Yes you like Messi, but to say he is ahead shows you are just being sentimental and not factual.

Why won't CR7 be there ? 29 goals, 2 cups , if he goes ahead to win the Euro why won't you give him ?

What stops Lukaku or De Bryune from winning it if Belgium wins the Euro ?

What stops Mbappe from winning it if he wins the Euro ?

Who will win it?

Mature, objective and posts devoid of sentiments are welcome. Kindly refrain from disrespectful posts!

1) Mbappe: 26 goals, three assists. Won Trophee des Champions.

2) Kelvin De Bruyne:
In 2021: Eight goals, seven assists. Won Premier League & Carabao Cup.

3) Lewandoski: In 2021: 30 goals, four assists. Won Bundesliga & Club World Cup.

4) Ruben Diaz: In 2021: One goal, 17 clean sheets. Won Premier League & Carabao Cup.

5) Messi: In 2021: 28 goals, nine assists. Won Copa del Rey.

There are others who can contend for this title. Kindly add yours or choose one and tell the world why this person should win it.

My Opinion: I am a very strong Messi supporter. I hope he wins it but to be objective, I would give it to De bruyne ahead of Mbappe who is a strong favourite. Sometimes in football, the attackers are usually favourite ahead of defenders hence the choice of a defender in the list. The goals would change from those figures but let's model using the figures

Kindly lend your voice without insult and bias.
Thanks

Mod, help push this to FP. Let's see people's opinion.

It is not just 2021, it is 2020/2021 season. All candidates mentioned there are worthy but you omitted 2 players; Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku.

The Euros and Copa America will be very instrumental for the eventual winner.

Osita Osadebe was more valuable to an average Igbo man than Nnamdi Azikiwe...May he continue to rest in peace.

Moreover , Nnamdi Azikiwe is not an Igbo man, let's stop hiding the truth. Nnamdi Azikiwe is an Ijaw man...pure Ijaw blood..

The history is there. I think the Op understands that fact, the reason he addressed Osadebe as an Igbo man and Nnamdi Azikiwe as a Nigerian statesman.

Yeah, There is a Difference..

The South East Igbos are the Traditional Igbos..D ones we know are Business-minded n scatter in Nigerian towns n cities..They come from Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia and Anambra..

But some are close to Benue(Idoma areas) and Cross River..Diz ones are still Igbos!!

But Ikas in Delta have a language n culture of their own, same as d Ndokwas,, dats y dey don't want to be cald 'Delta Igbo' or Igbo..

However, in d same Delta State, D Aniocha/Oshimili group sometimes identify demselves as Igbos because dier areas are closer to Onitsha, Anambra state n dier language is almost d same as d Main Igbo!!..(Funny enough, some don't e.g JayJay Okocha n Okonjo-Iweala)..

The area Where Nzeogwu who killed Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, etc came from is Okpanam n is in Asaba axis..Pple then said an Igboman killed Hausa politicians..

So, you see dat it's Quite Confusing n Complicated!!

In real time, I also thought the whole of the ball had crossed line. However, on replays the outer right circumference of the ball appeared perpendicular to the goal line, meaning the whole of the ball had not crossed the line. So the referee was actually right.

Pele o. I didn't know you were this pained. How do you blame the best player on the pitch vs PSG irrespective of the penalty loss? You think the football world don't understand the value of exceptional input like you deluded CR7 fans. You think it's just by lazing around to score tap-ins? You want to compare the best player vs PSG against one of the worst players vs 10-man average Porto? Why do you think reputable sport journalists in sites like Goal.com reports it like "Messi bows out with a bolt from the blue". That's admiration and not condemnation. You think they don't know what they are saying or they didn't see him lose the penalty?

You lot don't understand the concept of brilliant inputs and efforts in football and that's why the sports world don't take you guys serious in the grand scheme of things. The official football ecosystem know their GOAT and while they've dithered around the choice of whether it's Messi, Maradona or Pele, your CR can never be part of that elite conversation. Get this, CR will always be beneath Messi's feet in the GOAT conversation and there's nothing you instagram fans can do about it. Take your L and move on sir.

And oh, I make money, good money in fact, but doesn't stop me from having time to discuss football issues or more cerebral topics. Now can you see how dumb that your last comment appears?

