In your myopic view, assembling the stove would create how many jobs for how many skilled and unskilled workers? If the government has its thinking cap on, it would know that there are indigenous firms using the clean technology already, some were even supported by some Government agencies. Mr.too-know, I advise you save your disillusioned brain for national survey to establish number of Nigerians who stand to benefit from the project when it fully takes off. You can also hit National Bureau of Statistics as a shorter route.

Nonsense. Absolute bunkum. How many of your extended family members use cooking gas? If in the wisdom of this govt efforts are geared toward making life easier for rural women, how does that become a pain in your ass? And you said Nigerian women cannot afford a cup of garri, you are an incurable liar! Agreed there's poverty in the land, has it degenerated to the tinted picture you just painted? This stove project is laudable and should be commended.

I THINK THERE SEEMS TO BE A CERTAIN LEVEL OF IGNORANCE OR PERHAPS CONFUSION AS TO THE IMPLICATION OF A POLITICAL PARTY INVOLVED IN UNAUTHORIZED (BIOMETRIC)DATA CAPTURE OF CITIZENS.

The law clearly provides that only the National Population and its affiliate departments CAN ENGAGE IN the collection of fingerprints as a form of identity.

Now some of us understand that we have a lawless society where emotions rather than the law we all have subscribed to ends up as the order of the day.

FIRSTLY, APC a duly registered political party is very much on course having a data center, taking down details of its memebers etc. HOWEVER, IT VIOLATES THIS FREEDOM once its acquires DATA CAPTURE devices to even collect finger print details. BY COLLATING BIOMETRICS , IT NOW MOVES BEYOND MERE MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION TO a purely security terrian.

SECONDLY, The SSS has a security outfit has every legal right and is within its powers to investigate any body , political party, religious organization or individual and as such no one should cry foul and call that UNDEMOCRATIC. The ACTION of the SSS is in order and was done with minimal or no force at all.

THIRDLY, It would be important for the APC leadership to explain how biometric details enhances the integrity of data collection for its membership profile. Financial institutions , Educational institutions all have data centers or data management centers, Never has it been recorded that finger print details were required for even the most risky financial transactions. WE ALL KNOW THAT AN INDIVIDUAL SIGNATURE is often the length of authentication needed.

IN CONCLUSION, THIS OPPOSITION PARTY SHOULD EXPLAIN TO NIGERIANS whAT It intends to do with fingerprints WHICH , our Banks , schools dont need!!!

GUESS THATS THE STARTING POINT for this DISCUSS - not emotional , baseless outburst over a state organ performing its legal duties.

THANKS ALL

Your common sense reasoning is your opinion and your opinion belongs to you.

There is no law or any part of the Nigerian constitution mandating any private entity to post sign or board outside your house and it's absolutely not a crime under the Nigerian constitution.

People registering a million times is not a crime till they show up at the polling station to vote a million times.

Data belonging to private political parties is their business and property and not INEC's or official government property.

You and this rag tag agency should by now be highlighting crimes committed by the APC according to the laws and constitution of Nigeria.

People registering multiple times with private political parties is not a crime

Not displaying signs on private buildings is not a crime

I'm not sure if the reason why you people are playing dumb, ignorant and peddling grossly uneducated views is political, mental laziness and fatigue, it's just very obvious that you are not the best this Nation has to offer..

I had made up my mind not to reply your senseless posts again but it's important to do so for the sake of the masses. You said there is no part of our Constitution that compels organisations, be it business or non business (including political parties) to display names and objects of activities conspicuously. That's's a misrepresentation of facts! The CAC and other Allied Matters Acts mandates such signage and inscriptions to be displayed conspicuously and any contravention attracts severe penalties. Having deciphered your level of exposure and reasoning , this will be my last response to you on this thread.

Exactly yes, it's a mere Membership Register and has nothing to do with 2015 elections, because its INEC Voters Register that is used for elections. And law courts don't give a damn about a membership register of any party, because as a party, you may put what you like there. So if the membership strength of your party is 2 million and you put 20 million, that is your private problem. noon e cares.

Data centers by their nature are supposed to be as private as possible. They don't have any business with the public. Why would any organisation want everyone in Lagos to know that the whole data of it's organisation is in particular spot. It's different from party secretariats and offices which are meant for interaction with the public.

