Federal public service is very different from the state service. Any minister that want to take on the civil servant will run into trouble sooner than later. Umahi needs to calm down and work with the ministry staff if he intends to achieve anything meaningful in the ministry.

A US woman has been charged with murder after shooting an Uber driver she thought was kidnapping her, police say.
According to police in the border city of El Paso, Texas, Phoebe Copas believed she was being taken into Mexico.
She then shot driver Daniel Piedra Garcia, the authorities said in a statement.
The 52-year-old died in hospital after several days on life support.
As she was in the car, Copas saw traffic signs that read Juarez, Mexico, according to police documents.
The two cities lie side-by-side on either side of the US-Mexico border.
Police documents further explain that after thinking she was being kidnapped, Copas pulled a gun from her handbag and shot the driver in the head. The car then hit barriers before coming to a stop.
Copas - who is from Kentucky but was visiting her boyfriend - is alleged to have then called the emergency number 911, took a photo of the driver and texted it to her boyfriend.
"The investigation does not support that a kidnapping took place or that Piedra was veering from Copas' destination," El Paso police statement said.

A government official in India has been suspended after he ordered a reservoir to be drained to retrieve his phone.
It took three days to pump millions of litres of water out of the dam, after Rajesh Vishwas dropped the device while taking a selfie.
By the time it was found, the phone was too water-logged to work.
Mr Vishwas claimed it contained sensitive government data and needed retrieving, but he has been accused of misusing his position.
The food inspector dropped his Samsung phone, worth about $1,200 (100,000 rupees), into Kherkatta Dam, in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, on Sunday.
After local divers failed to find it, he paid for a diesel pump to be brought in, Mr Vishwas said in a video statement quoted in Indian media.
He said he had verbal permission from an official to drain "some water into a nearby canal", adding that the official said it "would in fact benefit the farmers who would have more water".
The pump ran for several days, emptying out some two million litres (440,000 gallons) of water - reportedly enough to irrigate 6 sq km (600 hectares) of farmland.
His mission was stopped when another official, from the water resource department, arrived following a complaint.
"He has been suspended until an inquiry. Water is an essential resource and it cannot be wasted like this," Priyanka Shukla, a Kanker district official, told The National newspaper.
Mr Vishwas has denied misusing his position, and said that the water he drained was from the overflow section of the dam and "not in usable condition".
But his actions have drawn criticism from politicians, with the state's opposition BJP party's national Vice-President tweeting, "When people are depending upon tankers for water facility in in scorching summers, the officer has drained 41 lakh litres which could have been used for irrigation purpose for 1,500 acres of land."

Atiku wins Presidential election in Akwa Ibom


The Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has won the elections in Akwa Ibom State with 214,012 votes.
Also, the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, came second with 160,620 votes, and Labour Party, third with 132, 683 votes, while the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and New Nigerian People's Party (NNPP) came fourth and fifth with 27,179 and 7, 796 votes respectively.

Hello Nairalanders, please I need your help urgently as regards a banking transaction on my account

I have a Pos shop in Ibadan which I put someone there to manage for me, we accept card transaction and also transfer from bank.

It happened that on the 15th of October 2022, someone came to do transaction in my shop so he sent 20000 twice from Opay with the account name FOLAKE KOLAWOLE and the transaction was confirmed and the person paid his money.

To my greatest surprise last week Friday which happened to be 21st of October 2022,I received some money into my account and I realised the sum of 40000 naira was withheld in my account so on getting to the bank today 24th October,22 I was told the bearer FOLAKE KOLAWOLE reported the transaction as fraud and that was the reason the money was withheld.

I asked for the way forward and I was told I will have to contact the said kolawole folake so she can go to her bank and clear the transaction whereas there is no means to get the lady and no phone number attached.

So I am appealing to all and sundry if u know any kolawole folake that banks with Opay and did a transaction of 20000 twice to an access account so I can reach her or if there’s any other means

If the transfer was really from an OPAY account, then the account number is that person's phone number. Just prefix it with a zero.

Shola Ogudu, the mother of singer Wizkid’s son, Boluwatife, has narrated what she was told about the “immoral act” engaged in by students of Chrisland Schools, Lagos.

The incident happened when the students travelled to Dubai to participate in the World School Games from March 10 to 13.

Ogudu said her son described the video as disgusting, claiming that the female student involved didn’t immediately know the implication of her action.

She also urged parents to pay close attention to their children while narrating what she heard via her Instagram handle, @O.Oluwashola.



She posted, “I accompanied my son to represent his school at the just-concluded WSG.

“I remember vividly the ‘shock’ in my son’s face when he was telling me about a video some other kids were watching. He said mum, ‘I couldn’t stand the video I had to excuse myself’. He said the gist circulating was that the girl and her click played a game of truth or dare, of which this particular girl couldn’t stop with the mind bugging dares. I couldn’t believe my ears when I learned about the nasty activities these little kids get themselves involved in.

“To make matters worse, even when she was accosted about the video, she was owing to it with her full chest.”

Shola also cautioned against blaming the school and teachers for the “immoral act”, saying parents also have a role to play in a child’s uprightness.

I'm not trying to join issue with you here, but are you saying that women don't rape boys?If that is what you're saying,then I make bold to tell you that you are absolutely wrong. Women do rape boys, and I'm telling you this from personal experience. It's just that it's not being reported because mainly, the victim sees the act as a sort of triumph. I have gotten a lot of unecessary flak for calling what happened to the girl rape. My decision to call it rape has a lot to do with the fact that the girl was underaged, and also that , in the abscence of a romeo and juliet law (google it ) it meets the definintion

Having said that, an underaged boy too in my opinion cannot give consent for sex legally.

Anyways, that's my final word on the matter. I am not here to play femminists vs men, and in my opinion, whether they call it rape or consensual sex...it is wrong, wrong, wrong.
