I was there, although I condenmed the actions of the booers, cos we need him to reverse our school fees and a lot of things,,the only way to achieve that is to play like you're really in support of him,not to boo him........but on the other hand, we know coming 2015,we will definitely vote him out. Pedagogue: I expected this.
This is called the 'powers of the presidency'.
It takes a dogged man not to cave or sell away when he's offered many good things of life and threatened if he refuses.
Ibikunle, or whatever is the name of the young lad, has obviously sold the IFE SUG; he doesn't deserve to spend a day more on that exalted seat.
A video of the whole booing and pelting drama was sent to me by one of my protégés in IFE. It wasn't done by a portion of the student crowd as the compromised Ibikunle wants the public to believe. It was done in a 'Great IFE manner'.
Although I left IFE more than a decade ago, the Great IFE spirit is aeonian and cuts across generations.
......... If IFE is still IFE, this Ibikunle lad will be impeached today...Nevertheless, this may not happen 'cos they are writing exams; IFE students are 'always solemn' during this period! That may well be his saving grace.
...... This is the same Ibikunle that accepted a bus gift from Iyiola Omisore before the guber elections in Osun State. It is a big shame that this obviously putrid fellow has rubbished the achievements of his predecessors in such a short period of time.
Ibikunle will go down in the history books as the IFE SUG President that was caged, sewed and conquered.
The good thing however is; he does not represent majority of Great IFE students ...and since time immemorial, IFE SUG has never been about any individual...it has always and will always be about the collective strength of all GREAT IFE students. Unfortunately, you can bark from today till eternity, your voice will only be heard in your family or amongst empty barrels like you. The Students Union President is the voice of OAU today, any other running mouth like yours can be likened to Obama's dog. Whatever you say or do does not matter but that of the union does. GEJ TILL APC LEARNS TO PLAY THE GAME BY THE RULES. |

phantonce: Ibikunle, you can lie o o.See how this guy dey manipulate story. if he is sure of himself,he should come and repeat this story to us in the hall and see what will happen. u've said your own from your own angle.
This is my own story to yesterday happenings ..
Today, i did my part, i made my stand. Happy joining OAU students to show President Jonathan his government and poverty-inducing capitalist policies are not welcomed. He expected a rousing welcome, instead he was confornted with a protest. Fayose got perhaps the biggest embarrassment of his life today. He walked confidently to Ife students expecting to be applauded. I can't yet forget the look of shock on his face as shout of Ole! Ole ! (Thief! Thief!) rented the air. Hastily his security details whisked him away. President Jonathan's convoy was delayed as students sat on the road chanting slogans. Clumsily one by one, the royal fathers made their way out not sure who next would be greeted with shout of "thief!" Those to be pitied (not sure if they even deserve it though) were the hundreds of PDP supporters who had thronged the campus with different banners to welcome Jonathan. They looked dejected, their banners hanging around them. How could they start dancing as they planned with the hundreds of students chanting solidarity songs just beside them? At the end, as the helicopters lifted from the ground, i didnt see a single person waving the President goodbye. It was like good riddance. If my guess is right, someone might soonbe fired for fixing OAU on the President's itinery Despite attempts by a wing of the union leadership to sell-out, great Ife students have demonstrated how oppressors and exploiters should be treated. I would do it again anytime, any day If it's true you partook in those shenanigans as an undergraduate, your future woes are guaranteed. |

Where Jonathan did not secure more than 10% in Osun in 2011 but PDP polling more than 40% in the last guber poll in 2014? You mean those 40% voters and many more will not give Jonathan at least 25% in 2015 in Osun? Be realistic. So how come Tambuwal won with 253 votes Did you bother to dissect my post at all? When the issue of two-third is been thrown up, it does not presuppose the majority party (PDP in this instance) coming out with the entire figure but with the compliment of other minority parties. As regards the issue on discuss, nobody needs any further postulations to align with PDP's resolve to have Speaker's position zoned to the southwest because of our political configuration. That's only the panacea for equity and justice since the other major positions i.e Presidency, VP and Senate Presidency had been taken up by the South south, Northwest and North central respectively. If Tinubu was patriotic enough as he erroneously claimed, the opposition should have jettisoned parochial interest for national interest by ensuring that a South westerner emerged Speaker. |

Now I agree GEJ doesn't have an idea what democracy reallyis and he is only there by chance and a prosper misfit. Rather you are the one that deserves some tutelage on the workings of Nigerian democracy. From the first Republic until 2011, the major political positions vis-a-vis President, VP, Senate President and Speaker had always been spread and shared among the various geopolitical zones of the country and that informed PDP's decision to zone the position of the speaker to the southwest to avoid cry of marginalisation before Tambuwwal in collaboration with Tinubu selfishly did the unthinkable. A Yoruba woman was nominated by PDP (being the majority party in the House) for that position but Tinubu's treachery ensured it did not see light of the day. |