In your reasoning, Cyber crime (Yahoo yahoo) is the private business of the perpetrators since it's their "personal/private business". So, in line with that, APC as the main opposition party in Nigeria can operate an office without its signage or any inscription on display. Is that your pitiable reasoning? The future of Nigeria needs prayer.

To answer your question ...many schools!......

But did you read the APC statement where in they mentioned that no one showed them a court warrant and indeed surfaced after the search. I do not believe the SSS at all as they are now purely political . Recall they accused a politician of offering them money in the last Osun elections....offering bribe as I know is an offence. Why did they not arrest him if it was true. The same SSS set up a politician who tried to collect bribe money from Otedola.

They slaughtered innocent squatters in Abuja the other day and lied that they were Boko haram, they claimed they were shot at!

The SSS has expanded its work scope to include all other govt agencies and this is making them look very bad

bottom line i don't believe them and there is a moral and political side to it. The court warrant may have come after the fact or they should publish it.

What you say about APC being discreet about their office is a matter of choice. The data collation centre is not meant to be a public place, one of the requirements of data collation is being in a secure environment.....not open to unauthorised access. It is not Illegal for APC to be discreet about its data centre. If there is a provision of the electoral law or constitution against it let me know I will read it up and revert.

Would you arrest a man because he is wearing dark glasses on the streets and looks suspicioushuh?? or a man who moves at 3am should be automatically regarded as a thiefhuh?

The SSS is one of the last powerful and professional institutions we have left and it used to be the pride of our nation but they have been taken out by our politicians same with the army. If the police carried out this raid I would say ok because police has lost any capability of intelligence gathering and professionalism. They are the official tout and thug arm of PDP pas displayed at the national assembly last week

SSS should work with intelligence and I wait and watch as they have the burden of proof to show the nation that the Voters cards were being cloned.

Much as I agree with the fact that you are entitled to your opinion, what you believe or don't believe, it's logical to premise our submissions on indisputable facts. If you have already zeroed your mind not to believe the DSS on the search warrant they claimed to have been duly obtained before the raid, then your judgements are fraught with sentiments and remain untenable.
You talked about the said warrant not been shown to anybody. Remember neither Lai Mohammed nor any APC leaders were resident in that building for them to have sought for such. The 24 youths found in the office might have been availed the warrant. If APC wants to prove the veracity of DSS claims, the doors of Nigerian courts are wide open. After all, Tambuwwal approached the court for the reinstatement of his security apparatus and the case is subsisting.

With regards to Osun bribery allegation, I am old enough and a good student of Nigerian political history. The best decision DSS could take was to allow a sleeping dog lie. That event took place on the eve of the election, what do you think would have happened if a prominent official of Osun State Govt was hounded in jail on allegation of bribery? Even the detention of Lai Mohammed who incidentally was not an indigene of Osun was blown beyond proportion despite contravening election statutes by violating 6pm-8am curfew imposed on the state.

APC registration centre is not a secrete society and commonsense dictates that a signage or banner should have been conspicuously placed at a strategic place in that premises. If such had been done, the party would have been in a vantage position to vent anger at any intruders be it SSS or police. I rest my case.
Politics › Re: APC Office Raid: DSS Releases List Of Recovered Items by OLADD: 2:43pm On Nov 26, 2014
boladez:
Sir, I followed many of the electoral cases in the last election and I want you to go and consult a lawyer.....membership register in the law has nothing to do with electoral results and actual voting.

The State (in this case the FGN as the lawful tier of government) has the responsibility to ensure voters are registered and registered once. They are required to deploy the needed technology or process to make this happen and ensure one man gets to vote once. In 1993 ,when we did not have the current day technological capabilities, the government adopted option A4 to curb multiple registration and voting took place simultaneously nationwide and it was by physical counting of people.

Based on the foregoing if a party boasts of 300m members out of which 100m are doubles ....the INEC should ensure that the biodata captured screens out the 100m from going near the polling booths. Even if a party has 300m registered members there is a very slim possibility that all 300m will go and vote on election day.

My point is that membership of parties only stops at the threshold of bragging and campaigns. Hence membership list of a party has nothing to do with the outcome of votes / elections. Afterall ACN delivered Jonathan's presidency in the SW state except osun in 2011. Unfortunately Ribadu was used at that time. I think party registration is strictly an internal affair and all the SSS has said is consistent with party membership registration.

