I also think it's important that people learn some life savings skills such as swimming and kickboxing. I learned those when I was 14, and it's saved me many times. You don't need be an expert at least just learn how to stay afloat and swim to shore. It can be what saves you frim death.

Back in school, I was the group leader of the practical chemistry course, I carried the group on my shoulders, did all the heavy lifting and tasks.
My room mate also in the group volunteers to help the group submit the project takes every week to the lecturer for scoring , I never knew the dude would swap my file for his before , submitting and would rush to pick all our files after scoring to swap them back .
He had time to copy my work and we always report same results per group,but this guy chose to swap my sheet for his empty file each week, and when we go back home or walk down he talks about how he admires my intelligence, I never knew he was working against me.

2) identify the stimulant, most gamblers have things that trigger them into gambling , most of them are friends, many have joined telegram groups and Whatsapp grp or follow social pages that offer bet picks , these things trigger degenerate gamblers to part money thinking if they don't play they may miss out , if you find those items you can remove them, e.g destroy the sim card, make sure those friends don't visit etc.

3) Play the devil's advocate, most gamblers don't come to their senses until they see how much they've lost and the opportunity cost., I once had an addicted cousin and what I did to make him realize his folly was to join him, for every game he plays , I'd record the amount he used, we did that for 3 months, by end of three months I gave him the net of how much he's won and lost. He couldn't believe he has made that much money and spent it gambling, then by the side I wrote down all what that money could have gotten for him. When he saw the opportunity cost, baba shut down all his betting account and opened a piggy vest account.
