According to Lai Mohammed, BBOG is now an "opposition party". Kai, Oby Ezekwesili has really suffered.
PoliticsNigerian Govt Rejects BringBackOurGirl’s ‘Impudent’ Language by OLADD(op):
The Federal Government has urged the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group to see government as a partner rather than adversary in the quest to secure the release of the Chibok girls.

In a statement in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the BBOG’s continued portrayal of the government as an adversary and the needless firing of darts at President Muhammadu Buhari, were ultimately counter-productive.

Mr. Mohammed said the president was doing his utmost best to bring the girls back home safely.

“The Federal Government has bent over backwards to carry the BBOG along and to show transparency in the conduct of the search for the girls,” he said.

“The recent invitation extended to the group to witness first-hand the search for the girls by the Nigerian Air Force is a clear indication of this.“However, it came to us as a surprise that in spite of its initial positive report on the tour, the BBOG has too quickly reverted to its adversarial role.

“BBOG should stick to its role as an advocacy group rather than pretending to be an opposition party. “The synonyms of the word ‘advocacy’ do not include ‘antagonism’, ‘opposition’ or ‘attack’, in fact those words are the antonyms of ‘advocacy,’’’ he said.

The minister said it amounted to needless grandstanding for the BBOG to say it would no longer tolerate “delays’’ and “excuses” from the president on the release of the girls, as reported by the media.

According to him, such “impudent’’ language should have been reserved for those who did nothing in the first 500 days of the girls’ abduction, and not for Mr. Buhari.

Mr. Mohammed said President Buhari has presided over the liberation of all captured territory, the opening of shut schools and roads, the safe release of some of the abducted girls and the decimation of Boko Haram.

He assured Nigerians that the efforts to bring the girls back safely were continuing, but sought their understanding for not divulging any further details so as not to jeopardise the intricate process.

“Let me say unequivocally that the people involved in the negotiations are working 24/7. “The negotiations are complicated, tortuous and delicate.

Any wrong signal is capable of derailing things. That’s why the less we say, the better for all.

“We need a huge amount of confidence-building, the kind of which led to the release of 21 of the girls. This has been lacking for years, but right now we are confident that we are on the right track.

“We won’t do anything to jeopardise these talks, irrespective of the pressure or provocation from any quarter,” the minister said. (NAN)

Foreign AffairsRe: CNN Barred From Covering Trump's Inauguration Ceremony by OLADD:

I just have this feeling that Trump and Buhari belong to the same Society. They think and behave the same way.

Like AIT, LIKE CNN.
That's not true. It was obvious that CNN was biased pre and post the US elections. Their choice of words, news lines and selective interviews (with in-house correspondents and political analysts), were too hostile to Trump's presidency. Even the election polls were carefully crafted to aid Hilary Clinton's electoral success.

On the other hand, AIT despite been accused of spreading "hate speech" against Buhari, still gave a level playing ground to both PDP and APC.

Imagine CNN giving Donald Trump a 49% approval rating few days to his oath of office. CNN is just disgusting.

That said, I think Donald Trump shouldn't have banned them outright.

It is only right for the presidents media team to clarify the falsehood Deji and his fellow hate filled wailers are spreading all over social media since some people truly believed he was snubbed for Jonathan.

Americans can never invite a corrupt scumbag like Jonathan to their presidential inauguration. It would have been a crass endorsement of corruption.
The presidency deems it necessary to refute Deji's tweet very swiftly but takes ages to react to other pressing national issues such as herdsmen killings. You guys are just pathetic.

Besides, as of today, no court in Nigeria has convicted Jonathan for corruption. So, direct your tirade to Buhari under whom N270m was spent in cutting grass.

i understand but the challenge here is that, this decision was taken almost 2 years ago and it cant be reversed until another two years. Nigerians must brace themselves for more challenges, because he is getting older and the frequency of his medical visits will increase with age. after this Nigerians will learn that you don't cut off the head to spite your face. he wasnt the solution to Nigerias myriads of problem and complexity. His spirit may be willing but his flesh is definately weak. Even young men like Fashola and Obama became completely grey haired within 8 years due to the heavy toll of duty. Nigeria is not for the frail.
That's exactly the crux of my post. Nobody is inciting the nation to cry over spilled milk but a wakeup call for all of us to access issues critically before criticizing people for their opinion.

Many took Fayose's opinion as hate speech rather than the truth it tried to establish.

That's true but the nation suffers and pays for it. Critical and prompt decision making are often impaired by any President's ill-health.

Do you know why the president has not been able to react swiftly to national issues including visiting disaster venues? It's probably due to his health.

PoliticsBuhari's Incessant Breaks/Medical Trips: Fayose And Others Are Now Vindicated by OLADD(op):
In the heat of campaigns toward the 2015 elections, one of the people that took flaks for placing emphasis on Buhari's age, health and fragility was Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State. Fayose in his ever blunt mannerism drew the attention of fellow citizens to the danger involved in electing a septuagenarian Buhari as the Commander In Chief of the most populous black nation on earth. In one of Obasanjo's numerous interviews, he critically highlighted the rigours involved in administering a nation as big as Nigeria. Obasanjo made an exposé of how he had to hold official and party related meetings into the wee hours of the night, sometimes as late as 1.00am and still found his way to the office by 10.00am the next morning! That's how cumbersome and energy sapping the presidency can be. Without holding brief for Fayose, it's now evident that the rigour of office has started taking a negative toll on our President's health going by the spate of breaks he had embarked upon less that two years into his tenure.

http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/04/i-am-not-abusing-buhari-he-is-too-old-to-rule-nigeria-fayose/

At this juncture, it's not completely out of place to infer that the President's age and presumed failing health are responsible for slow response to pressing national issues. One often wonders why it sometimes takes ages for the president to issue prompt statements or perhaps appear on national screens to address the citizens on matters arising.

