Politics / Ali Modu-Sherrif Forceful Entry Into Party Secretariat Is Illegal - PDP by OLADD: 12:36am On Feb 24, 2017
By Ben Agande Abuja

Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP has described the take over of the secretariat of the party by Senator Modu Sheriff as “illegal and most unwelcome”

A statement signed by Dayo Adeyeye reacting to the action said Sheriff should be held responsible for any loss of party document and property.

“As far as we are concerned, the forceful entry of Ali Modu-Sheriff and his team into the party secretariat is illegal and most unwelcome.

“We say this because the keys to the secretariat is with the Board of Trustees and we’ve checked with them, and can confirm that the keys were not handed over to Sheriff or any of his followers.

“The implication of this was that he broke into the secretariat which is a criminal offence.

“We also expected that Modu-Sheriff should have waited for the conclusion of the Appeal we filed at the Supreme Court before he forced himself in just like we held on when we got court judgement favouring us last year.

“We are condemning his action in totality and we view it as an affront on the rule of law.

“Given his act of illegality, we stated clearly that he should beheld responsible for any loss of documents or damage to the property within the party secretariat.

“The administrative staff as accounting officers were not around to see the event happen, and as the custodians of the property of the party, they refused to participate in the illegal entry made by Ali Modu-Sheriff.

“His action is provocative and is capable of causing another round of crisis in the party. “We advise him in his own interest, to vacate the secretariat immediately.

“We also call on authority of the Nigerian Police to prevent chaos by flushing Ali Modu-Sheriff and his team out of the PDP secretariat and let all parties wait for the judgement of the Supreme Court which is the highest court in the land” he said.

Any self-destructive action taken by this Buhari led All Progressives Conmen govt is okay by me. APC and their jingoists will never know peace until they stop playing politics with the lives of Nigerians. These heartless human beings rode to power on the blood of innocent Nigerians, yet can't formulate any single policy that's favourable to common man.

The problem is that while I agree with you that the President bears primary responsibility for the economic malaise, people like Adeosun and Udoma compound the problem as in the little area they have policy leeway - the size of government spending - they champion the idea that Nigeria needs fiscal stimulus and monetary easing.

Look at that tweet Adeosun released - see post just before yours - about releasing N350bn every quarter as if it's a panacea to stagflation. It needs to be noted that the 2016 recession deepened when the 2016 budget was passed (remember when the likes of passingshot were screaming that things will get better once the budget is passed?). The economy has shrunk now in February 2017 relative to February 2016 when oil prices and production were lower. The Naira was between N360 to N390 to $1 in February 2016 and N510 to $1 in February 2017. This should tell the likes of Adeosun that an increase in money supply worsens currency depreciation but she doesn't get it.

Again, as with her 4 year tenure as Ogun state commissioner for finance (something I keep harping on), a reckless proclivity for borrowing and spending which left her state requesting a bailout has been carried over to the federal level. There is a real intellectual failing here traceable to her ilk which goes beyond Buhari's famed obstinacy.

In the history of Nigeria, no head of govt had exhibited dictatorial tendencies more than Buhari either as a military head of state or as an executive president. Aside been seemingly intellectually handicapped he's a leader who always want things done in his own way and at his own pace. With such personality at the helm of affairs, it's often difficult for subordinates to freely express themselves and be as productive as they can. Okonjo Iwealla and Adesina were given the freehand to handle their respective portfolios without unnecessary hindrances from Obasanjo and Jonathan and the results were so evident .Instead, we have a president who wants to usurp the roles of CBN governor, EFCC Chairman and Finance Minster. A President who's fixated on1980s economic models rather than 21st century market-driven economy. While the ministers have their loads of inefficiencies, Buhari's anti-progressive influence and overbearing attitude can't be waived aside.

These monies are been syphoned to finance APC 2019 election campaigns. I have said it in the past; Abacha's looting will be a child's play when Buhari's lid of corruption is opened after his tenure.

