Hypocrites. When GEJ made a statement immediately after the October 1 bombings, you all shout him down as someone who doesnt think before talking, he shouldnt have said what he said, he should have kept quiet. Now, he has kept quiet, and the opposite is now the yabbis, he should have said something. Anyway, this is NairaLand, opinions dont matter, because well meaning Nigerians and those who wish Nigeria well dont come here.
Your not thinking.Because he made a dumb comment, which it was, doesn't in anyway mean that as a president he has no obligation to address the nation on national broadcast in a time of chaos. Does this mean he can talk any how he wants? No! He should always be professional in all that he does being that he is the highest man in the land(s).

and if he does so, you people will shout him down saying he shouldn't have said so.
No matter, whether they shout him down or not, he as a president, is suppose to have a national broadcast during a time like this to at least bring comfort to the minds of the citizens.

OBJ came out of Prison with little political contact, so Atiku was crucial in the scheme of things and shaping of Government policies from 199 - 2005. It was when OBJ started running for 3rd term that they fell out.

I am also not suprised when I see a Yoruba man criticise the PDP and try to undermine zoning. You guys want to eat your cake and have, that is the simple truth. There is nothing special about ACN, PDP simply don't look attractive to you because you have already had your turn under OBJ and simply do not want to wait for your turn in the next 40years. I understand that.

But trust me if Atiku emerges the PDP flagbearer on January 13, the party will go from strength to strength.
Was OBJ a president to yorubas or to nigeria and it he was a president to yorubas what did he do for the yorubas? With the ACN spreading throughout the SW what makes you think the yorubas need PDP in anyway?lol. Fashola can get put up for presidency any day and under ACN. Use your brain. Im hope the Enugu and Anambra state endorsement is not true.I even read that there were only three participants in that meeting. Both Imo, Abia(questionable though), Ebony are in support for GJ, it would be dumb for Enugu and Anambra to split the votes and make the SE remain the laughing stock politically. PDP is falling apart and youre still thinking about your igbo presidency under PDP? Look brother, middlebelt states, northern state, southern states have endorsed jonathan.Get with the program. You finally get the chance to break away from your oppressor and now instead of taking the gift, you want to get on your knees and open your mouth to Atiku.C'mon son!

Have you pause for a moment and posit why the colonial powers tend to support junks from northern parts as against the southern parts in all the major conflicts in Africa. I think south/north divide will be suitable for Ivory Coast now since the iniquities of civil war are still at rest.
Thank you and may God bless you wholesomely. You've said it all.

who says?

The same comment Atiku is making right now, he made at Dan Anyiam stadium in 2003. We have waited for our turn for so long, we are just one term away from achieving it and folks like Andrew Uweh and Ralph Uwechue want us to throw it away.

Who sourced folks like Soludo, Iweala, El-Rufai, Ribadu into the Presidency? Atiku did. This was why he was head of the economic team before he fell out with OBJ. Atiku is the one person who deserves to be given a chance to take us out of the woods. I prefer him anytime anyday.
Sorry to giving Atiku credit for what OBJ did. You igbos better open your eyes and smell the coffee.PDP is dying and even if you do get presidential candidacy under PDP who says anybody is going to vote for you? lol. Who says PDP is even going to still be the ruling party after 2yrs time? I beg go sit down jor.

BOMB BLAST: Al Jazeera Out to destabilse Nigeria – Presidency.

Headlines Jan 1, 2011

By Kingsley Omonobi

The presidency reacted angrily to a foreign media report that President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed Friday’s bombing at the Mogadishu barracks on the Islamic Sect, Boko Haram saying he couldn’t have said so since security agencies have not pin pointed any group as investigations was still on going.

It described the report as an outright lie aimed at destabilizing Nigeria.

A statement signed by Ima Niboro, Special adviser to President Jonathan on Media and Publicity titled Al Jazeera Correspondent is out to destabilize Nigeria reads, “Our attention has been drawn to the unfounded and sensational news item on Al Jazeera television claiming that Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has blamed the fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, for the bomb blast which occurred in Abuja yesterday”.

“This is an outright lie. Nowhere, and at no time has the President held any particular group responsible for the attack. Additionally, neither the Nigerian security services nor the Nigerian government have confirmed those behind the attacks”.

“It amounts to sheer sensationalism to attribute to the president or the federal government any such claim. It is irresponsible journalism and we condemn it out rightly”.

“The statement from the president’s media office was clear when it said that evil people determined to turn the joys of fellow Nigerians to
ashes detonated a bomb at a barracks market in the Federal Capital
City.”

It noted that “If we meant Boko Haram, or any other group, we would state it very clearly. But Al Jazeera’s unique journalism in Nigeria is not
strange to us. When the tragedy of the October 1, 2010, bomb blasts
occurred, they went to town with outlandish claims against the presidency that were unfounded and unsubstantiated”.

“This brand of journalism defies reason. For the purpose of clarity, neither the President nor the security agencies have come out to state those behind the attacks. Investigations are on, and at the end of the day, the real culprits would be unmasked”.

“There is also the need to state, again for the purpose of clarity, that four persons were killed in yesterday’s attack. Twenty- Six others were wounded, one of them a soldier” the statement said.

Happy 2011.
Let's know your opinions on Atiku and Igbo people.
Happy New Year to you too brother. Lets see, Atiku had 8 years to show why he should be president;howerver, he never did. He was there and never called out to the Igbos or showed concern before he was running for presidency so why would he now? He couldn't get one construction worker to lay one nail down to begin work on a niger bridge, why would he now? Did nigeria not have more money then than they do now? Nigeria's debt was liquidated during the OBJ administration which meant more room to get the job down "for the love of Ndigbo" but it was not done. Now that nigeria is in debt he is promising that and more to be completed.lol. Atiku comes up after a month and a half with this Igbo presidency nonsense out of nowhere as if people have no brains and don't know the presidential primaries are coming up.How elementary. That's what I think.

