And He doesn't reward greedy giving too, just as Tobechi said.
Many times, Christians give without grumbling but with wanton desire similar to the get rich quick.

I kinds of giving attracts a reward. But the one given cheerfully attracts the most reward. And that is the point God wants us to get to. If you gi e only when you're happy, then why are you different from the unbelievers who do the same. Christians should cultivate the habit of giving mo matter the condition, situation or mood we fi d our self. The approach or the method used by the receiver to ask, should not always be brought into consideration at all times, but that God requires us to give.

Goshen360:

When I say the God I know, doesn't mean I have seen or met God one on one. You should understand it to mean THROUGH HIS WORD. Again, the God I know doesn't force or coerce his children into giving. Even Adam was left to his will. God will ONLY lay it plain and make you see reasons for sacrifice and the rest of it.

Now, we're talking about giving; perhaps sacrificial giving. How do you make a giving sacrificial when you force it out of people? That's against the scriptural context of sacrificial giving. That's taking advantage of God's people in the office of a prophet or Apostle, whatever their title is. We do not have such practice among the church of God in the early Christians. You people should begin to stand against all these false practices in the church of God and say the irrespective on whose toes we step on.

What would u say of Abraham, or the abrahamic faith as it is called. Would u say Abraham gave Isaac willingly, cheerfully and happy. Or would you say he just obeyed God ?

Secondly, for a growing Christian who does not have the ability to test spirits, would you say the should never give in churches because they don't know of which spirit the servant of God is ministering?

Sorry to say this, you acted foolishly if you joined to empty yourself. No insult meant please BUT God I know doesn't blessed coerced giving, only cheerful giving. You have options then, walk out of the service, NEVER TO RETURN TO THAT CHURCH. 2, hold or control yourself & lastly, pretend to give testimony and when you have the microphone, tell them what they are doing is wrong according to scripture.

Don't say the God you know, like uve met God one on one.

The average human been is greedy and empty, Thi king he knows all but actually knows nothing. He needs to be taught. We all came into this world empty and we learnt everything we know. Either by force, coercion or by any other means. Allow others to grow as u have grown.

Using invited preachers to do their dirty work of extorting the congregation is a common tactic used by manipulative preachers since the host pastor doesn't want to appear to be the one exploiting his own congregation and there is denialbility when the so called prophecies fail to happen. It's all an elaborate organised scam.

@james, you acted wisely. I believe as lead by d spirit of God.

Though, the Holy Book says obedience is better than sacrifice, it did not claerly rule out the power of sacrifice or the power in obeying to sacrifice you did well by obeying the spirit and the servant of God.

bookface:

You have absolutely no idea of the US military capacity.

China may have billions of soldiers, but unless they can figure a way to ship all those soldiers across the Atlantic Ocean (China has only 1 or 2 carriers by the way), they are all typical sitting ducks for the raptors and the B2 spirits.

The US does not only rely on its military might, it's got strong allies and partners who can do several things e.g block major shipping routes - a move that could make China bankrupt in less than a year. Not only does China's economy rely mostly on export to Europe and the US, it's huge population and economy require energy sources most of which passes through routes that are commanded by US allies or NATO nations.

Thank u bro,
I laugh when ever I hear about china's military strength, is that all they have? the whole of china's economy is controlled by the west. Because they (west) are the market on which china survives. US will frustrate the hell out of them, what d hell do they have self, if they don't caution NK before it's too late, they might end up funding the war indirectly for the US and still be supporting north Korea on the Inside thereby loosing on both ends.

Politics / Re: 10 Facts About Boko Haram by oiseworld: 7:49pm On Mar 14, 2013
Find Out!:
On point.

Those of us here in the south or abroad can sit down, read newspapers and type epistles on nairaland largely spewing the half truths & propaganda we have read & its easy to almost call for the total anihilation of the region since many of us are still under the delusion that the north is solely responsible for the country's problems (forgetting that most of the roads and monuments we see around today -which we the 'southerners' are STRUGGLING to maintain- were built while these 'abokis' were in power).