If this tweet is from Reno Omokri, I think he's ridiculously stup!d. The other day it was Adeyanju making a mess of himself with the Trump inauguration tweet and now Reno is displaying how kindergarten and naïve he is. The institution attended does not really matter but one's depth of intellectual capability and cognitive experience. Adeosun is not underperforming because of her polytechnic background but dearth of experience required at presidency level coupled with entanglement with a vision-less leader. These are the guys that killed PDP indirectly with thoughtless talks.

In this time of economic recession,is it not wise for a right thinking government to close the zoo and dispose of it's animals,of what economic importance is that zoo sited in Aso rock villa,if not for looting purposes. Our government and leaders can never set their priority right, always misplacing their priority.

Very apt comment.

Useless wailings. Was it Buhari that built the zoo at aso rock? Did Jonathan not budget for the feeding of animals including his numerous Alsatians while at aso rock.
What exactly are wailers wailing about now? To stop feeding the animals and allow them starve to death or close down the zoo.

If chief wailers Ben Bruce has issues with the zoo and wants it closed down, he has the power to do something about it instead of wailing on twitter.

Did Jonathan prevent Buhari from closing down the zoo for the sake of cutting cost?

DelGardo:

Whether he reads every line in the budget or relies on others to do it is not the issue. The question is : are you aware that there is a zoo, which is a part of Aso Rock, for which a budget provision must be made?

Even if the animals are in a public zoo they must be fed otherwise they starve. So it is either the Senate tells Buhari to close the zoo (that is a national asset) or approve what they consider sufficient to run the zoo.

Mr Ben Bruce has failed to state what it costs to run a zoo the size of the one in Aso Rock for a year. We need to know that, in order to determine whether N40m is excessive or not. That is part of his job in the senate.

Not this unnecessary sensationalism!

Try to look at issues intellectually before making comments. The president does not need any lecture from the National Assembly before taking drastic decision on plucking leakages and cutting cost. Of what relevance is a zoo to the country in this recession period? Do you know that N40m can feed an entire clan for 5 years?

And the same president boasted that he would not allow the anomalies(padding) that trailed the 2016 appropriation bill to be repeated in the 2017 budget proposal. This goes to show that Buhari is not in charge of this govt and he would never be.

Ben Murray Bruce should do his job instead of screaming, he is in the Senate. The budget is not final and it must be passed by the Senate.

Why do you guys like talking before thinking? Just take time to go through your statement again and tell us if vetting budget proposal is not within the jurisdiction of Ben Bruce.

More importantly, are you claiming Buhari was not aware such bogus proposal was included in the budget?

Bayelsa East Senatorial District Senator, Ben Murray Bruce has lambasted the Buhari led federal government for giving priority to animals while Nigerians are suffering.

The Senator lamented that when Nigerians are finding it difficult to eat, the government during this period decided to budget a whopping sum of N40m to feed animals in the presidential villa.

On his Twitter handle ‏@benmurraybruce, Murray-Bruce tweeted: “It breaks my heart that at a time when many Nigerians can’t eat, we are budgeting ₦40 million to feed wildlife in Aso Rock Presidential Villa!"

Recall that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently released reports on the percentage of increment in prices of kerosene, petrol and transportation as against the previous year.

These commodities are believed to be essential to every Nigerian as it directly impact their living standards.

The reports which touched every state of the federation showed massive increments in terms of money being paid by Nigerians for these essential commodities.

However, despite the gloomy report, and the drastic reduction in the purchasing power of Nigerians, the government budgeted a whooping sum for feeding animals.

Shameless human beings. Instead of ruminating over the evil foisted on Nigeria by their incompetent slave Master (Buhari) and his journeymen , they're here salivating over PDP internal affairs. When Fayose spoke about APC internal crisis in 2014, Lai Mohammed simply asked him to mind his business. Here we now have busybodies who won't just maintain their lane.
