barcanista: The ruling will be challenged in a superior court Whether the ruling is challenged in an inferior or ultra-superior court, Tambuwwal has set a bad record of being the first sitting Speaker( no.4 citizen) driving himself to the National Assembly without official security and paraphernalia of office and ridiculing himself by behaving like a common thug. What does that portray to you? Shame! He has been confined to where he truly belongs; Association of Polithugs Confraternity. It isn't good for his political résumé. |

Firefire: Good News Tambu-gone( sorry Tambuwwal) is just bidding time. He knows his position as Speaker and member of the House has become history but he's craftily playing on the intelligence of the judiciary and Nigerians. If he's allowed to have his way, a dangerous precedence would have been set in our democracy. Anyway, whether the news is true or not, all fingers crossed but he MUST not be allowed to desecrate that exalted Speaker's office.. |

At this point in Nigeria's struggle for survival, what we need is competent leaders while turning blind eyes to religion. Because MKO Abiola was a cult figure in the North, South, West and East parts of Nigeria. Hey was loved by even almajiris and non-muslims alike. Not tribalists and fanatics that parade themselves as elders and statesmen. |

gists: My brother, I am tempted to agree with you on the bolded. But I also have a general opinion that on its own, religion is not the problem of Nigeria (or indeed of the world) but the HUMAN INTERPRETATION OF THE MESSAGE OF THE VARIOUS RELIGIONS. Most religious texts for any faith can be turned on its head to suit the purpose of the very powerful human minds.
In this particular case, I believe PDP antics deprive the nation probably the best possible combination. A party that has nothing TANgible thing to campaign on and in its desperation and devilish wisdom decided to cause acrimony among the people in order to stay in power by hammer on the nation's fault line (as if pdp is a christian party and if so let the majority muslim north cast their votes for apc) Dem don come again. Always suppressing glaring truths. Religion has been a big factor in Nigerian polity even before the birth of PDP. Why did Buhari say "Muslims should only vote for those who can only protect Islam" I know there are fact-twisters who will say he never uttered such statement but it's on records that he did. More so, why is it that Hausa-Fulani Muslims don't pray in the same mosque with their southern Muslim counterparts? Is that a mere coincidence or propelled by PDP? Do you know that one of the reasons Mulikat Akande was traded for Tambugo(sorry Tambuwwal) was her gender, the northern MHR saying over their dead bodies will a woman and an infidel(that's what northern Muslims call the southerners) peside over them as Speaker? Why are Christians clamouring for a christian governor in Lagos state in 2015? Is it PDP that instigated that? APC should remove its garment of Islamic connotations and embrace the reality. It's not about PDP. Simple. |

APC should be wary of playing a weaker team in an attempt to please PDP members who will never vote APC. No matter who APC put up as candidates, this group of People will look for any possible lie to demonize them.

The archaic leaders of the PDP are busy forcing their grand daughters mates into marriage after making our youths jobless and insecure so that they can snatch their young girls and intimidate then with their power. Don't go there. Do Kate Henshaw, Muma Gee and co belong to old generation? 9ice and Desmond chose APC because of Aregberascal and Burdiilion master factors and not necessarily because of party ideologies. aresa: I see your point and I also don't think this lawless man is going to jail. Not because the IG is more powerful than the Nigerian judiciary or anything lie that but more because the head aka his boss and president is rotten and equally lawless.
We have a leadership vacuum and malady in Nigeria, the same vacuum that refused to fight corruption and even created the most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration in the history of Nigeria, the same most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration that manifested portioned and canibalized Nigeria with parts belonging to Nigerians and other parts to terrorists, the same most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration that looked the other way and went dancing after scores of Nigerians died in a bomb blast that occurred right under his nose and just a few miles from where he sleeps, the same most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration that not only refused to admit the fact that innocent school children were kidnapped and even sent his wife to the cameras to ridicule and embarrass the poor families of the missing girls, the same most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration that hires nothing but crooks and lawless individuals under EFCC investigation to head top government positions, the same most corrupt, lawless and incompetent administration...
Presidents and leaders in sane and lawful societies won't have public officials like this IG hanging around him, his resignation should have been demanded or fired right away, but he's still on the job and raising shoulders at the Nigerian judiciary and constitution because the head/his boss is not only lawless, the IG himself is operating based on the corrupt and lawless instructions from his lawless president.
The Afghan police chief resigned yesterday after a bomb blast, but not in lawless and zero accountability Nigeria, they get promoted and rewarded with National awards. Even our incompetent service chiefs were given national awards for job well done after losing our territory to terrorists and failing to protect Nigerians...
The IG is only reflecting our sad zero accountability environment, leadership failure, lawlessness and leadership vacuum.. How could someone waste his ample time in writing this rubbish? |

kITATITA: There is no order yet committing the IGP to prison. Nothing close to it yet from my layman understanding. The Speaker initiated a contempt of court process against the IGP through ex parte motion. The judge refused to agree with the ex parte motion and instead asked that the IGP be put on notice to put up an appearance to defend himself. He will only be committed to prison if he doesn't justify his action and if the court thinks he is deliberately flouting the order of a court. The IGP could use the instrumentality of the court to evade sanctions by filling spurious appeals against every ruling. But I can't see the IGP displaying the same arrogant posturing you saw at the House of Reps hearing. And no DPO or Policeman attached to the court will effect the arrest if it comes to that. They are ready to scale the windows and run to their village. The IGP is not going to prison. I can bet my salary on it. By the way, I'm not a lawyer. Only the court can. So OBJ used the court to achieve that.
