I'm trying to tell you that it's not a sustainable approach, crowdyvest was never a secure platform, I'm referring to licensed banks or asset mgt firms that have insurance to secure deposit. The only reasons people get excited over kolo boxes is because of the thrill of the unknown , nothing more. If that is enough motivation for you to keep on saving, then it's fine.

I don't subscribe to this form of savings those,but I see it works for most people, mostly because it gives them some form of hope seeing the box and the excitement of finding something worthwhile after many months of saving. It's the unknown that makes people do it.

But truly, saving with kolo box is for unwise, undisciplined and uninformed folks, because they are at a loss and anytime I see people open boxes to display ,it makes me sick ,it's really not a thing to be happy about but something one should hide in shame to show;

Here's why;
1) They do not earn you any Interest on the money
2) They have no insurance
3) The box can be stolen, lost or affected by unfortunate events like flood or fire.
4) They risk breaking the box early.
5) They are unable to track how much they have kept at any point.


There's no gain in saving with kolo box.

You hardly see Nigerians teaching coding or talking about programming related stuff on on social media, especially on Youtube. This is because this is actually a legit way to be a successful person and it involves a lot of hard work, determination and consistence.

Nigerians only like to propagate get rich schemes and fraudulent stuff like plagiarizing books to post on Amazon or some rubbish Ponzi scheme. The common thread that links all these is that they don't involve much work and all you have to do is just do the little, then sit and wait for money to start pouring into your account. I admit there are a tiny minority of people who make money from these, but it's usually for a short period of time until it crashes or they get banned from Amazon, or get arrested, but the majority of people don't get shit, rather they jump from one get rich scheme to the other until they realize they've wasted their time.

Programming will never be saturated with competent programmers especially in this country because majority of people don't have the discipline and delligence to actually become competent programmers.

For the past month I've not been on social media. I deleted my Twitter, Facebook Tiktok, Instagram and vowed to never check status on WhatsApp because that's a very huge distraction. I only use Nairaland and Reddit, particularly for programming related information. I deleted every movie from my laptop and haven't watched TV for weeks.

How many people can do this? How many people can sit at a desk staring at a computer screen for 12+ hours everyday?

Nigerians are very lazy and are addicted to quick gratification and this works in the favor of programmers who are serious, because it reduces the competitiveness of the job market.

Instead of changing your circle ,you decided to paint the whole of your fellow country men with the same large brush. I've been coding for a while, and I still have my active social media platform ready, truth is, the problem isn't them but you, and how did I know this, because you were able to change your situation by actually changing yourself ,that is, shutting our social media and focusing.

There are Nigerians teaching coding and doing exceptionally well in that space, the reason you can see them now was because you changed your focus. You can't be searching and following gossip blogs and expect to stumble upon coding training.

So once again, you are the problem.
