It was a memorable gathering of Royals,VIPs and dignitaries at the 1st Annual New Yam Festival of the "Obi Eziokwu" Palace ruled by Eze Dr. Chika Nwokedi, the Obi of Ijegun/Ijeododo community, Lagos on the 17th September, 2022. There was a rich cultural display in significance to the "Uwaji" celebration with an array of programs ranging from the display of Masquerades, cultural music and dance, presentation of certificate awards and coronation of more chiefs into the Obi Ezioku palace of Ijegun/Ijeododo kingdom.

The Okpoko 1, Eze Chika inexplicably showed that culture is a way of life to be reckoned with as his palace and disposition was seen in the way of promoting culture and tradition to its fullest.

However, Eze Okpoko 1 at the start of the event coronated some more Chiefs into his palace as well as an official crowning of the prince and princess to also commemorate the event of the New Yam Festival. Some of those awarded certifications at the event includes dignitaries and some service Chiefs of the Nigerian Police who have done pretty well in managing the affairs of the people expertly without bias or cultural preferences or prejudices as well as proper management of duties or positions held.

When speaking with the press, Eze. Chika talked about the turnouts of events celebrated this year so far and how grateful he has been especially to people who have steadfastly attended his programs consecutively. He also expressed gratitude for the massive acceptance and regards he received so far from people who appreciates his good effort, satisfied with the fact that he is always set to achieve goals and make impacts as well as bring change into his environment and people.

Nigerians should also learn that as a leader, learn to touch lives not minding what anybody thinks, when you are at the top you will become a topic, I've touched lives in different ways and there are testimonies to that as seen during testimonials at the event ground despite criticism from some fellow Royals, he said.

Lolo Pst.Tessy Chika Nwokedi, the eloquent queen of the Obi Eziokwu palace also had a chat with journalist on why people should embrace culture as a way of life and as it is, the aim and objectives of the palace is to stand for the truth at all times which includes doing what is right, some of which is seen during the New Yam festival event.

[quote author=OJEEMAH post=116052729] The gibberish you dropped is not my concern neither is Owen’s opinion is a worry for me. As a matter of fact, I don’t give a fuc.

My problem is how you guys react whenever we apply the same yardstick or standard you guys have been using to judge others on Ronaldo.

Hatred? No difference between you and Nigeria politicians because when most of them are caught doing what they accused their predecessor(s) of, they begin accused the opposing party of hatred.

Because goals guarantees victory, only the goal scorer should be applauded?? Because that what you guys have limited football to….. that’s why most people do not appreciate Benzema until he started scoring. Zidane didn’t score many goals but he’s well appreciated for his creativity and general game play.

Wetin concern me if you accept Messi as the greatest or not? Oga, go sleep you no get talk aswear.

I didn’t downgrade Ronaldo to them. We talking about the premier league and statistically, they have a case. Had to use their premier league goals cos you guys are known for using Ronaldo’s superior goals to rank him with the best. Why can’t we do same in this case? Does he have to make it about goals? We see and judge through your lenses….. Ronaldo fans have limited everything to goals but because it doesn’t Favour him in this case, you are trying to be half smart. it’s not even possible to draw a list of EPL greats without Henry. As a matter of fact, he is regarded as the best ever in EPL history by many but Ronaldo’s inclusion in Owen’s list can be disputed because some players in his position can claim to have better stats like Salah & Aguero.

Ronaldo fans are known hypocrites and it’s not bad to use same approach you guys would have used if reverse was the case.

We talking about the premier League, they are celebrating 30 years of its existence .. ex and current players, journalists and a host of others are being asked about their favourite moments, players, teams , etc the headline says , Owen picks CR7, Henry and others for his premier League greatest team, he has used different statistics and reasons for having CR7 and other players, on his team, that's his opinion, but you being among haters of CR7 , decided to make a case for Aguero and Drogba.. all because ? We both know that deep you in your heart, you are not happy CR7 was there.. the team is made up of 11 players; you didn't make a case for Pete Cech, or Ryan Giggs, or they don't deserve to be among ? Through my lenses ? Every football fan, comes to watch every match hoping for their team to win, and what guarantees victory ? Goals.. because it's the most fundamental.. What is your aim? How to shove it down our throat, to accept Messi as the greatest, and I have told you it will not happen, cos the argument will be endless. If CR7 fans hold on to goals, they have every right to do so, you know why? It's the bane of the game called football. Or should we talk about how quick y'all are always the first to talk about assist and act like CR7 has got just 7 assists since he started playing football... Ohw I forgot , there's a new one reigning by you guys "pre assist". ... CR7's inclusion disputed ? By who ? It would only be by haters like yourself.. The other time, Lampard switched sides, and y'all were angry and ranting on here , it's the same thing y'all doing here, angry over another man's choice ! Keep hating nigga !

