Folks, I have actually gotten away with 150w x 6 (2s3p) 12v system on a 60A MPPT. That's clearly 180w above the allowable limit of 720w (12v system) for the CC.

Just curious if I may get away with 300w x 6 (3s2p) 24v system on the same type of CC. That'll be 360w above the allowable 1,440w (24v system) for the CC.

Please anyone who has done that without frying the CC. Wanna be sure it's practicable.

I know 2s is good, but I prefer 3s cos the vmax of the CC is 150v. I don't wanna do 250w panels either.

My current felicity is 1.5kw but my array is 250w X 9 (3s3p) so you should be fine. Just make sure not to exceed the voltage rating of the CC.

I'm a little bit confused... I don't remember load affecting how effective an inverter charges a battery bank during Standby Mode...

When an inverter is charging battery bank through Mains supply, the Inverter usually operates in "Standby Mode". In this mode, the Inverter has an internal bypass that it uses to directly supply the loads connected to it, at the same voltage as the Mains supply. At the same time, the Inverter draws an independent power to charge the batteries.
The loads connected to the Inverter during charging from Mains Supply do NOT affect the battery charging.

I think you misunderstood me, my understanding was that he was generating 40A and it is from that he was charging and serving his load. There is no way all the 40A will be getting to the battery, secondly since it's lead acid, there will be significant charge current loss as well

The inverter only has a setting for current adjustment and battery type selector. No display but it has led to show different performance inverter on, fast charging, and float charging etc

Normally you require 5 hours to fully charge 24v 200AH at 40A so it seem like a normal behaviour since you said you have load concurrently. It then depends on how much load you have concurrently

What do you think happened to it?

I activated an hour long double 29.4v equalisation with 30min interval on an LFP, so I guess the BMS surged at some point and that affected the inverter. At that time, I didn't know an LFP does not need equalisation(a rapid one for that matter). That's my rough guess on what may have happened.

Though I'm not using it, I read that MK does combined charging too and also can combined both utility and solar for load if solar is not enough.

Please confirm if GK can combine utility and solar to power load as well?

I love the high voltage of GK.

I have gone to look at the mk manual again and yes it does combined charging just like GK and even throws more cumulative amps than GK but I still prefer GK especially when comparing the 3kva of both series. The high VOC is sure a good and bad thing with the GK, it's good when you are able to get sufficient Panels array to ensure early wake up and late sleep.
Yes the GK does load source combination as well.

I am a fan of the GK for 2 things:

1. Combined charging option from both utility and solar
2. Lesser idle consumption compared to MK

Abeg enjoy am. Please avoid the problems (if due to oversights) that may be directly or remotely responsible for the damage of that first board. That first board was too short lived, less than a year if I'm right.

You should get at least 5 years of service out of this thing before you retire it.

So it was not a challenging thing to put in. I guess basically it was just a plug and play thingy.

You're right. The only difference has to do with the soft start. Inverter fridge doesn't require that initial startup surge and would therefore run say in a 500w inverter with no surge capability.

Right that's very correct which is what @mcTrinity was saying as well. I didn't mention the start up as that was not the aspect I was intending to address but yes those "inverter" setups are much better. My fridge could pull as much as 500w on initial, the freezer and AC are more notorious. I certainly can't see any reason why I will get a non-inveter AC going forward after experiencing a GenPal.

Now that my GK replacement boards has arrived and confirmed operational I can now plan for another energy saving gear in near future. Maybe the inverter fridge (with freezer). This energy sufficiency na fun journey o, but account balance no dey smile.

You're right earthrealm... Same observation with mine. After recently upgrading my system, I left my inverter fridge (rated 55W) permanently ON, through a socket-plug energy meter...

Initially consumes around 78W.... After like 12hrs, it drops to 55W... After 14hrs,it drops to 32W.... And further drops to 30W after 15hrs.

Even when it knocks off, when it comes back On, it stays at 30W. And that's where it has been since.. Just hovering around 30W. Sometimes 28W.

There were very few times though, I've noticed the fridge would be On, due to the compressor sound, but the meter is reading less than 10W...

But before the upgrade, I run it from 8am to around 6pm.... Always runs around 78W-62W.

So,yeah... Inverter fridges are best left permanently ON

But isn't this the behaviour of normal fridge as well? It does seem to be the behaviour of my over a decade old thermocool fridge. By the way I don't think the power will remain low if the fridge losses power for a significant period of time. I think it also depends on the environmental temperature set on the fridge.

We have loads of good lithium solar generator in the market. Just ain't cheap. Hard to see a good lithium setup that is as cheap as a small petrol gen.

How many hours and years will the Gen last? On the long run, the 12v 105AH lithium will save cost than the small Gen while also saving from environmental hazards
