Everyday you keep writing Zik...

PS: Why do you people keep on bringing up Zik's autobiography written in the 1970s, but when I bring up a historical essay that the same Zik wrote earlier in the 1930s which appears to contradict what he wrote in the '70s, you people keep mute or ignore. I have said it time and time again that, CR7 impact is not and can never be in doubt. This is a Premier League Award and it should be given based on PL performances. You can't give a Premier League Award based on UCL performances. I am not in anyway comparing CR7 & Henry. Generally, Ronaldo is a better player and everybody knows that....but my argument is simple that Henry had more impact in the Premier League. I mean just the "Premier League" that's why I attached the screenshot from Skysports.

Henry won 2 Premier leagues, CR7 won 3... so ?

You still choose to act like you do not understand CR7's impact, so I will leave you to your opinion which is not a fact! Henry might have played many seasons and had more goals, but 3 seasons of CR7 was better, highly impactful, more important and most recognized worldwide.

The football CR7 played at Manchester United, EPL has never experienced such individual performance by a player. CR7 dominated the league which reflected in world football ( EPL, UCL), Henry never did! It's the main reason CR7 was chosen.

All these outbursts and vituperation because the Oguta people of Imo state in the heartland of Igbo claimed that they migrated from Benin?

Does the fact that they are now Igbo change their genetic make up? All these people claiming Benin carry Benin DNA in their blood irrespective of how they are identified presently.

Judging from your reaction, it shows that you are pained that Benin DNA are all over the place in Igbo land.

How can Benin be classified as minorities but yet ubiquitous.

If Oguta, Ihiala, Obosi, Onitsha, Ogba, Egede, Ikwerre etc. Claims that they were all Benin migrants, does the Oba of Benin need to have had direct political influence over these towns for them to have Benin influence?

Benin people already populated these towns, so no need for the Oba of Benin to disturb them, no need to take war to his people.

Stop looking for evidence of Benin war machine in Igbo land as evidence of Benin political and cultural influence in Igbo land.

The Western fringes of Igbo land is Anioma or Delta North, Oguta in Imo state is in the heartland of Igbo.

You must think very highly of yourself to say you are teaching me to learn your skewed revisionist history.

As usual, Tao11 be dishing out facts to prove their Oba dynasty is from Ife, but these boys won't agree or bring proofs to dispute it, but want others to believe their stories when they have no fact.

These Bini boys just come online to display inferiority complex at it's peak while deceiving themselves thinking they are great. In summary,

Gregboy- Bini boy, who doesn't want any attachment with any tribe even Igbanke. (At least he knows they are Igbos). For him, he's only concerned with the the Edo nations and that includes the Edoids in other states, but he is finding it hard to believe the Oba Dynasty is of Ife, even when he has seen facts. lol. It makes him weep and give him sleepless nights. Oboy, as long as you are not royalty, do not cry, you are still Bini.

AreaFada and Samuk - Bini boys who want to claim every tribe, even ready to call Fulani and Jukun people Benins. lol.. The real inferior ones.

Etrusen - Feeling Nostalgia about their past and would want every tribe to worship them, or at least claim Benin origin. He denies Ogiemen was king, but his brother Igbinazaka Ogiesuyi is on Facebook telling the world pure truth, because he brings fact.

Valirex & Nazee - Bini boys who do not even know right from left.

Culture / Re: How Igbo Couples Curse Their Marriage Ignorantly by Ofunwa111: 11:54am On Nov 18, 2020
MaziSpartan:
If my little understanding of Igbo culture serves me right, then, it amounts to grave self injury for a young Igbo man to pour away the palm wine given to him by his bride, during their traditional wedding.

Apart from the fact that such act stems from a place of ignorance and self degradation, pouring away the palm wine when it's presented to you by your wife signals rejection. It means that you have rejected the woman who gave you the drink. It means that you have rejected the marriage.

Let me not sound overly superstitious by delving into the implications of this act on the marriage. Let me just keep it at the fore, where everyone can understand the issue on the peripheral level.

Nobody is forcing you to do a traditional wedding. Nobody at all. You can do a Court wedding. You can do the white mans traditional wedding where you wear white wedding gown and suit in the church. You can do all these without doing your own traditional wedding. Nobody will talk or say anything. But the moment you opt to do the Igbo traditional wedding, it is expected of you to do it right by following the basic traditional laid down rules.

Don't use your hand to bring curse to your marriage out of ignorance.

If somebody wants to poison you on your wedding day, they can do so via many means. Through the garden eggs you'll eat. Through the bottled water you'll drink. Through the food. Through other means too.

The idea that a groom can be poisoned only through the palm wine his wife gives to him, is not steeped in reality or fact, but..

https://www.ojamedia.com/2020/11/how-igbo-couples-curse-their-marriage.html

You can't poison water spiritually! As for the groom, drinking or pouring the palm wine given to him by his bride is his business.

Your submission is very skewed and biased, you already concludes that certain tribes are Igbo before calling for DNA evidence.

Supposing a DNA analysis shows that all the people of southern and middle belt Nigeria are related, what name would you call them, would you then agree to be called Benin due to this blood relationship, because the name Benin is older than Igbo or should the Edo, Yoruba, Igala, Idoma etc, people that share this common blood
relationship now be called Igbo.

If you wouldn't agree to being called Benin, Igala or Idoma (all older names than Igbo), why then would you want Ikwerre or any other independent tribe outside the south east to accept the Igbo tag even if DNA shows blood relationship between these tribes and those that now call themselves Igbo.