After using goals to call him the greatest, you feel bad that Drogba and Aguero matches or probably have better stats in premier league.

Hypocrite!

Hypocrite ? Did I mention goals ? What you fail to understand is that these players you try to downgrade CR7 to, are not even in the conversations of the GOAT debate in the first place, so what does that tell you ? Secondly Owen putting CR7 there, did he tell you it was only about goals ? CR7 played complete football.. Asin complete football, in his first stint at United,. So you coming here to rubbish his opinion and choices obviously shows you are just hating and nothing else.. I am not an Arsenal fan , but if I see a list that doesn't include Henry amongst EPL greats, then not just me , but almost everyone who's been watching the premier League will definitely know it is a biased list. So nigga, free your mind of hate and stop yaning Hypocrite like it's one of the recent word you just learnt .

Politics / Re: I Am Not Voting Obi Again If Wike Is Vice President by Ofunwa111: 10:39am On Jun 09, 2022
FreedomDynamics:
Yes! My first calculation was to vote Obi even though I know he is not going to win as a form of protest and also washing my hands off Naija politics matter and have my conscience clear that l was not responsible for bringing in a rogue into Aso Rock.

On the emergence of Tinubu as APCs flag bearer and the antecedence of the APC, I realize a critical situation is reached and a crucial and objective decision needs to be made. We have a situation where Obi will weaken the PDP and still not win. He will not win because he is only popular amongst educated and upward thinking people who are not a quarter of the rest of the masses up north and even the south in population and a vote for Obi is only a 'statement vote'. It's important in the scheme of things but then catastrophic for the Opportunity Cost of having an APC president who fields an El Rufai for instance. This is the crux of the matter, its Tinubu or Atiku and Obi will make one win directly or indirectly.

My grouse with Atiku is not himself per se because I feel he had been labeled a thief and perceived negatively for a long time which had been his bane in becoming the president and I feel he will like to prove a lot of people wrong. It's the thieves that will follow him to Aso Rock. I feel an iron hand is needed at Aso Rock. Someone who can fire a minister on the spot, order a proper procurement process and such. No soft hand can handle Nigeria and Nigerians only someone who is stubborn and resolute!

That's where Wike comes in. Wike's strength is fearlessness, project execution, tenacity and even integrity, yes, integrity. If you studied the extent of what the Salafists, Fulani bandits, Buhari and his cabal and so on have gone into the marrow of the country, a Wike is the best man for the job. There is something about body language and persona. With his no-nonsense carriage, you want to ask who will send shivers down the spine of these guys and even the Service Chiefs, Wike or Obi? Wike had demonstrated he can take up a General if found wanting.

This is beyond sentiment and emotions. You only need Obi where the system works. With the collapsed systems and institutions we have in Nigeria coupled with gross corruption and indiscipline, I do not want to believe you want to send in someone with a soft voice holding carrots. Obasanjo even recommended a mad man. Sitting down, Obasanjo saw what our Twitter friends couldn't see from a tree top, and to hell with Wike's sins for I cannot find the perfect politician even in Obi. Obi's perfection is even his bane so long as it is Nigeria he is given as homework.

If you have a logical view, feel free to state yours based on my analysis of the matter before us all. I am not responding to emotional, tribal or religious outbursts, only logic. So be guided please. Our Elders, over to you.

Sincerely, FreedomDynamics

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Cannot Win The Presidential Elections No Matter What Party He Is In by Ofunwa111: 8:23pm On May 31, 2022
gidgiddy:
I have always said that Peter Obi is eminently qualified to be President Of Nigeria, he did well when he was Governor of my State, Anambra

However, sentiments aside, Peter has no chance of winning the Presidential elections, no matter what party gives him ticket. The way Nigeria currently is, no Igbo man can become President without zoning

For Peter Obi, or anyone for that matter, to become President, they must win big in the North. As popular as Peter Obi is, his popularity is mainly in the South. The North dont know Peter Obi and they dont want to know. Peter Obi being Igbo and a Christian has already ruled him out with many Northerners

The only way an Igbo man can ever be President is if all political parties are made to zone their tickets to a particular geopolitical zone each time elections come up

Had political parties been made to zone their Presidential tickets to the South East, Peter Obi would have had the PDP ticket. Only then would Nigeria been forced look at the best Igbo man for the job

But as things stand now, tribe and religion will take centre stage in the coming elections

Shut the Bleep up and face your own candidate..

