Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by okzcorp:
stacydual: This is my 1st post on nairaland, I won't discourage or encourage what U have been doing here.
I am 23yrs of age with 2years experience before I came 2do NYSC and in the process applied for this.
When I first came back to write the first stage of this NLNG, I stumbled upon this thread but became furious wen I realised I had to wait for weeks to make a comment after registering. Since then I just became a "Silent follower". And found out some stuffs which I believe most of us take for granted >>> I can tell you I was laughing throughout when I was writing the SHL because I registered and paid online and practiced as much questions as possible everyday. Wen I saw the last section I nearly went mad because it was just something in a textbook I bought and read in Camp when I was bored.
Now we are all successful; but am gonna give some advice.
I got to realise that in Nigeria, people are more dependent on ideas and things to get them to Success faster and not realising the consequences or taking "mitigative" actions..... Somebody said practice practice practice on this network and he is 500% right.
lipsrsealed People were disqualified from the entrance gate during the 1st n 2nd stage but never knew....
embarassed Remember you are "competing" to be selected: We can share ideas for group work, Case studies, but on answering some interviewing question please don't ever do it here or public, if possible keep it to yourself or communicate privately (HR in every organisation has a trend and their junior or young employees are given tasks like this; to investigate social sites and comeback with feedbacks).
When out of 350, 100 are answering almost all interview question in the same pattern, the bar *might* be raised higher for these particular people. I have witnessed friends of mine get kicked out for this kinda situation shocked . From my extensive research, NLNG isn't in the same class as NNPC, SNEPCO or mobil.... Only Total can come close to the class of LNGs Worldwide wen it comes to organisation and fault-finding.
smiley Never give out your answers of personal interviews publicly....

Someone called Ddplacement made comments in an elegant way (That shows he knows the System and trying to beat HR) but later he decided to stop, ask yourself Y? and who contacted him to stop and how?

Assessment Center - ADVICE:
From my final Summer class before graduation we were advised to register and practice Case Studies, Group/Teamwork, Role plays, we even got to be supervisors during these AC-practice at a stage and that really helped most of us, I have only been unsuccessful in 1 AC amongst all and dat was my 1st.... Now please:
Try and register in an online practice centre or some school portals that offer that.
Solve case studies, group work in public/nairaland with friends but please #Understand the pattern and sequence of analysis, Do not ever be expectant of seeing the same case Study#
Watch some case or group studies online.

There is an ebook I will try to check on my school portal if it still exists, will host it so anyone interested can download/read it, it will help you pass interviews and ACs. in as much as its close to 290 pages, I took my time to read and made small notes, since then, I hardly read for an interview or AC.

There are friends of mine working in Multi-nationals in Nigeria that made it to this stage, and they keep making it to this stage for a reason, they are as intelligent as we all are but ask yourself how do they do it. *Extensive Research* which can never leave them. Some of the participant in this AC stage are here to negotiate higher salaries. Do not be intimidated, because most of them will mistakenly forget this is a GT-position and give more than required.

Ask yourself what are you expected to achieve within 6months after you have resumed work in NLNG Use that as a basis for all the answers to your interview questions.

I will make a contribution to the bridge crossing Case-study and ask some questions.
Even though I cant remember all the Case-study questions I have done before, will share to my remembrance...
TO YOUR TENTS O ISRAEL. #miscontrued#

Chrisbenogor: Everything makes sense except this
32 - 15 = 17 ( so at least after NYSC)
17- 1 = 16 ( Finished Uni at 16 with 1st Class in Electronics Engineering)
16 - 5 = 11 ( 5 years to study Electronics Engineering )
11 - 6 = 5 ( got into secondary school at 5)
5 -6 = -1 undecided undecided undecided undecided

Na why I fail for school well well undecided undecided, I know say na night school I go but no vex bros help me explain am.
LOL. I love Nigerians and I love you man. Not for questioning his age buh for actually picking interest in doing that. Buh he neva claimed he studied electronics Engr. If its OND or a techical qualification in Electronics, then HIS CLAIM CUD BE PLAUSIBLE and renders ur inquiry untenable.

PiperAlpha was an offshore platform in Aberdeen Scotland where d worst oil rig disaster in history occurred, I think sometime in d fall of '89. I recall researching on it during oil pollution nd control class in my futo days.

majekdom2: well , am not so sure about this tho , but my thought is these companies wouldnt mind pulling out when it becomes unbearable for them. there has been a decline in lng export because of the shale gas thing. If NNPC had been run the way saudi aramco was , we won't have the story that oil isnt enough for our economy. how many expats are working in nnpc, aramco operated as an entity with the IOCs in the start , I mean it was aramco america corporation, and then the state took over totally. if we had something like total nigeria national pet corp am sure we wont have issues when the state takes over fully because a good working culture and technology would have become imminent. tho , there are complaints that aramco is not been free with information and not transparent with its financial reports being controlled by the royal family but the truth is the industry state is much better than nigeria.the company boasts that they can pay what any IOC would pay an employee in ten yrs in a year. our dear alison says the PIB would increase government's participation. has the government got the technology ,good quality of human resources and capital ?
we say oil is not enough to cater for our needs , whats the assurance we would manage any other sector considered to be an option effectively.
Am sorry if this has been boring to anybody. e just dey always pain me for body as greed and selfish attitude is killing the black man.