Artificial names such as Igbo and Yoruba have to be agreed to by every one that want to be identified as such. Anioma is a collection of formerly different tribes that made up Delta North, all these tribes don't have issues being called Anioma today even though they have different heritages, Same way the old Bendelites were proud of the name Bendel. The name Igbo should be confined to south east rather than forcing tribes outside the south east to adopt it.

The name Igbo seems to be problem for those outside the south east to identify with, other tribes are not keen to associate with the people that currently goes by the social political name Igbo. The question should be why?

The Igbo can drop Igbo and adopt the name Ikwerre instead of Igbo for all the tribes in the south east, I am sure the Ikwerre people wouldn't mind. If can adopt Ikwerre why would you want Ikwerre to adopt Igbo identity.

One can see inferiority and fear every time you write. This is what Igbo has done to you. cheesy cheesy grin tongue

There's the Eze family in Benin with various branches. They goes by the morning greetings Lavi-Eze. All established Benin families have morning greetings that identify them and also have chiefs that represents them in the Palace. Why single out two names from the list I gave you.

The people that left Benin took with them names and cultures you guys are now claiming, including the names of your market days and titles of some of Obi of Onitsha chiefs, including the Obi's title himself, Agboghidi, his sceptre are all Benin in origin.

Some have argued that Chime was actually Ikhimwin which the Igbos they met in their new land pronounced Chime. The Igbonization of Benin names and words are not peculiar to the eastern expansion of the old Benin empire, most Benin original names and settlements in Lagos were also Yorubanized.

Benin was like Roman empire. It was never an ethnicity. It was a nationality.
Bini was just one of the many ethnic groups in Benin and on whose land the capital city was built.
For example, Apostle Paul was a Roman citizen, but he was Jewish by ethnicity.

The distinction line between Benin as a nationality made up Bini, Ijaw, Igbo, Yoruba components, and Bini as just a small ethnic group on his land Benin was built on, has been blurred by you Bini revisionists in your land grab and have subsequently made migration stories of Igbo, Yoruba , Ijaw, etc speaking groups in Igbo land (Enuani), Yorubaland(Owo, Oba Lagos), Ijaw(Nembe) appear irrational when it is actually rational once one separate Benin from Bini and establish the existence of Igboid, Ijawoid and Yoruboid people as integral components of Benin empire.

And that it is from these components that reverse migration back to their aboriginal lands happened on a latter date when Benin was no longer safe for them.

No, Nri that had no cloth on until Aro middlemen introduce Akwaocha to you. Where in Nri was Akwaocha woven? Ndokki were the first to weave Akwaete cloths which the Aro middlemen carried to as far as Nsukka. Pictures of Nri naked chiefs are scattered in the internet. Where did you see Aro naked people?

Aro may have sold slaves but her impact in Igboland far out weight Nri! Sorry, but Nri are just local champions with no relevance. Aro stood as men and transversed all part of Igboland down to Cameroon. Had dynasty in Kalabari, Okrika, Calabar, Ikwerre etc and brought a lot of economic and cultural Influence on Iboland.

Achebe in his things fall apart talk a lot about Abam. Even when Okonkwo was banished to his maternal home in Mbanta, we saw a lot of cultural influence that you guys are trying to downplay or dash to Nri. Aro may be young but they at least met an existing Ibo culture which they advanced. But Nri another clan with suspicious origin want to tell us how they created the Ibo culture. Something the Aro okigbo hardly do. Imagine the conconbility. Make una carry chair go siddon one place.

We saw the Osu and Diala caste, we saw the reference to Ani, earth goddess, Ifejioku, to Chukwu, and to Amadioha. We saw the sacred phython, the New Yam festival, the wrestling, the headhunting wars, the nso ani, and a lot of cultures that had no bearing to Nri.

Idemili people had their culture spelt by Achebe. Owerri saw theirs through the Mbari homes, Awka saw their through Agbala shrine. Yet, Achebe didn't reveal the over hyped Nri. The much announced Ichi facial mark was not even mentioned. Nze na Ozo that you want to dash Nri was a general Ibo culture and never Nri! Who dash Nri Nze na Ozo? Who dash Nri Ofo na Ogu? Who dash Nri four market days? Stop claiming general Ibo cultures as yours. You can stick to your Afa or anything your brothers in Aguleri practice but stop claiming ownership of Ibo culture. How can you claim Father to Ndibo when you're just a child.

Rewind back to Okonkwo's home town in Umuofia. We could see the famous Agbala shrine of the Awka people. We saw Ogbanje, we saw Chief priest and Chielo the Priestess. There was nothing Nri in Okonkwo's things fall apart. And all these were written even before the fake Nri tales began flaring up. All of which began after the civil war. Partly by Onwejeogwu and Isichei etc. I would rather believe Achebe's well research novel than the trash written by Delta Ibo historians.

What did I just read ? "Aro brought Akwa Ocha" "Aro brought Akwa" to where ? Odiegwu.... Bia Nwokem, ask yourself certain questions before you write and put things on here, better still if you do not know, do well to ask people who know.

As regards the origin and cultural practices, there's no need to discuss or argue further, because you have still shown ignorance in what you have written.

Nwanne, neither am I comparing. I just find it amusing when I read certain stuffs that common sense and verifiable evidence show it's a pure lie. As regards your question, I believe the noble men of Nri ancestory already had a culture to die for and would not give into whatever the Aro were bringing, Hence the annihilation in the Nri/Awka areas, which was enough for them to retreat.