Many do not know how GEJ has dealt with politicians (mostly of northern extraction) by expunging millions of GHOST WORKERS from the civil service. That has been a major conduit pipe through which billions of Nigerian money was been drained into personal pockets. Few are also unaware that perennial FERTILIZER fraud been used by northern politicians to butter their breads at the expense of their own people has been blocked by Jonathan through the efficient Agric Minister. These are some of the reasons why the north is hell bent in BRINGING-OUR-GOVERNMENT-BACK. Those are some of the "sins" Jonathan has committed and that's why Boko Haram was unleashed on him. |

I don't blame him because tribalism is the only thing he has going for him and the few that will be voting for him in 2015 will only be doing so based on tribalism. No one can justify voting this fool in again based on his performance, his fight against corruption, economic growth that impacts the common man or anything positive. Even OBJ brought GSM. Someone whom providence gave the opportunity to occupy a vital position but he decided to use it towards personal gains and aims. All I see is a man is a clueless, drowning man who is fighting a lost battle against his God, his friends, his enemies and his citizens by assaulting their elected representatives. He will soon be sent to the evil abyss from whence he came...along with all those who don't mean well for Nigeria. I will forever curse the day I voted for this man in 2011 and I will continue to apologize to the upcoming generations of Nigerians for that decision. I had no shoes indeed

The same man will go to the North and preach religious tolerance and unity of the country when in fact he has a 3rd force of social media charlatans commissioned to denigrate the Northerners and insult their religion
He will go to the SS and have his side-kicks like Asari threaten people that he must be given a 2nd term by force
It is too late in the day for GEJ to fool any one by trying to be a stateman on the eve of the election when we know that he is the most divisive President we ever had Deep down in your subconsciousness, I am very sure part of your conscience (if you have any) is telling you that you are a liar and subverter of truth. I will crave your indulgence to mention times and places where the president has disparaged any region of this country either in the areas of religion, sociocultural identities or otherwise. Rather the president had told his audience and by extension, the Nigerian people how the plan of his party to ensure equity and fair representation in the sharing of four major political offices amongst the major regions of the country was thwarted by Tinubu in collaboration with some power drunk northern political leaders. If you have any semblance of honesty in you, does it not negate all logical postulations for a region to hijack the positions of VP, Senate President and Speaker to itself thereby depriving the Southwest the reserved and merited Speakership position? Was that not the crux of the President's position? Did he commit any sacrilege for saying the truth? In your self-delusion, you are positing that the people of the southwest are not in tune with the realities on ground and may not probably vote for Jonathan in 2015, you are wrong man. Why did Ahmadu Bello, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe place so much priorities fighting for regional autonomies? Nigeria is a forced UNION and NOT A NATION. Onegai: The number of people to be hired to assemble this cannot be more than 300. Because they're no fabricating, they're joining already-made parts.
6 years ago, I saw at Trade Fair in Lagos and read several proposal submitted to Govt about BRICKETS, a clean fuel material made from sawdust and waste materials readily and freely available in Nigeria. These brickets burned cleaner than coal. These proposals and demos were all done by Nigerian lecturers (Uniben and some Polytechnics if I recall). If the govt had given them grants, we would need to hire scavengers at all our refuse dumps in 36 states (so let's say 100 per state). Then hire people to set up companies to collect sawdust from every logging facility in the SW (let's saw 10 people get the contract, they will use the model of PSP and hire 10 people minimum per PSP,) that's a 100 people. Then people to work in the Bricket manufacturing facility, another 100-150, minus the skilled technicians and mangers supervising them (50). So that's 400 people and they would still be unable to make enough for the country, so we would have Bricket-producing facilities in each state. Oh, I forgot, we need distributors and marketeers for selling the end-product.
Import= 300 people hired (a generous estimate)
Locally-sourced and made = minimum 600-1000 people in a manufacturing industry and we have not even thought of EXPORTING our clean-burning Bricket to nations like Gambia, Sierra Leone and countries where International Bodies are willing to pay and subsidise stuff for them (because their economy is so poor). Lord knows how much money Nigeria would have made.
I'm glad you've taken the time to read how your govt keeps making you poorer with your ignorance as an aid. Don't thank me, you're welcome Let's assume the figure of 300 direct beneficiaries of the assemble plant is correct ( but I doubt its tenability), what about hundreds of dependants they stand to feed? On a larger picture, do you consider the enormity of the stove's impact on the lives of women who trek miles to fetch firewood? Is their life expectancy subject to improvement or otherwise? If you take care of women, you are indirectly catering for the welfare of the nation and no amount spent to that effect is a waste. |
