But toes are of different sizes. I guess Amaechi, Fashola Kwankwasso and other APC stalwart's toes are bigger than those of Deziani, Dokpesi, Dasuki and other opposition elements. Hypocrisy at its best. |
Orjioorji:You're right. Our media has now been hijacked by greedy and unprofessional practitioners. |
drss:His sentiments and discrimination seem to have taken a higher proportion. |
Love Machine:That's my greatest concern. Nigeria's main problem is not corruption but deception by political elites including those who parade themselves as men of integrity and the height our leaders can go just to hijack power. |
The ongoing $2.1billion Arms Procurement probe and its accompanying prosecutions have opened up the space for critical appraisal of our values, antecedents and pedigrees both as a nation and as individual citizens. During Wednesday interactive meeting and dinner held with members of the House of Representatives, the President was reported to have bemoaned and condemned Jonathan's adminstration for abuse of public trust in the purchase of military arms and equipment needed for the fight against insurgency. While blaming or criticising previous administration by a sitting govt is not new to our political landscape, questions must be asked on Buhari's moral justification in raising dust or querying Jonathan's shortcomings (if any) in his fight against Boko Haram. In all ramifications, Buhari has little or no grandstanding to accuse Jonathan or his officials for the prolonged insurgency war and the deaths recorded therefrom judging from his (Buhari's) support for the sect in the past. 1. At a time when Boko haram agitation was taking a volatile dimension, the president as a private citizen and prominent Northern leader roundly condemned Jonathan's govt for killing Boko haram members. He specifically said the fight against Boko haram was a fight against the north. It was such stance and arm twisting that forced Jonathan to sack Ihejirika, a onetime Army Chief who was seen as anti-north by Buhari and other northern elders. The question now arises, why is Buhari as a sitting president now turning around to premise lost of lives on arms procurement scandal and abuse of trust as against how he (Buhari) frustrated the fight in the past? 2. As a private citizen, why didn't he raise objection to the calls by prominent northern groups and individuals who openly asked Jonathan to remove soldiers from the north while Boko haram was still ravaging the region? 3. Why didn't Buhari criticize his party (the APC) when they opposed the proclamation of Bokoharam as a terrorist organisation? 4. Is Buhari now seeking an escape route for his inability to end Boko haram attack and rescue the Chibok girls as he promised? We all support the fight against corruption in Nigeria but Buhari should stop using Jonathan's shortcomings as an excuse for the failure of his govt. The complicity of northern leaders (including the president) in the war against insurgency is the reason for inability of previous administration to end the carnage before the expiration of its tenure and not the escapist excuses been brandied by Buhari and his govt. |

As an addendum, APC praise singers should not misconstrue this piece as a dress-down of Buhari's misfiring adminstration but a careful advise for aspiring political office seekers to always watch their steps and utterances on national issues. Buhari is deploring every available means to cover up his track by using Jonathan's adminstration as an escape route. This must be resisted and thumped down by patriotic Nigerians. |
Goke7:Same old tune. What gave you the impression that all online commentators are sponsored? |
chocolateme:Yes, truly ok |
erunz:Many thanks. |