We forget that there are human beings like us resident in that north.

Talk to those in the North. Then you will understand why boko haram is a national problem which is continuously being mishandled.

I spoke recently with a southerner who is based in the north (a peaceful area tho, apparently) & he told me things . The part about wanton executions of innocent men, women & children by the millitary is VERY true according to him & they still go on till date & that is why the violence keeps increasing. A lot of these things are apparently kept quiet.

These boko guys target anything. They are not concerned with your religion. Their motive is to spread destruction & render that place totally useless. Both muslims & xtians are living under seige from these guys, especially the muslims who also have to contend with the harrassment & sometimes summary execution by the security forces. Lots of innocent people are still locked up in prisons for no reason at all! The people cant move freely, no factories, few businesses, poverty everywhere.

Let us reason: how can someone tell you that he's killing people because he wants them to accept islam?? By the time he kills all the xtians, shey na dead body go accept islam??

I too support millitary action against these guys, but the millitary action must be precise & right on target or else as we've been seeing, the problem will keep getting bigger. You don't kill ordinary civillians on the road & come out to say you killed boko haram members. The boko guys will come and show you that you didn't kill them! You don't imprison innocent people and expect these same innocent people to risk their lives (boko boys will be after them) & come to tell you where the boko guys are. You do not say you are fighting for me & still be fighting against me.

As rightly pointed out, boko haram will have lots of splinter groups that even the leader may have no control over. Eventually, some wil want to dialogue while some will still feel they are doing Allah a favour (which they are not or else xtians, budhists, jews e.t.c will have long since been wiped out).

Allah himself has said in the Qur'an that if He had willed, he would have created us all to have the same religion but He intentionally didnt do so, so that we may strive among ourselves in good deeds & that he may test us based on what was revealed to us (Q5:48).

Allah has also commanded that muslims are supposed to even DEFEND and PROTECT xtians in times of war! All these are contained in the same Quran where people misquote their deadly verses from.

Let us leave religion aside tho & concentrate on the matter.

The Government really needs to use the carrot and stick approach here. Dialogue should NOT be completely ruled out if we are indeed sincere about ending this problem.
The security forces should be called to order & be told to exercise some level of restraint in their ''Shoot first, ask questions later'' approach because it is becoming counter-productive.

Also i think it has become apparent that a lot of violence being perpetrated in the north may have nothing to do with BH. Even the BH guys i suspect will be up for highest bidder.

Our country sent troops to mali, now how secure are our borders? What stops the Mali insurgents from coming into Nigeria? Does the FG even know if Abubakar Shekau is a Nigerian

The BH sponsors GEJ said are in his govt, when is he going to unmask them?

Btw, anyone still saying stuffs like Buhari is behind bokoharam is probably high on soak-away Poo (i hear some people in these war zones get high on it! No kidding), however, everybody can say his /her own, what matters is the truth. Whose responsibility is it to find the truth and reveal it? The Government. Talk about power, roads, food e.t.c., we can share that with the govt, but providing NATIONAL SECURITY? That's like the chief responbility & almost the EXCLUSIVE preserve of the GOVERNMENT.

Mr Buhari spokesman, well done. How are u soo sure he's not a sponsor eehen. Too know go kill you.

Stick and carrot Koo bomb and bullet ni. Another boko haram sympathizer, you all claim the the faceless group has factions and they keep increasing by the day, soo how much carrot can we use to feed the whole north. After all, they are a faceless group so you and ur brothers can join tomorrow Abi ?.

I had expects you to say the army, should focus more on controlling the flow of arms into the country, but you there blaming and criticizing, have your Islamic people not been killing Christians from the existence of Islam that you want the govt to negotiate with terrorist, even mali an Islamic country stood her ground and not negotiate, na big Nigeria go dey beg murders and killers. Babadeen:

Leviticus 25:44
"Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves."