Sentiment aside, no human being is immune from sickness but those who condemned Fayose for speaking the truth about Buhari's age and health in the buildup to the 2015 elections need to do some restitution.

God Bless Our Nigeria

OP, stop bothering us with unnecessary epistle. Friendly fire and accidental bombings are common incidents all over the world but Lai Mohammed, Buhari, Tinubu, Fashola, El Rufai, Ameachi and the entire APC heirachy did not think of this when they used similar mistakes to ridicule PDP and Jonathan's govt. They even went to the extent of mocking the same military at every slight occasion. Don't go too crazy when your team beats an opponent 5-0 because you might be whipped by the same team 8-0 in the subsequent season.

I have a strong feeling that something is not just right with your thinking faculties. It's either you're programmed to act like a robot or simply lacks commonsense.

Can you tell Nairalanders the deference between a govt that "shared money", yet the masses could afford to buy beans, rice, kerosene etc at ease and the one that "fights corruption" and "plugs leakages" but brings untold hardship on the citizenry.

No amount of your propaganda can wash Buhari from his spots of bigotry, selective justice, deceit, cruelty and tribalism. All his past and present evils would continue to trail his steps now and in the future. Buhari is simply evil.

OP, life has taught me that power only comes from God and not from man. Buhari was destined to become president in 2015, not necessarily because of "packaging" from the likes of Tinubu, Fayemi, Ameachi, Obama and co., but simply because Heaven had chosen him to lead the country. So, if Buhari and his "packagers" think NPOWER and some muchroom tokenism can make him the president in 2019( if he chooses to contest), a great shocker awaits them. Idi Amin also did one or two "good" things in Uganda.

PoliticsWike Tongue-lashes IGP Panel On Rivers Rerun by OLADD(op):
Rivers state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has berated the Nigerian Police Special Joint Investigation Panel on the Rivers rerun legislative elections. The governor stated that the committee was established by the Inspector-General of Police with the aim of assisting the All Progressives Congress(APC) at the election tribunal. He made the pronouncement while receiving the committee members at the Government House, Port Harcourt earlier today, January 11.He told the committee that his government has since challenged the setting up of the panel in court, with the chairman of the panel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Damian Okoro as one of the defendants.

He also notified them that the people of the state will not participate in the activities of the panel since the matter was already in court. The governor said:"I must tell you with all honesty that my people and I will not participate in the sitting of this panel. We have challenged the setting up of this panel in court."Let there be a judicial pronouncement on this matter. It will enrich our jurisprudence. This panel has not shown us that it will not be biased."All these activities are orchestrated so that APC will use the materials therefrom at the Tribunal ."Even you as the chairman of the panel cannot say from your conscience that you are not biased."The governor berated the Police High Command cover-up of the video evidence that showed the invasion of Rivers East Senatorial District Collation by an officer, Akin Fakorede and his SARS personnel.

He also wondered why the police has refused to make public how DSP Alkali was killed, simply because the person indicted was a commissioner under the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. His words:"The same Akin Fakorede who was caught on video after he invaded the Rivers East Senatorial is the one who is arranging witnesses for the panel set up by the Inspector-General of Police. "Nobody is investigating the case of Rivers APC printing fake result sheets which the police is trying to sweep under the carpet "He continued:"We believe that the Panel has already taken a decision. We are convinced that the essence of the panel is to witch-hunt our people and we have evidence to show. We cannot because of one man's interest, destroy the state."Already, you have dismissed policemen attached to me without even hearing from me. This is the same panel that claims it is investigating the conduct of all policemen during the rerun legislative elections."

Earlier, Chairman of the Nigerian Police Special Joint Investigation Panel on Rivers Rerun, Mr Damian Okoro said that the panel was in the state to interface with the governor on what transpired before, during and after the rerun elections. He added that the panel will also examine the role of security personnel during the rerun legislative elections.

Ghana's new president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has begun his tenure on quite an embarrassing note after being fingered in plagiarising his inaugural speech. The president who gave the speech on Saturday, January 7, 2017, appears to have picked quotes from the inaugural speeches of former US presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush in 1993 and 2001, respectively without giving intellectual credit. Akufo-Addo, 72, was sworn in alongside his Vice-President, Mahamudu Bawumia, at the Independence Square in Accra, the Ghanaian capital. The Ghanaian president first lifted a portion of Bush’s January 20, 2001 speech where he said:“I ask you to be citizens: citizens, not spectators; citizens, not subjects; responsible citizens building communities of service and a nation of character.” Similarly, he also used quotes from Clinton’s speech delivered on January, 20, 1993, where he said:“Though our challenges are fearsome, so are our strengths. Americans have ever been a restless, questing, hopeful people. And we must bring to our task today the vision and will of those who came before us. ”The similarity of the two speeches was brought to the attention of the public by an NDC activist, Stephen Kwabena Attuah on Facebook after the president’s inaugural address. Meanwhile, the Director Of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has apologized for what he calls a complete oversight in the inaugural speech of President Akuffo-Addo. He said:"My attention has been drawn to references being made to a statement in the speech delivered by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at his swearing in on Saturday, January 7, 2017, which was not duly acknowledged. I unreservedly apologise for the non-acknowledgement of this quote to the original author. It was a complete oversight, and never deliberate. It is insightful to note that in the same speech were quotes from J.B Danquah, Dr. K.A. Busia, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Bible which were all duly attributed and acknowledged. Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari about five months ago apologised for plagiarizing President Barack Obama’s 2008 inaugural speech. Buhari had been accused of plagiarism following similarities between his speech and President Barrack Obama of United States speech. He blamed it on a media aide, saying he will be punished.
