kidap:
Nigerian Traditional Rulers often derive their titles from the rulers of independent states or communities that existed before the formation of modern Nigeria.

They don’t have formal political power, they command respect from their people and have considerable influence.

Below are some titles of kings/ traditional rulers in Yoruba land.

If you know some other titles of Yoruba traditional rulers/ kings not listed above, kindly add it in the comment box.
Thank You!

Its clear for all to see, if u like, write an epistle, a clueless and self righteous man is evil... As if that isn't bad enough, he is surrounded by vultures as for 500 billion fraud, if abacha stole trillions wen Nigeria never get money reach like this and d economy no fall, will 500b make it fall? This is just tip of the iceberg, they steal in billions daily from top, to down in almost all ministry, maybe from government purse or the masses purse
There Is something u don't understand - our economy is not out of recession - the recession is simply, on break because of the improved price of crude - our responsibilities and our population now are far greater then when abacha ruled the country, so your yardstick of comparison is faulty again, if because money is not flowing within the economy like it use to please ask those that managed the economy before what abracadabra they were doing? For your information They were borrowing to pay recurrent overhead, Sanusi shouted, okonjo iweala shouted, but just like you said, they also said - it was our turn no matter how much we take our own share nigeria would nevr collapse - Abeg a dey go swaziland it!s a futile effort debating this horrendous issue with you sowore is the wrong candidate for the job, and that's my opinion.

The leader of the ruling party is a devil and devils advocate combined.. No need to look for judas in ur or separate anything
All of this is propaganda, if the cbn governor mismanaged N500b what makes him different from the party secretary that mismanaged aac money? At least he cannot hide or run away, if they truly mismanaged the money the economy would definitely feel the impact of that kind of money - If bubu doesn't steal and wants to better the masses fortune and people have a personal vandetta does it make it true that he is evil? - even on BBC when wole soyinka was asked pertinent questions he answered in the affirmative, and his only avocation was for a younger person - that's all, so what exactly is the yardstick of determination of one being the devil or the party being the advocate of the devil, when nigerians kill each other and stand on each other's corpses in benue, boko haram kill Nigerian soldiers which could have been nipped in the bud earlier but so that the FG would assign more funds to defense for them to steal, or yahoo-yahoo duping is the order of the day, and a kidnapper would be called a billionaire kidnapper causing all nigerians to dip into the trade and you say the top is evil, when it's actually all nigerians that are evil and he is more of a saint compared to those that put drugs in people bags at the airport, just imagine how many have been beheaded in Saudi Arabia because of this - Abeg let us leave matter of evil and face the grand issues and do proper comparison

besti17:
The Council of Yoruba Obas in Diaspora has questioned the reason for the restriction to the underwriting of absolute rulers in Diaspora by the Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, Oba Obateru Akinruntan.

Akinruntan had as of late in his royal residence in Ugbo people group, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, delegated three Diaspora-based Nigerians as Yoruba Obas.

The three delegated conventional rulers are the Oriade of Georgia, United States, Oba Bernard Shola Akinrimisi; the customary leader of Yoruba in the Republic of Ireland, Oba Saheed Ibrahim Adufe, and the usual leader of Yoruba in Liberia, Oba Omobolaji Ogunkoya.

Be that as it may, Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, and his supporters had condemned the activity of the ruler.

Be that as it may, the Secretary, Council of Yoruba Obas in Diaspora, Mr. Olukunle Akanbi, in an announcement yesterday, said a crusade of backbiting against the illustrious dad would not stand.

Or maybe, he hailed the activity of the Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom as a proactive indication of his duty to the protection of the Yoruba culture, both at home and in the Diaspora.

In its announcement, the board stated, "We, Oba Yoruba in Diaspora, acknowledge Olugbo and Paramount Ruler of Ugbo Kingdom. The restricted specialist for the certification respect and formal acknowledgment presented on us on April 22 in his royal residence, we are so thankful to Olodumare for His leniency on us.

"It is suitable to state that it is heretical in Yorubaland for a central like Adams to begin questioning or slandering the workplace of any Yoruba lord, talk all the more a profoundly worshipped ruler like Olugbo.