if you are a trained sea man and you have a safety button on a ship in case of severe damage to the ship to avoid sinking. You have never used this button in a real life ship crisis and your ship was sinking in the middle of the ocean, do you pray before locating the button?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by okzcorp: 7:22am On Jul 29, 2014
Well I would choose UNIPORT and PORT HARCOURT.
Why UNIPORT?
The school enjoys a relative high number of students in a remote village unlike the others mentioned. The restauran will enjoy a long term monopoly and few competition unlike a restaurant in unilag which is situated in commerial town of yaba. Ther is a ready market in this region.
WHY POrtharcourt
The GDP per head in Port harcourt is higher than those of Lagos state and Abuja. This implies that an average resident of PH is likely to patronize the restaurant despite the cost of service than any resident in other state. Comparing the number of working class in the oil sector (the mainstream of the Nigerian Economy) in these regions, you will agree with me that PH has a relatively higher number which earned it the Moniker, the Oyel City. The number margin will be a plus to the success of the restaurant.
U guys have said it all, your opinions are plausible, jux adding my own to yours. My argument cud be untenable or dubious please address the flaws.
Rmb The aim is to convince the company (interviewers) or in this case US ( nairalanders) .

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by okzcorp: 11:31pm On Jul 28, 2014
Savant: @okzcorp, thanks for the mention. I feel valued.

The answers to these type of questions are subjective: one just has to select any option and then generate reasons for the choice made fully cognizant of the pros and cons for making such decisions. I believe the aim is to check ones leadership acumen, persuasion skills, analytical ability and initiative.

My choices are therefore University of Lagos and Lagos Island respectively. I will give concise explanations for arriving at my decision.

In establishing a Restaurant for the youth particularly those in the Tertiary institution I considered the following factors.

1. Population base

I could be wrong but I believe UNILAG has more students and facilities than any of the other universities mentioned. This invariably means that the school would be a better and perhaps more viable market for my restaurant. Also considering they have alot of programmes being done in the school like Diploma, all levels of PGD programmes with perhaps the greatest range of courses available and a lot of their facilities being used on lease by different companies and individuals across all walks of life then it is logical to assume that there would always be a large customer base at any point P and time T.

2. Accessibility

UNILAG is in Yaba. Yaba can be considered as a bit central in terms of its characterization as rural or urban. It is not too far from the mainland and also a mere '3rd mainland bridge' away from the Island. Except on very special days it is uncommon to find gridlock traffic on one's way to the school which gives credence to its accessibility.

3. Employment Base

This is an offspring of point 1. In this case I am considering the fact that it will be reasonably easy to find employees for the restaurant considering that a large population such as Lagos' will consequently have a significantly higher number of unemployed individuals willing and able to work for the restaurant.

4. Visibility

Considering how Well-known and visible UNILAG is I have no doubts that we would enjoy a lot of patronage from Akokites as well as Lagosians in general.

5. Security

The spates of bombings by BH and even cultist wars and killings are not rife within the school and its environs. People should have least reservations concerning visiting as they would to a place like UNIBEN OR UNIPORT where such wars seem to be the order of the day.

6. Facility/nearness to raw materials

There would be a handful of buildings to pick from should one decide to lease it and considering how cosmopolitan Lagos is, it would be equally easy to acquire the necessary furniture that the restaurant will require, the electricals and even the food stuff and ingredients needed for cooking. Everything you need is in Lagos.

My reasons for selecting Lagos Island for building the second restaurant is somewhat similar to my points above and may only differ in that Lagos Island for the most part houses the bourgeois of the city: those more akin to patronise the restaurant. Also, most of the better paying jobs are situated on the Island and as such is a viable catchment area for the working class. Power supply is reasonably better than that in PHC and even if ABUJA might enjoy better power supply than Lagos it pales in the area of the workingclass population (which should be cogent in selecting a location). Also, there are more filling stations in lagos than Abuja and one can easily gain access to these stations to replenish stock of the required Fuel needed to augment the said 'power supply'. Lagos is definitely more secure than Abuja.

I am sure there are more reasons but I am typing from my phone and I am also currently out of ideas. You should give me your own opinion and if/when possible constructively criticize mine too.

Cheers mate.

Then Dplacement was recruited in 2008 and was part of the 2007 Graduate recruitment process and prolly encountered these set of interview questions during his assessment same year (2007) smiley
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by okzcorp: 7:53pm On Jul 28, 2014
DPlacement: @PrinceofParis interesting post! You are indeed very bold!

By the way, this is in no way a rhetoric.

These questions were pretty much asked verbatim at the assessment centre in 2007.

I do not know and am not in a position to find out if the same questions will be asked 7 years later but as I said before, you don't need to overache your brains in preparing for the assessment centre.

I advise all successful to just relax and not be too bothered about what questions are asked or what format it will take.

If you are good enough to get to this stage, a lack of preparation will not hinder your progress.

If you are good, you are good.
Oga Dplacement thank you for your confirmation of these questions. Buh you stated earlier that you weren't part of the 2007 intake, I humbly ask, how did you know abt the familiarity of the questions? Are u part of the 2007 interviewer?
