The proposed HYDRO STATION was to be 12 units at 100 Mw. per unit which was to be 1200 Mw., when completed, but the construction was supposed to still be ongoing after Independent but not much attention was given by the then Independent government in power to the extent that in the Yakubu Gowon Military administration 1969 says he was doing his clompleted KAINJI HYDRO Station commissioning with just 4 Units @ 80 Mw per unit totaling 320 Mw instead 1200Mw. Remember Gowon statement " MONEY IS NOT OUR PROBLEM BUT HOW TO SPEND IT"
Unfortunate by 1975 one of the 4 units has collapsed bringing the HYDRO STATION back to 240 Mw. See Kainji Hydro report.
