means it measures the economic activities reported in each state.
Some states like Kano may have a higher level of commercial/economic activity but what VAT is telling us is that a large portion of that data is not being captured.
The idea is simple: State governors have the responsibility to improve their states commercial and economic levels which will then boost the microeconomy (ie standard/cost of living metrics) in the states. The federal government's responsibility is to manage the macroeconomy (security, exchange rate, foreign policy) which it is already doing.

For too long, the federal government has taken on the responsibilities of the states and local governments and while not being able to cater to those responsibilities adequately, the federal government continues to falter and fail while handing a free pass to the state governors who feed fat while doing nothing.
That is the fact, but the problem in Nigeria is that the North is afraid of doing it like that because there is high poverty rate in the North, so basing VAT on place of consumption may affect the north.
How many household in the North uses phone or internet. They only listen to Radio 📻.

Fine, who after Tax Reforms have kicked in, will stop Kano state giving MTN a good deal to set up their headquarters in Kano stae? Or some of their factories producing cards etc up there.

It is the laziness mindset of not thinking out of the box because we are guaranteed monies monty that we don't have to account for that nerds changing, and not just for Northern states.
You are still not understanding it, it doesn’t matter where the company headquarters is located, what matters here is where the produced items is consumed and that where the VAT goes. Where a company locate their headquarters or production factory doesn’t matter. The state that is hosting the company will collect yearly turnover revenue tax from the company not the VAT of items produced by the company in state A and consumed in state B. State B will be credited with the VAT.

The get other states making a play for the headquarters of the Telecomms organisation to attract the VAT.

What are they scared of, competition? Lagos seemingly isn't, why should anyone else.

If you can't work hard as a state government, you should remove yourself and let others that might or can do it. Instead of all this sitting around waiting for central government allocation.
The bone of contention here is that MTN sales recharge card in Kano and pay the VAT to Lagos which is supposed to be paid to Kano where the vat is received. The company in Lagos will only pay their gain tax to FG and Lagos not the VAT.

I have answered this before.

With the Tax Reform bill, the headquarters of every single one of those companies, without exception, is now in play to other states VAR wise.

Their government just needs to give them, and their employees, nice "sweet heart" deals which might include tax breaks.

Those states governments will have to work harder to come up with something better than Lagos state and that includes some long term post-present administration stuff. Infrastructure improvements etc.

But would states prefer the current system of lazily folding thief arms and getting handouts rather than making an effort to take a bite out of Lagos state?
There is no bite out of Lagos here, federal might is used to force all companies to have their headquarters in Lagos. Regional government will force all companies to have their selling point headquarters in various regions and pay tax where their products are consumed.

How can someone recharge a card and calm from kano then vat goed to Lagos? How can oil companies that operate in the creeks send vat of their employees to Lagos?
Are you new to Nigeria or what huh huh ?, that is the reality of Nigeria current tax system , VAT are paid to where the company are registered not where the product is consumed, the reason for agitation for tax reform. Lagos take it all, oil headquarters, Mobile network headquarters, Bank headquarters, only access to seaport and international airport and lot more.
