McLuhan: Your allegations could very well be true. I mean, they sound quite plausible in Jonathan's Nigeria. In fact, I have no doubt that corruption has reached its apogee under this current administration. But given Buhari's antecedents, I remain highly sceptical about the fate of our freedoms and our rights if power is entrusted to him. Surely you do understand my point. Therefore, I still insist that Jonathan and Buhari are not the best that Nigeria can offer. We are shortchanged if we have to choose between them. You and your cynical likes apparently have a new definition for corruption. It's amusing however that what you celebrate as corruption is just mere media propaganda orchestrated by APC and unrepentant GEJ haters. Can you explain to the world why you and other corruption jingoists have never deemed it necessary to initiate court proceeding against the so-called corrupt officials if there are evidences to substantiate their involvement in corruption? After all, GEJ has made it possible via FOI Act. Stop your wicked lies against fellow Nigerians. |

Adminisher: Please stop this trash!!!!. The SW has a problem with GEJ not his tribe. Also historically the Niger delta and SE have been the prostitutes to the north..go and read your history. GEJ is the problem, there is something about leadership and the Yoruba' s conception of it that is offended when you observe GEJ's style. Even his supporters amongst the Yorubas don't respect him, they say he is humble, translate that to mean stupid and willing to do stupid things to be a president without real power. I personally suspect the guy has 'down syndrome' and it is only when there is money to be made or some evil to perpetuate that the guy shows smarts. SW Nigeria does not like GEJ, pure and simple.
Geo politically speaking, when NPN Shehu Shagari' s gov t was in power all the votes they used to beat Awolowo always came from the SE/SS. At the PDP convention in Rivers an elder statesman was saying the same thing about the special relationship between the north and the SS/SE. Zik ganged up with Shagari against Awolowo during the second republic. Even during the June 12 elections, it was only in the east that Abiola did not gather much votes. As for Obj's handover, i said it somewhere that Odilli had already bought the entire north in preparation for the presidency before Obasanjo stopped it dead. After the amnesty, Yaradua personally was more popular with Niger delta militants than Buhari during their own elections. If there is any region closest to the North in Nigeria, it is the SS, SE.
People are just spreading falsehood because Jonathan is in power, is corrupt and incompetent and the SW does not like him. Of all the candidates that coukd have arisen from the north only Buhari is acceptable to the SW and this is because of credentials garnered during the Buhari/Idiagbin regime, we all saw that on display today at the APC convention. Please accept the fact that your simpleton president is not good enough and going down in 2015. Jonathan may not be "good enough" for you and your uncelebrated family, but he surely is for a large spectrum of Nigerian society. Stop your hate and embrace reality. GEJ TILL 2019. |

SaiBuharii: followed closely, the APC National convention through out the day, sharing my time between work and information I left work early (9pm) and went to the Teslim Balogun stadium to witness a major event in the history of Nigeria, one that decides our future. I spent sometime there, and after seeing with my eyes the family structured convention, where Fayemi was up and down to make sure, everything is on point for the major event,I zoomed off home. I realised an atmosphere of Democracy was prevailing in the environment, all contestants had banners and deir fans all over the place, I particularly recognized Okorochas pple everywhere, and I said to myself, here is another man giving the Igbos an opportunity to line up and vote for deir blood, and not being attached with the South or being deceived that PDP is an Igbo party when the President, vice president, Senate president, House of rep are not from their land. I got home, I decided to put on the tv and continue the follow up. And then I put it on AIT, I was surprised it was being aired, becasuse as known AIT is controlled by Jonathan through Dokpesi, NTA is a govt controlled station, likewise Stv, where the chairman just won a PDP ticket to contest for the sente. With my sleepy eyes I settled down to watch my assumed Apc convention. After 15 mins I noticed the leaking Umbrella on my Tv screen, and then it confirmed my AIT-PDP connection. It was at that point I realized PDP had their own national convention in Abuja same day, with APC, the only Agenda for the election was the selection of the president, then I appreciated what ApC was doing, giving us the previlege of feeling what political tension feels like, even for the Taniods, they are all ears praying Atiku wins the Ticket, it's still part of the feeling your part can't give you. Through out the day I did not see or hear it on radio, Tv, Twitter, Facebook, even our Nairaland that PDP have a convention, but multiple threads have been opened for the APC election. I remember in the days of Peter odilii-Obasanjo elections, (Odili stepped down) when you see the moderator counting the votes keep saying "Obasanjo, Obasanjo...after 50 Obasanjo's, then they sight a vote for another candidate, that was when PDP was relevant, but now they don't even make the news...Nigerians are tired of an autocratic system. Never in the history of PDP has there been a selection process in which all forms were withheld. If all parties did selection, what will we be discussing and throwing jabs at ourselves on? As Nigeria stays on a standby to vote for their candidate, I implore youh all to use your brains. Merci. Hypocrite. If what transpired at the APC "convention" was your own acceptable template for electioneering, then your level of political awareness is grossly tainted. Are you pretending not to see a clearcut selection of Buhari as the party's candidate going by the decision of their governors to support him on the eve of the so-called convention? Was it not governors who controlled the delegates? Stop your deceit my friend. If there is a party where deceit is near perfection, it's APC and they WILL NOT win 2015 presidential election. |

But, do you see agbaje occupying that seat while Tinubu is alive; talkless of having the balls to prosecute him?
I can only wonder. The people's revolt at the polls next year will be too hot for Tinubu to resist. He did everything humanly possible to win Ekiti for Fayemi but failed woefully. If not for the religious card that played out in Osun coupled with unpopularity of Omisore, APC would have also lost Osun. However, Agbaje's popularly and people's disenchantment with APC:s oppressive and imperialistic rule will swing the polls in favour of PDP next year. Tinubu has lost his cult figure in Lagos. |

For Uduaghan and Chime who are serving Governors to have stooped low and decided to forgo their Senatorial aspirations for the overall interest of their party speaks volume of PDP's maturity as a party. What do we have in APC? Kwankwaso will never step down for Buhari, Okorocha will never put the interest of his party far above his ambition, Atiku will battle other aspirants to standstill and they claim to be progressives and apostles of change. In his usual empty-barrel characteristic this man vowed to make Nigeria ungovernable if Abiola died in detention. Abiola indeed died but our saintly Prof could not do jack! No doubt, Soyinka is living in his past glory. Sowing seed of discord and pitching the masses against the authority while criticising any sitting govt is unbecoming of his personality. Why is he closing his eyes from the atrocity of a sitting speaker who brazenly stepped the law on the face by attempting to make the minority rule over the majority in the legislative House? Did Soyinka see any aberration in our lawmakers scaling the fence of the National Assembly in an apparent show of ignominy? Has the Prof ever criticised the opposition for the series of provocative and crisis-breeding statements emanating from their camps on daily basis? Is the Prof living in a different world by pretending not to see glaring imperialism and oppressions taking place in the opposition controlled States? When Oshiomole asked a widow "to go and die", was he in the country? When Fashola forcefully displaced the Makoko people from a place they had lived for more than 100 years with little or no compensation, was Soyinka dead at that time? When many opposition members were sent to their premature grave in Ekiti in the buildup to the guber election, did the Prof cry fowl? The world was too swift in giving Prof Soyinka a novel Laurette. |
