You need to realize that everything has power in varying amounts. Today, people still die from taking oaths from oracles. So yes, Juju is real. |
BlackPikiN:She worked first among the Efik and Okoyong and then worked in Ibibioland and finally Arochukwu. In fact, there is a Mary Slessor memorial college in Arochukwu dedicated to her. |
Logic Mind:I don't even know where to begin |
Dudu_Negro:I don't know what significance that quotation has. Where are you pulling it from and what is it's context? |
namfav:The same way it's heartbreaking that in this age in Sokoto people's arms are amputated because of petty robbery. It's tradition. Just to add. . . It's been over a hundred years since twin killing was abolished in |

Ify igbaliri, kama otu esi edeya bu Nda aga imere mokwan Nda aga idi. Aro anaghi asi "ele". Isuoro nmadu "Nda aga imere" onyeohu ga ama mgbeonhu mgbeonhu na i bu onye Aro. Ify igbaliri, kama aga aza edeya wu Nda aga imere mokwan Nda aga idi. Isuoro nmadi "Nda aga imere" onyeohu ga ama mgbeonhu mgbeonhu na i wu onye Aro. Lol thanks for the compliment. I too don't understand why people sometime spell it that other ways. Ihe ozo bukwa agam agbali afu na m'nyeregi mkpuru okwu dum mgbara iche na Aro na Izugbe. Ihe odo wukwa m'ga agbali avu na m'nyeregi mkpuru okwu dum mgbara iche na Aro na Izugbe. Lekwa ndi a: Izugbe. Aro. Ukwu (leg). Okpa Gosi (show). Zi Mba (no). Odighi Obere (small). Ntaa/irigiri (used for mire than one) Iru (face/forward) Ivu Asi (Lie). Uha Aso (holy). Nso Nmanya (drink). Nmai Nmanwu (masquerade) ekpo Gini (what). Ngeni Ego (money). Ikpeghe imecha (to finish). Imegba (anything with "cha" in Izugbe turns to "gba" in Aro. Cheta (remember). Rita Nke ori (that). Onhu Ubosi (day). Izu Si (come from). Za Igho (buy). Izu (said the same way you say the "zu" in chalk) As I remember more, I'll update the list. Biko, weretu mkpuru owku a m'nyeregi deturumu "What are you doing?" , "Show me your leg if you want a drink" and "Do you remember that masquerade?". I naha agbali. Uzo adighi kwem, kama ihe iwe na ime ahu gi wu obara anyi. |
Not all Igbo clans practiced twin killing it was mainly the ones in areas bordering Ibibioland. Twins were killed simply because it was seen as an abomination for humans to give multiple births since multiple births were seen as thing only for animals. |
Onlytruth:Eze, owuu ma ikwuru. Ndi anyi vuru ije ogologo na anya. If you consider it Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Lagos, and even Jos are cities in which Igbomen and Igbowomen have made significant contributions towards infrastructure. If some of the energy used to develop places like that was used in Igboland, heh heh, Ihe gara idi egwu ![]() Despite this, cities like Awka, Onitsha, Owerre, Portharcourt, Aba, Abakaliki, Umuahia, Asaba, Nnewi and Agbor are still growing fast in importance and size. You know, if towns like Arochukwu, Mbano, Ohafia, and etc were developed further, greater things could happen. Arochukwu like many other towns in Igboland is very large in population but it just lacks the necessary infrastructural development to actually become a city. Well, ngeni ka anyi ga emekwan? Ka anyi riowa Chukwu ka anya ruo ndi anyi na Ali. |
The wise words of ND Stanley: "Ukwu anyi ba ri anyi nma ma o noruo na uyo" "Ogu su na Zamfara i ga ebu company ala?" "Nwa jecha high institution na Owerre o gbawa keke na pepe" Umu Igbo inyi mepe anya inyi. Inyi emepekwara umu ndi odo obodo wo mgbe ogo nke inyi kawu ovia. Ekwuomu ogwu. |
ifyalways:Ify mchoro ka anyi bido ihe a ugbua. Ofe->Ovo. Ihe ozo wukwa, lekwa ufodi ihe di soso na Asusu Aro: Izugbe. Aro. Ha (they) -> wo Unu (you) -> inyi Oge (time) -> mgbe Kedu (hello/what) -> nda Otu (how) -> aga Ahu (Body/back) -> azi Ala (land) -> Ali Nmadu (human) -> nmadi Ndi (the people of) -> Nde These are the main differences. Now please respond to me in Igbo substituting these main examples. I'll help you with anything else that comes along. Please Write: Odumchi, how are you doing? |

I'll let this speak for itself.

Afam4eva:No, it's not true. Arondizuogu was founded by a famous warrior from Arochukwu called Izuogu Mgbokpo. Also, back then it was nearly impossible for an Aro person to become an osu or a slave since it was widely believed that the oracle Ibin Ukpabi protected all Aro people and anyone who sought to cause harm to an Aro was directly invoking the wrath of Ibin Ukpabi. |
The Edo kingdom predates the Oyo empire so the question should be when did the Edo give birth to the Yoruba (if it should even be asked). Taking a step back, this idea of a single man founding two ethnicities within the span of a few centuries sounds crazy. At most, Oduduwa (if he ever existed) was probably a man who had several sons who went out and founded towns of their own. These sons then became significant figures and the tale of their ancestry spread over the area. Over the centuries, their story could have been twisted and exaggerated into what we have today. |
A somewhat accurate photo of the mineral wealth of the East (Excuse the mistake on Ebonyi's shape). ![]()

My primary concern is that this oil does not bring any conflict or problems to the people of Anambra and Igboland as a whole. Oil has the power to bless and develop but can also destroy it. May the people of Anambra use this resource wisely just like our brothers in Delta, Rivers, and Imo. |
Technically, there are 10 Eastern states (Delta). |

The thing that bothers me most is the destruction of historical artifacts. If you don't want them why not send tem to museums? ![]() Besides, people in certain parts of Nigeria manage Christianity in addition to their traditional customs (to some extent). Christianity does not have to mean the destruction of all "pagan" tradition. Where I come from, our traditional practices are alive and strong despite the fact that most of us are Christians. |
Although he is striving in security and power, he has a lot of work to do structurally. Some of the roads in the northeast of Abia are very bad. |
So now, a child can complete nursery, primary, secondary, and university level educations without paying a kobo? The future is bright for Imo state. ![]() |
