It is a selfish act praising one only when the fellow will no longer benefits from those praises being a dead person already.

Nice talk.
After the death of a guy I knew, it got me thinking about the lots of good words I could have said about him.

I decided to praise my friends there and then, telling each one what I like about them the next time I saw them. I'm not waiting for anyone to die before I say those good words. It will only do them good when they are alive to hear it.

As for his broken neck, we lie give my parent say him break neck has him been dey jump back flip for field.

This reminds me of one day I was playing wrestling with my childhood best friend. The guy pretended to be dead at a point. Omo see as my mind cut! Thousands of thoughts were flying all over my head.

I haven't had such a shock in my life before.

Imagine the relief to see him get up and start laughing.

My own story is the fact that my dad was a bricklayer. His sole aim is to send us to school and start making it big in life. My guy I can't even mix cement with sand together bro and it's very painful. We were semi butty children that time. As of the time I was unemployed at all I nearly curse myself and my dad for not letting us know about his job. If I did know the job brother I 4 no collect any job at all. I for Don join my education with it start winning small small contracts by now.... I blame our parents for not putting that sense in us... Now I wear suit inside hot weather with token at the end of the month... I weep my guy

Sorry. I understand your pain.

Just imagine the combination Degree/education + Craft/skills

Parental upbringing(some) is one of our problems in Nigeria.
If you are a Tailor as a parent let your children know much about the work and train them in school
If you are a bricklayer. Let your male children know deep about the work and train them in school
What I meant by parental problems is the fact that some parents don't expose their children to the work that bring them daily bread in the family. Especially Yoruba parents. All they believe in is education then start using the yeye certificate to look for yeye job that does not exist anymore. Let's change our views. Well things have started changing now in 21st century. Our eyes are opening more more. See the young boy now I believe this was his mother business b4 he develops interest in it.

True talk!

My dad is a furniture maker, a great one at that. His works can easily be passed as imported.

What about me his son, I can't even nail two words together without breaking one or both cheesy cheesy cheesy. While growing up, he always made sure his children don't frequent his workshop.

Anytime I find my self there, though, what I usually remember about the visit is how he spoilt us with iya alamala food and the ogufes. grin

Though a graduate, I still very much wish I know my dad's trade.

Religion / Re: Bishop Oyedepo: If You Don’t Pay Your Tithe You Are Under A Financial Curse by Olamilekan08(m): 3:43pm On Jul 18, 2020
Standing5:
:
Isn't Malachi 3:10-11 where devourers were promised to be rebuked supporting the bishop's submission ?

Kobojunkie:
No, it does not support your bishops claim at all. Because even if we were still under the old covenant( only the gentile foreigners that lived among the jews were even considered for the old Covenant by the way), Malachi was an oracle to those who had access to the storehouse in the temple and that was the priests, not the people of Israel.
Plus foreigners were not specified for tithing according to the old covenant, you can read the book of Numbers on the specifics of that too.

In fact anyone who still thinks he/she should still live according to the old Covenant ought to read and understand the details of the old covenant written in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, to at least have a good idea of what they have supposedly signed up for.

One example that quickly comes to my mind is Deuteronomy Chapter 14. Verse 26 even says that the Israelite can buy whatever they desire with the tithe after converting it to money and enjoy themselves with it if they are not able to pay the tithe because of long journey.

Another thing to be thankful of that Christian is not under the law covenant is they fact that they are not longer under death penalty which of course if these so called men of God emphasised as they do with tithe, they would have asked for the stoning to death of any member that did work on a Sabbath day as Exodus 31:14 and Numbers 15:35.

Family / Re: Is It Wrong To Show Gratitude? by Olamilekan08(m): 9:43am On Jun 25, 2020
When I was a kid, I had that attitude of not saying thank you to my parents. It was so heavy in my mouth. Thanks to my mum, with some serious resetting mothers' devices such as comparing me to my younger more appreciating siblings, and the 'can't you say thank you' etc. I just find myself even till today been grateful for anything I'm given. Some times ago, I had to call my mum just to thank her for everything she has done for me.

Being grateful is a good virtue, no matter our upbringing, it's something we need to learn, it's a form of courtesy.

And if you feel someone is thanking you too much, please allow them, they are only expressing how much what to did benefits them, don't deny them, it won't kill you.

Of course while we know it's God who made it possible for us to be able to do what we do, and it is him who deserves all praises, we shouldn't forget that we humans thrive in been acknowledged, appreciated and praised. Don't deny yourself that. Work to get appropriate praises and appreciation you deserve by doing good to people. Not flattering ones nor ones that appeal to your ego.

Thank you wink

You guys learning several languages how are you doing it?

I'm trying to perfect front end Web development, but Java scripts is looking like a rocket science to me. I have just mastered basic Html and CSS. I hope to perfect with time by working on project.

I'm now spending most of my time on the How To section of the 3cS website. Copy and paste the code I needed and spend hours trying to change class and ids, colors and pixels and understanding what a code does and why it isn't working the way I wanted.

SQL done with the basics (Ironically, I don't know where or how SQL is apply) I only know it's a database language where you can join table and do several selects and some other functions.

PHP only idea of what it does

On and off with python. Those edx video courses always get me lost as they are always talking about things I don't understand. Until finally the I tried datacamp. It really help me enjoy Python for data science and all was looking promising until my 7 day free trial ended. cry cry

the Bible is not fiction, many parts of the Bible has been confirmed by history, science and archeology.

Many here that says the Bible is a book of myth or fiction probably haven't examined the Bible themselves.

If only they would set aside their prejudice, there are undisputed facts that the Bible talks about real people, places, and events and times.

When other countries are using superior health care facilities with better alternatives to blood transfusion, we are still backward here, insisting on transfusion.

I don't even trust any test or blood screening in Naija.

It is only in Nigeria refusing blood transfusion mean choosing death. And blood transfusion is automatically life saving with no risks. No body mentions the risks involved and the complications that might happen after the transfusion.

For as far as 1980s alternatives to blood transfusion has been the main thing in modern medicine.

I was at a standard hospital in Abuja sometimes ago and was shocked to see on the wall of the lab that there is no alternative to blood transfusion! Are we that backward in Healthcare and medicine?