TimeManager:May your conscience (if you have any) judge you accordingly. |
Ioannes:Why do you APC jingoists indulge in so much deceit while defending the party or its mischievous leaders? Was there any day Jonathan's govt was accused of inflating project contracts or has there been any revelation of contract inflation in the ongoing comedic probes Buhari is engaging in? On the contrary, Fashola and Kwankwasso were the ones accused of over-invoicing of contracts in Lagos and Kano respectively. Let's call a spade by its name, APC used name-calling and hoax to gain power and it will hunt them forever. Stop defending evil. |
koladebrainiac:You seemed to have misunderstood me. The whole essence of my post was to highlight the apparent deceitful vices in APC and its leadership and not to exonerate the past administration from any blame. All the rots the PDP had been accused of are also prevalent in APC and sometimes, in higher magnitude. I detest people who pretend to be who they are not. |
naijanaso:Well said. You're so on point. |
Rad1cal:Thank you. |
doctokwus:I would have completely ignored your fables but for the sake of sensible Nairalanders, I would advise you to pick your phone and google the road and other projects initiated and completed by Jonathan's administration and report back to us(Nairaland) if you can't find any. However, this tread is not meant for Jonathan or PDP image laundering but to expose the lying and sweet tongues of our politicians. It cut across all political divide. |
Boscojugunu:Obviously my post does not suggest I am dull. Moreover, common sense dictates that you don't continue with a project you had hitherto labelled as a WASTE. Fashola and APC summed up PDP govt as a failure. Politicians and people like you need to give honour to whom its due. OK? |
Abugab:Friend, firstly, my post was not intended to campaign for any political party. Secondly, we all agree with the fact that government is a continuum and that emphasizes why PDP had to cope with the rots inherited from the prolonged military rules in 1999 without raising dust or engaging in name calling as APC often do. However, please google the many statements issued by APC as a party and individually by many of their members including Fashola before and after the last elections. They all collectively asserted and chorused the complete failure of Jonathan and PDP's 16-year rule. |
To many discerning minds and keen watchers of Nigerian politics, unfolding events in Buhari's six-month presidency have further accentuated the pertinent need to subject our politicians to detailed scrutiny before entrusting them with machineries of government. In advanced democracies, aspiring politicians and public office seekers are subjected to strict and detailed personal pedigree assessment as a prerequisite for leadership and political appointments. However, in Nigeria's case, emphasis is mostly placed on politicians' power of eloquence, oration and ability to convince audiences with unending promises(no matter how unrealistic and unattainable they are). This brings our minds back to the numerous aspersions cast on the PDP led Federal Govt under former President Jonathan and derogatory statements made by prominent APC stalwarts including Fashola in the rundown to 2015 elections. The former Lagos State henchman was recorded at many fora labelling Jonathan's 6-year administration as a sublime waste. For him and other APC leaders, nothing was worthy of been mentioned as a positive achievement in the last four years. However, during Fashola's maiden ministerial briefing while unveiling his 2016 Power and Works roadmap, listed amongst his targets for 2016 fiscal year were the following; 1. Continuation of ongoing Road Constructions nationwide. No new project will be embarked upon in 2016. 2. Continuation of the previous govt Power privatisation programmes. 3. Reintroduction of Toll Gates nationwide. Now, let's have a deep reasoning and dissect above Fashola cum APC tripod targets. a. If indeed Jonathan and PDP's six-year rule was a monumental failure as Fashola and APC made us to believe, who initiated the road projects he and his party now wants to complete in 2016? Why can't APC lunch new nationwide road network initiative other than tapping on existing framework? b. Nigerians expect Buhari's adminstration to introduce a clearcut new policy on Power reform going by how they tagged PDP's power reforms as a fraud. Why is Fashola towing the privatisation line of the govt they once utterly rubbished? We were also given the impression that power projects were solely awarded to Jonathan's cronies and PDP financiers, why is it now a herculean task for Fashola and Buhari to revoke those contracts and start on a 'clean slate'? c. The last administration was accused of impoverishing Nigerians through white elephant projects, will the proposed introduction of Toll Fees do otherwise? Are there no other revenue generating mechanisms Fashola and APC can adopt without draining the pockets of hapless citizens? Conclusion: This piece was not intended to project or condemn the image of any political party but an exposition of our politicians subtle and deceitful manipulations while seeking elective and appointive offices. We all have a lot to learn as 2019 approaches. |
themilanway:I didn't realise I was conversing with a fool. All I need is just one rational thinking viewer and my job is done. Take a peep into my previous topics and posts and draw your conclusions from there. I don't need appraisal from your entire household neither can your entire family prevent me from expressing personal view on national issues but if you feel pained, in the words of Oshiomole-go and die. |
Mr President, no sir. APC was formed to hijack power back to a particular region of the country. It was formed by angry politicians who felt they were been denied the national cake. APC was formed by disenchanted PDP decampees who wanted power by all means. It was formed by those who wanted to be Senate President, Vice President and Executive President by hook or crook. APC was never formed for the interest of ordinary Nigerians. Period. |
themilanway:Your brain is still programmed for the analogue age. Who told the idiot like you that I am seeking attention. Nairaland is not a platform for attention seeking but public enlightenment. My post was not meant for blockheads like you but those whose reasoning ability is not impaired. I don't hate Buhari but I detest the mischiefs and hypocrisy in his govt. Save your rants. |
themilanway:You think this rant will reposition your lack of intuitive reasoning or perhaps move me a bit? Stop joking dude. |
dammytosh:We all know the intent of the NA on the Social Media Bill but our concern should be on the seeming prank been played to Nigerians by the Presidency judging from the ambiguities noted in its press release. |
After carefully going through the press release from the presidency with regards to the proposed Social Media bill, I was left with no option but to arrive at the following conclusions: 1. Buhari had to issue the statement rejecting the Social Media Bill just to shod up his fast fading public image. The fact that the President's performance rating is plummeting day-by-day is incontrovertible. 2. He never wholeheartedly intended to dissociate his govt from the bill going by many ambiguities observed in the statement. In one vein Buhari says he would not align with the National Assembly decision, while in another, the president says he would not be averse to any regulation that supports same. That's pure mischief. 3. Buhari used the opportunity to hit back at the Senate (Dino Melaye and Saraki to be precise) for ridiculing him with the TSA/REMITA fraud alarm. The presidency used the opportunity thrown up by the Social Media Bill as a payback to the duo for daring to splash mud on Buhari's highly trumpeted integrity garment. Simple. |

Levinelsonbob:The 2015 election conducted by Jega was one of the worst in the history of Nigeria but we all pretended as if nothing was wrong with it simply because many clamoured for a change of government. With the so-called card reader malfunctioning in most part of the country with the exception of some Northern States where Buhari got the largest chunk of his votes, less than 40% eligible voters receiving PVCs in the South and finally with an unconfirmed sizeable number of PVCs undelivered (from China) before the commencement of the polls, the exercise should have been outrightly cancelled. We should all thank Jonathan for been magnanimous to relinquish power despite Jega's glaring partisanship, compromise and connivance with APC. Anyway, that's the will of God and Nigeria has 'moved on'. |
Levinelsonbob: |
A chameleon, indecisive and ambiguous statement. In one vein the govt "is not averse to legal legislation" and in another, they "won't muzzle free speech" While trying to curry public acceptance by dissociating itself from the Senate decision, the govt is also carefully embarking on subtle and tactical support through any legal legislation made by the same Legislature. Buhari and his aids have really mastered the act of tricking gullible citizens. |
dunkem21:What about the "missing $20billion NNPC money"? Why has it not been discovered in almost 6 months? Sanusi deserves 200 lashes in a Sharia Court. |
Nigerians should go on their kneels and pray against the dark days of 1984/1985. In a desperate move to turn Nigeria into one-party State, Buhari, APC and their baby (INEC) had conducted two successive inconclusive elections in the spate of one month in two of the nation's smallest states. This is sad for our democracy. Nigerians Beware!!! |