"In what capacity can a subject assault a lord over an authentic establishment that will ensure our way of life in a substantial evolving society. The inquiry we need to pose to Adams, who is just a conventional boss in Oyo kingdom, is, What right or specialist does he needs to criticize the desires of Yoruba children and little girls in the Diaspora who requested for the underwriting of these credible illustrious emissaries as lords over Yoruba people group in the Diaspora?

"Is it accurate to say that he is more Yoruba than those of us in the Diaspora or is it wrongdoing to be in the Diaspora as a Yoruba child? Did he contribute anything to our migration to the Diaspora for him to act as our guardian?

"While it isn't hard to get Adams primary intentions against the establishment of the commendable diplomats in the Diaspora, it will get the job done to invigorate his recollections that Olugbo, who has a profound record of Yoruba history, has never and could never do anything undermine or bargain the Yoruba culture.

"Going ahead, the chamber stop to be occupied by the unnecessary shenanigans of Adams and his kind, however, to keep on perceiving how to save and secure our very worshipped culture and our kin in the Diaspora.

"We ask Adams to search for methods for settling his disparities with armies of remarkable Yoruba children and little girls including individuals from the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC)."

CrimeRe: Cops Who Killed Osaze Osagie, Nigerian Student In US, Cleared Of Charges by olajide8(m): 2:48pm On May 12, 2019
EmagNig:
State College cops who killed Osaze Osagie, a Nigerian student in the United States, have been cleared of all charges.

The police officers had implemented the use of force while serving a mental health warrant that resulted in the death of Osaze Osagie on March 20.

According to a the Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna, the officers were in a “life-and-death situation” when they shot Osagie who was approaching them with a 5.16-inch steak knife, Onwardstate reports.

Osagie died of multiple gunshot wounds after the confrontation at his apartment on Old Boalsburg Road.

No charges will be filed against any of the officers involved in serving the warrant, and none of them were referenced by name by Cantorna.

“Given the distance between Mr. Osagie and the officers and the speed at which Mr. Osagie was moving, Mr. Osagie had ample opportunity to seriously injure and potentially kill both officers,” Cantora said in a press conference.

“The time that Officer No. 1 shot, there was no time for any alternative means to stop a potentially deadly attack by Mr. Osagie. At the time of the incident, both officers acted consistently with their training and were justified in the use of force.”

The full report detailed the course of events that led to the Osagie’s death after his father reported him missing on March 19.

According to Cantorna, the confrontation between Osagie and police at his apartment lasted about 30 seconds from the first knock on the door until he approached them with a knife and was shot.

The opposition party in a statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, it’s National Publicity Secretary described the award as a solicited award that is another failed image-laundering and botched endorsement by the Buhari Presidency, which is being confronted by the weight of public rejection for its failures and the rigging of the February 23, Presidential elections.

PoliticsRe: Do Not Pay For Electricity After 2 Weeks – NERC Announces New Regulations by olajide8(m): 12:05pm On May 11, 2019
besti7:
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has approached Nigerians not to pay for meter administration charge and the power bill if there is blackout for over about fourteen days.

NERC said that the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) guideline had halted the power Distribution Companies from gathering vitality and administration charges following two weeks of intensity blackout.

Its executive, Prof. James Momoh, broke the news at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) dispatch of the MAP in Abuja on Friday.

The General Manager, Finance and Management Services, Abudukadir Shetima, who spoke to the Chairman, said that with the MAP guideline, the meters must be introduced not later than ten days after installment.

As per him, should the DisCo will not supplant a failing meter following two days, the client isn’t relied upon to make any installment.

He said that NERC, DisCos and the clients have their due date to give the meters to the clients at the required time.

He said the guideline was structured in a way that views the shopper as the lord in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) esteem chain.

The client, he stated, is relied upon to have the best administrations.

He included, “Due dates were given in the guideline to the DisCos, even the commission with the goal that we don’t defer, so the clients get the administration at the time that it is required.

“For example, if a meter is going to be introduced, it must be submitted inside ten days of making installment. There will be sanctions if that due date isn’t met.

“Number two, to guarantee there will be authorized, the MAP has been approached to give a bank execution ensure that will be called upon. So they will lose cash on the off chance that the delay in delivering the meters even by one day.

“Number two, if the meters get terrible, they will be supplanted by the MAP with no installment for the whole ten years time frame.