He says I am pained, pained about what exactly? In the long rubbish you wrote, I was expecting you to debunk what I wrote up there, but the blind hater bat that you are didn't let you see it.

He uses goal.com as an example, lol. If you have been a follower of the game, you do not need anyone in the world to tell you it is an anti-CR7 and pro Messi site. The only people who take them serious are Barcelona fans and haters of CR7. They single out Messi, like Pedri didn't have a good game. Even Pique said he is proud of how his team played.

Yes, for goal.com, they will close their eyes to the penalty miss, because he is their favorite, but real football fans know how decisive penalties can be and that's why it is part of the game. I want to believe you are a Barcelona fan, now imagine if that penalty had gone in and the impact it would have made in the second half?

You are talking GOAT status, someone who is not regarded as the best ever in his country is who you are calling the GOAT ? lmao. When you clearly are the best, there will be no debate. Just so you know, in the world of football there is opinion, fact, right and wrong, with this you should already know where y'all fall into.

When I said go make money, it doesn't mean you are poor or not making money, I am saying this particular debate will have you waste time and stop you from making more money. Too much money ain't enough money!

Bye kid, this is my last response to you.

You wan kill them be that na. I have a feeling all these average teams have just been saving Juve from huge embarassment if they had progressed to meet any of those big boys.

CR7 is out, Messi is out, but you haters just look for reasons to blame CR7 and exonerate Messi. First they say Messi scored a golazo and played well.... lol, The goal CR7 scored against Lyon last year was what ? You compare the teams that sent them out but you forget that your so called best player had a bigger lead twice, but still didn't show up when he was needed. The Remontada they had years back, we both know Neymar was the star man that day. Now you come again and say Tapnaldo or Penaldo, but when they needed Messi to score the penalty kick, he fumbled as usual and instead of blaming him, y'all blame Dembele; sick people. It is a football game, you win some you lose some. Guy, enjoy your player, leave us to enjoy ours. One argument you know that can last, is the CR7 vs Messi debate, do not waste your time on it, go Bleep or make money.

samuk:

I haven't read any book written by the Obi of Onitsha contradicting Zik's and Obi of issele-uku's position on the Benin origin of Ezechima. I rather go with the history as told by the illustrious descendants of Ezechima. The earliest eyewitness historical accounts of Asaba written in 1875 said the Asaba people migrated from Benin and were later amalgamated with the Igbos. If you have any earlier eyewitness historical account of Asaba that says something else, you can share it for all to read.

If Asaba was a Benin town as late as 1875, there is no way Ezechima and his people who crossed into Onitsha in the 1700s, 100 years earlier according to Zik would have spoken Igbo or a variant of the language that latter became known as Igbo, because there is no evidence that the word Igbo existed in the 1700s.

PS: Why do you people keep on bringing up Zik's autobiography written in the 1970s, but when I bring up a historical essay that the same Zik wrote earlier in the 1930s which appears to contradict what he wrote in the '70s, you people keep mute or ignore. I thought you were a great proponent of the theory that earlier documents are always more authentic than later ones?

Ezechima migrated from the anioma part of delta state with the knowledge of an already benin established royalty from his clan in anioma areas of Delta state were he migrated from, when he settled at onitsha he simply replicated the royal stool back home to his new found town

That's why his name is igbo, instead of edo, Ezechima definitely had edo and igbo blood in him

With regards to the hypothesis in the attached screenshot above, please find below the detailed responses below:

(1) Four years after the hypothesis in the above attachment has been put forward by A. F. C. Ryder; he himself is reported in a joint publication by Professors Elizabeth Allo Isichei & Peter Uche Isichei to have abandoned his own hypothesis.

These professors of African history note in their joint work, “A History of Nigeria”, as follows:

It is noteworthy that Ryder, who questioned the Ife connection and argued the case for the linkages with a northern kingdom, abandoned the line of argument in his later book, Benin and the Europeans.

(2) Furthermore to this, even if Ryder had failed to retrace his steps, his hypothesis (which has yielded no result till date) has been devastatingly debunked by many subsequent research — one of which is by Robin Horton which I have particularly expounded on at the link below.
