Please my husband's passport is still not here, we have received ours.

He submitted a new passport, different from the one he applied with as the old one would expire in October.

I logged in now to track his application status and I see they have details of the old one, can this affect anything or do we need to send a web form? How do we do this? Can we resend the old passport?

Also, his eligibility is completed, background check is completed.

But passport is not sent back yet. This is our second week.

--Question-- How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
--My Answer-- Temporarily - more than 6 months
Is this correct, or should it be "Permanently"?

Pls I want to ask, what if the principal applicant already got their visa but hasn't left Nigeria yet and want to start applying for spouse and 3kids immediately. Is it okay to go ahead or wait until spouse gets to Canada first b4 depending spouse can start the application for SOWP?

My husband SOWP was refused in Nov 2022, we intend to reapply, please does he have to state the refusal and what he has done about it in his LOE.
The refusal was based on finance and assets.
I am open to feedbacks.

@OkukuOne pls what do you mean by after 3 months? Is it 3 months after PPR or 3 months after applicant had settled in Canada b4 spouse and kids can start applying? Thank you

Hi everyone, great responses here i must say.

Please oo, my wife's SOWP has been approved but my 2-year-old daughter's own with a visit visa o, has not been approved.
Has anyone experienced this? if you have, how long more did it take before they approved? wiffy has been approved since last week oo.

* for those who will ask when we applied, it was October 10th and there was no other update apart from Biometric before approval and medical on the same day*

You child already have VV, right? if yes, no need. If no, there is no need still because you already one running for him/her in your wife's profile.

I got married to my wife in lagos, 2 saturdays ago.she currently schools in canada and her student visa expires in May 2024, though her program ends in August 2024 and she intend to apply for extension. her program also qualifies her for a 3 year pgwp

As for me, I got my visitor's visa in november but I never mentioned that I have someone in canada, I only applied to visit as a tourist.

she is going back to canada in January and we are considering applying for her student visa extension and my SOWP together when she returns, is this a good strategy? and how can we do this?.

Option 2 is for me to start the sowp process immediately but I am worried that she doesnt have up to 6 months left on her visa and also how do I explain that I have known her and we have bn dating for years, considering that I never mentioned her when I applied and obtained my VV

1. can I still apply for spousal open work permit under same application from Nigeria or cancel the visitor's visa and apply for sowp.

Yes. You do not need to cancel your VV Application

This is not exactly what I said am saying that with a work permit visa if expired and you go to flagpole if the officer ask u if are currently working and u answer yes it's illegal and u can be sent home reason is that by the virtue of your visa as a work permit holder u are not supposed to keep working once your visa has expired expect where you apply before the expiration date then u can keep working until approval and in this case if he wants to flagpole he will wait for the spouse to get approved because his on an open work permit with the spouse as his main reason now if he gets to boarder when his initial visa has expired and his asked if his working if he answers yes he may be heading to lagos having breached his initial sowp visa condition I know someone who is currently back in lagos spending money on immigration lawyers to get him back but if in doubt it's always good to try and if successful its a win and if otherwise it's a lesson

Flag poling is great but one miss question at the border ends badly remember in this case he will be going with an expired visa because before the wife's permit will be approved the visa maybe expired and one tricky question officers normally ask is are you working if you answer yes then its a serious issue because by the conditions of ur visa once expired I u have not applied for extension ur illegally working 2 Nigerians are currently battling it as they on their way to be deported so it's a choice

Thank you Boss. She is starting a new course next year and hereby seeking her study permit extension. So from what I hear you say, her study permit extension is enough for me to apply for SOWP.
Does this mean if her study permit is extended, it automatically extends her visa too?

Not too early, just that it's advisable to travel a month to the start of the program.

Also, it is advisable for them to apply together or for the wife to apply first?

If you have the required POF and a good love story, i would say both should apply as the same time.

If the wife decides to apply first and she gets her study visa approved, can the husband apply for SOWP immediately while the wife is still in Nigeria?

Yes, with a good reason why you did not apply initially.