Romans 13:1-5
" 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.
4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience."

Titus 3:1,
"Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good."

Titus 2:9
"Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them"

1 Peter 2:18
"Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh."

Col 3:22
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord."

1 Cor 7:21-22
"21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so.
22 For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave."

Eph 6:5
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

lol!!
So u quoted all this scriptures just to show that Christianity supported slavery, good 1. Bt how come the church also payed a major role at ending slavery.

In those days, slavery was a norm and the scriptures you provided were meant to maintain peace for both master and slaves. Remember Gods children where also slaves in Egypt.

What i need from you are true scriptures were God ordinarily instructed his children to take and maintain slaves, you atheist will never stop misinterpreting the scripture.
So if you fall into a well and I give you advice on how to sustain your self in the well, pending when I get help, that means I support you being in the well abi?

There is no teaching in christianity that was not taught before christianity!

Christianity has caused a lot of bloodshed and slavery. It has continuously hindered the progress of science

Atheism has nothing to do with religion. You need to read.

Furthermore, look up the meaning of "secular" and then look at the top countries in the world to see if they have secular goverments

oga, it really pisses me off when you pretend not to understand and still claim intelligent.so We should go over and over again abi? Detail for detail.

Christianity has not interested with science and will never. The more scientific discoveries are made, the more God reveils himself to us, the better we understand him, the more he appreciates it.

Name the teachings that existed before Christianity. Please and Christianity had never supported slavery.

lastly, where are u driving at with the word "secular" I need more explanation.

mali_gnant: I commend the OP for articulating this home-truth. As a HND and BSc holder, I'm in the best position to analyze the quality of training in the polytechnics and universities.
For a start, I studied Elect/Elect Engineering in IMT Enugu, then later studied MLS at UNEC. Throughout my stay in IMT, no Ph.D holder taught me(some were even HND holders). The best I got was master's. As a matter of fact, my rector(Dr. Onyishi) is one of the few Ph.D holders in my school. I could remember vividly that a each course was taught by a single lecturer from the beginning to the end of the semester. I was disillusioned with a feeling that I was not learning.
Contrast the above with what I got when I entered UNN. One lecturer taught only one topic in a course. Some topics were taught by two or more lecturers. Not more than 3 master degree holders taught me throughout my stay in UNN. I was taught by professors from my first year. I was taught by close to 50 different lecturers in my first year alone. I was overwhelmed with arrays of knowledge and info. The quality of students that I met in UNN were better than that of IMT. The level of discipline was higher in univeristy unlike polytechnic where everything goes.
In conclusion, there is a chasm between the products of the polytechnics and quality universities.

All ur professors and phd holders can not lectture outside the given and acceptable syllabus. There is little difference btw the uni syllabus to that of the polytecnic for each particular course. That both institutions continue to churn out half baked graduate should be our concern, not which is superior to the other. The op already gave a valid point in his first two paragraphs. The fact that the universities continue to give high certifications like msc,phd and professorship is what gives the university an edge, not their graduate. Every graduate has his name to answer.

Its a pity that the UK (our fathers) have moved on. China and the US equates both certificate. Sooooo

So what did the spirit say about how all these things imply that wives should teach their husbands in church?

Don't misinterprets the Bible. God can use anyone as long as the person is willing and available.

Women can teach, preach and head a church. They are also vessels like their male folks. So like I said earlier, the problem with women in ministry is their total submission to the use of God. Pastoral job is not a working day job or an 8-5 job, its a 24/7 job. That is difficult for a married woman to do...She can support her husband in ministry but she is still subject to him.

women who are under the grip of a man MAY not be able to perform in full capacity, you can tell them from the beginning, they hide from certain duties and give excuses lots of times. They use their husbands and family duties to dodge difficult church work. The ones that have the zeal(married or not) will always want to stick their heads out at all times.... And u know women, you can't sideline them wen they are all out.

That's what the spirit says.