I disagree with your so called Ghost voters because I am one of them and i know about 100 other people in my pressure group who voted at the last elections and we suddenly could not find our names on the register and our cards consequently. Strangely we were all Buhari supporters. I am suspecting that some of us may have been deliberately disenfranchised but it is still a suspicion. However I am really worried that SSS has developed interest in APC membership list. We will see the drama unfold and see where it will take us.

I used to respect the SSS as an agency that stood out but unfortunately politicians have killed them. There is something called intelligence gathering and infiltration.......why have they put these in the back burner and now use brute force?....in the past SSS was faceless but effective even as NSO....now they have seen the benefit in politics and joined the band wagon.

This democracy as we have it offers no hope but a bleak future.

Friend, I am not in any way holding brief for DSS but my posts were centred entirely on facts in the public gare. Remember that the DSS did not set out to raid APC's registration centre since there was nothing suggesting the office belonged to the party. Lai Mohammed has not come out to counter the DSS on the absence of any inscription or signage indicating the office was theirs. So the security outfit acted based on petition and suspicion of clandestine and secretive activities taking place there. Their findings thereafter only revealed APC's connectivity and it's wrong for the party to blame DSS for the raid, after all, a search warrant was obtained to that effect.
Still referring to Osun State election, APC tried and still trying to garner public sympathy by referring to the number of people in their register as a pointer to their supremacy in Osun in terms of popularity and acceptability. If that election had gone against them, I can tell you that Osun would have been consumed in inferno. Juxtaposing that with this DSS discovery, what do you think APC will do if the number of people that vote for them in Lagos fall short of the number of registrants in their over bloated "register"? I can tell you it's chaos and that's one of the calls for concern. Elections in Lagos has never been free and fair and I am sure you know that.

Prikie, I have said to you before to stop parading your family history here! Only you......... busstop, Rape , mad men, weed, mad pikin.....clearly poverty and illness has ravaged what is left of your mind.

We are discussing the legality of the DSS raid and I dare you to make one intellectual sentence....just one sir.

If you can, I will go and join PDP!

Which educational institution did you pass through? If the DSS press release were to be an exam comprehension, is that how you will fail woefully? Did you read part of that DSS statement where it's clearly stated that court warrant was obtained before the search? Did you also read the part that says no inscription or signage of APC was conspicuously placed at the entrance of the office at the time of the raid? Why was APC discreet about the office if lawful activities were actually taking place there? It's even a criminal offence for an office or a premises to be designated as party property without signage or any other evidence of such. What further legality were you pontificating?

Yet another brainless post.

Once again, Nigerians are not saints. So the data verification and electronic archiving process that the data centre was doing would eliminate a whole lot of those.
Even if the data was not fully reconciled, this is of little concern to Nigerians. The data being processed is just APC's internal membership data and has little bearing on whatever is used for elections next year.

It really is unfortunate that such a simple explanation seems to sail above your head.

As someone said earlier, why should I bother about whatever method TAN used to arrive at their membership number of 16 million people when it should play no part at all in any elections?

Oh you called the register a mere internal document of APC which does not have connection with 2015 elections? You are wrong. Have you forgotten how Aregbesola and Osun State chapter of APC boasted of their membership register which they used and are still using as evidence of their popularity and electoral success in the last elections? Do people of Osun need to begin to question such register? Is that themembership register APC is arming itself with to accept or reject outcome of 2015 election? Is that why INEC discovered ghost voters of about 1.5 million voters in Lagos State register?

It is in the bible that if an individual punishes his own dog for insignificant reasons, HE, God is offended. Much more giving it a bad name in order to hit him. Which corruption is escalating? The glaring one you will point out is that of the various Sanusi figures of central bank. Let me not even mention the time of Obasanjo since he served 12 years without one single thing to point at other than mainly crippling the Nigerian economy. How would you describe IBB, Atiku, Thiefnu.bu etc. The north east brought boko haram, deliberatly killing their own people and blame it on GEj. You fabricate all sorts of names including Sanusi's figures. What have you people not done to tarnish the personality of GEJ. But note it today that if you like, continue to give bad names, that dog will not be stopped. GEJ till 2019.

Good and reasonable talk.

Lawd! Where do I start with this Idiat?

Tell me, when exactly did you become stwepid? Ehn? How many cases of those multiple registration was reported? And what do you think the job of those entering the data is?

I am 100% sure you directed those insane tirades to your parents and entire generation. Ask the people that gave birth to you to make further clarifications from Jega and INEC.