Lionel Messi has been ranked as the third best player in Europe this season in a controversial set of ratings.

Messi has struggled to produce his best form in his first season in French football since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona last summer.

The 34-year-old has scored just four goals in Ligue 1 but has managed to provide 13 assists for PSG, who were crowned French champions last weekend following a 1-1 draw with Lens.

Despite his difficulties this season, Messi has been ranked as the third best performer in European football's top five leagues, according to stats website whoscored.com.

The rankings are based on the average match ratings for players in the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and the Bundesliga.

The ratings take into account statistics from league matches such as goals, assists, clean sheets, pass success percentage and man of the match performances.

Surprisingly, Messi comes third on the list with an average match rating of 7.71 out of 10

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski tops the rankings with an average match rating of 7.93, closely followed by Messi's PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe with 7.91.

Lewandowski has scored 33 goals in 31 league games this season, while Mbappe has managed 22 goals in 31 league games for PSG.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, the current favourite to win the Ballon d'Or this year, is joint-fourth on the list with an average rating of 7.68.
He scored twice against Manchester City on Tuesday night to take his goals tally for the season to 41, with 25 of those coming in league games.

Benzema shares fourth place with Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, the highest-ranked Premier League player on the list.

Salah also has an average rating of 7.68 after scoring 22 goals in his 31 Premier League games this season.

Here’s how the top 10 looks:

1. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) 7.93

2. Kylian Mbappe (PSG) 7.91

3. Lionel Messi (PSG) 7.71

4. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) 7.68

5. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 7.68

6. Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) 7.63

7. Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig) 7.62

8. Ousmane Demeble (Barcelona) 7.60

9. Neymar (PSG) 7.59

10. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) 7.56.

[quote author=solbase10 post=112283087]Former Manchester City and Manchester United striker, Andy Cole has praised the job Pep Guardiola has done at the Cityzens, but is adamant that the Spaniard must win a European cup with City to be seen as a true great.

Andy Cole is probably best known for winning the Treble with Manchester United in 1999, but he also put in a season in the blue half of Manchester, and acknowledges that despite their success in the last decade, the biggest trophy of them all is yet to see the inside of City’s trophy-cabinet.

Manchester City host Real Madrid tonight at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg of their 2021/22 Champions League semi-final fixture, and Cole amplifies the huge expectation on Guardiola.

“The Champions League has eluded Manchester City over the last few years,” Cole told bookmakers.co.uk.

“They have a tough game in this year’s semi-final with Real Madrid. Could it be the season they finally do it? It could well be.
“When you try to win the European Cup, you need a little bit of luck to go your way.”

Cole worked under arguably the greatest manager in history in Sir Alex Ferguson, and believes that Guardiola needs a Champions League win with City to even be considered in the same category.

“Yes, I would believe that Pep Guardiola has to win the Champions League to achieve that status,” Cole said when asked if the City boss needed another victory in the competition to be thought of as a great.

“Pep Guardiola is such a brilliant manager with what he has achieved in the game and by all accounts, he’s a fantastic manager to work for.

Cole went on to reiterate his belief that teams win Champions League trophies, not individuals, and points to Real Madrid’s success this season as proof that the sum is often greater than the parts.

“It’s not a case of man for man when you look at the squads,” the 1999 Champions League winner explained.

“It’s how they perform as a team out on the pitch. Especially, with what Real Madrid have done this season.

“I don’t believe anyone expected Madrid to get to the semis, but they pulled it out. All these clubs want the same thing. It should be a really good tie though.”

Lol you can lie oh where did you see this when did they band slaves trade? When was the word Igbo was recognized? Let me tell you the truth your Igbo was recognized by the world in ending of 18th 19th century. The only one recognized before then was Ebo and this tribe was a dependent tribe to Benin kingdom. A Benin king was more like their president then said by olaudah equiano. Anything leaving or coming to Ebo then was classified as leaving bight of Benin or let me just say Benin kingdom.

Oba of Benin was more like the president of Ebo then and the only documented slaves taken out of Igbo was from Ebo then so this mean Ebo was the name called Igbo before and this igbo was under Benin kingdom.

If you disagree this mean Ebo was not igbo and no igbo was taken to the western world as slave
Aunitcha is not igbo
Asaba is not Igbo
Agbor is not igbo

Because all this place king also supported what olaudah equiano In 17th century