“If the meters don’t work they should be supplanted inside two days, on the off chance that they are not replaced inside two days, the client won’t make the month to month clients administration charge installment. That installment will be seized.

“Another piece of the guideline is that if there is a drawn-out blackout, and they are out of power for a considerable length of time, notwithstanding another measure that the commission is taking to address those sort of situations, the client won’t pay for the meter administration charge and won’t pay for the power if there is blackout for over about fourteen days.”

Posting the goal of the guideline, Momoh said the significant principal purpose is the evacuation of assessed charging to expel the discussions around it.

He included: “The clients are glad to make the installment. The second issue is income confirmation; happy clients will pay.

“Nigerians are eager to pay for the administrations they can get so that there will be income confirmation and that will affect the business all in all. Presently, the incomes in the business are not adequate to empower speculations and better administrations. Along these lines, it resembles an endless loop and this metering is expected to address that issue.”

Talking, the AEDC Managing Director, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya uncovered that through and through the organization has intended to meter the clients in its establishment regions with 900,000 meters.

He said that remembering that the clients would expand, the meter merchants would likewise provide food for their metering.

He stated: “On the whole, 900,000 traditions have been booked for metering in AEDC establishment territory in the main occurrence. Being a moving target, we know that the number may increment and as it does, the merchants will take them along.”

*Insists He Won’t Recognise Buhari As President–Elect

*His Utterance Treasonable, May Plunge Nation Into War – NDF

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, elder statesman and one of the leaders of Afenifere, has dared the Federal Government to arrest him over his statement that he would not recognise President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential election until proven by the courts.

Adebanjo, in an interview published by Daily Independent, had described the 2019 presidential election as a farce, saying he could not recognise Buhari – who was declared winner of the election – as president-elect.

Adebanjo, who also expressed optimism that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would get justice at the court, also said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wrongly declared President Buhari as winner of the election.

“The election was a farce. I don’t regard Buhari as president. Buhari was wrongly declared winner by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). When we get to court, we would know who the real president is.

“How can you call Buhari president with the way the presidential election was conducted in a 21st century Nigeria? Look at the elections, they were completely militarised. Corps members were openly kidnapped to rig the elections,” he had said.

However, some Nigerians had reacted to the interview by calling for his arrest, saying his statement was treasonable.

The National Democratic Front (NDF) on Tuesday called for the immediate arrest and arraignment of Adebanjo, saying his comment amounted to treason and utterances capable of plunging the country into another civil war.

NDF, through its Secretary General, Dr. Bolaji Abdulkadir, said: “Adebanjo premised his treasonous call, published by the Daily Independent, on the handling of the recently held presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is merely a cover to justify the mayhem he and his co-travellers are planning in order to illegitimately and forcefully overthrow the government in violation of the constitution.

“Security agencies must immediately act to curtail such excesses by immediately arresting Adebanjo and anyone that instructed him to make such statement with a view to sending out the message that the laws of Nigeria are not to be toyed with.

“This call became necessary because of the series of plots by people like Adebanjo (and those who pay him) to overthrow the government of President Buhari, which were uncovered by the Federal Government prior to the elections.”

In his reaction on Tuesday, Adebanjo said he stood by his comment that he would not recognise President Buhari as the winner of the election.

He said he would not be surprised if he was arrested as the Buhari administration was known for its lack of tolerance for the opposition.

“Let them come and arrest me. I am used to that. It is typical of their regime that they don’t tolerate opposition. It is typical of Buhari in particular, he doesn’t tolerate opposition; so it’s nothing new to me.

“I maintain my stand that until the Supreme Court rules that he is validly elected, I will not recognise him.

“We have evidence that the election was rigged, let the court decide otherwise. That is all I am saying.

“The constitution provides that if you are not satisfied with the outcome of the election, go to the tribunal and don’t resort to violence.

“It is only when the court decides that he won, that is when I will recognise him. If to them, that is an offence, then I am ready to go to prison. By my pronouncement, I have not said anything illegal or unconstitutional.

“Right now, Buhari is the president declared by INEC, and not the person that won the election, and the constitution says if you are not satisfied by that declaration, go to the tribunal.

“I will only recognise him if the court rules that he is the rightful winner. That is my position and if it is an offence to follow what the constitution says, then I am ready to go to prison,” he said.