Pls kindly provide a link showing a court proceeding of people prosecuted by INEC for multiple registration? If you can't, just go home pour some gammalin in some cold cup of water and do the world a favor.

The data center was setup across the country to eliminate such instances of multiple entry, provide a reachable and detailed membership list of members and them produce ID cards for its members.

This is a clear case, I'm registering people that likes me why is it your headache if someone clicks like 20times.

if you didn't use your brains to trade for food you would have use it now to reason objectively

Did you just come back from the dead? So you are telling Nigerians that there was no press release from INEC where Jega informed the nation of ongoing prosecution of multiple registrants? If you are in doubt, why not google it for confirmation before coming out to misinform nairalanders?
And in addition, from which register did Lai Mohammed claim that millions of Nigerians had register with APC? From over bloated and overloaded register riddled with a person that registered 18 times with the same picture? Is your own life also characterised with such criminality?

Dude, do you know the world beyond Nigeria? Where have you seen this sort of behaviour from police/security forces? Is it not normal for security agencies to establish conclusively that a criminal act has occurred and then prosecute offenders before publicly releasing sensitive information that may prejudice and sabotage any future attempt to bring offenders to justice? The conduct of the DSS discredits the ethos of sincere crime-fighting as we all know it to be practised worldwide and appears merely a smear campaign against the opposition with the clear and unacceptable breach of investigative protocol the DSS is guilty of. Think things through for a minute and tell me if it is normal for a security agency to announce mischievously and suggestively that "someone's picture was used over 15 times" when we are then not told of a specific crime or any corresponding formal criminal charges? Is this not the same as the spokesperson of the DSS (Ms. Ogar) showing clear bias by claiming, without any corroborating or conclusive investigative proof whatsoever, that bombings followed each time the APC had an election? Is this not similar to the PDP, through mouthpieces like Metuh, ridiculously and childishly insinuating that the APC are sponsors of terror yet the ruling Party and C-in-C cannot bring these known sponsors to justice and prefer they continue killing Nigerians?

You should be worried about the institutional bankruptcy GEJ is entrenching as part of Nigerian life that will take decades to reverse. We all saw the likes of IBB wantonly legitimise corruption to the extent Nigeria is still struggling with that legacy till date. The likes of Odili assisted the birth of militancy and that menace has now come to stay. Likewise the deadly nuisance of Boko Haram that political desperation helped grow massively into a hydra-headed monster. Now we are in a new age where it is virtually legal to openly bastardize and compromise Nigerian armed/security forces (police, Army, DSS et al) to then use them as pawns in a political power struggle. Sad development.

I am deeply disappointed with the kind of personality you are. Are you blaming law enforcement agents for carrying out their lawful responsibilities? Was it not explicitly stated in the release that DSS obtained warrant for the search. If the activities of APC were not clandestine, why did they not place an inscription or signage indicating the premises or office indeed belonged to them? Why? Since the party leaders had been pestering DSS to release any incriminating evidence to the public, is is not reasonable for the secrete service to avail the public of the findings of multiple registration for record purpose?. Wait for more possible revelations before justifying APC.

A lie from the pit of hell
There are primary and secondary responsiblity of government, security is a core function. Of wat use is good road if there are no living everyone persons to pass them. I am a southern and nt bias in my argument infact I knw d president is good man and means well for the country but he lacks the ability to deliver. Its nt hw gard u wrk but hw smart. The only sector I agree significant achievement is the roads. We hv better roads other than dat nothin else. All other sector of the economy are worse. Wat kind of persons comes on national tv and says corruption is being exergerated. From the health to agric there isnt any improvement. All our people go to india for surgery. My broda I can go on and on. This country is worse of from coruption to insecurity to power to ur national debt and reserve. Even dollar rate sef.

You said the spate of revolution taking place in the agric sector is a ruse? Are you really sincere with yourself or you are just been unneccessarily or habitually hateful? Yes, its the primary responsibility of the CIC to provide security, are you positing that Jonathan should carry AK47 and form an omnipresent personality to be in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno at the same time? Do you want the president to sack all military personnel (both junior and seniors) and replace them with ghosts or import new recruits from Ghana? Do you realise that the military is controlled by the north from time immemorial and that suggests why they are grossly compromised and reluctant to bring down Boko haram? I won't bother to join issues with you again, but take it or leave it, Jonathan is a performing president and he will rule Nigeria till 2019. I rest my case.
