Truth is we still have a long way to go in this country. So let me be clear before I'm attacked. We do not have institutions that work independently and we do not have a populace that understands and know their rights. These inefficiency is why we have system that does not work. At every level of the government you have people who are not competent enough, instead of having a blend of people who are both competent and politically balanced , we rather just place loyal folks in the end the ciu try remains as it is. 1 Like 1 Share |

Uniquekriss: Value and respnsibility/risk is what is priced and rewarded ,the definition of value varies and depends on the company, it takes intelligence to understand where the value lies and align therein. If you work for a shitty organization that requires toxic office politics, it's okay to leave if you can't play the game, look elsewhere where your skills aligns, I always say this, no one is a tree if you don't get what you want it's okay to move elsewhere because employers won't hesitate to let you go if they don't think you're giving them value. |

Psalmistproject: Most is correct, if you interview 100 applicants, 20% or less have a good head on their shoulder, it's the case for almost every recruiter and employer of labour. It's the statistics |

Alexbio: In every work place, and most interviews with reputable companies, you are required to sign an NDA to help protect both the applicant and the employer (prospective included). It takes a smart applicant to not divulge sensitive info about his current employer , I once interviewed someone for a data job and without much questions he already divulged sensitive info about his current employer, we never took him for the job. If you divulge sensitive info and ideas, how do you expect the employer to take someone like that seriously, when they don't know when to not cross the line. A data person that should know about data protection singing like a bird because he wants to land a job. We must understand that once you have upskilled both in skill, experiences and exposure/politics, you won't have the patience to attend interviews of unprofessional companies and you can easily walk out of processes that makes no sense. |

fawaz050: Most jobs require technical and skill based interviews ,it'd because applicants have learned to about their capacity hence the need for competency based testing , yet applicants now think interviewers are stealing their ideas or using them to do their work. Jokers. Is the stress really worth it?, You think they can't get proposals or call for ideas in and pay those people off, or is it the days to one week test that generate ideas that changes a business ?.. if the ideas were so great or you have all it takes. Why don't you they open their open businesses or become consultants |

Psalmistproject: Ask yourself, if I'm an employer why would I waste valuable time interviewing people, don't I have better things to do that to call people just to embarrass them, you need to wake up and take responsibility . You don't know how hard it is to organize interviews |

fxexperts: This is where the "intelligent" applicant comes in, you can submit a proposal and do technical interviews using dummy data and numbers. It's typical practice for companies to present technical question, and tasks to applicants, heck, people write essays and submit business proposals to get funding every other day in search for better opportunities. In my years of building projects for clients my team have what we call "blue idea ocean" ,it's that feeling most people have when they thing their ideas are worth a whole lot ,when they give us project they present us with buggy NDA and many protocols ,meanwhile we just want to set up their softwares ,fix their bugs and move the f** on, we see these ideas shit tonnes of them, and the beauty of it is, every single one of those sucker feel they have the next big thing. Jesus Christ it's almost hilarious... |

Lannister360: I've worked hard for what I get, some have also worked harder and got less and many work very little and get more. These are the inefficiencies of the labour market and rewards do not accrue based on merits, inorder to even the field and improve your chances, you have to upskill and put in the work, but it's also easy to blame the country for everything |

nnamdi640: Every man worth is measured by the value they bring and the risk they bear, some see their value and demand their true worth ,others don't have any value but demand for it, and some have value but don't see it. It is this inefficiency that leads to negotiation between labour provider and employees, when there isn't a good match either the employer or employee feels dissatisfied. One you know your value and risk , you can make demand and if employers see it they'd pay handsomely for it |

Uniquekriss: You've spoken well, there are good and bad employers and there are good and bad applicants and employee. But I'd tell you what I've learned is that no man is a tree planted to remain at one spot ,and I've also learned to measure people's worth by their value/risk and responsibility. The man who brings the most value, bears the most responsibility and risk ,should get the most reward. If you find yourself anywhere that your shot changed you should move ,it's simple as that |

Alexbio: The truth is bitter but whatever makes you sleep well at night, I'd tell you one thing for free, I've never heard of a company that goes through months of recruitment to steal ideas from applicants. You guys are living inside your own head, if the ideas are so great why don't they just sell it, patent or give limited info. You'all should wake the f* up |

Microwhy: Your statistics is very biased and short sighted ,for the number of Nigerians who do well, we have 2x that number coming up either average or below average, you just don't hear of it. There are jobs and opportunities and many applicants for that spot, just like any where else in the world, if you want to land the job you must have to do better. The truth is bitter, but many of you just prefer to play the ostrich and blame the employers but if it makes you sleep better at night then by all means |

Jeezuzpick: A lot of things goes into finding the right candidate and it's just certificate or experience, most applicants don't even know it's a lot of work to organize a successful interview. It takes money and time, and months. Why would a company steal your idea lol, from an applicant? , You guys are really living in your own world and need to come out and say hello to reality 1 Like |

Microwhy: I'm fully self aware of my abilities and capacity, I know my strength and limits, I am accountable for my success and my failures. It's what differentiates the good from the great. If you decide to wallow is self pity and believe it's the employer that is stealing your idea, then by all mean live in self denial , if your ideas are so great why don't you go and implement them. I still wonder how few interviews is enough for a multi national to steal your idea and great plans and not have a fraction to pay for the guy who generates them . |

Lannister360: Another Senior Applicant of Nigeria (SAN) spotted, I'd tell you for free ,people are changing jobs daily and getting higher pay and good work satisfaction, the problem is,many of you don't just want to upskill, but if it makes you feel better about yourself and mediocre life, by all means continue to wallow in it. If you go to a job page or on LinkedIn, you'd see loads of job, many people get interview invite directly to their inbox from head hunters every other day, but it's not just for anybody it's only for the finest and skilled. |

The thing is this, Nigerians and most people will help and offer advice to others as long as those peope remain poor humble and down to earth (it's the reason we vote the way we vote during big brother ) . We despise the arrogant and proud , we prefer timid, poor ,and humble. Now here's the thing, These guys had options, to either excel at the game of power or become the ingrates that people now take them as. In the game of power, appearance is important, these guys had few options to achieve greater height. If I were in their shoes here's how I'd have played my cards; 1)Appear to be very seriously studying , (doesn't matter if I'm not), I'd dress smart on pictures and only share pictures of myself in church or in classes. 2) Continually show appreciations to Nigerians and the OPM for the opportunity and make bold promises to help others when you land a job after studying (even if I don't give a f* about Nigerians ) 3) Stay off politics and showing any support for any political candidate ,tribe or religion . Just be the guy who wishes Nigeria gets better and preaches peace and unity (even if you don't give two sh*t about it) The reason this is important ,is that, with every step you take Nigerians will continue to rally round to support your every step, cos after study, u need a job, u need business or some even connections, you can ride on those waves ,by simply playing on the goodwill of Nigerians who love to be seen as helpers and that's how you get better. But these guys are still young, they desire to trend and at this moment they are still lost in the clouts, soon things will dry up and they can no longer withdraw from the Nigerian bank of good will , I'm pained when I see people waste opportunities others seek out just because they lack the ability to play the game of power or see beyond their nose. 3 Likes |

Most jobseekers aren't good enough for the job, no employer is frustrating them, this way of thinking is what makes applicant find ways to justify their incompetence ,instead of looking for ways to upskill and do better at interviews they find ways to throw the blame at the employers, just to feel good about themselves. Most of them will respond positively to this post as a way to confirm their bias and feel good about themselves. 124 Likes 15 Shares |