This is where we differ.

We aren't the only nation dealing with diversity issues.

It is like telling South Africa, Brazil or Indonesia or even US (where there is still marginalisation) to split because of their diversity.

Our case is not even like that of Sudan where heavy marginalisation and ethnic cleansing of the Black South by the Arab North is the norm.

We are a nation that can easily fix our issues by taking out the hydra headed evil of corruption from our polity.

The bombings of today are very likely related ro politics. Politics is a hot bed today in Nigeria because people wan go thief their 'own' share from national cake at any cost.
What arent you getting? huhWe are not a nation.Nigeria is a counterfeit and imaginary country  containing nations. Nigeria is worse than sudan, way worse! Its just that southern sudanese had the balls to fight against their oppressors. There's been Genocide going on in nigeria since the 60s.Where have you been? Politics, ethnicity, and religion is one in the same in nigeria so there is no alternative but separation.

I find it interesting that people are starting to point fingers at Atiku while ignoring the more credible threats from (1) General John Togo of the Niger Delta, (2) Threats from the Orkah crew , and (3) MEND at large.

They will start blaming IBB for the bombing soon and GEJ will invite MEND thugs and others to Aso rock and have a press moment to show solidarity. olodo.

Happy New Year, and as Eze Ndiigbo Gburugburu would say, Good Morning.
Don't worry they will soon find out that it is also mend setting off bombs in iraq also. Grow a brain.

We might not have chosen to be Nigeria by ourselves but we've being in existence since 1914.

It has conferred on us as a nation peculiar strengths and weaknesses.

I am insisting that our strengths greatly surpass our weakness as Nigeria if you do away with corruption.

Before oil we had a means of livelihood - hardwork mostly through agriculture.

If many people stopped aspiring to be political office holders because of largesse, stopped looting and executed contracts as planned, prosecute law breakers esp corrupt officials justly,
I don't think you'd have a reason to question the existence Nigeria in the first place.
We are not a nation and never have been one. As individual nations each ethnic group(nation) was progressive until the amalgamation. The country is just too big and diverse to control especially in africa.Sorry but nigeria has never worked and will never.

It is unfortunate that our situation as a country has turned this way.

Because our potentials are greatest with our current size. Hence we are even touted as potential economic powers (the JP Morgan 'Next Eleven').
It is because of our large size and great diversity in demography and resources.

We can chose to throw all this away and split up due to some backward facing non-visionaries.
It may be unavoidable but it will indeed be a very painful loss.
The question you should be asking is if we "chose" to be together.

If Jonathan is a decent man , and out of respect for those who lost their lives needlessly, he will step down for being a terrible Commander in Chief who has failed woefully , on several occasions, to protect the lives of Nigerians. I don't expect that to happen with the likes of OBJ and Anenih egging on this clearly incompetent man for their own gain.
Can you not see the political under tone of these bombing that seem to be occuring days before the PDP presidential primary? These bombing have nothing to do with GEJ.

Saraki dumps PDP, calls for prayers to bring his son back

News Dec 31, 2010

By Demola Akinyemi

Emotions of a father ran Friday as the second republic senate leader, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki wept openly urging people to pray along with him to bring back his son Governor Bukola Saraki to him.

The elder Saraki also declared that himself and his teaming supporters are no longer in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It would be recalled that he ordered his teaming supporters to join the party in 2002 in his bid to capture political power from the then administration of Alh Muhammed Alabi Lawal when crisis of second term ambition engulfed the state.

Dr Olusola Saraki spoke in an interview with journalists at his Ilorin country home when the team of the All Nigerian Peoples Party led by its national chairman, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu (ANPP) visited him.

According to him,”I want to ask all of you to please help me to pray to God to bring my son back to me. I do don’t like the way PDP is being run. I have discussed with President Jonathan and he said he will do something about it, We are no more in PDP, we have not decided which party to go but by Sunday, I will address the press on it”.

On why he chose to abandon the party instead of settling the crisis being a leader, he said “The door of PDP in kwara has been locked against me. By their laws when the door is locked you cannot open it. I am a peaceful person, I don’t want to break the PDP law so the best thing to do is to leave, it has nothing to do with being a leader”.

“Already, the PDP has known its delegates even long before the primaries and since I cannot contest that, the best thing to do is to leave the party”.

The elder Saraki who said he has no grudge against his son Governor Bukola Saraki noted that his frequent visits to Abuja, which caused his long absence in the state created the problem”. The people he left the state to run started running kwara “anyhow”,he stressed.

He further said that his absence in the state to monitor it also caused the problem stressing that he actually needed to keep the distance because his son is the governor, but now he is regretting the action.

No. Igbo, unlike Yoruba, are not traitors that say one thing and do another. The Enugu House members have spoken their mind. There is nothing wrong with voting Atiku or Jonathan in a true democratic setting. Igbo are republicans who decide matters for themselves. We are no ngbatis that follow the crowd, SHEEPISHLY.
Ok now according to what you said, lets assume enugu and anambra do with atiku, the SE votes would be split would it? and where would it leave the igbos? Complaining and crying over marginalization after atiku becomes president.

I am calling on the Nigerian government to quickly dissolve the state government of Jos and quickly appoint a military governor. The President, as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces have the capability and power to do that. This is very very important.

Further Actions:

Either divide the state two or evacuate all settlers in the state! Else politicians will continue to use the state for their political gains, and extremist will continue to use the state for their evil actions.
How does dividing the state in 2 stop the crises? The non-indigenes should respect the land of the hosts.Plain and simple.
